Speaker 1: Brodyan scary. I like the lights on, I can't read. You're the worst. You have headphones. By the way, there's people that's your coat whose code is that? Check check? Did your headphone work this time? Because last time you were like, who's doing to one channel? And he was just deployed, so you could go brody and scary. That's that's not what I said last week. I know, but that's what I just said, Dick, start up, start up, Brooklyn Buy start up, Brooklyn buy data. They're making noise data. Welcome to the Brooklyn Boys podcastle Yeah, there's a real problem. Hold on, you're interrupting. I'm brody, He's scary. Episode sixteen, sweet sixteen. You know what, dude, what what problem is? It's not a joke, it's not a ploy hashtag DJ problems. So just two weeks in a row studio is off balance. You're off balance. Sit down. I'm just gonna do it with one ear. Okay, there's an ethernet jack underneath. You unplug it and plug it back in. It'll fix that problem underneath that box. Here's the thing, fucking episode in the row where we're not in our regular studio. Whose fault was it last time yours? Because you wanted to do it on a Friday, And on Friday they run the Saturday Best of show, so we can't use that studio for the Office rd Morning Show, the Saturday replay show. When you wake up on Saturday, we're on. I don't know if other people know that. I feel like I'm at a college radio station in the here. Your college radio stations nicer than this old studio. There you go, you got it. I guess alright, the teacher became the master. Just now. It's a sixty split in my ears, and that seems fair. It's gonna make talent on this show. I'm sixty, by the way, all right now, I'm just not focused right now. Just just just keep going off on your with your jokes, with my joke, you and your ha haas and you who who's and your yakut yaks and you and that don't talk backs. By the way, nice reference. We got a lot of tweets and Instagram people was sliding into my d MS on Instagram. Not really the way that it's sliding into d MS is meant to be, but um, people have been binging this show. This podcast was so fascinated to hear this. Look, I'm impressed that someone can listen for the for the hour that we do this thing, But to listen to four or five hours in a row, you gotta have a problem. I mean, thank you, very boring job in the overnight that lets you do that. But you know, I noticed a lot of people binge on long trips. I get binging stranger things, get it, I binge. I get binging any any show, But this show, this seems like like it should be binge proof. Like after an hour, you go, it's the same ship. These guys are gonna ranp them out down No, no, no, They're gonna read emails about this. And I think people like it. I think people are enjoying what we're doing. I just think it's intense, Like I think a lot of it's a lot of us. I've tried to I try to dial it back because I'm like, am I being too loud? Am I being too too in people's face? Like I don't even know how our boss Elvis puts up with us for the whole week, Like by Friday, he's gotta be like he's binges us for the whole week. So yeah, it would be nice if he binged us. Yeah, he hasn't listened to a minute of this, by the way, tweet at Elvis Durant and let him know that's that was my next that you liked the brook because he's okay. So Elvis, based on what he knows of us in our studio during our the Big Elvis rand Morning Show, he because scary and I've been arguing and fighting and disagreeing for years off the area. So he thinks that this podcast is just well, number one, me ranting and complaining and to us fighting, which we do. But that's all there is. I mean, we always have email. There's a lot and email and a couple of unused punchlines and you gotta a podcast, right, But the truth is, uh, you know, maybe we should have people occasionally send Elvis a tweet and be like, yo, Elvis love the Brooklyn Boys podcast. You should check it out sometimes, but not fly Ky. They told me to tweet you be bad. That would be bad, And don't don't do it this week, do it next week starting with episode because if the first episode, Elvis here is us right now complain right, He's like, oh, they they just fucking set me up this also, don't tweet even though they told me not to tell you. They told me to tell you. Oh no, they're gonna say all derivatives of that. Just say say it from the heart. Speak from the guy, like you're telling your best friend, Hey, friend, this is cool. Bright Hey, you know, like you go, hey, there's a new pizza place that's really good. Hey at Elvis duran Hey at Elvis Durant yea not Elvis Strand show. Don't make the mistake. A lot of you guys are tweeting at Elvis Durand show, and you're like, Elsa sees anything at Elvias Durand show. He only sees things at Elvis d r Elvis Durand Show is our way of communicating thoughts from the whole show. And then if you have a question, one of the fifteen of us will get back to you. Like if you're gonna talk to Ryan Seacrest, you tweet Ryan Seacrest. You don't tweet on air with Ryan Seacrest because that's his show. Same thing with Jimmy Fallon and you don't tweet a Tonight Show because that's the show's account right Tonight Show, Jimmy he's a great account, but he's not really he's not necessarily reading it right. So you got a tweet at Jimmy Fallon, so at Elvis Duran. Should we give more examples? And we think we're good with that. I think we're okay. I think we beat this dead horse horse by the horse is still dead. By the way, I worked in and when used to manage restaurants, I had a girl who worked for me who said, stop it. You're beating it with a dead horse. Beating it with the dead horse. You're beating it. Yes. Yeah. The same girl who went asked who Gandhi was thought it was a Japanese monster from the monster movies, like God Zella and like Gandhi was a was a monster movie? Oh my god, same girl. Well, you know I used to think it was for for all intensive purposes. Yeah, yeah, it's a problem. But you know a lot of people from this podcast is like what what what? Because because I'm about to tell them about to drop you can I'm the knowledge dropper. Well I'm gonna drop some knowledge, drop some knowledge. Yeah, it's for all intent and purpose, for all the things you planned. This is what it really is, right, And I learned that recently that it's for all intense and purpose. It's also it's also pomp p O MP pomp and circumstances to pop popping circumstance. There's a guy in New York sports radio who constantly says popping circumstance. And he also says I could care less when he means he couldn't care less, well, for all intensive purposes, that's wrong, right, But the same guy, I'm not gonna tell you his name, but the same guy within within thirty five seconds because I taped it on my phone, but I lost the file and have any more. He said popping circumstance and for all intensive purposes. And he's on New York Radio and New York. So kids, if you're listening, you too can be a New York radio if you say expressions. It's also resume season for the Broody Internship. Okay, so a couple of people I ran. I ranted again on Twitter a little bit, and people asked if I was going to rant on the podcast. Of course, I'm gonna wait until the I what I do is I interview from a five weeks I'm gonna wait until I get all the resumes from this semester, and I'll come in and read some of them, but again every semester. By the way, if you apply an internship and and first of all, you should listen to the show enough to know that I run the internship program. I do all the interviews to all the hiring, all the reviews, all job recommendations, everything soup to nuts, the internship program. Mind mind, mind, mind mind. Okay, every semester, you should follow me on Twitter. I tweet at David Underscore Brody. That an interesting thing in English language, when you write the word apart as one word, it's the exact opposite meaning of apart as two words. One means apart means separate from, and one means I want to be a part of together with. But when you write in your cover letter, I really want to be a part of the morning show, and you write a P A R T is one word. You are a part of the morning show and you're gonna stay that way. You apart from this job, right Yeah. And if you're a perspective intern no matter where you are, clean up your social media because at this stage of the game, employers look they look for reasons not to hire you or to put your resume in the in the garbage. Some do, yeah, well you do, we do, I have in the past, we do. But there are people who, you know, the issue is this, if you have, if you have anything, if you have slutty pictures on there, get them off at least get fine, keep it private, you know, get it get out of there. You don't want people looking at stuff that could that's public, maybe judging you before they even talk. Maybe on the phone front. Maybe not pictures in video of yourself doing drugs because I've seen that. Yeah, get that out of there. Okay. So here's another example of a bad resume. Cover letter, cover letter, I love radio, my dreams to be in radio. Really want to bring the show radio radio Radio. Flip over to the resume objective. First of all, never put an objective on your on your resume. Obviously, your objective is to get the job you just sent me the resume for. So the objective of the one I got yesterday was to find a job in marketing or public relations. Well, then why are you're applying for a radio job? Because they it's a toss up, because it's a it's a great uh, it's a great fallback. Then update your objective. Update your objective, change your objective. Do I want to get an internship in radio to be a position you're applying for? Right? If your objective is to get into television, don't apply here. We don't say I want to be I want to work at a record label, then go do that. Or people with frivolous excuses for wanting to work here, We've gotten that over the years. Hey, why don't work here? Because I love Taylor Swift. I listen to all the time. I love your show. Yeah, and I and I say that. I say this in every interview. This is what I say to everybody I interview. I love Chinese food, but I don't want to work there. So that's not a reason you don't work at a Chinese restaurants. You love the food. If you want to learn how to cook in a walk, then go work there. If you want to intern in radio, you want to learn all the things that we teach here, that's fine, that's great. I will teach you about ratings and people meeters and how music gets added to the radio station, all of it syndication. But if you just want to come in because oh my God, music is so important to me. I love music. I love music. Then get an iPod and listen to music. I'm in all your phone. I ain't in an iPod. But you guys take pictures with Ariana Grande when she's here. I want to be able to do that. Someone actually said that once, because we meet stars. I've had people in the interview asked me how often she'll get to meet celebrities and is it cool to take pictures with them? Wow? Like straight up yeah? Like how often will I meet the people? That's bad? Like I probably I don't know. No, not not now never. Now, that's terrible that you don't. You don't go down that road. You're supposed to be professional about it. You don't want Oh my buddy Brian Um he had an intern at his radio station and the intern halfway through the semester went to Brian's boss, and Brian is a DJ. He went to Brian's boss and said, yeah, here's how things are going. I don't feel like I'm being challenged enough. I don't feel like I'm doing enough around here. Like the intern had the balls to go to the boss's boss, his boss's boss, your boss and have that conversation. He went to his boss's boss and said, yeah, um, I don't feel like I'm doing enough around here. I I don't feel challenged. I'm kind of bored. Wow. I mean that's that takes quite a bit of a nutsack to do that. Also, you know that, I mean you think about it. You're a fucking intern. You don't even have a job here, and you're complaining to your boss's boss. It's not it's not. It's okay, it's not that you're an intern. Let's not call him, okay, whatever, you're trying to diminish the position. Whatever your job is, whatever your role is, no matter how high your position is, if you have a problem, you go to your direct supervisor. That's correct. So whether that person was an intern, a phone op, a mail room person, whatever your job is, you go to your boss first, and then if you find it you have an unsatisfactory response, you can go to but as Yeah, that's odd. Also, in an interview, don't ask me what my favorite day at work was or what I like most about my job. It isn't about what I like most about my job. It's about it's about what you'll learn and what you what you like if I say, what's the what's the who's the coolest celebrity I've ever met? How is that help you get the job? That's gonna Well, that's them making small talk. Yeah, but don't do that. That's them, that's them actually trying to be like, uh, that's them interviewing you at yeah kind of. I don't need that. What I need is for you to take your two questions or three questions that you have an opportunity to speak to me and say, hey, if I get the internship, how will my audio production background, uh, you know, be helpful of how advanced can I learn? Or or do you think that you know? Is this something I can turn into a long term position? Is something that was related to you in the job, wanting the job, getting the job? Asking me who the coolest celebrity I've met? Or who is the nicest? Asked me that? Like when you're here a month and say, hey, you know what, we've met some great people. Who's been the nicest so far? So what is an appropriate question for as somebody that you're interviewing? Well, I just I just I just I just gave you a few another one, another one. What if they start going into things like well, they go, how do you get you get into radio? As how is your day? It's fine, No, listen, I'll be honest human about it. People listening to this podcast probably who I've interviewed. Most of the interview is not about the position or radio. It's about them in their life. It's about the chemistry. Yeah. We I talk about sports, I talk about uh personality, what they're into. The TV show Diet Coke with no Ice. I like Diet Coke with no Ice. I should be able to work here well. M our intern um Michelle from two semesters ago, Michelle Cannoli. No, no, that's Melissa Cannoli. Melissa Canoli. I worked with her yesterday. By the way, she's she's turning out to be a fine young employee. Yeah. Um. Michelle happened to say that she loves and only eats rose poklomino vegetables, the same why I do. And then she brought some in on her first day. That was a bonding moment. That isn't why she got the internship, and that was the kind of thing we talk about that that's one of the things you put the Also, don't refer to the people I work with as them, don't say to me in the interview, Oh my god, I listened to them every day. That makes you not a part of this. You know, you're over here in this corner, right, and then there's the stars and the people I love, and then there's you, Brodie. Right now, your perception, maybe I don't speak as much as everyone else, and that's absolutely correct. I'm not a co host on the show, but I'm part of the show for a very long time. So you should know that if you come into Yeah, that's a little condescending. I could see that. I could see that, right. You shouldn't go, oh my god, they're so funny, so I always say, go, you mean us, Oh yeah, yeah, you guys. Yeah. Um, Or they get the name of the show wrong. Stuff like that. In research. Interesting, Um, maybe maybe Professor Brodie, you could help out here. Um, someone we know is in a predicament. They they have a direct boss. Speaking of going to your direct boss and not your boss's boss. Here's where I think that might not apply. This woman is great at what she does in her role. Okay, okay, you can follow so far. The boss loves her so much because she is that popping circumstances, playing popping circumstances. The boss is so elated to have her because she makes her life easy, simple. But this woman is ready to move on in the company. She wants to get a higher position somewhere, but feels that at every turn her boss is cutting her off from advancement in the company because she feels that she's too much of an asset to the boss, and she's afraid that if she leaves her then she's gonna have to retrain somebody else. It's a it's an act of selfishness by her boss. So how does she get over that hurdle? Because she's This woman has asked me now say, well, scary, do you think if I went over her head and talked to this individual and that, and she named three individuals in the company, do you think that they could keep a secret and you think that maybe they could help me out and get me out of there, because at this point I want to get the funk out of here. Well, she wants at a dodge. So back when I used to manage restaurants, we used to have people that were really good at cleaning the bathrooms. But if you're really good at cleaning the bathroom was stepping. Well, you need them clean, you send those same people. And so if you're for the rest of your you're like, wow, if I send Mike, he does a shitty job in the bathroom, no pun intended. But if I send Eddie does a great job. So when the bathroom clean makes it sparkles. I have. I have an option is if someone's a lazy manager, they can just keep sending Eddie. Right, if you're a good manager, you teach it Mike how to be a better or you hire somebody that speaks to the effectiveness as the manager. But but but what happens to an employee that's under that manager? Well, okay, how do you handle it? He's what he's scrubbing toilet to be a Mr. Clean. Here's a couple of things you can do. You can train your replacement. You can find someone to fill in for you when you take a week off who's fantastic. And then your boss sees that other people can do the job, that you're not the only one that can. That can make her life easy. But how do you feel about you need to have a common frogging over her behind her back? No, I think what you can do is and and by the way, we're talking about people at every company, this could be. This could apply to you listening to this podcast. Here are two options that pop into my head. And I'm not an expert. This is just what I've seen in life. You can go to your boss and have that conversation and say, listen, I know you're really happy with what I do, and that's awesome. I'd like to do it on a grander scale. I'd like to grow a little bit. It's been four years. I'm sure I can help train the person who's going to replace me. I'll stay on for an extra month to make sure it's smooth. I'll make myself available, but i'd love for your recommendation to move on. The other thing you can do is find someone else who is at your level who moved up and see how they did it. Did they have the same conversation with their boss. It's hard to because we're talking about moving cities now, trying to move cities from city to city. This this is a tough one. This is a tough one. And and I don't have the exact answer for her because I don't want to get fired from her current job. But then again, that would be the problem solved right there. Yeah, but anyway, uh yeah, no, So so I'm sorry. Sure people go to what every day, but imagine you're too good at your job. That's so much, so much to the extent that your your boss doesn't want you to leave and they want you under their thumb. Well, if the boss, like if you apply somewhere else and the boss calls up there and says, don't hire them, I want them staying with me, that's a dick move. Is this is this person's boss in any way blocking them from going anywhere else or just not helping. Well, they they are not helping but cock blocking at every turn. So she doesn't so they don't expose. They don't expose. She doesn't expose her to other experiences in the company because the secret will get out that she's great at what she does and then they might steal her. So she keeps her like kind of it's like it's like Rapunzel, you know, it keeps her in that ivory tower. I can't speak for anyone else's financial situation. You gotta get out of there. If you have a boss who doesn't want you to grow, it's exactly, you gotta get out. She's like a veal in a box. On the other hand, I've seen bosses in my career who will actively push and promote people, take the credit for pushing and promoting them, but in essence, they just wanted them to funk out because it was the flip side. They realized that person needed to grow and it was becoming uncomfortable that there was nowhere for them to go, so they helped them get out. And then we're like, oh yeah, I love when when my people grow, but really just wanted them out. Wasn't looking to help them, just wanted them out. In fact, Larry David on Curb Enthusiasm always comes back to Larry David, you know that Curb Enthusiasm did the same thing. I'm just gonna play music. So the episode a few weeks ago was about people on the show hoisting their assistant on other people. What is explain I think it was hoister foisted or I think it was hoisted. I have to look at the word and maybe it wasn't hoisted. Damn it, I've been a bad watch. This goes under the category if you don't need to tweet us, I'll know by the time you hear this. But the point what foisting? Maybe it's foist hoisting. Um, they would recommend the system they didn't like to a friend. Oh she's fantastic. You know what, I'm not sure I need her anymore. You should take her and this way taking the credit. She's all yours. You're gonna love her. She's been with me forever. And this is a topic for the big show. And in the minute, oh I got another topic, like you like you foisted them onto somebody, making it look like you were doing a good thing. You're generous, but you hated them and you wanted them gone right and then you just problem solved. Yeah, Um, this week's curb there was another topic for the showy not frour show, not for the show, say it for the big show, but big shout out to uh people. I think I'm not even gonna give a shout out because it's like the chances of people that showed up yesterday to my appearance here. Okay, hold on a second. Hold on. Last week you ran two full commercials for your clients and people were tweeting saying love the show could have done without commercial. You're not going to mention where you are. Yeah, I know you're not. I know I could give. I'm not going to tell you where I was. The reason why I bring it up is because of what That's a redundant sentence. The reason I bring it up, you know, The reason is because when people say the reason is because because, and the reason is mean the same thing. A little tip for you. It's the reason it's about forget about where I was yesterday? All right. But the point is you can't help yourself. Bust bribed, No, he bribed the listeners to show up. It was fascinating, Brodie, this this event took place. Not again, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna spoil it. It's not a commercial for my client. The point is, I'm not sweating. Fuck you, bro all right, I don't have to mention where I was. But they have damn good roast beef. Stop it. No, but I can't help myself. The truth is this This appearance was during a week night at a bad time of evening, was kind of like in between where people getting home from work or not in the pouring rain, two hours away from the Z one hundred signal um I mean, and the fifth at least fifteen minutes removed from where you could last even here Z one hundred, the radio station where we broadcast out of New York. Yeah. So I'm like, and the commercials that ran were one and and like, I'm like, there's no way anybody is going to show up to this appearance. That's not positive thinking, well, because I just thought the odds were stacked again of all the factors I just mentioned put together, but cash, well, well, that's the same. You know, the salesperson who who came up with the idea, don't need to mention their names, not gonna mention her name. She said, Trust me, people are gonna show up because here's what we're gonna do. You're gonna give away a Z one hundred dollar bill every ten minutes for two hours. Every ten minutes, another one, right, and that's what I said, another one hundred. There's over the course of two hours, and the commercial message is going to be that, and trust me, people will come. I swear to God, Brodie, I doubted her at every turn. I'm like, there's no way, Brodie, I got thirty five people to show up based on that message. I can't believe it. I can't believe how money moves people, that brings You mentioned cash, you mentioned showed up for the free rose people. But I was just fascinated by it because I'm like, I just I wanted to make that point because didn't you drive fifteen minutes for a hundred bucks. I'm just saying it was at the far reaches of our signal and the pouring rain on a on a Tuesday Hunter bus. What what did you teach me years ago? What's kingsh just king? So I had thirty five lists. I was so elated and here I'm thinking, like, oh, they came out to see me. What's your nickname? What? What's your nickname? You bloays call you what Mr Chips? Mr Chips? Yeah? Cash, you know it's money, so you have chips. These people weren't here to see me. No, they weren't. Ten minutes every hundred dollars every ten minute, every ten minutes fascinating. We should do that on the podcast what give away? Oh my god, give away ten cents you know what every half hour? Ten cents? You know, five minutes of the post about ways we can incorporate prising into this podcast, by the way, and Brian people to listen and give reviews on Apple iTunes. By the way, continue to do that. So last week on episode fifteen, we joked about whether or not we could charge a dime right to listen to the podcast, which would amount to about, let's say five dollars a year, five dollars and cents. And we said that if you subscribe for a full year, we'll give you the discount four dollars. Yeah, for the whole year, a whole year podcast. And we got people saying, yeah, eight cents, I'll give you three dollars. Saw that, I mean how much they they're trying to they're trying to brodie the podcast and get a deal. They're making the deal. We attract dealmakers because you're a deal maker. Dimes. Alright, we've at least given you two cents worth of content already. You want to be chinzy with us, fine, we'll we'll give it to you for seven cents. Isn't a chinsey chin z chinse c h I n s y chinse chin z no no no no z chinse. I didn't say it was a z. It was spelled blood in ass, but it's pronounced like a z chin chin. You want to be chinzy with us. Okay, seven cents, thinking of Chinsey. There's a commercial. What's the guy's name? We did the two and two the Bob Banks, not Bob Bank. The guy didn't know that connection. We'll be back stop Bob you Banks. You Banks was thirty years before this guy, Chuck, Chuck Wooler, we'll be back into by the way. Not a fan of his on Twitter? Why it doesn't matter. It's not a fan of his on Twitter. He's very vocal, and I'm okay, I'm not a fan of vocal, and you're not a vocal guy. I'm vocal. But in the other way anyway, listen to me the other the other way. Don't go look up Chuck Woolery and then tell me I'm whatever. Please anyway. Chuck Willery does commercials for some I don't know, cream, some some old people cream broke cream. But he says it's not greasy. He says greasy instead of greasy. He says in the commercial greasy, and they allow that to air. Yeah, greasy is like I don't know, I think that's like what generations. It's hip hop terms done greasy, greasy do do Little Little Wayne doing, weasy baby do. It is greasy, greasy baby. Yeah. So if I hear this commercial, it's not greasy, it's not. But he says greasy greasy, it's not greasy. I guess there's a part of the country there two generations ago, like your grandfather said greasy that. You said that. That cowboy guy Roy Rogers, he said that. He said, greegy, you son of a bitch. I gotta write a jingle. Now, I gotta write a jingle. You you know I have to. I'm gonna you know what you see, Okay, that's what you get. So of a bit for those I'm not even explain it because because even if people get it, the whole country doesn't know what that is. I'm not gonna do it. But you did it. You did it again. You can't help yourself. You can't help yourself doing tomorrow. I didn't do anything. I don't know what you're talking about, Brody. By the way, I want to say, I do it for the people. I don't have any clients, I don't have any sponsors. Nobody pays me to say anything. Nobody wants me, so I don't plug anybody. I have nobody to plug. By the way, I'm open from plugging, and I don't. By the way, I know how that sounded. I'm not open to that kind of plugging. Hold you just drop and make ax brody being wanting to be plugged. I am open to plug products. By the way. By the way, I have a great idea for a sponsor. And they love us and we love them, and they were in the news today, talked about on the Big Show. Because they're rapidly expanding. They need to sponsor our podcasting Fran and salth Fran, I love, I love Salve, I love frandlow More. Alright, I'm from salivating at eating or frant of salivating, salivating, you know what I'm talking about. They should sponsor past Yeah, based on our logo and everything, all of it, the bridge, all of it, they should sponsor. Well what is this guy doing? What are you taking pictures of? Some guy? Don't take pictures of you know. So we work. Elvis puts it best. We work in a fish ball, and we're inside the fish ball because we have it's it's basically the windows studios with florashilling windows, and people are constantly walk up like where the monkeys in the cage. They're like, oh, look, at the people, and they think we can't see them. Like when you look at fish, there's refraction in the light. Either fish don't see the goldfish don't see you, right unless you tap on the glass right then they hear you. They flip out right that they walk up to the glass. Look, should we feed them? First of all the answers, yes, always feed us. The second of all, don't walk away from the glass, stop it, ye, stare They stare into the glass like We're like, look, they're so lifelike, the solving world. They're solving the Earth's issues. Like, I wonder what they're talking about. They're talking about about about climate change? No, we're talking about sponsor got stupid podcast. This is true, but you know what, broody It does get me excited that there could be potential there. But anyway, so all the wise, as we appreciate your comments, but come on, eight cents, let's let's talk about what we got here. That's a mail for you. Hold on, you have an email, Yeah, I've got I've got three rants. I'm I'm getting to today, all right, I guess why don't we start with it? Maybe I'll do one rant? Hold on, because I got to separate a bone to pick with you? A bone a bone to pick with you? Does that have to do with a steak bone? Nope. Some listeners on our Twitter at Brooklyn Boys, wtf which is supposed to be changed at the Brooklyn Boys anything any day? Now? Uh? You know, they noticed that I went out for another steak dinner the other night, and and seven people, well I should have been I should change the jingle Brodies fake dinner update because I'm not getting it. Well, here's the deal diner this time? Seven people said, Yo, I noticed that you went out to dinner with Dr Fat Loss. We talked about that last week, stake did did we talk? Oh yeah, we went to hold into that. Yeah, we got it into that on a Friday, on a Friday. Yeah, Well it was this guy's birthday. All right, leave me alone that Brody does not get another steak dinner. It's already been established because he settled it. He settled it, he said, alright, I have I have a lot listen to this. Hold on, what's this jokes? A lot of them this week. Alright, it's only Wednesday, we're recording this, all right, let's do let's do a rant. Come on, talk give me a couple of ticks or just a bone. You want to pick the bone. You want to pick the bone. You like my fucking bone. Okay. Scary Jones, my co host, compatriot for so many years, Bill Clinton was president. When I thoughted here, Monica Lewinsky was in the news. I helped get you in the door. You met me in the parking lot. You open the door. I created this monster. But nobody wants to hear Brody no more. So you can't trust Scary with anything exciting, any news, any secrets. Why. Okay, So here's what you're gonna tweet us at David Underscore Brody, at Scary Jones and tell me if I'm wrong, without giving anyway details. I needed Scary's opinion on something, so I called him. I called him, No, I I texted you. I didn't know where Scary was. I texted him. I said, hey, I really need to talk to you about something. And I came into the studio. Hold on, hold on. He says, oh, I'm in another studio with a co worker. And I said, yeah, I don't want to come in and have that conversation there. Please meet me in another studio. So I established right away. I don't want to bring another person into it, don't want to talk about in front another person. So Scary comes in we I asked him his opinion on something. He gives his opinion. No, no, it's important, okay, So uh let's just say for the sake of purposes, I say that Scary, hey, should I have pizza for dinner tonight? And he says, well, I'm in the studio with We'll call him, uh, Mike, why don't you come in here and ask me and Mike about having pizza dinner? And I said, I don't want to discuss it with Mike or anybody else, just want to know your opinion on what I had pizza to night. So I get in the studio with Scary and Scary says, yeah, you know what I feel like, for your own health, you shouldn't have the pizza. And I said, you know what, I think I may have the pizza anyway. I feel like I may have the pizza. You're like, I wouldn't have the pizza, And I said, dah, I like pizza and have the pizza. All right. We agree to disagree. About a half hour later, I get a text from Mike Mike says, hey, man, don't have the pizza. Don't have the pizza. So I said, scared, What the fuck? What I said? I told you I wanted your opinion on the pizza. So he says to me, well, you didn't tell me that. Tell Mike. Yeah, when I said, I don't want to come in there because Mike's there, I don't want to discuss it for the Mike. You thought that, man, I wanted you to go to Mike privately and asked Mike's opinion at the pizza. So now I can't have the pizza because Mike said I also don't think pizza wasn't good for you to begin with, not your place, not your place you eat crapping felt bad for you. No, you didn't. Eating the pizza didn't had a bad example. By the way, Here's here's how you rationalize it. You felt I should have taken your advice on the pizza, so to reinforce that you got someone else's opinion to just make sure I knew I shouldn't have the pizza. That's what we do it, right. But after I specifically told you, if there's anyone on the planet, it was for your I don't want to hear their opinion for your own good that you didn't eat pizza. You know what. We're not talking about pizza, by the way, not actually pizza. As we know, pizza is always good. I can't go wrong with pizza. But but I will say this, if you order pizza without cheese, it's not pizza's bread. It's not That could be another conversation. If you have like vegetables on top of your bread, that's Brett Bret sandwich. I'm over, You're a dick. That's what I'm saying. Next, So no, so, so, here's what I'm so. So, Here's I'm sorry. I asked why you wanted to here's his Here's where we need the opinion of of our listeners. Is it? Who's right? Here? Am I right? Because he knew I didn't want anyone else's opinion, and he immediately ran to Mike and said, hey, man, Brodie's asking about dinner and wants pizza. And then I get a text message from Mike or is scary right? Because he really didn't want to have the pizza and he was looking out for me. I was looking He just a fucking blabber mouth. I'm just looking out for you. I don't want you to have I don't want you to die of a heart attack from eating pizza. I wouldn't have. This was not a serious thing. This was something that was I think is I can't win this argument because we're not telling you metaphors. Wanted to do something I thought was funny. You said, I'm not sure it's funny, and I said, well, I still may do it because I think it's funny. Now you have to trust me. I think people listening to the podcast trust me now that I know I'm not on this one. He stabbing in the right. So that's my that's my I know. I don't want to people go first world problems. Here it comes. Oh is your iPhone ten to lay today? I got it? No, I have the iPhone ten. I got it. I went home, I played with it all weekend. By did you Hello? Did you see Jimmy Kimmel last night? He does this bit every time a new iPhone comes out. He went on the street last night with an iPhone four, old school, small, fat iPhone four and he handed it to people on the street. Well he didn't, his guy on the street did, because hey, we have the new iPhone ten? What do you think? And holding the four? Oh, this is great, this is all it's so beautiful. What do you like about it? It's so clear, it's so it's so easy to hold, it's so easy, it's so compact. This I hadn't seen. This is great. These people with dumb as bricks. But the point is people who like Apple products will no matter what ship it is, will go, oh, it's amazing. So I defy you to tell me what's better about your phone than my Samsung Galaxy S A plus. Here's what's okay, that's not what I say. Problem. It's like, it's got the facial recognition. Yeah, I know you have that technology back in two dozen twelves. You don't have to you have to say that. But the point is it recognizes It's great, it recognizes you. It recognizes you in the dark. It's it's amazing. But what's gonna happen when I put on a scarf or I'm bundled up The facial recognition is not going to be there. Then then you have to have a second source of uh, second way open your phone? Well, yeah, what a pass code? But I don't have to do that now. I'm now facial recognition. Okay, I have an alarm system at my house where you push, But what happens if I lose my fingers in a woodchip er? Then how do I get my house? See? Right now recognizes me because it's just me. But right now the phone is going. But when it's twenty below and I'm like, oh, bundled up and I look at my phone, well, why don't you use the heat me up app? And you won't need a scarf. I'm just saying, by the way the Android has the X ray technology goes right through the scarf. Anyway. My review of the iPhone tent it's awesome if you have a chance to get it. Really, what's what's great about it? Because it makes as into eyes with eyes into a's that was just a software that's going to fix itself. No, it's an aos issue anyway. That's funny because the A was turning into an eyes. I think I did there. It's just an awesome phone. It's fast, Okay, what what's what's what's great about it's how didn't change your life? There's no screen, there's no but you know what, Samsung's hadn't had a home button in like three years now. All right, it's not gonna have the Android versus because you'll lose. You'll lose. Remember Apple sued Android. They suited Samsung for first back in the day. They said yes because there was some things about Android that was similar. That was eight years ago, and now Android is better better, better, better, better, better better better. But okay, you bix it. I'll talk to Syria. I don't have to do anything because I'm smart. I don't need to. I don't need the phone to tell me the capital of New York is Albany. I don't need to do that. Hey, Siri, what's the weather? I look out the window. I have a widget on my screen that that rains when it's raining. It rains on my phone. By the way, it was this your rant, because you're already in full rant moment. You got me an okay you while you're there, continue give me one all right? All right? I had uh the gas and electric company coming to my house, okay, And they came to fix something, and anything they needed to be fixed was on my bedroom level of my house. So I have a couple of different levels of my house, the split level house, so I have a guess bathroom on the lower level than is the main level, than the bedroom level. So I have a bathroom on the bedroom level. So this guy, nice guy, couldn't be a nicer guy. He's at my house and he's fixing something and then he's he's standing like four ft away from the door that's closed, when my bathroom is the one I use, the one I like the king of the castle, my bath your bathroom where my stuff is, where it's just nobody's there but me, right, okay, So he says, hey, can I use bathroom quick? So I don't want to have him go down too little flights of stairs down to the lower level with a guest bathroom. He's standing the door that he's in front of your bathroom and he knows it to bath and he used the word quick, So I said, darn left to see, take a pay whatever, wash your hands, use the pump whatever. Okay, he's in there. It was closed. I hear belt buckle. I'm my guy. You know, he's one of those guys who opens the belt buckle the pea he has to pull down his pants to pee. So I don't want to stand by the door, so I go down the six or seven steps to the level below, and I'm playing with the dogs. Four minutes, minutes, eight minutes. It was eleven minutes. This man in my bathroom eleven minutes. It would have been ironic if he was a plumber. Right then I hear the water run, but only for a very short period of time, not eleven minutes worth of handwashing. I'm telling he didn't do He's supposed to sing, row row your boats to completion in order to get the germs out while you while you rub it with So I think he said the word boat and it was done. Then I was downstairs. I sort of was like peripherally looking back up the staircase whose you can see the bathroom door, so not to make it look like I was looking. He came out of the bathroom, did the look around, pulled the door close behind him to keep the stake behind. The man blow up my bathroom. I didn't make him use the guest bathroom. Yeah, he blew up the bathroom. That's unfortunate. Then I go in there after he leaves again, nice guy, Salt of the earth. There's like one stranded toilet paper left on the roll, So now I have to change the role. I don't want to go in there. I was waiting till my kids came home and like, oh, yeah, I use the bathroom. I'm right there. I don't want to open the door. That's uh, that's rough. You can't blow up a customers bathroom. You gotta say, you gotta guess bathroom. You gotta let me know. Did he give you a free gas? Yes he did. He did gas and electric, plenty of gas. I see why. So have you have you ever had somebody doing work in your house who used the main look one bathroom. So I lived my whole life one bathroom. I happen to have more than one bathroom. Now I have a house, but I have a guest bathroom. That that's what it's for. But this one time he said the word quick quick. That's the problem. The thing is it's weight. If you're gonna blow up my bathroom, give me the guilty face, give me the I hate to ask. Yeah, but can I use your bathroom? Because this way you have the option giving him the basement bathroom? What was he gave me the chipper quick? He gave me the chipper like, can you use bath real quick? Real quick? Real quick? Like he gave me at the end. He didn't think a game of ship, but he certainly did. But you can't give me the chipper quick. You can't give him a quick because of the way he said it, right, he fooled you. I think it like a little little shaking, a little can I use your bathroom real quick? To me? Could also mean I am I have to get to a bathroom or I'm gonna explode, So can I use your bathroom? He's just it's really quick, like right now, like right now? Maybe he maybe mad, I'm going to be quick real quick, like Harry because I'm gonna ship my pants. Or maybe he meant can I use your bathroom? And then said real quick like he wanted my response quickly, like hey, can you read them real quick? Get back to me right, Yeah, that's clearly it wasn't I want to use it because there was nothing quick about to start using it quickly is what he meant, because he was about to show his pants. I'm assuming, dude, duty duty he left up. So if you're a service person, if you're someone does work in other people's houses, I feel bad for those people. I actually have to side with them and like GoAhead, do what you gotta do. My cleaning lady is gonna be here tomorrow. And it wasn't like, by the way, once every two weeks I have someone scary scary has as he just pointed out, a tiny one bedroom apartment with one bathroom, and every two week he needs a cleaning person. Every two weeks someone comes in for two hours and does a quick sweep in my apartment for me, just to keep that weekly, that that maintenance day to day. It's there's nobody in there. But anyway, I digress. The point is I'm okay with it. I'm okay with the guy taking you know, gratuitous, but what if he blows up your bathroom. If he blows up my bathroom, then you know, then it gets clean the bathrooms of four Hold on a second, let's get a third opinion. Bounce Hold on you okay, so mo bounce. If you're not a hundred listener, you can listen on our Heart radio does afternoon Drive one hundred arguably one of the biggest shifts in the country. I'm just saying that it's gonna tell you about the guy who took one of the biggest ships in the country. Hold on, hold on, yeah, that's right, that's very good. Okay. Have you had work done in your house? People come over, electrician, painters, quality people. You can't do it the people and good people to don't you're getting this. Has anyone ever come into your house? Now? You have more than one bathroom? Yes, you have a guest bathroom. Yeah. Have you ever been in a situation where that person doing work in your house was right by your good bathroom and as soon as the right and you didn't want to make them walk downstairs? You're like, and they say to you know, how would you interpret this? You haven't been in the student. You know what we're talking about. If the person says to you, hey, um, can I use your bathroom real quick? What do you think is gonna happen? Based on what the words I just used? You? Well, I just think you real quick? No, no, But but if they say, what do you think they're gonna do? What do you think they need to do? If they go, hey, can you be real quick? Probably right? Real quick? Yeah, real quick? Real quick. Oh yeah, that's the key word. Chipper chip. I call it chipper quick. He's like chipper Hey, okay, your baby quick? Okay, now, how would you feel? How would you feel if that real quick turned into boom boom boom, thirteen minutes of ship. You gotta get out. You're knock gonna hey, we gotta stage. I really need to keep this one tip top. You're working for me today. Then it makes them uncomfortable. They feel like they gotta wipe. Now you gotta leave. Now should you have? Should I have told the guy go down fourteen steps and go to the guest. Did you wait? How would you wait to wear what you figured out? He wasn't paying? Well? I once I after like a minute. You know, guys, First I heard the belt buckle, and then so I installed the toilet myself, right even more, No, and I didn't. So it's it's like a quarter injoy from the wall. So when you sit down, you can hear the tank against the wall. So I heard the rattle of the tank. I went, he's sitting. He plopped, and then he continued to PLoP, PLoP, PLoP. My point is so when he came out of the bathrooms, he pulled the door closed behind them and did the look around because it stinks. Yeah, he did, like anybody see me. That's rude, right, well, yeah, so why would you say it's not rude to poop and real quick? And then right, don't say real quick? Okay, now is there is there a possibility that he meant to be But then when when confronted with a toilet, he's like, boom, I gotta go. That's the possibility. And that's the excuse I would use if I was the guy sitting on you, because once quick, once the air hits the a new so the taint area, you may have to poop. You didn't have pool before. Yeah, but these are humanly bodily functions. I mean, don't feel bad for these guys. Well now you're making me feel bad. Yes, now I feel bad. But no, but he said to real quick, he's gonna go, right, what was the guest bathroom? Well, no one's gonna say can I use your bathroom? I'm gonna take a few dukes. No, But what wouldn't you maybe go a listen, I ask, because it'll if if I use your bathroom, like make it look like he feels bad in a dance. Initially, you probably should have said yes, if you could use the bathroom downstairs, because he's not gonna tell him he's gonna pere poop. But right, but but we don't know. Normally I say that's my kid's bathroom, they'll go in there. But I was like, I feel, I know, I kind of I felt he's the good guy. I was like, go right there, Yeah, you know what he should He should have been actually a little bit more parent with you. It's on him. He should have been like this, I gotta drop a deuce. He should have told me. He should have said to me, hey, I'm gonna drop a deuce. Now that the thing is, it's guy's talking, so at least at least he could he here's the worst coming and mean this afternoon something. You go, hey, make a joke out of Here's the worst part. You guys know me, you know how I am with money. The worst part is he wasn't working hourly, like it was a set rate. So if it's hourly, I could have docked him or me. He could have said to me, listen, I blow up your bathroom and taking twenty bucks off, then it would be like blow it up again for forty. You know what you get? You give me great, You give me a fifty you can pay on the seat. I don't care you. Okay, that's a good question. So you don't care if he was minutes, if there were if there was something in it for you, right, if he's like, yeah, you know what, I'm gonna do a lecture, gonna at painting, what I would do in the room, whatever, I'll give you whatever off. Yeah, but it was a flat ray job. He did a great job, by the way, but I got nothing. Yeah, and then to you bounce honorary Brooklyn boy three A is a Brooklyn boy I love. Oh no, we got a problem. Oh, here comes beth You put on this microphone over here. Yeah, that Mike right there. Bethany's here from the show. Hi Bethany. But wait a second, Bethany, hold on a second. No, no, no, you could come in any time you want. And you know that really, Yeah, because I'm pretty sure I saw a sign on the window that said everyone can come in except for Bethany in parentheses, the pale one extra parentheses. Okay, what you're not saying is it was it didn't actually say Bethany, it was a picture of your face. Okay, Right, that's bullshit. Anybody, Well, someone's ringing, you're ringing. What do you have to contribute to the podcast you have that's going on with you? What are you doing? I have a lot of feelings to a second, why are you stealing a plush Philadelphia Eagles toy the fly Eagles Fly Guy Swoop. So today a bunch of mascots came in and they left a mini mascot behind the stuffed animal of the Philly Eagles there is left. I checked there. They were a Green Bay Packers fan. I am, but Green Bay Packers don't have a mascot, and no one else wanted to do. Right now, it's out on Rodgers because he's sitting on the sidelines. That hurts um. So I took this in case my cats wotted it. Mostly they'll probably just drag it around. In fairness, the eagles also wear green and the bird has yellow socks on, so it's sort of packer issue. It's like, out of the corner of your eye, it looks like the packers. So the from the land of Cheese they have no they don't have like a cheese head mascot. I can't believe. And everyone in the stands is a cheese Yeah, you wear the cheesehead, but why don't they have a mascot. That's somewhat somehow related to the Jets don't have a mascot. The Giants have a mascot. Not a thing. Why they're packers. They're not, you know, it's not like a bunch of dudes with boxes that they're moving. The team is the entertainment. Okay, we don't need a mascot. Were enough. But the Cowboys have have a mascot and cow cowboy dancers. Right, But that's a thing like America's team. They gotta have everything, not America's team. That's their nickname. I don't actually follow from defensive. So you're not on the podcast feel because there's no there's nothing there in Green Bay that you figured. You jump on the Eagles band wagging. I'm not on the Eagles band wagging at all. It's just a free stuffed animal. It's a free animal for the kids. You send up a video of your cats ripping the thing apart later, yeah, I mean they probably won't even touch it, and if not, I'll bring it back and someone else can have it. But if it's free, it's for me. I say the same thing. Hey bye, guys. Sorry, I did not mean to actually take your entire podcast and turn it as another hour in a We're fine, Yeah, you're more than welcome to this is, by the way, our first fanning show. Bethany Watson. You know somebody texted in today, by the way that they said, hey, Elvis, check out the podcast. Bethany's a fan of the Brooken Boys podcast. Did you see that? That was early on to you know another podcast is amazing and off go ahead and Acquired Taste podcast. We got to listen to a lot of it before you like it. Shut up? Is that right? Because you have to get used to it. It's an acquired taste only if you like it at first. But you'll like it at first and then the thing you gotta change your name? Shut up? So why don't you plug what you're talking about this week on Acquired Taste Podcast today? Yes, a choir Taste comes out later today Wednesday. We are talking actually as as will ours because ours fluctuates, okay, cool um ours is consistent and comes out every Wednesday today. Uh, we're talking about um. We actually had some we had to clear the air about some things. So it's clear the air about something that Brodie just talked about. What a guy blowing up his bathroom another scary. Oh. By the way, who in this room can't keep a secret? That would be scared? Thank you? I can continue. So I told scy don't tell Bethany about that text message. So we talked about Sam has some issues with Kathleen she needs to address with Kathleen. Did you address them off the podcast because it's better to address him on the podcast? And then we uh. We also talk about why I don't date because I have a hard no dating rule? Do you really refuse to date? So we talked about why that is so friends with benefits? No? Does that mean you don't date guys that are hard? I'm confused. I know a hard hard no to everyone fast rule and fast rule no dating things soft too fast. You'll have to listen to an Acquired Taste podcast to find out why. But that's that's upsetting because I feel like you're, you know, a great cat. You'd make a great catch for guys, and you are a great catch for them, and um yeah, but I just and I'm happy. I'm happier than ever not dating. But you have to listen to Acquire Taste podcast to find out why I I really didn't don't. Don't be sad about it. He's playing sound effects of crickets in the background, and you don't have your headphones on. You don't hear this My whole part. No, we don't do Sorry, go ahead, sorry, And I'm saying no, Bethany. That will not be edited out. We love Bethanya. I can't believe she doesn't date. Yeah, but that's not human. Well, I don't date, you gotta I mean, I don't date. I mean, yeah, but I know, but she's got to be horny, like okay, all right, you know not No, No, I don't know. Why don't we focus on the fact she probably needs a companionship? Is what what you like? Okay? The human the human male and the human female. Not to you been married a while? They want sex. Eventually you want sex. So I mean, if you're just cutting people out of the picture, how do you how do you have sex? Maybe you don't. This is a whole different podcast. We got quiet here all of a sudden, it's time for Brooklyn boys and sex toys. Dog. No, I mean, I don't know. I Bethany from the Straight Morning Show. She's she doesn't need it. Bethany's at a place in her life where she's very happy. She's happy with her friends. He was happy with her job. She just got she just adopted to adorable cats above. She's a new apartment, she likes her car, she's traveling. She's good right now. But all the all the above for everyone listening, yes, all of that, check all those boxes you there's still this need to be touched, right. I'm guessing I'm not just I'm generalizing now. I'm not just talking about Bethnys not for her where she is in her life. I can't say the same for me. Read emails. Is it time for email? Give me my nineties blues clues jingle? It's so Bronie God running the board three weeks in a row. I can't take this. I need my studio back. Something wrong I need to be in. Well, maybe she met one of our ten sent listeners. Because she's willing to pay for ten loyalists. She's probably saying that there's only nine others out there. Well, maybe she feels like she's one of the top ten loyal I'm gonna give it a benefit of doubt because she agrees with most of my rants, but not all of them. Okay, that's all that's worthy for this. And by the way, the beauty of my rants, you don't have to agree with them, just enjoy the ride. This is true the Brooklyn You can always email us at the Brooklyn Boys podcast at gmail dot com. Always get to us on Twitter at uh brook Well it's Brooklyn Boys. WTF for now? You know what? There's a there's a road in Hawaii called the Road to Hannah. Yeah, it's on Maui. So it starts the top of the mountain right and you drive it's like an S turn. You go a little bit, you make a turn and an S and S and an S and U s for what amounts to about three hours, okay, And all the while you're waiting for this, but you're looking at this beautiful view of the ocean and the waves crashing on the rocks, and you're getting lower and lower and lower, and it's monotony. It's every time you get to the bottom of the s it's a one lane stone bridge, and you go to the rest st bridge and so and you're on your way to Hannah, the road to Haun Like Benny Hannah, everybody tells you gotta get gotta get to the road to Hana is amazing. I gotta take the road to Hanna. You get to Hanna, there's nothing there. We got There's a guy with a hose on his lawn. He was like hosing the general store whatever. It was like, Hey, we're here, what do we what shall we say? That's it man, And you know what, it's the road is the thing. So so it's not about not how it can go funk itself. It's the road to Hanna. So don't worry about where my rant ends up. Enjoy them. It's the view that you get on the road to Hanna, and when you get to the end, you could sing, Hanna is great or not. My point is, if you ever take the road to Hanna, after like the first hour, it's the same ship for two more hours. Just turn around, go home. So just all you need to see is the first ten minutes of it, and then you're like, okay, this is going to repeat itself. Hold on, you know what the road to Hana. It costs us like two bucks back in the day to fly from Big Island O Wahoo over the mount take the road to Hana. Well, a long story short. I wasted three hours down, three hours back up. On the way back up. I was so tired. From the road to Hannah. A guy cut me off because I was racing them. I hit one of the hundred stone bridges and when I returned the car, I got arrested and fingerprinted because I hit state property and they made me pay a hundred dollars bail. They took my month shot. They took monk shots. It's really happy as they took monk shots of me on Polaroid, the know digital back then it was a long time ago. And in the process of getting fingerprinted, and had had the number plate the little thing but numbers and everything. Well, my best friend Rob, who was on one of our fifteen minute morning show podcasts, I didn't know he did this. The officer tells me. He calls me out of the prison cell. Out of the cell there, and he says, uh, the figure prints didn't come out, the pictures didn't come out. To the pictures again, So I take another set of pictures. Turned was that? Well, I was terrified. Did you try and get free dessert out of it? No? I was twenty one. It was a long time ago for me, so I was young. It was my first trip away. Okay, anyway, so I had I paid a hundred dollars bail. I never shut up for my court appearance, so technically I jumped bail on on Maui and I got fugitive. It's not a criminal offense. It was a traffic offense. But still, because I had stayed property, they had to put me in the holding cell. I'm on the plane with my buddy from Maui back to Oahu, and I'm telling him about this terrible, terrible situation. Frightening it was, and uh, how they made me take the mug shots. I had to do it twice, and he says, yep, I know. So how do you how do you know? How do you know? He said? I asked the cop if he'd please take it on the set for me, and he had another gave my buddy is set. But it was funny, so he thankfully lost those mug shots many years ago. I would pay money, good money. I would too. They don't exist. All My point is enjoy the road. That's all right. I think it's times of unused punch lines because I can't wait to get to these. You have to stack from me this, Yeah, that's okay, Brodie, Brodie, there we go. Okay, okay, can people even hear that music? Yeah? You want louderdder lodder, have the yellow with yellow room. That's okay. All right, So this wasn't a great joke with that. It was a little something. And by the way, if you're hearing this for the first time, this is the unused punch lines where I write joke for everyone in the room. He writes jokes of the bi mostly Felvis, but these are ones we didn't get to either rent at a time, he didn't think they were funny. They may have been a little too crude for the radio. But he writes him on a piece of paper, and he's got a stack of papers, and he said, you know what, any time it doesn't get used to use it here, I'm gonna use it here on this podcast, all right. So Danielle on our show did a story about how Prince they sold one of Prince's guitars for seven hundred thousand dollars. So I wrote, for seven hundred dozen dollars, it better come with zombie prints playing it. Elvis didn't do that, okay? Uh? Last week last week Britney Spears donated a lot of money to Hurricane Relief I think and some other charity. I said, well, now you have to know the news to know that what the joke is? I said, Last week shows donated a nipple to the internet Ohio because said slip. Yes. Uh. Bethany said she wants she wants to update her phone, but she doesn't have enough memory. So I said, so you you don't know memory, you can't remember to update your phone. Way to get to that? Oh, that's cute. I wrote a couple of leprosy jokes and are people offended? By leprosy. If you're a leper, I'm sorry. I apologize. So actually, Elvis made a joke about he made a leprosy joke. I didn't write it anyone. Oh you know what, I may have offended people. So I wrote a joke and I said, well, it's not like they're gonna call they have no hands. Okay again that was again. I apologize if you have leprosy or anyone in your family. But that was the joke and use it. So good good call on Elvis's part not using that joke. Um. Oh, today somebody called and said they got married on a baseball field. So I said, oh, well he gave you a big diamond. After all. We didn't get to that. But I like, are clever? Okay, So this one, um okay, So this was from today yesterday. From today, Greg t on our show said he likes to pee on the electrical wires outside of his house. He p's on the side of his house. So I kept thinking about was rend and Stimpy don't whiz on the electric fence and they on the show and so he said, we said, don't do that because you might get an electrical charge in your penis. Now, I know MythBusters said that it's not possible. It's not the point. So he said, I want to get shocked. The shock in my my my penis am I enjoyed that, So I wrote, he wants to put a little a C in his DC. We didn't get to that, okay, Uh, sour do Sam was here. We talked about all the mascots in the NFL were here, right Sam, San Francisco, forty niners. Sour dough bread is a big thing there in San Francisco. You know. I didn't know that. Yeah, so I thought it was used about Geared Deli chocolate. Right. So, by the way, nicely done. It's not Jared Deli Deli square, and they have the whole gear Delhi family. They pretty much owned San Francisco Hershey's Who and the sour dough people. So I didn't know. Someone made a comment that's a very strange name. So my joke was strange name. That's the yeast of his problems because he's I don't think I don't think the punt. I don't think Elvis got this joke. We were talking about Matthew McConaughey and turkeys. I think he bought a bunch of turkeys for homeless people, or he did something. We bought a lot of turkeys. So I said they were good turkeys, but they were all white, all white, all white meat. Is that from a commercial? No, Matthew McConaughey is famous for saying in a movie, all right, all right, all right, So I said all white, all right over Matthew McConaughey fans laughing their asses off right now, of course I believe it, Okay, me not a Matthew McConaughey fan, not laughing my ass okay. So this was a little, a little fun poke at Barbara cochrane from Shark Tank, who was on today. I love her, by the way, and I love Shark Tank. Love Shock is probably the only show I watched regularly. Not a sponsor, but if they like to sponsor the show, that would be awesome. That'd be great. Uh you allowed, you could playing a lot for that reason, we're out, damn it. No sponsor for us. So Barbara cochran was saying how upset she was that she was voted off first on Dancing with Stars. I know that was pretty she she trained for five weeks for that and they voted her off on day one on the first night. So she said how she had to pick herself up and she was depressed for a little while, and then she realized, you know what, I'm gonna bounce back. I'm light on my feet. I'm gonna go and move on to my life. So the joke I wrote was, well, if you were light on your feet, you'd still be on Dancing with Stars. You didn't want to do that one. And this one that's actually I would have done. I would have that on my show LAS. Yeah exactly. Well, yeah, make him laugh, make um laugh, make um laugh. Wow. Nice. Uh. And so this one, this one is this is a I'm gonna read it only because I'm so proud of it. It was a used joke. We used it on the show, but I've slipped in a couple of these that I'm just it was my favorite joke of the week. We were talking about old um holiday toys, big toys for the holidays, Tickle me Elmo. What was the Ernie one singing snore? Ernie. I thought that was gonna be a big deal. Singing right. You bought a whole case of them because Tiko Mielmo was a huge thing, and they were going for massive amounts of money on eBay. So then the following year, I said, I gotta get Singing Snore Ernie and I gotta get a whole case to them. Because he has no kids, He's okay, So you have if you're if you're a parent or an uncle or a grandparent listening to the podcast and you've ever wanted that hot toy and you don't understand how they're sold out when you go because they just went on sales. People like scary buy a case from places that shouldn't sell more than the run so he can then sell the money Bay for a lot of money. He's he's that guy. I was in business with Hatch themals last year. Yeah, he was in business with hats. So people are like, hey, man, you're gonna hat. People were asking you for jingle Ball tickets and Hatch themals. I know I might be able to find a hatch themal. I know a guy scared? Is that guy hoarding toys? How? I said, oh you know what? Other toy was right popular one Christmas, the rubbing tug Burt. That joke went over very well. I was very proud of it. That's why there you go. Right, So it's like six, oh, there's people just chilling out the staring and high hi. Hi, very attractive women here today? Who are these people? Okay, Harvey, it's okay. I could say that because I can't hear you through the soundproof, right, Okay, But but you clients, you're making leering eyes. Don't do that. I'm not I'm not looking. You don't realize I'm not looking, thinking I'm not looking. Okay. You can't help looking the same way you can't help mentioning a sponsor. Okay, I'm just saying it's you know, when people are staring at you through a window, all right, okay, pop and circumstance. By the way, I didn't say anything wrong by saying someone's attractive. I think that it was the face you made. What face? You don't even realize it? What face? What did I do? Your face? Okay? Your your mind said, oh, very attractive, your face it But no, it's also you know what you know, you know why? You know why because there's four of them and not just one. And and that's the leader of cheerleader effect. That's what I was about me. Your mother, I was, oh, my god, you steal great minds. Think alike David Brodie. Cheerleader effect is so true in life. And what was Stimpson? What was the name of the character Barney Stimpson who played Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother? Patrick Patrick Harris. Right, So Abraham he came out with He came out with the cheerleader effect on one episode and I thought it was so brilliant. And the cheerleader effect you have to be carefully because you're rating. You have to Okay, I'm just gonna say. The cheerleader effect is when you have an average look an average looking person churelea. There could be a guy or but when you have several several average looking people together in a pack, you get the cheerleader effect and you think they're they're super attractive because there's more of them, right, Whereas if that person was in a room alone by themselves, you might just be like right. So that's a cheerleader effect. But I'm wondering if we're experiencing the cheerleader effect because there's multiple well, why don't you go out there and ask them? If they're not going out there, excuse me, are you very attractive or you marginally attractive, but since all four of you together, you appear to be. I'm talking about this happens in every day. The night is gonna take a picture of the four girls and posted on his Instagram. Not because now I'm they're facing away from me and I'm I'm putting as picks on my Instagram. By the way they were facing, they were facing forward, So that answers your question if they were tracked on. But no. But but we've all experienced the cheerleader effect in life too. It's like when you it's like if you're at a strip club or wherever, and you've got a lot and the strippers see like a bunch of dollar bills and you got they're all ones, and like you're flashing cash, but they were all ones. That's cheer that's kind of a cheerleader effect. Not because yeah, because you think they see full ones and think they're they see that they see this fifty ones and oh my god, the guy's rich because it's just a multitude of cash. But meanwhile there it amounts to like seven dollars. The guys flashing twenty seven dollars, but there's a lot of them. Whereas if I had one bill. It's not really you don't. You don't get that same effect. So remember last week on episode fifteen, when I talked to you, I give you the inside information about justin Verlander, and I said there were girls in every town. I taught you a little something. So I read an article recently. Our friend Joe from our class rock station down the Hall, goes to Canada all the time, and he sent me this article fascinating. There's a major difference in a part of Canada then America as far as strip clubs. What's the difference between Canadian American strip clubs. Okay, this is gonna be an unused punch line. For not a punch line. This is a fact that it is fascinating, which we got to talk about in the Big Show. I alos didn't want to talk about it, So it's a it's an unused topics topic. You see these talking about single dollar bills. Right, So when when you go to a strip club, ladies and gentlemen, if you go, when a stripper is in front of you entertaining you, you tip them, you give them a dollar. Some guys will do will hand them a dollar. Some guys will do the dollar between the boobs and they grab with the boobs. Some guys do a a gentle, nice polite talk in the g string. I'm boring, I've only thrown them on stage. I don't I don't even want you. And then some guys will put it in their mouth and then like want the girls to take it. That's the boobs, the boob grab, the boop snatch, which is the totally different thing. But the boob grab careful, right, right, they'll put them in their teeth, right, It's just, it's just whatever. Here's the problem in Canada. They don't have dollar bills. In Canada. They have dollar bill, dollar coins, and two dollar coins called the looney and the tuney. The looney has a loon on it, the bird called the loon, and the two They call it a tuny because it's well, it's worth two looni. The looney and the tuney are what you would give a stripper because it's the equivalent of one or two dollars. There's no paper dollar bill. That's not good. So some strip clubs will sell you for a dollar coin a dollar piece of paper, which makes sense to get right. They call it funny money. Right, funny money, right, from what I've heard strip clubs do that. From what we heard. We've never been there, but in the midwest of Canada. I think it's Alberta, the middle like like above Minnesota. No, the part in there like above North Dakota. There is a section that's a Canada's broken up into regions, is right, okay? In the album, I think it's the Alberta area, Saskatchewan. Yes, Yes, the guys throw coins at the girls and the girls have magnets. Shut up. Yes, And so some of the girls do target practice. They have like targets on them like they are magnetic, and you throw the coins and try to hit the target. Where's the bull's eye? Well, so later on in the performance some of them will do like a special sit on their button, open their knees up and you try to hit the bull's eye. Wow. But then so after the song is over, when they bring up casting to the main stage, casting to the main stage, Barbie, She's done on the main stage. So then what happens in American strip clubs. They go and they grab up all the dollar bills and they throw them in the bag or the basket, throw it in the bag. Okay, But in Canada, they get all the coins on the stage. So the girls go out with magnets and pick up all the looneys and tunis. That's amazing, it's brilliant. But you're throwing coins at them clank, I mean, doesn't seem right. That sounds that sounds great. So granted, Canada has universal healthcare, not a lot of gun violence, but they've got this problem. That's it's a little degrading. But then again, you're in a strip club and they're stripping. I don't know, listen, dancing is an art for many people making making the money. I don't know about degrading. Let's not throw adjectives around like that. But the point is make that money money money, that money money money. You're actually making it rain and it sounds more like rain they really. Maybe that's where make it rain came from. By the way, say I haven't spent these coins from last week by the same coins in my pocket, Hey, honey, Like that's not sexy. Yeah, well, you know how, you know how we've seen guys like Little John and Ludicrous they have the dollar bill gun, Daddy's got some coins. Daddy's daddy's got a role in his pocket and he says, or is he just happy to see you? You know how? You know guys like Ludacrote, we've seen this. They have like these, uh the dollar bill guns where press the button and it shoots dollar bills out all over the stage. Whoever, I wonder if they have a coin version of that in Canada or do you have like those guys that like the arcades and go never hold on, honey, here you go. That's fascinating. I don't think you need a coin shooter. You can just throw them. I'm not much of a strip club guy. I'm really not. You should go there, should go, but I really want to go. I want to go just to say that I went to a place. If you will you throw coins at targets on women? Yeah, but I wouldn't want to throw a coin in a woman. I wouldn't want to. I would feel that's like kind of by the way, last time I was after I heard that story, I went to Target, and I wanted to throw coins at the logo. Oh here comes you know what we should bring in? No, no, no, no, hold on, we might get we might get a sponsor. Well, let's let's grill this guy on the spot. Here's what Okay, every time you cross the lawn, you get that jungle Alex, go get him, Get at Alex and get him and put him on the mike. Hey, Alex, it's a soundproof from dummy Alex. Hey, come on in here. Okay, hold on, I'm gonna say I want to do it. Get any here, So hold on, people, get on the mic. Get in the middle of recording our Brooklyn Voice podcast. So, guys, so if you're you don't know who Alex is. Alex is the head of our sales department. That's the smart, easiest way to smart. Alex smart. He's got a fancy title, but for the sake of his podcast, he's in charge of all the accounts, all the sales people. Because I call you smart scary. Yeah, that's that's an oxy moron. And by the way, I'm oxy. He's more. By the way, I have a meaning to tell you. I've recently gotten into The Walking Dead for the first time, so I'm either like I haven't been watching anything at all on television because you can barely go anywhere without seeing right, it's the greatest shot. Yeah, it's awesome and thinks I'm creepy for watching it with the zombies and it's amazing. And by the way, uh, nice segue. I also do the Walkers and Talkers podcast, which is unbelievable and available on I Heart Radio sand iTunes. So, by the way, we had our biggest month last month, awesome, conciding with the season eight premiere of The Walking Dead. You gotta start selling that ship. Yes, speaking, we have a question a meeting last week we did. That's a sales team looking for sponsors for what? For the Brooklyn Boys. That's right, because we're the listeners know that we've been looking for sponsors. So so can you tell us a little bit about Yeah, where are we at with that? Because we have some ideas well. If we get the sponsors, we get the money, so you know, you guys get the money, the radio company gets the money, so we all keep our judgment. But but yeah, I mean you guys, who wouldn't want a sponsor the Brooklyn Boys? There's so many New York based Brooklyn businesses? Or he has the problem other national things. He has been plugging. Scary has been plugging his current clients for free on this podcast. No nothing free, nothing that's right, just like everything impressions we right, we call that added value, right. But I'm telling him this is not the place for his added value because I don't do that with all the clients. Alex has got me burn. That was a burn. But he slipped in a bunch to last week, full blown commercial so for the circus at one this week for his roast beef clients. So he's gotta stop. The audience wants to see where we where we're at though, because they always ask us, you guys get some sponsors yet, because because they want T shirts, they want stuff, So maybe a T shirt sponsor, something from a great company like let's say Model's. How do you go to Moses? Are you feeling confident about the future? Yeah, absolutely, we're confident about the future. You guys are kicking ass now why would we not? But by the way, look look look what you guys have done since what mid July I think you guys started. The numbers are ridiculous, See Alex, I actually shared with Alex our our numbers. Brodie and um, Brodie's having a microphone malfunction over here. You have to hold onto it. This is like a wardrobe malfunction. Pretty much. So. Yeah, well, well I just won't know if there's anything in the works. Maybe you know, and if you how can we help. How can the listener help get spots? Honestly, can the listeners help because we have a lot of people listening. What we need the listeners to do, or any of the great business to do, is just get in touch with us, let us, let let us know how we can help them. And you know, if they're a Brooklyn based business, New York based business, or try stay even if you know people should have them, have a business that want to spend money, have a marketing budget, they can get in touch. Importantly, forget the money stuff, because we figured that out. At the end of the day, it's really about driving results. I mean, you'd expect a guy like me to say that, but nobody's better in marketing in this business than some of you guys that I've met. That's that's so cool man, and and and by the way, and and and that's that goes above and beyond the on air stuff too. Scare I mean, somebody like you with the social integrations or doing on site events like we can do. All we could do a live Brooklyn voice from a location right like that. Why I just point out there's a pizza and a logo that's not like a hint and a bridge and a bridge got a bridge to sell you? But in all in all honesty, that would be amazing. So so Alex smart Alex over here is going to get us some spotsors. Okay, so let's not keep Alex any longer because he's got a closed deals. And the way, if you ever hear a sponsor come across this podcast and you're listening to the podcast right now, support it because that's what we'll keep the sponsor from coming back the podcast again. Yes, thanks, thanks guys. Thanks all right, cool, See it's good. See we put them on the spot and now we're gonna get results. That's how you do. Oh by the way, you're not gonna understand this, but if you get as sponsors, you can pay us in Canadian money. Yeah, it was just that's a call back from what we were just talking about. Nothing to do is fine. So there you go. I think we're good. I think we're okay for this week. All right, So you you're all ranted out? Yeah, I got more rants. I'll wait till next You always have another I gotta rant about my water heater. I'll talk about that next week. Alright's a good one. Scary and Brody back next week. Yeah, but Brody and Scary saying goodbye. Now it's a broken Boys podcast. Scary you know where we live, where we're from. Come on, Brooks Boys, Boys fo
I apologize for saying Scary in my initial email, so she actually took the time to correct my name. That's that's beautiful. I love you. Uh, that's I don't know, okay from Rachel, how would you pronounce g U I L l O T t E Rachel Guillot uh? Uh, she writes to the Brooklyn Boys, couldn't decide which of you to put. You put first? Because I love listening to both of you. Brodie's rants are hilarious and I agree with most of them. Scary, whoa, whoa? What rant? You got to be specific? What didn't you agree with? There was one that she didn't obviously you you like garbage pails, that's say, recyclables, all that stuff. Come. I'm scary your sounds you pull another one get stuck in my head for days. I recently found myself saying them during the podcast. Also, scary, complaining about Brody complaining is gold? I gotta digest that. Scary complaining about Brody complaining? Right? You complaining about my rants? Or you complaining about my complaining? How is that gold? They like that? Alright? Go with your recent episode with the Fat You, which was awesome. You should have him on as a regular All of you have a great vibe going and should continue the wonderful nonsense. Also, why aren't there more podcasts?
