Speaker 1: Start uf dot up, Start Up, Brooklyn Boy, start Up, Brooklyn Buys, Start dat Up. They're making noise data Up. Episode one, Marching the Two Hunts the Brooklyn Boys Podcast. Yeah ah well, I'm I'm David Brody from Elvistre in the Morning Show, and I'm Scary Jones from Extra Television. Yeah how about that guy? How do you knew? I was gonna say that? Right? And that was good? I had Scary on my Giant TV to the last night I dv art it. I watched. I only watched um a little bit of it because I had the unbelievable Dodgers Cardinals game. On off home run for the Dodgers. It was a pitching duel with two teams that have great lineups, they couldn't hit. It was classic baseball, Like, if you weren't a baseball fan, this was the game to watch. Well, it wasn't high scoring, so let me rephrase that, if you love baseball, this was the game to watch. It just sucks so bad that two teams work so hard to get to the postseason and everything ends in a one game play in Yeah, well it's one one pitch separated these two teams and It's not like the Cardinals were bad. They were freaking awesome this year. But I just think there has to be a better system. But they deliberately did this. The reason they did this was they tried doing the wild card again. We're not gonna get sports e but they added the wild card many years ago, right to include more teams. What people skipping? Yeah, stop it, stop it, we're not gonna talk about sports. We'll wait thirty just real quick, because people are like, what are they talking sports for? We should not talk Someone else just skipped. No, we're still here three seconds later, seconds later, we're still talking about sports. I really really quickly, just I won't harp on it. So they when they switched to three divisions, that's three winners, and he needed a fourth team. Well, by having a wild card, that means all three divisions can compete for that right, so more cities are involved. The problem was the wild card team would be a team like that. They oh yeah, they finished second in their division and maybe they weren't dearly that competitive because they wanted they didn't try hard the last couple of weeks. Once they wrapped up the wild card, right, there was no motivation to win a division, and a lot of those teams won the World Series, so there was no real penalty if you could get in the wild card, because what would happen is you have a three game series, right, and it would be like two games in in the better teams place and one game in yours. So really you won the division for a one game difference to host an extra game. So this way they're telling people, you don't want to win a division. You get one frigging game to win or you're out. It's crazy though, because people watch it. Teams are super talented and the card focks one game fantastic. Well that's a good one. I like the outcome of that one. Yeah, it wasn't as good a game as last night though, So all right, all right, the end of that before we go any further. Yes, my fucking kitchen light is possessed. Can you hold on a second? Hold on? Do you understand it's blinking on off, on off, on, off, on off, hold on? Well that's how it would blink. It's no other way for it to blink. They can't bling on on off, on on off, right, think about it, alright, we're bad licks on toes? What nothing huh nothing, I'd standing you're a cocksucker. Nope, I'm gonna say, is you tried that? My my lighting? My lighting system here is all. Is it your ring lights? You know it's connect the two the two smart speakers in my house not so smart. Well, you know who they're And okay, those two they control my lights because I have it on a smart they're smart lights there, the Amazon and the one from Apple. Correct, So I can tell it either one of them right now. I'm not gonna do it because it's gonna sunk up a lot of people that are listening to this with their phones. I could tell anyone at any time, Hey make the room red, Hey make the room yellow. Hey give me six lighting Hey. Because they're all like on a on a dimmer and stuff like that, and there's each bulb is controlled. You know, I could have a couple of lights on, a couple off, and then it's controlled by room. Well, for some reason, about three weeks ago, one of my six kitchen lights and that when I say lights, they're the ones that hang in the ceiling, the you have lights on the ceiling, the one other ones that hang from the inside. You know, what do you call those are special names for the high hats. Yes, they're called high hats. I'm not a fucking home guy, you know me, anyway, So they have I have six high hats in my kid chin, and one of them is fucking possessed. So I'll be like, I'll close the lights. I'll say, I'll give the smart speaker the queue shut the lights off, and then I'll go into my bedroom and all of a sudden, this one light over my refrigerator starts fucking blinking on and off, and then it goes fast and who goes slow? Other times when I have all the lights on and that one light fucking is just off, Now you can't say you gotta change the bulb. It's burned out, because the damn thing works. Because if I turned all the lights on right now, it's gotta be Have I turned all the lights on right this second, that light would go on. But now I just commanded all the lights to go off in the kitchen and this freaking one light it's just blinking and it's going it's like rapid fire, like a strobe. It's like it's spas it out and I think it's I don't know if it's an electrical current. I don't know what's going on. It pisces me the hell off. Sounds expensive, it sounds like sounds anyway. So I had to go shut that off because it's gonna drive me fucking bonkers if we're sitting here for the next eight five minutes, or if like you're into club. It could be if it was darker out, you know. But I'm gonna, I'm gonna. I'm gonna say something that may change people's lives listening to this podcast. So I have a l e x A in three rooms of my house. Okay, the rest of my family prefers Google Home, so in their rooms they've got Google Home at in the kitchen. Right. So the female voice, which you've all heard it, I hate it. I hate her inflection, I hate her annoying. That's not Cortan is it. That's Windows, dude. I have no idea. Why would you? Why would you ask if Alex with an A is Quartana? Otherwise they'd be the same. I think you talk about Google Home. What's the Google Home one name? That's what I'm thinking of. Hey, Google, I'm so sorry. I just sucked people. That's all right. I made a So you can get Samuel L. Jackson to to be your voice most of the time for free, and you can get um what's her name Melissa McCarthy for four dollars. Okay, that's for the home right the other the other one. But it's hard to say that smart speaker's names because we're gonna wake them up, right, So yes, for the Alex with an A. What about Jeeves? Can we ask Jeeves? That's a website. Dude, can't ask Jeeves anyway, So remember that. I So I have one of my UM units, one of my echoes, set to Samuel L. Jackson. So you say, hey, Sam, I'm sorry if you have damn it if you haven't said I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Right, and so, like you can ask him what. You can't ask him everything, but you can ask him like a lot of things. So if you ask him like what the weather is, he'll tell you that's basic who won the game last night? But if you say like what, he'll say say what I say? So you go what you say? What again? What? Ah'll care you? Okay if I remember correctly, Yeah, But but here's what I want to say. It's life changing. I switched her voice to the male voice. Oh really, because when the mail speaks, it's like, Hi, I'm setting your alarmed to the time you ask for so as opposed to the annoying U shrew voice that it comes with. You can just say, switch to your mail voice. That's a little misogynistic. It's not all women, it's just this one. I can't stand hard. So when he says something stupid, I could, I feel less like I curse him more because I'm not cursing her. I feel better cursing him. So he listening, he does something. They do something. Now. I don't know if you've ever used your smart speaker for this, but you'll say, hey, what's the weather? Or you'll say, hey, what time is the Mets game today? Whatever? You ask it right. Some of them, he's obviously and this she'll go. She'll say, uh. He'll say, uh, the answer you want is blah blah blah blah blah. Also, I don't you know if you didn't know, I can now help you with like shut up all that person, all right, extra shi, Yes, but no, Actually she reminded me that today she said, uh, uh, poland spring water will arrive today, you know, because I have that to Amazon it's fine. Yeah, because she didn't know, by the way, to me today she oh, by the way, did you know now that I'm capable of like I don't ask you right, you know what, be capable of shutting up? What did you ever get the random one where they asked you to rate the package in the middle of nowhere, You're just going about your website. You want grinder And then he goes and I'm like grinder right in the path, like uh, And I'm like uh huh, I'm like, read me my notifications and it's like, you recently, you know, you recently ordered water from Poland Spring. Would you like to rate that right now? It's like they want me to take a survey and all you a survey in the middle of my afternoon. Well uh. The other thing that that uh, that she does is she will um uh oh what does she do today? I mean to kiss me off. Oh. If you ask a question like, hey, what alarms do I have set today? They go they say, you have four alarm set because I have one every morning, and just tell me every alarm. I just one today's alarm. Just give me today's alarm. I can't just get today's alarm. And they have to say, like, what what time is? When next alarm? They have to say, your next alarm is no, just say to thirty you simplify. It's funny because, um, I do my commercial production from home, and you know, for the radio station when I have to do the you know all all my favorite all the ones that you say, hit the jingle on, stuff like that, and and I do it from right here in my living room. And then I also have a h the Apple product sitting in my on my living room U stereo area right. So sometimes when you say the name my name's scary, it sounds like so Mike. Radio commercials a lot of them start with hey, hey, it's scary. And then I'm doing the commercial into the microphone trying to record it, and she's in the background saying what can I help you with? Brodie. I swear to God, I spend more time on that than anything else. It happens so much. I'm like, hey, it's scary, So let me tell you about this new car. And all of a sudden she wakes up because she thinks I said her name, and she goes, I don't think I could find that. I'm like, you're sucking up my recording. I'm trying to record a commercial right now. I know that people are gonna don't tweet us. I know I could change her name to something else, so I can you really should in this case, I probably should change into Joan. Imagine like, okay, is this scary Jones high? Exactly? By the way, all the technology that Bezos and Amazon have, he shoots himself into space, you can't give me the technology to call her whatever I want. I want to call her asshole? I want to asshole? What's the weather? Dude? That was? How much would they sell people would buy him just to be able to do that? They don't allow that. No, you get three, three or four choices. Don't tweet me. I know there's a fifth whatever. But my point is you can't call it whatever you want? Why not plan You can call it the name of the company. I think for the exact reason we just did, because a lot of us But who can't take the low road? But but why would the company care? How great would that be to have the freedom to be able to do that? Hey, jerk off, who's pitching tonight? How that would wouldn't it make the device so much more fun every day you like, oh this week, I'm gonna call it motherfucker or dumbass. Hey, dumbass, dumbass right that you know, I think that that actually would increase sales. But but I'm not the only person to say that. Somebody else at the company must have said we should and they know we can't make it open. So we you know, the technology is there, and they just don't. They don't want to offer it. That's all. It's probably much more complicated circuit tree wise or software wise to to make unlimited amounts of names that you can call it. But you know what, ficking find a way it's voice detect gant penis, fly to space. You get my packages here in a day. Sometimes figure out how to I can call my echo device butt plug? Hey fuck nuts, yeah, hey ship stick. You know that you wake up in the morning on a Sunday, You're like, I gotta get up. I don't want to get up. You want to rest, he ass hat, Hey douche bag, what time is it? You got all your frustrations out and like you can go even if like if you don't like Kirsty and go your sexy motherfucker? What time is it? Straight up. I said, are you eaves dropping on me? And then she gave me this long ass answer about why she wasn't She said, oh no, only when the blue ring is lit. I'm sending it to the cloud, but to wake that's a wakeword. Okay, all right, okay, going back to sleep. Yeah, go back to sleep. Asshole, asshole with Brie and Scary. I just got the nicest text, no never from you. Remember a friend Brady who used to work at the radio station Shore he stole my phone charger? Did he really? You don't remember that? Two years ago? The astor finger. I'll tell the story real quick. We went on vacation and I had a high output charger that you just you know, you plug in your USB cable to it, so it wasn't like Android or Yeah, you can change the cable on it like most of the portable chargers. And I bought it on Amazon. I think it was like twenty seven dollars because it was a fast charging unit on my desk. Now, my desk is in the morning show Bullpen. We have our own office with it. Were like six six desks in it, one two through five desks in it. The DJs, the people that work in the other day parts of the radio station do not go in there. It's not their office space. So I came back. Now he he at the time was working late night, like ten to two at night, so I rarely saw him. Good guy, by the way, I'm not not hating on the guy. So I come back from vacation and I can't charge my phone because the charging box is gone. So I'm looking all over four. I don't see it. I asked the ten am guy. When he comes in, he says he didn't see it. I send out a corp an email to everybody at the station and I say, hey, if anyone has seen this charger, you know, no questions asked, but I would I would like it returned, I if you borrowed it. Whatever. So a couple of days go by and we see him at the all staff meeting and he says, hey, man, I just want to let you know I borrowed your charger. I said, okay, good, just give it back. I left it in the studio. Somebody stole it from him. Someone stole it from the studio. So I made him, Hey, I made him give me twenty two dollars whatever it was to get me another one. Oh my god, Dick, at that point, I'd be like, you know, I just know, fuck him, don't take show off my desk. Anyone who works in an office or works anywhere, like wherever you work, someone takes your ship. That's the difference between me and you. Man. Really, Bucks, you wouldn't because it's to me, it's like just to save space, treat me and scary and let us know if you would ask your co worker to reimburse the stolen charge. Look, if he misplaced it, he stole it, he borrowed it, he took it home, he brought it back your back right when I wasn't there. Didn't email me and say, hey, man, I borrowed your charge you I'll have it back on your desk. He came clean. Yeah, because two other people after the fact, we're like, yeah, I'm pretty sure it was him. Well, anyway, and he was only working at like six months at the time. He's like a new guy. New guys should never do that. Well, he sent me a nice text because um and I do like him. By the way, I just as we're speaking right now in the podcast there wants to borrow your charger. They're they're replaying um My Sebastian Maniscalco piece from the other night when I was on the TV show Extra Interview Extra is on on Fox five in New York. They do the next day replay. So he's on the air on his radio station right now, and he must have a studio monitor on and he just screenshot at the TV. He goes, Hey, just chilling here on the air, and look who pops up on the TV. Congrats that is so dope a D congrat. Congrat that's my Brooklyn accent. Congrats with a T S. Brady is is like Brady is one of those guys who abbreviates everything, yeah and like slangs it up. Yeah. So I wrote, hey, thanks man, I hope you Well, let's connect soon. We'll long overdue. He he was, he worked at UND he'd go on ze D. He wouldn't say yeah, So he just totally, Man, has hasn't been hasn't been forever, it's been five it's been five ever, let's grab drinks. Is he a boy band? Five? Yeah? Boys? Five? Ever? So yeah. Anyway, Yeah, so that leads us to um My Weekend And you know, I didn't talk to you about this Prodi and didn't ask you. I we have not spoken. This is the first time I'm gonna hear your critique about what you saw on TV last night. Again, I didn't watch the whole thing, but the set up, the set up of the things I you and I worked out together on Friday night. I went to go to Foxwood. Not Foxwood, whoops, mohegan Son. Foxes doesn't even exist anymore. Don't play in the jingle. You mess that up. Well, mohgan Son and I interviewed Sebashi Maniscalco for the first once. Doesn't exist anymore. It's now called the hard Rock MGM. I'm sorry, it's MGM so MGM Grand or something anyway, or is it Resorts World. I don't even one of the one of those. So yeah, so so I was there backstage with an extra. TV sent a camera person, they sent the producer and an audio tech, and I was it was a professional. Maniscalco is a major celebrity, right, major comedian, major comedian. He's also has a movie coming out, Uh About My Father, where it's loosely based on his life, and de Niro plays his dad amazing and his dad always wanted to meet de Niro and when he met DeNiro he would blew it off. Was like, yeah, I'm missing work for this, That's exactly it. But of all the people on the face of the earth, or even people in the Northeast that they could have gotten to interview Sebastia Mena Scalco, somehow the spin the bottle landed on you. Amazing. Well, yeah, well I'm Italian, you are, Yeah, well that's all you need. Well it was a little bit more to it. Yeah, black Harry is black hair, all you know. Danielle said, I looked like him a little bit. So anyway, the point is I went up there. He gave me more than he was super he was he a guy who kind of looks like Sebasta Menascalco. Who do you got? He was super sweet, gave me more time than we even were allotted, and and was just gave me a great interview, and it gave me so much material that extra may you some of the footage for a later date as well. They may actually package repackage it for when his film comes out. So it was really a cool moment. And I will tell you that you don't have audio for this time. Um, I know I'm not gonna play. I don't I don't want to bother anybody. It's all online. Anyway. You brought him cannolis. I brought him Cannoli's from Carlo's Bakery. That's the cake. Boss. Buddy then thanked me for doing that when he saw that from He mentioned it a couple of times on on the air and on this podcast. Thank you exactly. And uh, and I got a pizza from Okay. This is where we get a little sketchy now, right, Um, I think the pizza don't get paid. But no, no, no, there's no there's no sponsor here. This is this is a longtime argument for the Brooklyn Boys. It's the pizza conversation. I said, Look, you're from Chicago on from New York. We always have pizza wars. But did you know there's a third war brewing and it's happening right here in Connecticut where where we were standing doing the show. I said, So there's a place called Frank Peppe who does the White Clampie and New Haven out of New Haven, Connecticut. They think they have the best pizza, better than New York and Chicago combined. Anyway, he had never heard of this pizza war let alone Frank Peppi, And there was a Frank Peppi in the food court covenion convenient. So I went up there and I got a white clam pie and we had it delivered to the dressing room and we ate pizza. Now that part didn't make it on the interview. What did he say? He he took one bite and then you thought, okay, that was just a gratuitous bite. But then he continued to date the whole slice. He goes, this was good, and I said, yeah, it really is. The white clam pie at Peppi's is excellent. You cannot discount New Haven as being in the running. But the different things. But but but they but they don't. They don't make pizza. They make white clam pie pizza. No, but they also do regular novel. Let's let and I should go up. Hold on, that's what I'm gonna say. Let's find a day off. Let's find a saturday. Legitimately, let's find a saturday. We have to get our star and yep, and you and I will go up to New Haven and we will eat no less than four pizzas anymore. We're gonna go go to four different places at least, and we and we will, we will so we can put this to bed as far because if we don't eat it right, we can't can't say, because we've always said that on this podcast, you can't tell separately. We gotta go together. Yeah, you can't tell me your gas station pizza and iowas as good as New York piage. So that's what I was gonna say the next damn it, I was gonna say, the next time you interview Sevestr Manscalco, you gotta tell them about the Iowa gas station taco pizza. Not doing that, Okay, all right, but anyway, anyway, it was a great interview. It was awesome. They air yesterday on Extra. It's airing again right now. We just aired Brodie for what you saw, honest opinion. I can take it, go for it, a thick skin, constructive criticism. What did you say? Well, I saw the clip you sent me. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, which is on my DVR, because again I told you, I had the baseball game on the last night, and although I could pause it, I was watching a bunch I was watching. I gotta be honest with you. I was switching between Only Murders in the Building on Hulu and the baseball game. So I paused the baseball game, watch an episode for thirty minutes, twenty six minutes, whatever it was, and then go back to the baseball game. And I did not have time to watch your whole thing. Here's what I'll say. I thought you look good. I'm not a big fan of red with red. With red, it looked okay on you because you have darker colors, like I could never wear that because they would highlight my freckles. They can't wear. Yeah, they chose. I gave him four out outfit options and the TV people chose that, and he always wears dark colors, So I thought the red was good. I did think you look comfortable with the with the cannolis in the clip that I saw, he looked comfortable with you, because I because he knows you look. We've had him on our podcast. We had him on our podcast before Elvis had him on the show. That is true. We had him first, so I feel like there's a thing there. Here's what I'll say about Sebastian. Sebastian is a big star. He's been in Hollywood movies, he hangs out with celebrities, hosted the mtvv A's in two thousand nineteen. Yeah, Seinfeld considers him one of his one of his favorite people. Like he's a big deal, and maybe it's because he's a comic, because maybe it's because he came from humble beginnings. But he's relatively normal for a guy that wealthy and powerful, like he's like, hey, hey, and maybe it's because he's Italian, yeah, and and and a comedian that he's just like he came from. He'll tell you he came from a blue collar family. You know families? Did I not like you? HOI POLOI come on now? But all right, so so so you didn't see it yet? I need I wanted your honest opinion. I don't you know what. We can pause this podcast. I can run upstairs and watch it come back. You guys listening will never know that we paused it. Do you want to do that? Real quick? Real quick? We gotta go real quick. Come on, man, all right here, we're gonna make an edit here, folks, and then yeah, alright, edit here, you know, unless you want to play commercials and he'll have it when I come back, Like we could do that. Oh, I like that. I like that. Okay, we're gonna play commercials and I'm gonna come back on my review, back past Scary and Brodie. All Right, we're back from the commercial and it's been a few minutes and David Brody has just watched the extra. I heard it in the background. Yeah, okay, I watched it. Yeah. So they do show you eating the pizza. Yes, they don't. They don't say what the conversation was, but they show you what the pizza. That's all right. So I liked that you laid out your clothes on the bed, but they showed it in black and white, so that's not helpful. Uh. And then the thing you did when you were like, I don't know, you filming for your Instagram account where you were talking and he's like, what are you doing? He's like, we haven't started yet. That that was funny. You did a couple of eye rolls that were funny. The the one criticism I would have to have a criticism was when you were talking about his movie what's the name is? The movie about my father? About my father? Right? You would like you were telling him who was in his own movie? Well, that's the way it was edited. You see, you had to see the real interview see day edit for time. And obviously that was like quick, that's just the way, and it's the nero thing. They wanted to get the facts in there, so they had me saying the fact. Oh I see, I say he did. He responded to everything that I said, like Leslie bit plays your mother in law like I would like to him say, and uh comment about each person and how great is and and and how did you get and who do you have for your mother in law? You know what a sound like that? Well he would say it. But other than that, I liked it. I thought it was now I know what went into this, right, I know what you filmed the whole bit. So there was a lot more. There's all the things that the flash cards I did. I held up Italian words on flash cards and asked him how to pronounce it, like like he said mozzarella. He said calamari, and I was hoping he would go for the gallamad, you know, and things like that. But uh so if we're hitting, if we're hitting hard here, I would say you and you would agree your front profile is better than your side profile. Correct, But they made you keep turning to him. Well, no, that was my body. See that's the weird part about television thing. I want to talk to you. They told they told us, they told us to to cheat toward the camera, meaning look at the look at the camera both of you and both of you kind of stand at like an angle toward the camera. But but but look left. The problem with that is it's very awkward. And if I'm gonna talk to someone, I'm gonna face them. So they kept telling me, scary, You're just getting you on the side. You gotta look. So I'm just not TV ready. I've never really done. So that's my criticised. It's awkward, so it will be a lot less awkward. You're telling me if I face the camera but my look left. I don't know. Yeah, you have to like it's a weird thing. You know what I would have done. It's a particular to put you in. I don't want to sound like staying from the police, who, by the way, is in only murders in the building. I wouldn't have stood so close. Don't stand so close to him because you're forced to turn. There's no peripheral. You don't have an you needed a wider angle, a little more space between the two of you, and you would you wouldn't have had a turn as much. Well that I mean, that's the worst of it. Yeah, that was that. It was fun though. Well I was not nervous, and I got a lot of credit from the and the I got an email from the head of Extra, the creator of Extra, and she says, you were wonderful, love your voice very good. She thought my voice track was great. The voice track was excellent. Now here's my question with the voice track. Did they write the script for the voice track and then edit? Very interesting? Did they edit and then write the script. Here's what they did yesterday. So they it aired yesterday evening yesterday morning around eleven am. So you voiced it to that eleven am. No, no, no, She sent me the entire package. They called that a package. Did two package with Billy Bush's voice on it. So he he voiced it um and they called that a scratch track. So what they do is they leave his voice there and then they send me for timing and pacing and to hear how he did it. And then they send me the script they want me to over send send them the lines and then they in their studios replaced Billie Bush's voice over with my voice over. Now, if my phone sucked, let's say I had shitty equipment. See this is where my million dollar fucking sound system comes into play. Everyone had Billy. They had Billy already in case. I had Billy. In case it was unusable because it was like there's an echo and it was awful, or I didn't do things right, or my timing and pacing was off, they would have left Billy and to voice the damn thing. But they actually replaced it because it was good enough to be replaced, which I found to be a high compliment. So yeah, so they said, for your first time, that was excellent. Good. I have a question. You wore three different outfits. What did you wear on your feet? I had my easies on because you don't see those in the shot. Yeah, my eases. Okay, scary. I got a little present for you. You know. I gave you ship a couple of weeks ago about wearing yeasies. Yes, you that song that I gave you and I told you not to listen to Yes, let's play that here? Enjoy everyone? What are you doing? Play the song? The song? I sent you this man play the song You're an asshole. He spends his money took thirty. Yeah, he's trying hard. Indeed. Oh he's an old digger. Way over age two way easy ease. He's spends his mond. Nice saying he's a noose who loves hands his mond. But he like dressing like a high school Scary nine saying they are bad sneakers his mouth, but don't be dressing like a jen Z Scary nine saying he's a bad dressing I was scary, but he's got a dressed like a jen Nex Scary times with me, you're next hands his mouth. He gonna get yourself some new sketches. Scary give a boy, go ahead, give sary pay by times to hick Ah. That was hilarious. I actually love that. What a gift you will? You let that ship right? And speaking of scratch tracks, because one of my singers, the guy at the beginning to Ray Charles, he's in Houston and my other singer is in North Carolina, so I had to sing a scratch track for them sort of ship. No, come on, I don't have it anymore. I deleted off my phone, so you sang it originally for them for some of the lines, like I have to, like, you know, I have to make sure they like the guy in North Carolina. He's the guy who sings start Up, start Up. He's a rapper. But the other guy is not someone I worked with before and doesn't know how to pronounce scary, so you know, come on scary. I had to you know, I had to make sure you understood the phrasing. God. Well, you know something, It's funny you mentioned sketchers because we were talking Ryen Xer and sketcher. Scotty be on today's podcast made a reference. Oh yeah, you go buy your yeasies because because a straight end on our show was talking about the Adidas Ultra Boost because I turned him onto those. The Adidas Ultra Boost is definitely the most comfortable sneaker I've ever put my feet in, and now I own like four or five different varieties. This is not a commercial. But and and when Kanye signed on with his easies to Indidas, all it really is is the same sneaker as an India's Ultra Boost, but it has you know, special features to it, so it's a fucking comfortable sneaker, folks. But wait, Scotty Bee then turns around. He's like, I'll just hang out. I'll still keep my sketchers on. Scott is like the King of Jena, the gen Xers, He's the ultimate gen Xer. So I don't know, but why pigeonhole people? Why is it earmarked that certain stuff can only be worn by certain people of a certain age. It's not I just I just well, that was hilarious. All right, I'll give you. I'll give you credit on it. That was that was great. Now you held that from me. You you embargoed that, you kept it a secret for three weeks. Well, I said, I sent it to you like ten minutes fou started recording. I said, just because you don't have to load it in real time, you can just like suck it in and upload it to your system, to your mega mega million system. There. Um, while we're on the topic of doing things out in public, I think you know again, we have a week or we're about a week away from this New York City Wine and Food festival. Can't wait. Yeah, I would love for the you know, some of the slices to show up. It's Italian night people, It's unlimited Italian food UM at all these outdoor pop ups where you know, all these restaurants that are participating, you could go up to each counter and get just free food handed to you. This is drinks involved. You can get a free sample, get a free right. And I don't understand why, so I want I want to you know, I haven't heard anybody on the text or anybody saying, oh, we want to meet you guys there. It's a very it's a hefty, it's a heavy, heavy price ticket. But the problem is the price of admission is it's charity based, which right, all the food, all the money goes to UM homelessness and food and securities go to food banks. Like they're giving this money to people that need to eat, that want that are basically starving. You know, they're bringing in people to eat to help people who can't have food eat. Right, So you're paying you're paying one price, You're paying a big price. And a lot of these restaurants are pretty much not making they're not making money. They actually pay into being there, and then they're giving out all their food for free for you and me, so join us there. It's this is Pure eighty six on the West Side, which is right by the Intrepid Museum. It's right by the concour plane right, which we talked about last week and the cruise ship area. Now the website is and y c wf F dot org org. Right, New York City Wine and Food Festival. Abbreviate this right. And oh, we got a special discount if you buy general admission tickets because this is yeah, this is for Friday, October fifteenth, general admission tickets for Telly burretta night Elvis ran in the morning show. We was off using code Elvis. Use code Elvis at checkout on the general admission ticket. Alright off boom, all right, and you know you can eat worth of food. You know, I want to talk about another quick promotion we're doing on the Elvis Strand show. This is not this is a bit, This is not a sales thing. So we are we are working with Spirit Halloween Customs, right what we do every year and they are kind enough to tell us every year to pick out a Spirit Halloween custom And so I went to the website knowing exactly what I was hoping they had, and they did. I'm not gonna give away my costume just yet. And very helpful on the website is a little ruler icon that says size chart, which you can click on, and it's it shows you the chests like a small chest size thirty six, waste in seam thirty three. So you look and you go, oh, what size would I be? What's my chest size, what's my waist size, what's my n sam And you can this way you know what size costume to buy? Right sure, And they've got two hundreds something costumes for me to choose from. Again, it's not a commercial, so there's a drop down to pick the size you want for the costume. Great, and again the size chart small, medium, large, plus size, one X and two X. So I was a little confused between what the differences between plus size and one X because usually plus size is extra lodge. So when when you drop down, here are your size choices, Erie Jones, adult, extra large, and standard. That's pretty typical for a lot of costumes. Well, I want on other websites and I saw that, but I think standard. I think you and I would both fit and standard. Here's the problem. Why put up a size chart with small, medium, large, plus size one time too time and not tell you what standard means? How big is standard average, Okay, I think average and above average. I think it's a little, maybe a little. I think plus size people will fit into the but we'll fit into the standard. I think get it beyond that the one x L two X, I think is gonna go for the extra large. But I've i've I've tried on extra large costumes before and they're all like huge. But but two parts here one. Neither of those sizes is listed in the size chart. So that's the problem too. Even if I go extra large and I go all right, extra large could be plus size, could be one x. I get that, But what is standard? What size is standard? Every company calls standard different. It's like medium, what size and medium soda? You don't know in every in every place. Right, So I'm looking, I'm going, well, maybe it's medium, But then I'm looking to go one, two, three, five. There's six sizes. Well, the medium size could be large. It could because because large is closer to the middle, right, medium is only one smaller, the medium is small, and large has to blow it medium, small and three above it. Yeah, but if you if you have an extra small, small, medium, then medium such chart small medium, that's one two, large, three plus size four one x five to x six. Why would I think the number two size was the standard? And most people aren't mediums even though the size is medium America Store, right, which we know, but we also talk with a bunch of small T shirts people and tank tops by some tank tops for your kids. Brooklyn Boys, pink cutel dot com. That's Brooke Boys, pink Cutel dot com. Thank yeah, damn it. I'm gonna go ahead and order the extra large because I'm afraid of the standard. I've never been standard, so I can't imagine when they were picking out standard, They're like, oh, Brody, yeah, that's the standard. So you know, we're living in different times, Brody. Standard now is a little bit more flattering. Yeah, well can I can? I be honest with you, Standard is a little more larger. I don't want to talk about this too much. Standard is large, but it's not. I don't know if it's the new larger. I think it is because according to the charge did you read did you see all these articles that are coming out that that America in general is as obese as ever and we all are larger in general than we were years ago. Because this is the new norm, then larger is the new standard. That's how I look at it. Okay, So I called the corporate office. One guy said, and I think it's a medium. Are you sure? Now that's just my guess. Guess that's not gonna do any good. I mean, that ship is gonna show up at your door by the time you return it and get it back, Halloween's gonna be over right. I called the store and the girl said, that's a great question with no. I love that response. Well, hold on, she said, hold on, let me speak to my manager and collection. No. No, she what she came back. She's very polite. She said, if you're worried about wearing an extra large or a large, then don't get standard. She said, I think the standard might be like between medium and large. Her manager large March. No, she said, the manager knew the answer to it, because obviously they've been asked before. But that's all relative, it's and it's all opinion at that point. There's no their definition of standard. I that's why I didn't know. But what what what's the point of having a size chart if the two sizes and you dropped down, neither one of them is on the side that's also because most people don't know their sizes, and I don't know my fucking sizes. What's my inseam? What's my your in seam? Is your is your pant leg? Okay? Your length? The length? What about my m A bunch of waste? Way, there's waste. Yeah, there's so many sizes. No, when I get measured for a suit, there's like ten different measurements on there, I booge. The average person has three measurements sizes a suit. What are they king of clothing for? For your waist size, you're in seam, your sleeve length, in your chest? That's it for four things they measure. Like if you go buy a suit, the jacket, you go for the chest, Like do you measure your chest across your boobs? Most people don't know that, but you don't measure it. I measure my stomach. You measure right under the boob area. But like if you put on if you try and jackets and you go to Macy's, right and you try it on suits, you're gonna wear thirty eight, forty two, forty four, forty six, that's your chest size. You have to measure you put the jacket on. Is it comfortable. Can you raise your own right? You need to know your waist size, and you know what sucks if you like if you're like you have like if you work out or you fat your big chest, but you have like a small waist, maybe you gotta have it taken in let out. They don't match. So sometimes back in the day, I used to like, I used to like take a suit jacket. It didn't match the pants, which is wrong. It made me terrible human being at the time. But you gotta buy what you gotta buy. But here's what I'll say to you. You'll be very proud of me about I'm gonna say it's almost three weeks now. I've only had red meat once and that was on the cruise. I had half of my steak, which I've never done in my life. I have not had Chinese food or pizza in three weeks, Brody, I have been eating salad and hummus. Have you been cooking? Have you been cooking? I have been cooking my own meals. Shut up? Are you down some weight? I am? I am. I am lower now than I've been in maybe four years. From congratulate as dude, I'm still but it's not at the point where it's noticeable to most people. Yet it's noticeable to me in the scale. But my point was, I'm eating salad. I'm buying bags of romaine, Brodi, hold on, you don't eat salad. It's green. What's going on? Hold On? I eat salad, I eat caesar salad, I eat lettuce, I eat carrots and tomato, and I eat peeled cucumber. So that's what I'm eating. I bought shredded carrots. Are you okay? I bought I bought a low fat sesame ginger dressing. No, you did? Yeah? Who am I speaking to on the other end of this? That's what I'm always this, David Brody, Are you an impostor? It's just a Scooby New episode where you gonna rip off your fucking head and someone else is gonna be those who was the lion meddling meddling kids, meddling kids. You pull off my mask. It's two thousand five, Rodi. Congratulations, bro Listen, it's not worth talking about. Is I have Chinese food tomorrow? Then I'm back I'm back in. Well, guess what, in about seven days from now, you're gonna be eating a lot of Italian food at our right. I'm making sure I get ready so I can have a nice evening of of you know, you know what. That would be a wonderful reward. That's proud of you, man, I am, I really am bro So that leads thank you, and that leads me to my next question. I was looking to buy a bag of frozen chicken breasts, plain that I can marinate with something healthy that I want to marinate me. Right, So I go to shop right and they have a bag of low fat, skinless chicken breasts, just what I wanted, and on the bag as their big selling point, it says vegetarian fed frozen chicken. That's good. Okay. I don't want to know the scientific explanation, but to me it sounded stupid. Why do I give a ship if the chicken eate vegetary and I'm about to eat chicken because of you are what you mean? So the chicken is what it eat, I'll tell you what it's That's a problem for me. If you're telling me the chicken is better because it ate vegetables, then why am I buying chicken? I should go buy a salad. This is true. You're telling me not to buy this food because you wouldn't give chicken to the chicken. You don't want to give splitter off eating salad, then I'm gonna eat salad. Yeah, that's true. That is very true. That is I'm not going to disagree with that statement. But the fact is you're in the mood for chicken. Is a better chicken. You're eating a healthier chicken. You're eating. Why wouldn't I eat a healthier meal? You could, and you did, and you have, You've eaten salad. So that was part of my motivation. If you're not given, if you're not giving chicken to the chicken, or meat to the chicken, chicken, chicken, that's cannibalism, right. Well, you you guys have tried to eat. I tried to actually give turkey to turkey. Okay, you just said I tried to eat and I thought you were gonna say human beings. No, I tried. We had live turkeys in the studio and turkeys to the turkeys. For turkeys to the turkeys. They would need it because they know about them. Do they sense it was themselves like, oh no, eating my own flesh and blood. No, but think about it for a second. Here, you you're actually making a conscious effort to eat healthier food. Now, if you if you're craving chicken and you don't want salad on Thursday and on Friday, like I'm gonna have chicken tonight, you might as well get the healthiest option there and a vegetarian filled chicken as opposed to corn. A lot of times they eat like corn and corns. A vegetable corn is not a vegetable. It's a starch, but it's a vegetable corn. In my world, if you said we'll vegetab corn feed corn and fruit, they feed other crap to the chickens, that's not But if it's a vegetarian, it's a vegetarian fed chicken, then you're getting a better quality chicken. You just have to just take it at word that it's a good thing and it doesn't taste any different. But what it's consistent of is healthy. And most people like, you're fucking scary. Come on now, it's too much, it's give me a break, but it's it really is true. Dr Oz will tell you this too. Medical people they'll tell you no, it's just it seemed like they were trying to talk me out of it. Come on, no, they're not. I got some sound? Can I play two clips? I got any I want some clips and we take another break, So take another Which one you want to do first? Any meany Mighty Mos podcast? Okay, So I'm gonna play a clip off my phone. I didn't send you. The Yankees had a one game playoff with the Red Sox. You guys may have heard this on the Big Show. I gave it to Garrett to play, and I'm sure he had it already, but I have to my email because I send it to Garrett, who does sound like that. I don't know why you do that, but if you don't, people get upset. I hear that. So yeah, John Sterling is one of the classic worst announcers in baseball. If you're not a Yankee fan, he's horrific, And if you're a Yankee fan's horrific. He's horrific. My friends were Yankee fans and make fun of him. So part of the part of the problem is he's older and doesn't see well. So I'm going to explain really why this happened. But even when he's in the stadium, he often calls like pop ups, long fly balls, he calls home runs, fly ballsall here. It's just so you know, the announcers are not traveling with the team all the time. The radio announcers are staying in New York. If you're a New York baseball team, like the Mets announcers, they don't go to Philadelphia. They watch a TV monitor in New York because of COVID protocols, and they and actually travel with the radio people and the radio people. The TV people are there, but the radio people are not. So I want you to hear John Sterling. Now, if you're familiar with the baseball stadium in Boston, the Green Monsters in left field. So the stadium is built in the middle of Boston, and they couldn't make it as big as they wanted. So because they couldn't make the wall further away, they made the wall very high to accommodate. That's the story. Bind While the wall is gigantic, I think it's like thirty three ft high something like that. Yeah, So a lot of times when you hit a home run or you hit a fly ball, it looks like a home run it goes really far, but then it hits the wall right. So if you hit a ball hard and low. It'll be hit the wall, but in a regular stadium would be a home run. So you have to hit the ball like a really high blooping ball and go over to this fence. John Carlos Stanton, who plays for the Yankees, hits the ball like harder than almost every other player in baseball. He hits a blast off the top of the wall. Okay, I want you to hear the call of the ball and John Sterling, let me get this. Make sure I have it loud enough. It's one of my favorites of the year. Goes left, it is high, hit us far. That is god out of a ballpark. He stand tony at home run? What did what did I do wrong? Why did I see wrong? He's a first base It was a single. John. Yeah. So not only does John always go it is high, it is far, is gone. Then he uses a catchphrase. We've talked about that on this podcast before. Had a bomb from a rod whatever your name is right, Oh, I'm Jones, and for a home run like that's what he does. He's like whenever the can get a new player to figure out, everybody stand for the judge right right brod difference bomb from Brody like that's what he would do. He cop with some goofy thing, so he even did that. I'll stand Tony in home run. Wait a minute, he's on first. Yeah, I love that. Okay, he got some more sound that we gotta play. We do? We have Jacob Degram. This is before the Mets um disastrous ending to their season. Okay, I generally genuinely don't remember what this clip is, so I know what it is. It's another common mistake grammatically that I don't remember if it's we've we've talked about in a while, But go ahead and played the clip. Okay, here we go. One thing you do know is Jacob Degram needs to be ready to go for this Mets team and be the top of that rotation next season. He was on historical run before he went this season. Yea and historical run. Yeah, it's historic. Historical means it's the study of the historical. So it's it's a story and historical run. It's a history running, right, right, double mistake in one word, right, it's historic meaning it's it'll make history. Historical is the study of history. Okay, what else you got for me? I have um the Chiefs running back or running Oh okay, so they're talking about a running back of the Chiefs from a few years ago. This is on the Fantasy Football show, and they can't remember his name. Now you know, you might say, oh, that was on the tip of my tongue. Yes, like, oh, I I get, I get. I could hear the name, but I can't tell me what this means. What the second guy says of this guy, this running back to the Chiefs that I had a great free seon who was not Oh my goodness, oh man, I can't think of the gay it's coming to mind. I can't think of the guy that's coming to mind. What does that mean? What he meant to say was there's someone in his mind, but he doesn't know the name, or it's not coming to my But you can't. I can't think of the guy that's coming to mind. I can't think of the guy just running back to the Chiefs that had a great free season who was not Oh my goodness, oh man, I can't think of the gay it's coming to mind. Yeah, I I can't think of the guy meaning he has a guy in mind, he doesn't know his name, but he's coming to mind. But he's coming to mind. It's coming to mind, but that's not himself. Yeah. Now do you remember, do you have the clip of the bad classic rock DJ from a few weeks ago? Yes, let's play that because I don't um Channel eight. No, no the UM, I'll play off my phone. And we had Katie Babs, we had no no, the guy who was like talking to the song man. No, I don't know. Here's the bad Party. I hope you're having a good Saturday, happy fourth of July weekend, big rock and roll radio program for you. Today, we have Billy Corgan answering the question that we've been asking our selves for years. Billy, would you please answer the question for us? Now, what, sir, is the world? The world is? Yes? From last week and the fourth of July. Yeah, yeah, well that was a few yeah, that was it was a few months ago. It was yeah, it was a while, all right. So I so I thought that guy was the worst the way he stalls, right, I found somebody worse. Now this it's not the same guy. It's gonna sound like the same guy. It's not the same guy. This guy also does a stupid set up to talk to the song here's the problem. The song he's talking to has about a one minute introduction of music lyrics, So I edited it so that eventually the lyrics come in, so it's not as long as the real song. But listen to the fucking setup of this guy and you'll hear you'll see it coming a mile away. It's so stupid. He felt like he needed to fill the entire space of the minute. Well, no, no he doesn't. That's what's worse. He lets he talks to the intro and then lets nothing but dead music go by for a minute before the answer to the question comes up. Oh god, so I edited it. But here's the thing. This song he's referencing is from Do you really think that we don't know the answer to this question? Play the clip NFL Radio, Okay, that was channel. I want the classic Oh this one? Okay? I have bad Classic, Yeah, bad Classic Rock Tommy London and for Bob Buckman today on Classic rewind playing Cassette era classic rock for you on this Saturday, And I just want to start the show off by saying, there are many mysteries in life. You know, a lot of people are curious about Bigfoot, and a lot missmonster, alien UFOs even goes, but not me. For me, the biggest mystery in life is whatever did happen to Tommy and Gina? Oh? My god? Like out forty seconds there. So not only did he ask you pointless question, Oh, some people care about the Locknest Monster and some people care about big Foot. Not me, Brody, I think you I have to I have to actually correct to you on this. He he asked whatever happened to them? Right? He was reminiscing. He he knows the He knows that the audience knows the lyrics and Tommy and Gina the story that John bon Jovi is about to tell in the song hold On. So he's just trying to say whatever, whatever happened to them? And then he just let the music go because he didn't have anything else to say. He was not talking up to the to the lyric on that one. I just having this song answer him. No, yes, no, I disagree with you on that. Even if even if you don't think he was talking to the song. Let's play this again, hold On, even if you don't think he was talking to the song. It's a moronic intro. It's well not to much moronic. And then you have to wait a minute to know what he's talking about. If you don't remember, Tommy used to work on the docks, Gina, dreams are running the wayst works in a diner. Whatever. So you're trying to say he needed to talk all the way to the lyric, I'm saying that would have been less worse had he done that this way he sets up. I want to know what happened Tommy and Gina. I need to hear it. I wonder whatever happened to them. You know what happened to them. It's a thirty five year old song, you dumbass. Everyone listening to the classic rock station knows what happened. What do you need an intro like that? Just like his Bung Jovi, oh Man, Tommy London and for Bob Buckman today on Classic rewind playing cassette Eric Classic Rock for you on this Saturday. And I just want to start the show off by saying, there are many mysteries in life. That's a mystery. Now. A lot of people are curious about big Foot, and a lot missmonstered aliens, UFOs, even ghosts, but not me. For me, the biggest mystery in life is to mister whatever did happen to Tommy? And yeah, it's a mystery scary So okay, First of all, the first part of that is he was not talking to the song on that. We can we agree on that, and he wasn't. No, I'll tell you why he was, because the song it tells the story. No, he says what happened to them? And then bon Jovi says, well, Tommy used to work on the docks. He's answering him. No, he's talking in the present tense, like you know that old Bonovi song. No, he didn't say you know that old He said it like it's a great mystery of life, like aliens, whatever happened to them? We all know what happened to them. And by the way, that's not what happened to them. That's your life story. It's corneous. Fuck, no doubt. That was a shitty break. But I once again, I'm gonna tell you that I think he's not talking to the lyrics. He's not specifically speaking about what happened to them in that song. Of course he is, no, because everyone listening to the everyone listening to his channel right now. He knows the lyrics to the song, so they know they're gonna give us while you're wrong. If he had said, you know what we heard what happened to these Tommy and Geene in the eighties, I wonder where they are now, that's what you're talking about. He said, that's what he meant to do. That's what he was trying to do. He said, whatever happened to them? Tommy used to work on that. Then bon Jovi tells him, what, that's a complete mismatch. No, because here's what you're doing. You're saying, Oh, it was god awful, but it wasn't super god awful. It was still pretty shitty. Yeah, all right, that's sort of the mysteries of life. I gotta know what happened to Tommy and Gina from right up there with the Locknett monster. Right. Oh, I've been waiting for thirty five years. What happened to them? What John's gonna tell me? You know, I do find it peculiar that you're listening to you the cassette rock hold on. First of all, sorry, I like classic rock. The fact that they call a cassette era that listen, it's eighties rock, right, it's it's nineties rock. I like Van Halen. So what am I gonna listen to? Alright, I'm not gonna listen to pop music of only a Van Halen. So I flip around, you know, listen everything. I listen to Top forty. I listened to rock, hard rock, new rock. I listen all of it. Now, I've got one more clip. You gotta clip. This is yes, I do hi now scary. Basically, we're getting through this ahead, Yes, we're gonna get through it. I want to just point out how it's a bad promo. You may not know why this is a bad promo, but I'll explain it afterwards. If you're a classic rock fan, hold on, Wow, you're shipping on me already. Ahead, if you're a classic rock fan, already you'll know why this is wrong, not scary from a radio standpoint. When I explain it, I want you to explain to people why it's bad. Alay, play the clip. Forty years ago, these songs rolled the radio. Okay, I gotta hear that again. These songs rulled the radio. The radio that didn't rule the radio. That one did. The first one did too. Yeah, So here's the problem. Those are not songs that ruled the radio. One you will correct scary the first one in the third, first one in the third one, the second one did not one. You know what they were playing from a C d C. You shook me on and shook me all that long? You know when That song is from six You Shook Me all night Long from Dirty Deed's Done Dirt Cheaper is from I bet you they put the wrong song hook and put the wrong song. Yeah, I know that song right, you should be all night long? It's from but it may have still been playing on the radio. And eight one because it's a classic, I understood, But they were not playing old a C d C from nineteen seventy six, five years later on pop radio. So somebody, somebody fucked up, right, they got that I did not. I would not have. I did not know that song, so you wouldn't. But you knew what was did even the way it was not a radio right, great song, great song and very one of the best parodies ever by Bob Rivers Dirty Deed's Done with Sheep? Do I want to know what that is? Well, it's a funny parody done with sheep, right and uh now, yeah, go ahead? I did you want to read some email and some things like that. Yeah, I got a couple of things, and then I got I gotta tell you about my food story. And then well and then people got here. Yeah. Well actually they're already out of here their home or there in the ours. All right, so let's do some Okay, Oh no, I wont more piece of sound? What is it? It's not on here? No, I got it from me. It's on your phone, said jingle. This is a jingle so prepared today. I am prepared. It's right here on my phone. This is a jingle that you've all heard. It's catchy as hell. I did not know what they were saying. I googled it for hours, could not find the lyric. I finally found it, and I'll tell you next week if you haven't figured it out yet. What scary are they saying in this jingle? Eliminate voters? It refreshes you're lately weren't voting? What are they saying something? Something for breeze la. So to me, it sounds like we have B B B that's it. That's all I hear for Breeze is the product. And what beat pop beat for Breeze? Let me hear it again? Yeah, you tell me what they're saying. This commercial and similar commercials from their company used the jinglething we're free for breeze. What do I say we have free breeze? Right, that's not what you're saying. Wow, that's pretty shitty when I tell you what they say, Like, I want you guys to go figure out if you can figure it out. Oh yeah again again again, Okay, you're lately warn't clothing? What are they saying? Wow, someone someone spent money on that. It's in every one of their commercials. But it's terrible because no one knows what they're saying, right, They never gave much thought. So so after like six months of the campaign, I finally said, you know what, I don't know what you're saying because in the car, I'm like, bea breezes la la la la la, And I guess they're putting for breeze in my head because the catchy jingle mother not a sponsor in this podcast. If they'd like to be, that's fine, but that's like, you know what, I'm gonna google it. I fined if I searched for for brief jingle lyrics on Google La la la la la. But I'm sure like this. This redded page is devoted to it. It took me a very long time, and this reddit pages with the wrong guesses. When you slow it down, you can make out what you're saying. Is it written anywhere or definitely? I found one web page where they got it right, and it wasn't like it. It wasn't actually spent time on this. I had some free time watching TV at night, so it's like, I'm gonna just google while I'm watching TV while you eat your salad. I was eating my salad, you know, do I caught up a little piece of chicken in the salad? Who is this man? I know? Who are you? I know? And I feel like, oh I got ate too much and then I lose a pound and a half. That's great. That change like it's time welcome. You've got mail. You can always that jingles old. It's very old. We should replace it. That's blues jingle. Yeah. Yeah, he's everything old is new again, isn't Steve? You know? He was just in the news recently without fail email. We should make a Brook Boys commercial bumper, Yeah, Glen Boys podcast. We'll be We'll be right back. Yeah, I'll get I can get that done for next week. We will be right back the Brooke Glenn Boys podcast. We will be right back there. It is Boom created on the spot anyway. Brandy Simmons writes to us or Simon's advice from a successful show. I'm sure you guys get this a lot, but i was hoping to get a little advice. I've had people tell me for years to do a podcast. I'm seriously considering it. Google will guide me through the obvious steps. So I'm turning to you for something deeper. You both have success podcasts. You have them with each other and you have them on your own. What advice do you have? How do I build an audience platform? Should I should use or stay away from? If you have a few words of wisdom, I would be grateful. I know you're all super busy and hard working, no pressure. Thank you guys so much. Love you guys. That's Brandy root Kowski. First of all, Jingles, I would change your name for you. Don't like I'm kidding. I'm with your Brandy. The first part is have a sense of humor you have. Brandy is a great girl. I couldn't marry her if she took my name because you'd be Brandy Brody as long as it's not wine wine Brandy wine. I know, I know, I know. Last name. Speaking of our other successful podcasts. By the way, thank you for bringing those up. Brooklyn Boys at big hotail dot com. Gonna get you walkers and talking shirts. Yeahs, yes, you have any speaking volumes merchandise yet? Yes, yes, yes, yes I do have some speaking Oh you're talking about my other podcast. Snap out of it. No, I see what you did there. You did a little bait and switch. I thought you were still talking. I think you went back to talking about Brooklyn Boys, but instead you turned it on me. You turned it on me. I'm plugging your other podcast. I'm not a good co host. No, you're like we gotta walk as a talkers T shirt. I wanted you to plug your other I don't know if you do not have merchant. I'm not issuing merch right now. It's your co host would look great in a tank top or a T shirt cut off? Well okay, yeah, okay, share is beautiful you. I wouldn't put a shirt on you and try to say I don't know, I don't know, and I don't I don't really know if our logo is worthy. We we'll see you know we've been talking about others. I would speaking volumes, T shirt and advertise for you. Would you really? Yeah? And we'd have to pay you say that. Let's give Brandy some quick advice. And then for anybody starting a podcast, I'm gonna let me start. Let me let me say one thing. And by the way, murders only murders in the building on Hulu is about a podcast. Be you be unapologie ethically. You don't read from scripts, do not do not on hold on it says here, only read from scripts when it's ay sales. I'm sorry, ahead, sorry, and make sure you are animated in your voice. I don't understand halfimate. I don't know. I'm just like you're on a cartoon cartoon. What I'm trying to say is speak like you would normally speak. I don't understand half over half the podcast where they sound like NPR. They're talking like this a murder podcast. They sposed to know. But there are regular podcasts that some of the other ones. I don't want to point people out and listenable. I've I've sampled so many podcasts. Be be animated, speak about what you want to talk about and and use your own language and don't read off a script. Now you should come in with some bullet points of things that you may want to come also match the energy of your co host or co hosts. Yeah, there's a huge podcast and it's three celebrities. So I happened to be a big fan of and I think I talked about the smallest. Two of them are high energy and one of them is not. And it magnifies how un high energy the guy is. And he's normally in life of high energy guy. So it's it's awkward sounding. So and and they have great contents, a great podcast, but they need to match each other's energy. And how do you start it? Well, you can upload. There's some really cheap ways of getting a host. When I say host, I mean a host website, because you every every podcast needs a podcast uploader, a place for you to go to put the audio in and send it out to the world. Now you can put it on YouTube at first or SoundCloud. You could use for free. You could use spreaker speakers a great one, right, But if you want to just go easy and see, like, oh, I don't want to go to a lot of trouble. I'll just put it on Soundclouder or YouTube. And the more and the more fancy bells and whistles and things that you can do with these uploaders, the more expensive you're gonna pay anymore. It's gonna be per month. So or get a job with a multibility dollar media company and then they pay for it for you. There is that Who are those people? That's us. We don't pay for our hosting site. No shiplock, so that thank you, We appreciate you, my heart. But but yes, but definitely do that. And then and it's really easy. All you need is a phone you could actually eat, get a dollar and a dream. Yeah, well you don't need to even need fancy equipment. You could use the crap you know what, the microphone, the Yetti blue microphone that I have, it's the blue Yettie. Sorry, it's a hundred dollars on sale Target this week and a hundred bucks. Hundred bucks, dude, I'll buy four of them. Yeah you would. I wouldn't, but yeah, but it's easy to do. And then you just have to buy the adapters for your phone or iPad or whatever, your or laptop or you needed a laptop and a usp mic and then you can download free software from Audacity. Yes, that's right, Audacity or Odyssey. No Odyssey is a radio company. That's right Audacity. So yeah. But now as far as content goes um some say, some people say, be niche. Be niche, Like, if you're a niche, if you're a fan of UFOs and aliens, go go hard in that direction. Be very what's your angle on it? What's your take on it? Well she has I don't know what Brandy Simons is into, but if there's something specific to her and it's not And also make sure the category that you want to talk about is not saturated. Well I just said that, find your own niche. You know, we are boss made us by a book called twenty two Immutable Laws of Marketing. Actually he gave us copies of it. He didn't make us buy it, and he told us all to read it. And one of the things in the book is, first of all, never be third in the market and anything in any category, because nobody remembers the third. In other words, there's always cooking pepsi, but no one remembers that. No one cares about the third one. Right, this in sync and Backstreet Boys. But the third band at the time was Degrees, which was okay, but it was never gonna rise to the level of the first two. That's right. So when you were wins. So what he said was what seven Up did was created their own wrong on a lot, they create their own ladder. Rather than be a third cola, They're like, we're gonna be and seven Up became its own category. So so you think of findin so see what's out there place for you. So, by the way, what are we because if I always we are not, we are general we're general? Are we a niche and we are general interest? Are we at general interest podcast? Well we're from Brooklyn, So it's like one of those niche things. So it's like two Brooklyn guys take on the world. Yeah, but it's that take on. But we do we don't just talk about from We don't talk about I mean, we talk about everything. Yeah. If there's two other Brooklyn guys talking about grammar, police and customer service and clubbing and he's doing a weird morning of crazy morning show, it's really just we don't plan this. We could we go you're ready to record scary goes? Yeah? You got something goes yeah, an you hear the podcast, and then we have things that just happened in the podcast. Alright, some of the ship hasn't planned we talked about. I mean, look at Joe Rogan. I mean he has probably he has the most successful podcast arguably right now. Yes he does. Yeah, he's got millions and millions of dollars. But you know, call her daddy, I hate, but you're bringing her into it now, bringing up I did this time. I mean, look at I'll tell you what I want to go see Joe Rogan over the weekend. He was fucking awesome. He sold out Madison Square Guarden. You could not get tickets for that show. And what he did on stage had nothing to do with what he does in his podcast. It was all like you know, you know, like typical comedian stuff. It was it was man woman sex, cheating, uh, you know, all kinds of fun ship. But anyway, that said, Brandy, good luck to you. Yeah, find your angle like I'll give you for instance, Brandy, everybody else listening, So I do a Walking Dead podcast with Jamie. You guys know that walkers and talkers, but a lot of people do Walking Dead podcasts. So here's why ours is different. I believe Number one, we have access to a lot of the people on the show. So we've interviewed a lot of the people, the directors, the makeup people, uh, a lot of the stars of of of the show that other podcast don't have access to. Right, that's a that's a big difference for us. Also, I've found that none of them are funny, and so I go out of my way to try and make funny commentary about the show. So we have stick and catch phrases like we do here. And for people listen to both podcasts, you know what I'm talking about. I pick on Jamie, She's hilarious. Um, she constantly puts her foot in her mouth, which is hilarious, and it's a different So it's not your typical. Yeah, so then the walker came and killed it's not it's not a typical. So you have to find what is your angle on UFOs that makes it different, Otherwise I'm gonna listen to other ones that is correct. So yeah, so be great at what you do. Make sure you the authority number one, be great. I think that's now. Now, all right, here's another email. This one came in it's a question from Brenda Dowling. By the way, you can always email us The Brooklyn Boys Podcast at gmail dot com. Brodie got a question for you. Are used to selling your old records. My daughter got a record player for her birthday, and I remembered you mentioned your customer service experience in the record store. I'm positive because he came in on Thursday. Well, you read me something about buying selling my records? So did I Yeah? When did this come in? No? No, So I don't want to give a different answer now because maybe maybe I did go back and listen when my answer was maybe I did. Well, I'll answer again. What's now relevant today? I'm not. I have not listed the record collection yet, but I do have a milk right next to me full of Frank Sinatra albums. So if you're a fan of Franks and but you would have to get my albums, you buy it from anybody. Everybody's everybody's selling everything. You're not selling your E C DC albums? No, hell no? Well anyway, Andrew, Okay, a lot of them are having frames in my uh my office. Andrea Ludwig she emailed us too, so yeah, so yeah, not for Brodie's record collection not for sell Andrew Love not yet, not yet? Hey writing because of the catch up story, I thought Brodie would find funny. A few nights ago, we had a family dinner at my house and my parents house rather, and of course I brought my brand new bottle of Hinds Catchup, since I put that ship on everything. After getting home, I asked my husband where's my catchup, to which he said, oh, man, I forgot to grab it. I respond with, will you better take your ass back there and get it? I just bought that, Lucky for him, my parents only live three doors away. I'm laughing writing about this, and I hope this uh does that for the both of you. Sending all the love that I have. Slice for life. We don't put ketchup on pizza here, by the way, Yeah, slice for luck. Thank you so much. Uh, that is very funny. Um. How far would I travel for the bottle of catch up I left at someone's house? Probably not much more than three doors away. Well, if it's try, I'd like to get in my car. You could keep my fucking catch up. We'll catch up lasts a while. But here's what I'd say, I'd make your husband. Go to the store which is probably closer to replace fresh bottle, but not a large bottle. Get a small bottle so that you have enough to get you until you get your old bottle back the old bottle, you know. Alright? Cool? And uh so that's just a couple of pieces of email. You have something here, and I gotta, I gotta, I gotta mention this guy because he's a good listener and a good a good tweeter, and I gotta call him out on something. So, um, I gotta. He wanted me to call him something specific. I don't have that one. I didn't screenshot that so we could do it next week. No, No, John, So Jonathan Schwartz on Twitter, that's j. E. M. Schwartz five. He wanted me to call He wants me to call him Jonathan from Savannah, Georgia. He made a request on how to refer to him if I mentioned him on the podcast. So he's asking a lot for me, Jonathan from Savannah, Georgia. But I'm going ahead and do that. So Jonathan sent me a um a poorly written headline that took me seven tweets to figure out where it was from and who wrote it because every time I asked them he said, oh, it's YouTube specific gift. I capling, but who wrote it? It was on YouTube? But did you write it? I couldn't figure. Okay, here's what it said. What what it amounts to is a a human being posted this response to YouTube getting rid of certain channels. If you cancel those channels, I will cancel my purse prescription and tell everybody that I and tell everybody that I've told to describe to YouTube to cancel. There's th ch E r E A awful, awful, awful. So it was poorly written and and so here's what I'm calling Jonathan out. Jonathan sent me this two weeks ago, okay, and I didn't get to it two episodes ago. And then he asked me last week and he said, are you gonna put it on this week? I said, I'm gonna try. I didn't get to a lot of stuff from my phone last week. And then after the podcast was up for a day, he tweeted me and said, hey, did you get a chance to do my grammar police, to which I responded, you know, you can go listen to the podcast and find out, like, don't don't ask me two days after whatever, it's been a couple of it was a couple of days. I'm like, hey, go listen. So I hope Jonathan, I'm sorry Jonathan from Savannah, Georgia, who I'm still a big fan of. I love you that you've heard this now and appreciate it. Now. I have one more that i've been I mean, it's taking me two months now from Rachel de Young. It could be de Young, but it's spelled d E y O n G. She bought. I want to say. It's a fan. It's a hand fan, a hand fan. You know, he's holding your hand. Now. I didn't circle anything because that she sent me a jpeg and I couldn't print it. But what it looks like is the fan was written in some Asian language and then they translated it directly to English. And you know when you translate like Japanese to English or or or Chinese. Right, So I'm gonna read this and forgive me if it sounds I may read a sentence that sounds legit mobile or chargeable portable multi scene using small fan. The sculpt is fresh and lovely, and the mini is light. The wind is super strong, though it is hot. Summer. It will make you fall in love with this summer. Um. Let's see. Oh the after charging, pushpower button and use. The fan can be used as a handheld fan, desktop fan winding by carriage student hostile, the lower bed, the ship, airing of the bicycle, the rear seat of the car the fan. When you connect micro USB cable and charging adapted to input the main body LED charging lights will light up and charging begins. The red LED does when fully charging. Um, all right, we can stop right down. Nope, don't put your fingers into the fan. Children under ten years have to assisted by guardian. Um. Do not knock. This is just wrong on several levels. Do not knock. This is These are language barriers. This is not this is not grammar. Police horrible, I feel terrible. This is not a grammar issue. It's a lost in translation issue. That's just it. It's when you Google translate things, they don't always translate. They don't, so you can't blame the person, blame the Google. Looking at the actual diagram, it shows you the charging port, the battery, the power and the handle says d E f O R M A b l E the deformable foot. So this is a situation where they should have hired someone that's spoken, probably because I don't think this is someone with poor grammar. I think this is someone with fine grammar who just translated it literally. And I promised, I promised h Mr Young that I would read that for her, like a month ago. I didn't get a chance to do that. It is, it is very very funny. I just I feel like I'm I feel wrong for laughing at it if I'm going to help, because I now have to call out one more listener, and I have an email, another email that of a compliment from one of our merchant. Hold the couple in for a second, well speaking to merchant. Uh, okay, so we gotta go. We're having us up calling out Justin the real kick Low, who we've talked about, big time tweeter, big fan of the show. He posted a picture of himself wearing the some Dumb Podcast Chinese menu shirt that he got at Brooklyn Boys dot Big Cartel dot com. That's Brooklyn Boys dot Big Cartel dot com. Right, But he's holding what looks like to be an iced tea in a pre printed glass refillable jug with a straw. Okay, and it's there's a name of a company on it, and he tagged the name of the company, and so I'm like, I wonder why he did that, and so I he sells the product. He sells the product, so good vibes five eighteen nutrition is on the cup, and so he takes I'm gonna give him a free plug here for cleverness. He knew I would probably repost the picture, and you did, and I did, and therefore I promoted the product he selling. I'm assuming it's like it's like Lula Row that's rot Dana Fields, he said, some pyramid schemes. We say, we see you out there. Kick Low all right and Kristen Marie Yes, episode throwback answer to a question also starting off with this, that's six. Yeah. First of all, I want to thank you guys for the merch. The fart water shirt is fucking awesome, and the phone card holder that I got with it was even better. It was a surprise. You don't guess what that's exactly where? Then got a phone card holder that's a VA VAX card holder. Oh no, no, no, I think um the card hold We also had the Brooklyn Boys card holders that stuck to the back of the phone there's been okay, Just so you know, our merch supplier sometimes throws these little easter eggs into the Uh, Matt is fucking awesome. Sometimes if he's got new stuff laying around, like he'll throw a VAX card holder, he'll throw phone charge holders in as a special sanitary wife. You never know when you never know what you're gonna get in addition to what you've already paid for. So our boy Matt has already sent us for something. We're not gonna go there yet, so Kristen continues. Anyway, I wanted to comment on the recording for the Dude in the Bathroom. Basically, Brody played some sound of what he heard at his daughter's dorm men's room. Guy, you have it, pull it up. In the meantime, we don't choice anyway. Uh So, I'm pretty sure he was doing dope. Yeah, almost could guarantee it been been there, been clean now for almost two years. But I know these sounds when you're having trouble getting um. I don't know how to explain it without being too graphic, but you can't hit the right spot. But you pretty positive dude wasn't shipping or jerking off he was banging l O L. There you go, slide for motherfucking life. Kristin Murray, I'm now my head is I'm scratching my head. Here a second. She's saying he was getting high. Yeah, he's saying he was. Well, listen here hold On was breathing out. I'm still saying he was. Now he was jerking the g Maybe he was blumpkinting himself because honestly, the flush came too soon after flush, because he got up and left right and then and there was that he did not wipe his ass. The only way he could have taken a dump was in he took a ship, hit the flush button and did not wipe his ass because the second hit the flush button, you went over there and you saw there was no toilet paper in there, and the guy left. Get out of here. The guy was working off. Well. Here's the thing though, scary, and I don't want to get graphic, but you gotta take a second or two after that too. You can't just flip the underweb back up. I don't know. You might get a little afterage, you get a little post. He thinks he was he was on drugs. He was doing some some drugs. But I wouldn't doing the drugs be more. This was like, oh, he was either pushing a pulling, pushing the pulling, pushing or pulling. All right, if you have a chance, watch my Sebastian Maniscalco interview. It's it's on YouTube, and give me your best critique. I got thick skin. Come on, tell you I've come a long way. It's my humble beginnings in Brooklyn Boys Boys
