Speaker 1: Alright, slices, here we go another episode of the Brooklyn Boys podcast. Let's get your pizza, Let's get things rolling, Let's get a slice. Come on, slices, that's right. Go to your app store, get slice, and we're gonna tell you how to save money later on in the podcast. Tell him right now, five dollars of your first order using code word Brooklyn, using slice at slice and of course slice life dot com. Show them some love. Startf dot up, Start up Brooklyn by start up Brooklyn Boys. Start data. They're making noise data dot up. Episode one three of the Brooklyn Boys podcast. Hello, Hello, Cruel world. It was eight degrees today in New Jersey. Yeah we did. My pool opened yesterday? Yeah so was You're just in time? Yes, so in your pool this afternoon. No, dude, you don't know how pools work. So I don't have a hard cover of a mesh cover, which means water can flow into it all year, right, so in the winter, so the pool, uh doesn't get a garbage and snow on it and it the snow and the water. You have mesh so that you can have water go in and out of the cover. Otherwise you need a vacuum on top of it like a pump to get the water off right. So my pool opens with leaves in the bottom and uh and anywhere from dark gray to black water. This year it was just like gray. I had a good wind, so my pool will be clean and about three days then I have to vacuum it. But you can't. I can't living where I do in the cover I have. I can't just jump in the pool of day it opens first world problems. Yeah, what's it like to have a pool? You you yell at me about my expensive equipment. You say that we've covered this, but yeah, you spent You spent nine point four million dollars on your sound system, and you pay extravagant amount of money for lunch. Here's what you do. You pay thirty dollars for breakfast, but you eat it later in a day and call it brunch. You pay nine four cents for your internet service because you're cutting out NonStop. It sounds amazing, by the way, No, you're cutting out. I hear you as an echo, like metallic robot. This is terrible. This is absolutely Let me check my WiFi. I'm on full I'm at full power. Here, hold on, you do that there, Bertie, I'm looking at you. Have you have a thousand up and a thousand down, a gig gigabyte up and a gigabyte down. I believe I have more than that. There is no more than that. That. That's Verizon FiOS. That's the maximum speeds. You got that, then that's what I have. All right, Well, tell you tell all your kids and your wife to turn off all of the equipment that they're using, because they're sucking the power from the basement to wherever they're using it, and then it's causing us to have a repeater. I have Google Home, so I have Google WiFi, so it's it's I have a repeater right upstairs from the basement. Here a few steps up. Boom, ready to go. A couple of hot dogs. Earlier, they're repeating on me. That's a nice segue. You know. I gotta tell you just before this, I uh, how to take a whiz khalifa before you start. We're ready to start, and you're like, I'm ready to go, Like I gotta pay yeah, and and um, I got some in there. I got surprised. I went to go wash my hands, and I have one of those soap pumps next to the sink, and I have this, uh, this liquid soap in there, right, that's what would be in a pump, right. I don't think the liquid soap that I have is right for the type of pump I have. Why because I think the soap dries in the pump. And so I went to go, good, do a little a little squirt, yeah, and it literally wouldn't come out. So I had to hit it a end. Apparently there was dried soap in the nozzle of the soap dispenser. So I hit it a third time and all of a sudden went and it literally squirted all over my fucking shirt. And the soap is white, it's a white liquid soap. You've had that problem before as your own day one, So I had, I literally had this. If people could only see me now, if this was only a video project. We've all seen that movie at one point in our lives. Geez, like, literally it's squirted. It literally went all over my shirt. A dollar I want to start charging you a dollar for literally, by the way, like literally like literally literally literally literally yeah, like I sound like yeah a chick from Highaliah, that was you. That was Scary Jones who said that, Well, they say a lot of Listen, Hiliyah dialect is like literally like super, they say like super. We're talking about Florida. That is, Yes, in South Florida. There's a section near Miami where some people there speak that way. Well, we have an accent. Were from Brooklyn. Listen, pect be proud. You don't have an accent. You have an accident here, you got an accent. I got a lot to a lot of little things this week. I want to make sure I get to to all of them. People get mad at me, so I'm not going to mention what they are and I've got I'm going to mention one thing. We have an audio clip of some really bad beeping out of profanity on television that I'm very excited to play later. We should mention. Yep, we have a big we have an important interview coming up later on. That's where I was going to get to. Yes. Absolutely. In fact, we'll just just tell you right now. Um, the guy who founded Slice, which we've been talking about and we're proud to partner with, he is going to be with us. And you know what's great about him, He's like one of us. He sounds like us. He's from our general area, New York, and we just want to thank him. And at some point I'm gonna ask him the ultimate pizza question. Now that we got we got some business out of the way, we can return to stupid ship. So I was trying to work on my lawn this past weekend, right, And so I ordered about a week ago a few yards of dirt. You know, the yard of dirt is scary. Um a yard of dirt, how could a cubic yard? Yeah, so it comes into square or something like that. Well, no, it means. It means it's enough dirt, I guess to cover a yard of your lawn. But that's my bigger than your yard. Then again, it's like it's like square footage. So it's a certain amount of dirt. It's a specific amount of dirt makes a yard. Right, So I ordered three yards of dirt, and I went half of my like a bale of hay or like a ream of paper. Yeah, it's right, it's a big pile of dirt. Really, let's just call it what it is. And so neighbor and I went half while we went partnership to split the delivery fee, and he got two yards. I got three yards, which is five yards total. So it's a giant mountain of dirt on my lawn. Now, the deal was that I could use his wheelbarrow, because he's got a really good one that he shares with his mother, leaves at her house whatever. And he's like, oh, yeah, you can use the wheelbarrow, no problem. Well, the dirt arrived on Wednesday and I wanted to start putting it out, so my wife doesn't yell at me for a big mounted dirt on the lawn on Thursday and then Friday, and so he didn't get the wheelbarrow from his mother. So I'm getting the evil eye from my my wife like, hey, what's with the dirt? Let's go. So I started looking online. I said, you know what, I could probably pick up a used wheelbarrow on Craig's list on Facebook, you know, somewhere, probably for not a lot of money. I don't care if it's you dirty or rusty a little bit. I just want to move some dirt, you know, if it's twenty bucks whatever. And here's what I found. There's more wheelbarrows listed on for sales sites as wheel Barrels. Then will barrow b A R E. O W. Wheel barrow. Oh yeah, because it's a common mistake that people make a spelling. So I was searching for wheelbarrow, and I wasn't getting a lot of you're not going to because people think it's real wheal barrel, so you gotta you gotta intentionally misspell it in order to get what you might find. I had to search for wheel barrel to find wheel barrels, even though they a dick and did you did you like? No, I correct everybody. I didn't do I didn't. I didn't do that. Excuse me. It's b A R O W. Now here's the thing. If it was Facebook, I might have said, hey, I'm really interested in your wheelbarrow, right, just kind of like laying it out there let them absorb it. But it was almost all on Craigslist, and you have to go through email and everything, and they I want to go through that. I bet you. It's just My point was, as you get ready for the spring, people, it's not a barrel. But I bet you there's a lot of stores that have just pretty much, you know, raised the white flag and said you know what, we're gonna spell it, are gonna lean into it. If you see a sign that says we're going in the store says wheel barrel. Take a picture of it and send it to us. I bet you're gonna find a lot because they're just gonna People have given up on it. That's a word that people have given up on. And if you're a slice and you're today years old, when you learn that, uh, you're welcome, no harm, no fali. It happens. You were picking up dirt and transporting dirt over the weekend for your yard or whatever you're using it for. Yeah. Um, I had a fucking insane weekend in Nashville. I was. I was partying it up. I had the best time. I encourage people to do less of what Brody did this weekend and more traveling get out there. Oh my goodness. Yeah, because I chose that. I said, you know what, I'm rather than travel boy, I'm gonna move dirt around on my property. I got to see some former members of the show a Brooklyn Knight, ron both freak Ron Ronnie, you used to work on a show with us. You saw three of our four friends in Tennessee and Nashville. Yeah. More more of the show and employees I know in Nashville than I did. You traveled a couple hours by playing to go see people that you probably wouldn't have hung out with in New York. I'm not this week. I listen. I know we all love those guys, but you know you got to travel and see them. But you you're known for that, You're known for going places and visiting radio stations and people. You know, right, you did leave out. As I pointed on the Fifty Minute Morning Show podcast, you didn't get a chance. We'll say, We'll say was nobody's fault. You didn't get a chance to visit our buddy, Ricky Sanche and Ricky was on our has been on this podcast many times, more most so in the earlier episodes as part of the twenties Something is Doing Nothing podcast with with other former intern Jake Yes. Now, the thing about Ricky is, you know, you know, I know Ricky about three four years now, maybe five, you know, I know, I know bold freak Rannie thirty five years. Had to be able to do that. There was you know, there was a lot of people I wanted to see, but we couldn't. We couldn't get everybody, but Ricky. Well, that's not true. There was some other people I wasn't able to catch up with. But you know, it's It's really cool, Brodie, because when I wasn't done talking about Ricky though, there was a point I was go for a So Ricky got a job. She's on the Woody and Jim Show down in Nashville. She is now the official co host of the Woody and Jim Show. So I'm very proud of her. I listened to the first episode of I Heart Radio. She's great. She's on their social media. I'm not saying listen to their podcast instead of our podcast. I would never say that. That's what Scary does. That's not me. I'm just want to congratulate her slices. You guys know who she is. She's been on this podcast, she got a job another it's our third co hosting job I think in radio. So good for her. She's very talented and that's why she moved to nat Field. That's why she's down there. So I'll see her next time. But I have to say, it's really cool running into the big wigs of the company because I ran into one of the one of the head han shows. While our company moved the entire digital team in Nashville. Yeah, so what ended up happening. It's like, what do they call that, like Silicon Valley East? It was? It was. It's a big giant hub of network of computers and people and and barbecue and a lot of that. So people. So so the one of the big wigs of our company was there and ran right into him in the in the restaurant. Had no clue he was even living in Nashville. And after a nice conversation, we sat down at dinner and he sat down at his table with his family, and all of a sudden, boom, here comes two bottles of Moet Shandon. I'm like, what, don and you got it going on? And you know I rolled the best weed because I got it going Oh yeah, thank you Snoop because yeah that's Snoop. Yeah. So anyway, I'm like, I didn't order this, did you know? I didn't, did you? And then all of a sudden, they started handing out like champagne glasses like this is courtesy of the table over there, Mr Dunn Meta, And I'm like, oh my god, look at this, this is great, thank you so much. I went over to the table. I thanked them, but It's always cool when you know you you run into one of the people that are higher up in a company than you somewhere because you know that something good is coming. Right, they treated us well, well, let me ask you a question, miss you a question. Did he treat you? Or did I Heart Media treat you? In other words, was it like him taking out his credit card and paying for it? Like I'm pretty sure he did. He was he was on family time at dinner on a Saturday night. Of course it had to be him. Okay, he's a good guy. He's a great guy. I'm just you go ahead and say he's been he's been a big supporter of this pod cast. Anyway, listen, I like Dan. I just was wondering, like, you know, because some people I'm not gonna mention names, not not Dan, but I I had someone say to me, oh, we should go out to dinner one night, this one this is a different company something dollar dinner and he put it on the company card and then was like sort of waiting for me to say thank you, and I did, of course he said thank you. But then he I felt like he was acting like he took me to dinner when he used the company lead to steak dinner because I could tell you I know it was. Here's but here's the This is no different than the steak dinner outcome because if you remember the steak dinner outcome, was you trying to get a free dinner off of me. That's all I would feel pain in my wallet. That's all you cared about is that I felt pain in my wallet and the fact that it was for free at the end of the meal. Who knew it was going to happen. That's a thank you to the guy who bought it for us at the restaurant. You will, yeah, you were like, um, okay, you still on me a free steak dinner. You still on me dinner. So it's almost like someone took you out to dinner in this case and put it on the corporate card. They didn't really take you out to dinner, No, they I'll tell you why they did, because they didn't. Oh, I didn't owe me anything. They didn't owe me like you do. That being said, I don't know if our steak dinner buddy is still working at the steak place, so if we go back, we may have to pay for dinner. I'm gonna pay full price. Well, yes, you walk, you still owe me at dinner. Well let's move on anyway. Yeah, but anyway, So there's that, and the other thing is uh. In Nashville, it was so liberating to be walking around the streets, hanging at it bars like you know. It was. It was so much fun. There was so many people there. It was it was. It sounds the exact opposite of what I would do if I'm much better. It would dig and digg int the shovel in the dirt and the wheelbarrow. You know what, while you're at it, why don't you dig your own fucking hole and crawl into it and then throw the dirt on it. Because you're not living. I'm living. I'm having a good listen. I got a pool and that I'm gonna be in a few days. By the way, I expect. I fully expect an invite this year. I fully vaccinated. Nah, I'm vaxed and waxed. As they say, my chest and my chest, my chest will be shaved. I'm telling you right now, there's a chlorine shortage. I can't You're not gonna have you in your shortage. You're not gonna have me in your pool. We are gonna I'm gonna had you in my pool previously, why would I start. Now? What I'm gonna do is, I'm gonna bring some broadcast equipment and we are going to do our podcast from your hot tub. I have neighbors. No, we're not doing We're not broadcasting from We're doing Brooklyn Boys from the from the from the hot tub. No, I don't know what world you're living in. Why not? No, we're not doing the hot tub because we first of all, it's gonna be it's gonna make sounds. You can't do that. We can add, we can, we can. We can make it a bubble bath. The thought of you in my water, you know what it's like sharing a tub with you. We'll call it babble bath. That would be the title of the episode. Will not, We will not. If you want, I'll come to your apartment at some point. You can get in your tub and I will sit out in the living room on the front on the on the hard couch, and I'll talk into my microphone. You are something else, You're a piece of outside. Why don't you want me in your pool? If you're a slice tweet scary, If you'd like him to come to your house and be in your pool. You know that they would have me. They was fine, that's good. Look at you, you're the worst. I'm not the worst. I'm top ten worst, but I'm not the worst. Come not the worst. Uh speaking of of having me, which has nothing to do what I'm gonna tell you. You put up your stuff on social media, right, You put up all your pictures and video. People could follow along with your trip to Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee. Right. So, while today's Wednesday, as we're taping this Sunday, I think it was Sunday, Sunday afternoon. I got into a tiff on Instagram. You don't say, yeah, because I commented positively on a news story from a news outlet that I follow on Instagram. They put up something and I said something like that's great or something like that, something just positive. I felt the need. Right, But now that I'm verified on Instagram, I guess it's dangerous because you have that blue checkmark, so your comments tend to stand out a little bit, you think, and so someone who, let's just say, someone who feels the polar opposite of how I felt about this particular topic, decided to get nasty with me. So I went back and forth within reason. This is how you spent your Sunday. No no, no, no, it may have been Monday, would make you feel better for it was Monday. Let's because it wasn't the weekend. It wasn't the weekend. I know it was Monday because I had to I had to email Tony, who runs our digital team in New York. So it was Monday. So we went back and forth. At some point they snapped at me. Now I already checked that they were not they don't follow our show, right, they didn't seem like they were from New York. Because I definitely don't want to argue with a listener. That's the last thing I want to do. So after about four or five you know you sucks back and forth, they said, your why and hundred hasn't been good since Scott Shannon left. Now Scott Shannon left nine something like that. He left a long time yet to know that reference, uh, he started on our home stations. Person is in their sixties. Clearly, however, it doesn't matter. So I kind of let it go at that. I was like, all right, you know what, I don't need them arguing with me as someone that works at our radio station, if you're gonna get that way, like, I was just like, goodbye, done, okay, fine. That was maybe five six o'clock in the afternoon. At eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock something like that. I finished my work. I get into into bed and uh, everyone else in the house is sleeping, and I I said, you know what, I just want to check Instagram one more time before I go to bed. And oh, you know what it was. I was on TikTok and one of the guys I follow for for comedy, he said, check out my Instagram. So I clicked the Instagram button and it said no account found. I said, that's weird. He has an account. Why would it say no account found. So I was like, oh, maybe he's got having a problem with his Instagram. So I went to another another guy follow and I went and I wanted to check out his Instagram and it said no account found. That's weird. This guy has no Two people don't have Instagram. That's weird. I said, let me just go to Instagram directly and go to their accounts. And when I went to Instagram, scary you would have you would have killed, you would have died. It said my account wasn't found none, and my name was there with the blue dot, but none of my posts were there, none of my d ms were there. Did you get suspended? Were you put in Instagram jail? Well, that's what I thought. So I checked my email. I logged out, logged back in, figuring maybe get a warning message. Nothing. Nothing. So I'm panicking. I'm like, did this woman report me for a nasty comment? Because I didn't curse her. You know, I may have said like, you're an idiot, but I didn't say anything horrific or you know, offensive, I didn't use profanity like but but I had this fight. So now I'm thinking I must have done something that somebody reported me, and I'm I'm barred. I'm blocked. I couldn't figure it out. How long were you barred for? Well, so I emailed Tony, the head of our digital team, and I'm like, you gotta help me. I'm sending him screenshots. I'm like, there's no account. I just got verified. Oh my god, my accounts disappeared. So I said, you know what, let me just try one more thing. So I I changed my password. That didn't work. So then I logged in through a web browser, and when I logged in the Instagram dot com, it said, you have a post that violates our terms of service. It's spreading UH. It could be a violation of UH security. That might be compromising your account, like I said that you may have given away your password or vital information, like as if maybe I posted my credit card or something, which I certainly didn't do. So it says click here to remove the post. We'll comment. So I'm like, all right, well I'll click it. And the second I clicked it, everything came back. Oh wow, what was the what was the post? I have no idea. It didn't tell me. It didn't say like, here's a screenshot, or it just said it was a coincidence. Had nothing to do with the person you're having with the crazy lady, nothing to do with her and her wrong opinions. It had to do with nothing. By the way, opinions can't be wrong because their opinions, just so you know, trust me, they were so wrong. They were wrong. Alright. Only facts can be wrong, not opinions. I'm just letting you know you're going you don't want to do that. Don't have right or wrong. That's why they called opinions. All right, let me rephrase. She was throwing facts at me that were incorrect. Is that better? Better? I'm happy, So thank I got my Instagram back. Now that's really my But how fighting? Is that scary? What would you have done if your Instagram was gone? Um? I happened to me. It happened to me a while ago, a while back. Uh, same same exact thing. Though it was a it was a weird post. But I was able to get Tony, the master of ceremonies, to to jump on it because he seems to have an in with those Instagram corporate types. Yeah. I knew, like if I was just like Joe Instagram guy, I would have been like and I would have gone crazy. Part of me was like, Tony'll fix this. Tony does have a way of fixing things. Um, all right, you know we have a lot of sound to go over. I know with this some email and still don't never do sound early. We can do sound early. Let's do it now. Let's do it right now because I haven't pulled up right. You know, we have the name of the clip and I'll say we have guys oh, okay. So when you want to play this clip, because this is a common mistake people make. It's a bit of a grammar police issue. But listen to the way this guy is trying to say, um uh, this belongs to play the clip on. I'll describe it. Sounds from your guys is reporting like investigators are right there, guys is your guys is right? So property of guys, guys, your guys, your guys. It's not guys, it's guys. This guy was an expert. So I was like, you know, you don't pluralize guys with putting apostrophe s ter. What you do is you add an s after that. You had the apostrophe after the s. I have cash cab. Okay, So I want you to h if you guys, remember Scary Uh yelled at me about four or five episodes ago that nobody knows what Frank sensamaras nobody. Most people don't, Alright, So this was a question on cash cab from a few years ago. Play the clip. Here's your next question for a hundred one of the gifts carried by the Three Wise Men, what aromatic residence is produced by hacking at the bark of a tree called the William strike one Frank so they had half of it right, they knew it was one of them. It was, but it was well enough, well known enough that it was part of a cash cap question. And the girls immediately like, oh, Franken Cinsemar. Yeah, I'm still standing by the fact that half half of the people were not taught that in Catholic religion, and I was part of that half. Sorry, apparently they taught it at the Hebrew School, so they must have. All right, Okay, I know we have some sandwich clips for the first one. What does it say? Sandwich one? Sandwich one? Is there a sandwich too? There is well, I don't know what this is, playing the sam oh, I know what it is. Okay. So the Mets, New York Mets have a first baseman named Pete Alonzo. Now Pete is not only very talented when Rookie of the Year set the home run Reste polar Bear, but Pete is part of a new generation of ballplayers. Remember a ball baseball players were, you know, they were loud and brash, but they didn't curse necessarily in interviews. Well, Pete's one of these guys who's like social media generation of ball players. And so the Mets slogan, the fans slogan, the cheer is let's go Mets, right, and on Twitter on social media, let's it's LGM hashtag LGM right, right. So he two years ago he decided, let's fucking go Mets, and now it's l f GM, and that caught on. That's the kind of guy Pete is. I'll say what I'm gonna say. I don't care if the mike's a rolling whatever. So I want you to hear the clip. This is the second clip. So after the game, he did a he did an interview and he slipped. He said something. He cursed right on the original broadcast. I'll play that second, but I want you to hear when they re ran the interview how it sounded. So one feels like it was like eating sandwich, to be honest with you, Um, but I mean it's it is what it is, and we have to go home and and really and really focus on a time. So he said. He asked him, they said, how does it feel to lose? You lost this game as a sandwich? He said, it's a ship sandwich, right, But I want you to hear what it sounded like live Now. The dead silence is when they were beeping him, they dropped the audio out right. There must have been on delay, so they hit the button to dump out of him. Here's how it sounded the first time to shit Sandwich and really focus on yeah, everything exceptive word. Yeah. So you're like nothing, nothing, nothing, and you're looking at the TV, going what are they beeping? And he goes, ship Sandwich. Couldn't play it again and again that ship sand that defeats the purpose. You know how difficult it is to beat everything, but the one thing I wanted you couldn't do it on purpose. And now we have a telephone Scamboni coming up. Oh so um, I'll follow this up. I want to you know what, Let me let me get the the emails I got, because it must be the season. It must be the season where people are trying to scam you now for the spring, because it's just NonStop scams. So I got an email from Amazon and it says, thank you for shopping with us. If you need to return an item from this shipment or manage your orders, called toll free, and it's a number that's not that's not Amazon, and it says order details and it says meeting owl pro whatever a meeting owl pro is. I allegedly paid eight hundred seventy nine dollars for it. Yes, but I can call them and give them my credit card information to cancel the transaction. Yes, no, no, no, dude, dude, stop, I'm reading an email I got. It is just part of it. No, and then I got another one from Sarah Burry. So it's it's info at Bury Sarah. I don't know what that is. That's not real. We have got great news for you, friend. This is an email I got a balance of seven fifty dollars is available for your cash app account. Click here to log in. Yes, you don't have a cash account. I don't have a cash I don't have it. So that's a scamboni right there. But here, I want to listen to this call now, because again I'm being bombarded. Listen to this. Yes, good day, Welcome to P. S. E. And Gine, New Jersey. This is an automated call to inform you that your account reflectsed this connection order taking place today. Do to non payment history, pressed too to be transferred to our billing department, or please contact us at nine eight you blah blah blah, that's not that's not. Play at the beginning again and see where they put the pause with the comment and the sentence. That's how you know it's fake. Good day, Welcome to P. S. E. And Gine, New Jersey. This is an automated call to inform you that your account reflectsed this connection order taking place today do to non payment. You're taking place today today? Yeah, no way, yeah, oh god, no, no company would call like that. No, no way. They will have a lot more professional professionalism to it. We are calling you that. Yes, yeah, sounded like Yoda for a second. But the stop stop with the scams. I but if you're from another country scamming, screw you. But if you have from this country, you know how bad it is to get scammed, you know, annoying? Stop it? Yeah, stop cut the ship, cut the ship. Yeah. You know, we have a lot of email that we didn't get to either, and I feel bad because there's some people that were scamboni, some people that wanted to talk about free dessert. I don't know if you want to get into that, but yeah, I got a lot of a lot of d m s. I was gonna read that are funny. So if you want to do that here, you know what I feel like we should do. Why why don't we do the emails now and then later I'll do some of the d M stuff. Yes, and then we're also going to be talking to our boy Eliir from Slice this segment too. Mail talk that change like it's mail time. Welcome, You've got mail? Yes, we do. You can always email us at the Brooklyn Boys Podcast at gmail dot com. Oh my god, Kate from Maine, she's back and she needs free dessert. She booked a Discovery Cove tickets through a company that rhymes with text to Pidia, but I couldn't go for obvious reasons. Wearing a mask in eighty five degree weather isn't for me. Anyway. After many hours on hold with text and many online chats with customer service, we were promised countless times that they would reach out to Discovery Code for a refund. Weeks later, long story short, they say that Discovery Code denied their request for a refund. I wasn't willing to leave so much money out there, so I reached out to Discovery only to find out they never declined our request and their finance department had sent the refund a day earlier. What the fuck? Textpedia eventually refunded us almost a thousand dollars. So that's the scamboni. But here's the deal. I spent hours and weeks trying to get our refund and now I want free dessert. But I'll never used this third party again. What type of dessert am I do? Well? If if you want the easiest way to get free dessert, you have to use this service again. They have to give you like a fifty hundred dollar credit towards your next time using Textpedia. Right, if they want to keep your business, they need to give you some out of credit. If you don't use them again, They're not gonna just send you money, so it behooves them to keep you by giving you a hundred dollars or two if you're next the next time you use Textpedia. And by the way, I got a lot of d ms about people who also had problems with Wink Wink Davis tire discount tire um. Alright, so Carla hesseltein said, Uh, she's my favorite chocolate beverage. She's from More Hesseltine pleased, Uh, can't hand did Connecticut checking and started listening a few months ago. And I'm listening in order episode sixty five here, and I'm hearing is the one where we argued and talked. Yep, I'm hearing about your book. And I hope that by the time I'm well caught up, Brody announces that this infamous book has been published. Oh boy, here we are episode one seventy three, and it is not. It has not been published, although I'm sure it's in the works. Anyway. I bought two sweatshirts from your your Brooklyn Boys merch store, and finally I know what most of the hashtags mean on the blue and orange hoodie. I will be rewarding myself with a third hoodie once I'm all caught up. I love you guys. Hashtag scary and Brodie. Oh wait, but earlier she wrote hashtag Brodian scary. She got a little bit of all right. So that that's Carla, and uh so, thank you so much. By the way, we do have a merch store. It is live. There's more stuff going in there every day. Always check back Brooklyn Boys dot big Cartel dot com. That's Brooklyn Boys. Oh shit, what do you do that? Disrupting the balance of the force. That's I'll start over. No, no, no, you start over. No, you don't start it over. You messed up. I don't know what up. You know what the whole there's like, the whole space time continuum is messed up. Well, let me say this, Um, I believe at the time by the time you hear this, there's gonna be a gift with purchase. You're gonna get a surprise gift while supplies last. Oh, the Brooklyn Boys, did you not? Did you not read the latest email from our boy Matt from the Brooklyn Boys Merch store. No, because the email before the last one was some of our new designs. That that's all I can think about, is the new designs. We look at the most recent email, look at it, Prodi slices, get excited. If if there was every yeah, if there was well I'm not gonna say what it is, but if there was ever a chance to buy merch. Okay, if there was ever a chance to buy it, buy it now, because for a limited time only free surprise gift any purchase you see it now, So make a purchase in our in our store. At the time that you're hearing this, this is like the Sloman's doorbell camera. You get a doorable camera, you get adorable camera. You're gonna get a free gift with purchase. It's a surprise, is uh and if you want feel free. It's a nice little thing. It's a it's a thing. It's a nice little thing. And it's Brooklyn Boys branded too, which I love so please. By the way, Jenevic, we've talked about him on By the way, he was given the surprise. Yeah, he got the surprise Jenevick. Uh yeah, yeah, Jennevick. Jennevic pointed out something that he said, Oh, I just want to let you know, uh uh, there was something something with the and I said, no, it's not actually a problems customer service. He got a new item even though technically his original item was not a problem, but he thought it was a problem. So I was like, you know, let's get another item. So he got a new item from Matt, and Matt hoped him up with the surprise item in edition. Yes, and now you cann't get the surprise item. Wild supplies last at Brooklyn Boys dot Big Cartel dot com. That's Brooklyn Boys that Big Cartel dot com. Can I ask you a question. We were talking about hotels. I know you're reading email, but I don't want to forget this. And you're a casino guy, right, you go to casino a lot. I love going to casinos. I just don't go as often as I would like. In fact, when the world is back to normal scary, I think we should go to Atlantic City together or Mount Airy Casino in the Pocono Yes, I feel like we should go to a casino together, for sure. So I'll dabble with a little gambling. Good. I like watching you play at black jack. Good. I like that good. But here's my thought. When you go to Atlantic City, they throw the rooms at you pretty much. They're like, oh, come down, seventy dollar room, eighty dollars maybe chips, right, And why do they do that Because they're betting pun intended that you will lose more than they gave you. Always, that's why they do it. I was looking over spring break a couple of weeks ago, right when we were April fifth week we were off, and said, you know what, I'm gonna do a little midweek. I know a lot of people are off, but I'm gonna go to an area casino. I'm not gonna call them out because I like them and I want to go there. And did you go no? Because I wanted to book a room on a Tuesday to a Wednesday Tuesday a hundred dollars. Oh ship, it was probably because everyone was ever the mothers on spring break that week. But now I looked again and the rooms basic rooms, they were almost two all right, So here's my question. Shouldn't you be charging me nothing so I can come there and lose money and eat at your restaurants and buy your your merchandise and y because a lot of these places and now self contained with his like six restaurants and rated gambler, so they have no proof that you're gonna spend any money. So that's the problem. Last time I was there, I gambled. Oh here gambled, and I played the Walking Dead video game. So I don't know if I can credit for that. Look at you. That's the kind of guy they won there, someone who's pumping quarters into their video games. Listen, it was like a dollar for three places. This David Brody guy from North Jersey to come down and sleeping our rooms and eat our food for free so he could play The Walking Dead dr game. That's right. I was racking up time and then I was like, hey, can I get free buffet? They're like no, no. It was like when I was on the video game for like an hour. Tony Raggio said he saw this comment on Reddit and says, what do you? How do you? What are you making this? He here's the comment. He has exactly slightly less than zero point four seconds to react? What that's what, Tony? He just screenshot at that, he goes, what the fund does that mean? He has exactly slightly less than zero point four sex and seconds to react? Okay, you remember that clip we played early on in our podcast where we played the guy saying it was a little less than over a minute, Yes, little less than all a minute. Same thing. It's word. It's word vomit, it's word salad. It's like when you take those little magnet words and you put them together to make sentences that says someone just vomited out words. It makes no sense. Say it. Read it again. It said he has exactly slightly less than zero point four seconds to react. None of that. He has slightly less exactly well exactly, there's nothing. Okay, so slightly less than zero point four. But it's if it's exactly slightly less, that's the that's the conundrum, right, or that's the I don't know what. I don't know. I'm not even gonna try. My brain hurts um. Peter may hilarious. Uh he may not, you know, h uh. Brodie's Brodie's referred to cavetching on episode It's catching catching anyway. I I sent through this clip and I thought you might enjoy it. And this is the clip that that he said, the usually this Jewish woman family guy, that's the mother from family. But no, it's actually an actually a woman with glasses on TikTok explaining cavetch, thank you so much, not cavetch. It's catch huhtvet nott no catch, no catch because you'm tight catch You don't say so what you say? It's one? How do you? How does a K and a V work together with to be one? One syllable? Fetch? Catch wow like stretch okay um anyway. Kristin Dufraine also had a Davis tire problem. She listens from upstate in the listeners in episode zero. Sitting here listening to episode two can't tell you how horrendous the services at Davis Tire and then she goes into her story about, uh, you know, the two tires need to be replaced. Uh, and then being a novice, she didn't think too much of the anti lock Oh. On my way home, I drove off the road when I went to slow down, not slamming on the brakes at all, and my anti lock breaks deployed, scaring the absolute ship out of me. Being a novice to car issues, I didn't think much of it that day, but the issue got continued. Getting concerned. I google it to find various results, only to find out that it was Davis's tires fault. My suspicions were correct. They put two different sized tires on my fucking car, one in the actual funk. They replaced the tires, apologized, but I will never again do the Davis tire. Fuck you, Davis Tire. I don't even think I'll even ever trust the business that doesn't know that you need to put the same size tires on your car. How can I That's like, that's your job, that's your one game, dude, you had one job, that's what they do. Wow, that's terrible. I hope I would have gotten something out of that if I having to go back. Hey, uh, I did want to read something real quick because you mentioned that guy who said like a little more than a quarter of a second, like it didn't make any sense. So I was reading up on a on a particular rock band on Wikipedia, right, and this is what it said. Following the death of the bassist, exactly one year and thirteen days later, the group hired another play another band member. They wrote, exactly one year and thirteen days later. Why would you say exactly exactly exactly is redundant? It's exactly one year later? You're like, wow, a year later another guy died in the band exactly one year and was it the exact second? Is that what you're telling me? In the exact second atom and eleven seconds the guy died, and exactly a year and thirteen days later to the second, you hired another guy. That pissed me off. So I changed that because I'm not blocked from Wikipedia anymore now. David Cito has a bone to pick with you, Brodie. Um, I'm a huge fan of you guys. Every everything you guys do. End it there, all right, scary You can come swimming in my pool anytime you want. Right. Did he just listened to the podcast that we just recorded? What are you talking about? I just asked for people to tell you if they you could go swimming in their pool, and he's saying, you know, he knows that I need a pool to be to swimming. Anyway, The reason why I'm emailing you is I have an issue with the both of you, but mainly Brody saying when he is checking out in a store, he waits online. Where I come from, we wait in line, I want to tweeted. I texted him back. He texted, in the show, I want to hear the explanation of waiting online in a store. Is there a line on the floor that I'm missing? Are you waiting on the internet in the store? L O L if I'm not mistaken, and I might be wrong, but I was taught that the people make a line and be by being part of said line that puts you in line, not online. Please let me know if I'm wrong and if it's grammatically correct the other way. Thank you for playing. Thank you for playing The Brooklyn Boys WOP on episode one seventy two, that was the last episode. My daughter loved it. Oh shit, I'm real listening right now on episode Wow, this guy started, He's back to episode twenty one. Listen to this. I miss you guys going back and forth about whose name is said first. I missed that. Okay, all right, so David Cito. It's it depends where you're from. It's like it's like in New York you can say I live on Long Island. Some people say I live in Long Island, right, you live you live in Staten Island. You live on Long Island. I don't know why that is, but you get online. You know why because you get on the end of the line. Oh, there's the line, I'm gonna get on the end of it. I'm gonna get on it. There's a line forming. I'm getting on it, right, But you can be in. Once you're in it, you're in it. But if you're on the end of it, you're on the end of it. You can say on you on the end of the line, I'm gonna get online. So it's it's it's a regionalism where the people from our region say, oh, I'm gonna get online over there. You're gonna join it. You're gonna be part of the line that's there. You're not really in it, you're on hold on, if you're on the end of something, are you in it or you next to it? Couldn't you then say you're next to the line, you're behind the line. That's why online is a better way of saying it. I think so, but that's but that's how I say it. The same side of this. This is the pecan pecan thing, so it's it's really where. Don't say you're queuing up because that's British. I can't take that. I'm getting in the queue. So the deal in the matter balls soups from from Amanda Bazynski. Hey, a man, that's a very Jewish name. My name is Amanda Bazinsky, huge fan. I'm a great name. Queen's native living in Hawaii. Watching the show Somebody Feed Phil. In season two, episode six, he goes to Somebody Feed Fills an amazing show on Netflix or Hulu. Don't tweet me it's there. Season two, episode six or Somebody Feed Phil. In this episode he goes Phil goes to the legendary New York institutions like z Bars and Defara Pizza. He also visits his mom, who admits to putting a lot of dil in her manta ball soup. At fifty eight minutes into the episode, he brings in celebrity chef Daniel Balloud, who, by the way, I went to the Daniel Blud Cafe when I was in the Bahamas with Romin a couple of weeks ago. You're saying, this isn't the email that was me. Okay, no, but he Daniel Bulloud, by the way, a famed and respected our big shot I know who, then puts dil oil in the soup. Brody, I knew this would make your head spin. Check it out. The segment would probably make for some good audio. If you're no, still is awesome, And by the way, liquid dill is not the same as but it just goes to show that a world renowned chef knows that dill belongs in mats soup. There are world renowned chefs that put octopus in things that I wouldn't like. They get creative. The problem with world class chefs is they have to reinvent the wheel, otherwise they're not world class chefs. That unless my grandmother put Dylan the mantster ble soup, I don't care about world class chefs. Your bubby, your grandmother that's who. It determines how you eat your mantster ble soup. What do you care if some guy, scary, some world class chef right decides to make chicken palm with gorgon sola and tofu. You're gonna call that chicken palm? No, right now, remind me because I said peacan and pecan. I've got a peak in story I want to get to after you don't want your emails? Alright, A couple of this one blew my mind. Well, Trevor Trevor uh Kgelberg says, Hey, Brooklyn Boys, my absolute favorite podcast. I had to go back and start from zero after I called the great name. After I start, after I caught up while waiting for the new episodes. You guys make the day fly by while I'm working on Pools. Keep up the good work. You you Fox you hashtag Skiri and Brody ps. I'd pay ten cents of podcast Slice for Life hashtag fuck you Pelican Pools. By the way, speaking of you, fuck you, which is a reference to my not only and I've told you this before, I love Michael Rabbitport, but not only did he not use my name when he signed up for the cameo app, right, because when you recommend the cameo app to somebody, that's when you get celebrities to record special greetings for you. I would have gotten two percent of his earnings had he used I sent him the code and he didn't use me. He used Bethany Frankel and he made like three hundred thousand dollars last year on the cameo app. And I would have gotten two percent of that. But he didn't use my name, didn't use your name nothing. Then I in it out to him when he was on our show that he's the only guy I know who who says you fuck you, because he would seem to get so excited and upset that he would like you you fuck you, like he was gonna say something now right now. He hashtags you fuck you the letter you fucking you and sells merchandise. It's great. It's got to stop telling people how to say money. It's a brilliant idea. Now we did get an anonymous thank you, and this is I guess directed at me. I work in the travel industry, and this is a reaction to the hate that Scary got for traveling to the Bahamas because I did get some hate. When I heard your plans to travel, I was so glad people like you are starting to travel again. Like Brody said, you did it the right way. Sorry, you have to deal with the haters. Fuck them. That's okay. Um. And by the way, I so much I didn't even get to Instagram. There's so many on Instagram. All right, Well, just I got stuff I'm gonna read later. Yeah, and and you're gonna be proud of me. Put ahead. Let me tell you my my peak in story real quick. So my wife says to me, how you going to Costco? Can you pick up the peacans? I like, now there, Um, they're like a jug, like a gallon jug of peacans, and they're sugar coated like you get them on the street from the vendors. They're candied peacans. Now, I forgot that they're called pralin peacans. So I was thinking that they were called candy peak heads. You know what I'm talking about, sugar drizzled over peacads. It's pure death, but it's delicious. It's got zero health benefit, right, it removes any health benefit you would have gotten from the peakan. Its right, right, So she says Hey, while you're at Costco, pick me up one or two. They didn't have them the last time I was there. Alright, no problem. So I go into the nuts ale and they don't have the candy peak heads. They don't have them. They have everything else. So I check out, I buy what I'm buying. I go to the customer service desk and I and I say to us Susie with an eye by the way, so I knew I was in trouble. There no offense, Susie with an eye. And so I said, hey, um, can you tell me if you're out of an item and when you're getting it back in stock or if it's discontinued. Yeah, sure, what's the item? I said, I'm looking for the what I think five pounds whatever it is, and I showed my hands. I said, it's about this big. It's a plastic jug of candy peacans. So she starts typing away and she's clicking like, yeah, I don't see those in the system. So the guy next to her, there's two people there, and he says, try again, you know, search under under peacans. She says, I don't see them. Do you know what who makes them? I said, I remember the label, and you know, I just stick my hand in. They're eating by the fistful. I said, but they're they're candy peacans. I don't know. So she says, let me go talk to my supervisor. She comes back. She says, I'm sorry. We don't sell we don't we don't have any candid peacans. Oh my god, she said, yeah, we don't sell candid peacans. Now, she didn't say clearly like that. I'm just saying it for the slices. I said, candid peacans. I said, are they peacans that are on us to open with you about their emotions? What does that mean? She didn't get the joke, by the way, if she can't spell candy, she thought, I said candid, So I said, um, what are candid peacans? She said, I don't know, but we don't sell them anymore. I said, I'm so sorry. I said candy, right, she thought, I said candid? Which is what is a candid peacan unless it's a peak and that's open and honest with you? Hey, if I if I, if I could be honest, David, you're eating too many peacans and you're gaining weight. That's a candy peacan, right, So I said, so anyway, eventually I remembered it was a Prelean and she looked it up and he's like, oh, they made by Kirkland. She yeah, we don't have them anymore. So I said what. Yeah, we discontinued them. So I said, well, can I go online? Nope? Not online? I said, are there any stores in the area. So she says, blah blah blah. Store has three in stock. So I said, oh, where's that seven five miles away. You're gonna drive an hour and a half. Tell your wife to get in the car. So I said, if I'm being candid with you, I asked for someplace local. She didn't appreciate my use of the word candon. I was being very pleasant, though, but a smart candid peakns, I gotta drive seventy four point six miles or something. You got a little salty with her, A little salt, a little alright, listen, we we uh, we have our guest on the phone right now. We want to we want to talk. Yeah, yeah, this is really special. This is an exciting time for us and the slices. Wouldn't you say? Yeah? Well, on the phone. We have somebody who has faith in this podcast the same way our listeners do. Yeah, and as As partnered with us, and so we wanted to thank him for that trust and partnership. And we have a leer on the phone from from Slice here. How are you. I'm doing well, Hey, guys, Thank you so much for having me. We've got a whole thing at at Slice. We've got a value that we say, no slice left behind, and we don't leave our slices behind either, because our slices are Slice slices for life, as they say. That's our fan army, you know. And if you've scary and I eat scary meat pizza, you know, we don't leave a slice behind there e never And that's that's why I'm here. We don't leave slices behind. And so I'm excited to talk to you guys and and and talk to the rest of the slicers. Now, you know we we are Brooklyn guys, right, But you're Staten Island dude. I am. I am through it through. We won't hold that against you. Nobody think I've got Elvis. I've got Elvis on my side hopefully, so we'll see you do. Yeah, yeah, you do by injection tell us tell us again what your official title is with Slice. Yeah, I'm the founder of Slice, I'm the CEO, m uh and what places. This is the world's largest UM network of pias, and we partner with family pizza restaurants nationwide UM to help them succeed in this digital world. And the idea is for these small family businesses to be in business for themselves, not by themselves, and ultimately make that customer experience as magical as it is to order Domino's pizza. That is fantastic. You know, growing up in Brooklyn and sampling pretty much every Slice that was out there at every local pizzeria. UM. I could tell you personally that this has been a long time coming. You know. I know that you guys have gained in popularity over the years, UM, but I want to just say thank you for helping out the local pizza parlor or pizzeria or whatever you want to call it, pizza restaurant, restaurante's. There's a million different adjectives for it, right, yep, yep, No, Look, I uh, I think it's really important what what our team is doing. I'm just one person on this, on this team, and um, you know, we believe in neighborhoods and communities that are you know, more authentic, more colorful. We love the variety of different pizzas. I I love the debates that we can have about which is the better pie, which who has the better slice. And in order for that to continue for generations to come, we've got to keep local thriving. And that's that's our mission. And you know, and we're super proud of that. But absolutely that's what I think. It's a very important element of what we do well this this time right now, as we're still basically in a in a pandemic where so many local businesses have suffered. Um, you know, economically, this is a great way to help out the local place. Um. The thing I like about your wrap, in which not only helps make it easier to order through the through slice to get your pizza, is that you don't charge the exorbitant fees that uh some other delivery services charged for. In fact, after I placed my order on Wednesday, my phone gave me alert an alert, Uh it said, David, you're awesome with your last order. You saved your pizzeria seven dollars and two cents by using spice instead of another. I love the way it keeps track. I was I would on a show pizza same thing, and I'm like, wow, this is awesome. Yeah, now it's uh, it's a really important element of our business model. Look, what what PLCE does is we partner with these family businesses in a way that is a true win win. Our whole mission is again too, to help them make more money but also save money. Um. And you know, the idea is that, you know, if if the vast majority of the order volume for these locations turns into e commerce, which is what Price powers, then the restaurant wins because it's easier for them to manage that that order. The customer wins because you get a much better experience and better pricing. Um. And so overall it's uh, Price is kind of in the middle of that and making that happen. But without a doubt, the goal is to put more money in the pockets of these small businesses. Could you talk a little bit about the Slice Accelerate program that you guys have out there. I am I'm really excited about that one. So with Slice Accelerate, I mean, think about it this way. If it was easier to launch a small business. I think so today there was about fifty thou local pizza shops in the in the country, which is a decent number. But if it was if it was easier to launch one, we would have another one hundred thousand locations, and great local pizza as as authentic and as great great as it is in Brooklyn would also be accessible in every part of the country. And and the problem today is that these entrepreneurs don't have the ability, or the capital or the know how kind of launched their own business. So what Slice does is partners with great operators and will either convert their existing business to a digital first, tech first enabled location and make their make their business more successful, or help those who want to launch a new company, a new pizza shop because they're very passionate about the craft. We want to help them launch their own business. And we already have I think close to thirty locations that we've said we've empowered with this program, and I think you'll see thousands of locations popping up over the next two to four years. That's fantastic, Brodie. If you're ready to open up a pizza shop, you know what A little known fact um. One of my first real jobs was working as an employee and then a manager for Chucky Cheeses. So I've made a lot of pizzas in my life. I can throw do up in the air, I can make conveyable pizza. I can cut an eight sliced pie in about a half a second, flip it, rub it down. Yeah, I'm ready to go. So I only do I eat the pizza. I've made thousands of pizzas in my life, so I'm ready to go. If you want a partner, Uh, listen, I know what good pizzas. I think people would trust me. Let's do it. Let's do it. So basically, it would be Brodie's Pizza Bite Flight, and we would help you with all the business elements and you just toss them. Okay, well you know what? But does that have that? Does that? Does the word Brody have a pizza ring to it? We always talk about pizzerias that don't have pizzeria's style names. Would you go into and buy a slice of pizza there? I don't know if Brodie's Pizza screams I mean no offense Brodie. No, I might have to change it to like Tony Brodie's something Brodie's that sounds like Jabron, like Brodie's, but with an eye at the end, not of why Jill figure it out. I'll put Brody with a red white with a green white and red flag in the logo. Pick you something out that that's the duty of local as you can call it whatever you want. Um, that's the special party. I have to ask you this. I've used a lot of uh chain restaurant apps, right to order fast food, to order from theme restaurants, and these are mega corporations with billions of dollars. And that as someone who's picky, who likes to tweak the way he orders the food. I don't like vegetables, I don't like parsley, and he doesn't need anything green. Earlier, I'm a painting neither neither do I neither friend. I can tell earlier that you are a man after my own heart, and that, um, those apps don't have the functionality that and I talked about this last week. Your app lets me customize things. First of all, easy to write descriptions of what I don't want, what I do want, and then the half moon uh pizza images you have where I can put what I want on the left side, on the right side, on the full pie. That's brilliant because if you call the average pizza place and you say I wanted half sausage and mushroom half pepperoni, they go well. And then you get it with a musher is on the pepperoni side and the means on on all of it. But you only wanted on the left. This is fantastic. And so I ordered a pain in the butt order and everything perfect, perfect, And that's the human error. And without human error, your app makes my life so much better. So thank you, without a doubt it. It makes your life better, and more importantly, it makes the pizzeria owner's life better because when those mistakes happen, they have to make it right. So now there's food waste. Twenty supercent of phone calls go on unanswered because they're super busy on a Friday night. For the combination of ordering through digital plus those orders being printed clearly with very clear instructions, and the ability for you to have like customize your pie exactly the way you want, it helps you, helps them. As we say, it's a win win, and you know it doesn't drive, It doesn't drive the phone answer a crazy because usually I get the sigh, I get the what is he right? You want the Marinara sauce on this, the vodka sauce on the chicken. No, I want the vodka sauce on the okay, and then get that there was no I just ordered. It's very true. It's also very it's easier on our pockets. You know, we like to save money and we like to save our slices money. So the fact that you guys have the slice rewards program is just amazing. I can see the countdown to a free pie. What could you explain how that works with the pizza points? I am. I'm really excited about that one. That is the first of its kind reward program. We're so used to getting rewarded for ordering from big chains, whether it's the pizza chains or Chippotle or McDonald's. They all have these awesome rewards programs, and they can make it work because they have so many locations. So you know, Domino's has six thousand locations in the US. Now, what we thought was, what if we built a very similar program that becomes incredibly incredibly rewarding for the customer, But then we have all sixteen thousand of our locations honor it and ultimately the customer gets free pizza for buying local. So you know, it's really important that the customer not only get a great experience, but the one an experience that is as I like to say, rewarding, like they shouldn't have to pay a premium for for ordering local. And this program incentivizes the customer to shops at any one of our partner restaurants, which again sixteen thousand today and I'm sure we'll we'll reach about twenty locations in the coming month. The pizza is in your in your network around the country. That is that's large, that is big, so that we will eat America, you know. So yeah, so you get a pizza points and you get a free pie. It's awesome now, you know. With our Brooklyn Boys listeners, if you I just go to if you go to Slice life dot com or download Slice. They're also on Instagram. At Slice, you get five dollars off your first order if you use code Brooklyn right. And I don't know if we explained it right last week. Um, it's not your first order ever, it's it's you get a one time five dollars off. So if you use keyword Brooklyn, you'll get five dollars off your next your next order. Is that fair to say? That is fair to say? Enjoy it? Yeah? Awesome. So it's pizza at a discount and you're helping your local place. So for us, there was a win win in case you're like, why these guys partner with Slice as if it's not obvious enough, Uh, you're you're one of our guys. Like you're from our neighborhood basically, and you know about doing the right thing taking care of people. That that's how we are. So, uh, if we can just ask you one more thing, because this this one hit home for me. Could you explain your pizza Versus pandemic program? Oh? Man, that one, that one, that one was was special. So, you know, the pandemic hit. My voice spouts cracking up when I think about the pandemic hit. And you know, we had so many locations where they were they were basically dead in the water. You had all of these frontline care workers that were working twenty four hour shifts and so one of the things we wanted to do was just figure out how can we create I love wind Wind situation in scenarios and and so how can we help the pizzerias and the front frontline care workers. So we went out and we um we asked for donations and we ultimately raised now over seven hundred thousand dollars and then we took that money and we placed orders for local businesses to deliver free pizza to frontline care workers nationwide, and so the pizzerias got much needed business. Um and then the frontline care workers. You have to see some of these edges. I think they're on our on our social network at twice on Instagram or Twitter, and you know, they got fed. And obviously pizza's a moment and and of food that is really special. It connects with people, it's always delicious. So the combination of of helping the small business with more revenue and then you know, sending that that pizza to the front line care workers for them to enjoy a meal in the middle of all that craziness was was really special. Between that the rewards program and saving over two fifty million dollars in fees for local pizza aias, how do you guys, how do you guys profit You're giving it all away? Yeah, it's it's all. It's all about scale and and uh there's believe it or not. In every business there are opportunities to be incredibly fair and for all sides to win. And that's that's what's special about our business. Scary they get a slice of the pie, so to speak. Oh, I see see how earlier before we let you go, you have to settle a lifelong debate as a as the man who created this slice right, pineapple on pizza? Yes or no? Um, pineapple does not belong on pizza, thank you. But I will say the special thing about pizzas you could you personally can put anything you want on it. Yeah, so I agree with you. There was there was a time earlier where I would have said, oh, you gotta be kidding me, right, But then I worked at Chuck E Cheese right, which I pointed out earlier, and we sold a pizza called the Hawaiian. And here's what I found. It had ham and pineapple. If you put the pineapple with this pineapple juice dripping right, If you put it right on the sauce and cheese part of the pizza, it's terrible. But if you put it on top of the ham, and you allow it to grill and cook on top of the ham where the juice does and go into the sauce and cheese. It's it's a it's a decent experience, so interesting. I'll pass on that. What about what about scrambled eggs and bacon on pizza in the morning? Is that is a breakfast pizza a pizza or is it a casserole when you're in Europe, it's a pizza when you're not when you're in the US. Exactly. Well, thank you so much for your time today earlier. It's really been awesome. And um, you know, we're just gonna be keep keeping on singing your praises every week. We're hoping that our Brooklyn Boys slices, you know, they eat pizza with us while we're doing the podcast. We want to make it kind of a weekly tradition. Amazing. Thank you so much for having me and I'm looking forward to meeting you both at the next at the next local shop. Absolutely absolutely, we'll definitely start a pizza with you slice on Instagram, Slice life dot com and uh and make sure you go get your five dollars off your your next order using keyword Brooklyn. Thanks leer. Thank you guys, pas O broody, you're gonna be proud of me. You're probably not. Go ahead, No you will. I pulled a Brody. I didn't. I followed through with free dessert for Scary Jones. Oh um, okay, maybe maybe there's some hope for you. Go ahead. So I was telling you earlier in the podcast. I went to Nashville over the weekend. Yes, and when I was, I showed up there was clearly on the reservation a check in time of four pm. Now, I'm a World of Hyhatt member, so you would think that the World of Hyatt people would get special access, right, you know, we get early early check in kind of thing, the World of Hyatt World High. And it's the rule. It's the rewards app for High. Okay, I have them both. I have the Marriott Bonvoy as well, but I booked it. It was on there was on the reservation. They said, oh, check in early if you want, I let that call them. I let them know I was coming, show up at two o'clock. Rooms not ready. I'm gonna go. I'm a World of Hyatt member, so you I mean, and I told you I was coming the world So they said rethink that name. We try. We try so hard, just so you know, we tried very very hard to make it happen. But it's been a busy transition and crazy busy week here. Yeah, so check in time is four pm and we're gonna have to stick to that for this time. And I'm like, okay, Like, where's the nearest rib joint? So I went to go to get some ribs with my friends. We hung out, we whatever. Now it's a quarter to five and walking back to the hotel, like, I didn't get a text message to say my room is ready, but my buddy Andrew did. He goes, I don't know, I said, I don't know, maybe they forgot to text me. I show up at the front desk. Sure enough, we're sorry, Mr Scary, your room is still not ready. I'm like, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, Hey, hold on, now you're cutting into me time. This isn't a world of highat bonus time. This is now Scary Jones pay full price. And he was expecting a four o'clock right now it's quoted to five. So he's like, I'm so so sorry. So I go and I said, well, you gotta do something about this, this is crazy. I can't I have him. I started making up Brody style. I have a meeting coming up in my room at five o'clock and I'm not gonna be ready. I'm gonna be late for my meeting. So I start throwing a little bit of it to mini tantrum, and I'm thinking of you the whole time, Brodie. I'm like, here we go. So I go sit on the bench. Now it's five quoted at five, and the guy is feverishly trying to work, and he's like clacking away the computer and I'm sitting there and I'm watching him, and then he goes in the back room. Consultant manager comes back out, looks at me, and then now it's close to five o'clock and I and I pointed my my watch, which, by the way, I wasn't wearing one. I just pointed my wrist and I said, um, listen, I'm gonna miss my meeting. What are we doing? What are you gonna do for me? Here? What can you do for me? I'm so sorry, I said, listen, I I'm a world of Hiett member. The least you could do is upgrade me. Okay. He goes upgrade. I'll tell you what. Um, we're gonna put you right now, sir, because your room is still not ready. I don't know what's going on, what they're doing up there. Maybe it's you know, he blames it on. He throws the word COVID out. You know, blah blah blah, COVID. You know, COVID. It's almost like the reflex excuse that, you know, the universal excuse for everything, COVID. So I said, ah, here it comes COVID, and he says, oh, yeah, we we just were. You know, they have to be inspected, they have an extra layer of protection COVID. I'm like, yeah, of course that. So he says, you know what, I'm gonna give you a double upgrade, gives me a corner junior suite. Right, but then I'm gonna way up the elevator. He goes, I'm gonna call your cell phone later and we're gonna make this right. This is just the beginning. I'm like, okay, my entire state goes by. They don't call me back. Guy says, nothing does nothing. Now, Brodie, you'd be fuming still, right, I mean, a double upgrade on a room you paid for is still not good enough. After you were inconvenied is and you told the guy you were gonna be ten minutes late for your zoom meeting in the room, which was a lie. So I get home and I decided to call the World of Hard. I said, I'm gonna go over there. I'm not even gonna deal with the look the way in in California, it's referred to as highatt World, High World exactly now. So so I called him up and I said to them, hey, um, maybe you guys could help me out here. Um, I was at one of your properties over the weekend, and here's what happened. And then the lady was beside herself. She said to me, she said, I am so sorry. You should have you checked in early. You gave them the heads up, they still couldn't help you out, and then only that when you were late, and then that's all they did for you was a double upgrade. She says. We don't like to brodie. I wish I had the audio of this woman. She was sweet as apple pie. She was I wish I wish I could help you. You know, we don't want anyone to go away unhappy. She was, I am going to credit you thirty thousand World of High at points, which is good for a night's stay at one of you know, a premium property. I'm gonna give you thirty thousand in your point in your account right now. Very nice, very nice, thirty thirty thousand points right, oh my grant. Thank you? Alright, awesome, I'm happy, goodbye. But then I said, what would Brody do? Fuck you, I'm gonna call the local hotel. I'm not letting him get a head with this ship nice. So I called the local hotel and I went back to the manager. I said, I need to speak to the general manager of this property. I went to my problem again, and I didn't even tell them about the nice lady who was sweet as apple pie with the World of High who gave me the thirty thousand points. I said, look, I said, this was I said. The last thing I heard when I was going up that elevator was the guy was gonna call my cell phone, and he never called my cell phone. And then the person was like beside themselves on the phone, I'm so sorry A double upgrade wasn't enough. We're gonna credit you back a hundred dollars from your room. I don't know. I think you taken advantage. Go fuck yourself. That's great, that's great. Yea. And from the world of Hiatt membership, I don't know what that membership. Listen. They had one job, right, and they messed it up. Oh. Speaking of mess it up, I'm gonna talk about politics for a second. But it's not political, okay. So I just wanted. There was a graphic on the news the other night. They you know, Pew Research Center, you know, they pull everything right. Oh, what's this guy doing, how's this woman doing her job? Whatever? Okay, So this was the graphic on my screen on the news. It said how many people think, and it said Biden Joe President Biden has made things better? And then it said made things better. Both halves of the survey they put on the screen were made things better. Oh god, one of them should have been as worse. I guess. Yeah, I mean unless this person was such unless oh you're funny. Yeah, I may have been, but that's not the point. I remember what I was on purpose? Yeah, um whatever. Yeah, speaking of of errors, have you ever seen the Coexist bumper sticker? Yes, where each letter is like a religion. So there's a new one that I was in. Um, I don't five below with the dollars store. I was in a couple of different shitty chain stores the past a week last week at some point, I mean, I mean shitty, like inexpensive. Let me refrash I dropped five below last week. Okay, all right? Anyway, they had an equality bump of sticker where each letter stood for something to to show equality. It was trans and gay and a Jewish starf the A was a Jewish stuff, and then a black hand shaking a white hand, and then a cross and then peace or whatever. And so I see it and I go, yeah, it's one of those where you go, it's very clever. But I don't put bump of stickers on my car. I don't, but it was very clever. I'm like, that's that's a good that's a good expression of equality and and uh acceptance and everything. And then uh, this guy and his I guess his girlfriend, let's just say it's his girlfriend there in the aisle also, and they get to the stack of bump of stickers and she says, oh, look, how look that's so cute. That is right, like it's all colorful and it's and he goes, yeah, yeah, I might get that, except except for that one letter. That's bullshit. That one letter, one of the letters, one of the letters in equality, that four. I don't want to specify which one it was, but he yeah, he goes, except for the blank letter. That's that's bullshit. I'm that's I'm not buying that. The bump of stickers trying to preach equality. And he's like, it's like one to three eight. He goes a seven out of eight, but that that eighth one forget about that ship. And she looked at him, she's like, she him to look like, you know, like you gotta be kidding. And then I'm thinking to myself, so you didn't know he thought that. You didn't know he was that ignorant about that letter, like that symbol, that thing that just yeah, I guess that all cute. He's like that, except for that one over there. Somebody's missed the point. You don't get to pick and choose with a quality. That's what a quality means. It means it's all good. It means it's the opposite of that. That's what he was. He obviously it went over his head. The eye is finny, Hey, you know what, those people over there and all those other people, they're fine. Those people they they can't have equality those people on my left. Can those people over there with with with the with the thing, with the thing. No, no equality for you. Yes, I just thought, like the I don't think the pumper stick is working, not gonna be on his car? No, not at all. Do you have a grammar police jinger for me? I have some listeners, some slice grammar Police, one that worked out, I think, and one that did not work out gram a bolice police police police grammar mistakes. Well, you be the judge, so Kelsey uh At K Pair twenty one, she commented on iron chef Cat Corra's post cat Cora, see what if you could figure out? What she found unusual in the post by cat Cora. It's been a decade since I competed competitively, and it was so good to be right right there. Right, So compete competitively? Right, so Kelsey wrote, how does one compete if not competitively? I think every time you compete, you're being competitive. Well that's what compete, compete is part of right. So then cat Cora wrote back, oh you caught me in a typo exclamation by That's not a typo, right is when you you you have like to instead of letters together, right, not a type. And I wasn't so sure if she meant like, oh you caught me in a typo, go fund yourself. I wasn't sell cat Corp meant it, yeah, you know but that But but you know so so so Kelsey wrote, I grammar police the celebrity today and she actually responded, she's so. I am so proud, so Kelsey, I believe in you. Now Here's when we run into problems. We have a slice. Sean D. P at Zion's firstborn. Now, Sean is a big Brewers fan. He's so much a Brewers fan. He's trying to tell me that one of their pictures is better than Jacob de Graham on the Mets. Not gonna buy it. No, no, he's the best in the business right now, right, I know, I don't know who're Yankee fan who wouldn't take the gram right now? Right? The Milwaukee Brewers tweeted out Colton's back. It's a player on the team name lest name is Coulton. His first name is Coulton. Don't tweet me, I don't, I don't care. But his name is Culton. Oh, I think it's Culton Wong Coulton, long name cartoon from the Nightties. I don't care, I don't know. Come on, slices, you got it, Trivia Bob's Burgers. Tell you what I don't say. I'm gonna make. I'm gonna make it. In a contest. The first person to d M me the answer, I will send you a free Brooklyn Boys T shirt out of my stash, out of my stash at Scary Jones at Scary Jones. Okay, but listen, just like that this Okay, but here's the thing, this post, this, this podcast is gonna up Wednesday night a right by like Thursday afternoon to twenty nine. It's too late, do you think so? Well? Yeah, people like a week from now, a month from now, don't keep sending him. I think what it is? I name? You gotta name the character and the cartoon, don't okay? Okay, So it was only was only one episode of this. Yeah, they only said it. Okay, go for it all right. So so at Brewers tweeted out Calton's back, so he must have been out for a few games, and they spelled at k O L T E n apostrophees the say anything scary, Calton's back. So then Sean tweeted me and the Brewers grammar police, so they wrote back, what's the police? So he said, so Sean Deep said, Calton is back. Calton apostrophe s would be referring to his back as possessive or am I completely wrong, David Brody, to which the Brewers wrote back, the apostrophe can be used in either a possessive or conjunction with a proper noun, meaning Coulton is back contracted to conjuncted of Calton's back. So Sean said, true, my bad on that one. Thanks for correcting me. And then Brewers wrote back, we all learn and grow, we all learn and grown together. So but here's the thing. The Brewers wrote grown. Oh, so they grammatically we're wrong in their in their correcting Sean, they were ultimately wrong. Can I take a slice, by the way, for getting my back, for having my back? Okay, well, yoel Brule, thank you yoel Brule. I hope I'm saying it right. Of course, episode we were talking, remember I was talking about quality paint. The fact that I have this called this boogie paint. Yeah, because I said that I have the Aura paint collection from Benjamin Moore, and it actually is better because costs more, and that the way that they manufacture it. He says, you are right scary on color not fading on the more expensive paint. It's because they do not put chalk in the paint. The chalk gets rubbed away from the walls with time and takes away the shade of the original color. If you read the ingredients, you will see what I'm talking about all right now as a guy, as a guy being in the construction field for nineteen years, now, I can tell you poor people pay more at the end, and rich people than rich people. And this is how and this is how it works. The rich guy will get the expensive version that will cost more but last for three years, while the poor guy, Brody, who get the cheaper version that will cost about ten to thirty percent cheaper but chances aren't will have to be replaced three times or more in a thirty years span. I'm not the biggest mathematician in the world, he wrote, meth maybe why you think right, I'm not the biggest mathematician here, but ends up costing about two point five times the price the rich guy paid and that. But he's assuming that if my paint goes bad, I'm gonna replace it or repainted. He calls me the rich guy, and you're the poor guy. Yeah, I'm not poor. I know. No one said anyway. I think more than Scary does. He don't know it. But that's why I have to hustle harder. You get a camera, you get a dorriable camera. That's right by the way. It would be great if Slow been sponsored this podcast. All the times you mentioned that, are we No, I'm just saying it would be nice. It would be nice. You know, whoa whoa? You know something that let's just move on. I don't know, Okay, you gotta tell me later that. I'm just saying that. Then I thought you knew something that I didn't know. No, I think I think you knew something that I didn't tell your buddies. I think you knew something that that I didn't know. You knew, but maybe you know it. I don't know. We'll see. We don't know it all right. Now, we're confusing me anual slices, ok I got, I got Okay, do you want I'm gonna save one for next week, but I'm gonna give you a scary an option before we get out of here. Would you like to hear about the dumbest parking job I've ever seen in my life? Or the crossing guard is trying to kill me. It's a toss up. Let's let's go for the dumbest parking job. Okay, you have anything else you want to hit before I I have about three of the things, but I'm gonna save them. I'm gonna table them for next week because we were already late. But go ahead. So I'm at a parking lot where, um, it's not a very busy parking lot during the day. It's a strip mall, but it's not it's not very crowded during the day because all the stores they have are not afternoon type stores. So I'm driving up the street alot, like along the front of the stores, right, you know, the main road along the stores, and I want to make a left down a particular aisle because there's a t g I Fridays that I have to go to to pick up my dinner, so I have to make a left. So I think it's a look at the picture to make sure because I'm gonna I'm gonna post the picture online and I want to get this right. I think it was a red it's a red Honda SUV, so it's a CRV. In front of me got a reddish orange and they made a left into the aisle. I'm gonna make a left into you follow me so far. I touched on this briefly on on the Big Show on the Elvis Straight In Morning Show, but I'm gonna give a little more detail. So as you turn into the aisle, the entire air right aisle is empty, no cars. So you know how the aisle is if nose to nose spaces, so it's like a zipper right. So the other side of the aisle on the right, which would be the other aisle, is also empty, So there are no cars in the entire aisle. On the right side. On the left side, the first six spots are taken except for the second one, so there's an opening on the left side in the second spot. But again, the entire right side is a is a waste land of spaces. Nobody wanted to right. It's almost like those spots have cooties. Nobody's parking there right. So the the Honda in front of me, makes a right into one of the empty spots, all of a sudden, hits the brakes and starts backing up right across the front of my car because I thought they was stopped in the spot, so I jam on the brakes. They start backing up, so I back up a little bit so that they don't cut me hit me in the right front fender, and they go from the empty spots on the right to backing in to the second spot on the left in the row of six cars. So and and it took them three or four adjustments. So I didn't wait around because I was gonna look give her a dirty look. I just went around her to the right because there's no cars there, so I just went around the front of her car. It took I looked back though it took her three or four attempts to get into the spot. Because now you know, I hate backing into spots. You know, I think it's stupid when you go shopping to put your trunk in the back. But here's my here's what I want to know from this idiot. If you want, if you if you let's say, when you left, you wanted to pull out forward right when you went to the right. Originally, you could have pulled forward into the empty spot in front of the spot you first pulled into. You gonna see what I'm saying, you do a pull through. There were no cars in the parking lot, so okay, if you if you didn't pull up. Let's say she stopped in the spot that she first pulled into on the right. Okay, she still wouldn't need to back out because there was no car anywhere around her. She could have pulled forward. She needed to back into spot number two on the left side side. The dumbest parking decision I have ever seen in my life. Can you think of anything stupider than struggling to park between two cars on the left when you've got montana of parking spaces on the right? Nothing? Nothing, So I have a picture of her parked and no cars. I'm gonna post it on my Instagram. It's the dumbest thing I've ever really is idiotic. But people get scared, they get weird. They're like, why is nobody parked on the right. I can't park on the right. I gotta park with the herd of cars on the left. Like maybe they're filming a movie or we don't park over here a filming a movie. Think maybe your car is gonna get stolen because it's out by itself on the right. It's like the pack of wolves attach to you know, attacking the uh, you know the deer when the deer, you know, right right, it's a park alone. Someone's gonna absolutely hit my car. Someone's gonna come. Yeah, I can't, I can't. I can't think. If you listen, if you slices, if you have a better reason, go ahead and tweet me and scary like if you're like, oh, you know what, I know exactly what she was thinking. And if it makes it's gonna makes sense. You know, like, what is she thinking? It could be funny, but what are you thinking when you back out of the spot, you're in to back into a spot that's hard to get into. Fuck you, Honda, exactly. I hope she goes to Mavis Tire. Excuse me, can you edit that? No funk them at this point? All right, I hope the tire place they fuck up exactly, all right. Listen by Dorman just called me, my lord, Della's family pizza is here downstairs. I'm going to get it. I ordered it off a Slice. Uh you should too.
