Speaker 1: Start up, dot up, start up, Brooklyn Boy start up, Brooklyn Boys, start uf dot uf dat up. They make it noise dot up. I won't get to give you some dot dot dot up. Alright, alright, alright, episode number four, it's the Brooklyn Boys podcast. He's bossing start up, start up, sign up. He's like giving us. I'm Scary Jones, I'm David Brodie on him a bit. I get you next week. You give me next week, get your next brookn Boys podcast in the house. So I want to give a shout out to the guy corner n y C. He tweeted at me, uh and you, and he said, every time I hear we Done Boys by DJ Quick, I immediately think of the Brooklyn Boys podcast DJ Quick. Is that DJ Quick or is that with Khalifa? He said, DJ Quick, I'm giving him a shout out anyway, Okay, we'll give me a shout out that God shout out, shout out, shout out. I'm getting a phone call from former intern Jackie, who's intern who's entering for a position here, right, you know you know what, Toms shouldn't take a fall in the middle of a podcast. Hold on, hey, Jackie, Yeah, I recommended her for that job. I'm in the middle of a podcast. Do you want to come up? Oh? Sure, just interrupt the podcast. All send someone. E'll send someone to come get If you're in your car or wherever you are listening to this right now, just hold off. Stop what you're doing. I'll have Cat come down again. Brod he's taking a phone call. Hey man, it's some poortant. These are interns, We respect them, all right, we're right down. Jeez, we're not even like forty seconds in and you're or you're taking phone calls and all right, it's just it happens. It happens. Brodie's waving his hand like I'm trying to get someone's attention. Yeah, who do you want to get here? Why? Because I need Cat to bring Jackie up. Wait a second, you need someone to get someone. I need someone to get someone. Okay, I want to push the button. Letter him. I don't have a button here. You have a button will open the door. There's a button. There's a button now, Oh, hi Cat, So then push the button unlocked the door. Hi Cat. You're on our podcast, by the way, So I hate to ask, but I know you're almost done. Former intern Jackie, who's in the building applying for a job, is stuck in the lobby and she needs to come up. Can you bring former intern Jackie up, long curly hair. Okay, by the way I feel, I think you may know her from last summer. Now this sucks. You know, Cat is everyone's bitch today. This is the second time this happened. I defended you earlier. Okay, you did, he did. He defended me, bald freak RANI was in the in the studio and he's He's like, oh, it's time for lunch. Cat here, I'm gonna order from this place. I'm like, I'm like, yeah, Ronnie, did you hear of seamless or like you know seamless? These order these food order delivery companies which will come to the lobby of the building. So all Cat would have to do is go down the elevator. But he wanted to make cat walk to the store and I get him. Okay, that is not okay. People who have heard this podcast before at and we have heard our morning show Elvist right in the morning show before, our interns are not here to go get food. That's what I'm saying. They're here to learn radio and to do radio. So what did I tell What did I tell him? He said, go, he said, order it. Make Ronnie, Ronnie, Ronnie go, get like, get someone to deliver the food. And Ronnie was like, no, I have, Cat, That's what he told me. That's what I do. That's what both have. We'll have a conversation with things. But he's great, he's great. He's a great, great guy. You know, you're not here to run errands, asked me, if I wanted anything, Well, that's nice. Well listen, you're not here to run errands for people. Thank you that said, Can you get the long But I feel like, yeah, this is terrible. It's not the second time. In fairness, the interns get paid. They do, so it's still a job. Number two. Cat knows that I've taught a lot about radio and I value her tremendously. This is her second semester with us. Exactly what's coming out of this? Nope, there's nothing. But but all that being said, if you could just bring Jackie up that you can't leave in them of a podcast. Took a phone call, right, I'm so sorry, thank you, thank you, thank you. Cat. I'm trying to defend the honor of the internship. It would be the first time, by the way, you've ever done that. No, that's not your come, that's a bunch of bullshit. The truth is, I've seen you. I've seen you send interns to get interns to do stuff. But here's the thing. I saw a cat earlier today and I thought, I just thought it was a little much for bald freak to not order. I said, how hard is it to press some buttons on your phone and make you make a selection on the phone? Let the delivery guy come to the lobby and then just send cat to the lobby to go get the bag. You don't have to send cat out. It's gonna be ninety degrees. It's probably like eighty four degrees right now, he does. Why do you have to order from the place and and make her walks for people who don't know seamless? What is the charge for using seamless? To three bucks? Exactly? Who gives a ship? I'm not saying. Listen, first of all, it's still to three dollars. But second of all, Ronnie was obviously trying to save two or three dollars. Well, it's terrible. It wasn't like he said, hey, hey, Cat, you know uh, also he's trying to save on tip. I just thought of that. Yeah, yeah, so it probably saved him like six seven dollars by sending Cat to walk five blocks in this heat to get his lunch. I wouldn't have I would have put her in a cab. You would put no, I would have wouldn't have done it. I would have had. Most I would have said to her was, hey, look, I'm going to order off of this one of these delivery sites. Can you just get in the lobby on the middle of delivery person comes, just go downstairs? Alright, what should we get? Should we get bald freaking here for a second? I think we should have an intervention. I think we should. I mean, we have we have the time. Now. I'm assuming everybody knows that bald freak Rannie is a cowork of ours, But if you don't, he's also a Brooklyn He is a Brooklyn boy. Yeah, hey, hey, Ronnie, can you come into the big studio for like two minutes? Yeah? First, for a second, can you get an intern to get you to come in hire for a second. Well, let'll talk about what happened with lunch. Well, you skipped out on pay and seamless and tipping the delivery guy, and you sent an intern to go five blocks to get you lunch. That's not what they're here for. What are they here? Do you here to learn radio and help with radio? Thank you? They are not here to get deliveries of food for you. In every occupation, deliveries of food are essential. Oh food absolutely, yeah. Food is yeah, to keep us going. But we live in the biggest city in America and there's plenty of options for getting food delivered in Manhattan. No, no, I just want you to say, wow, see what the hell that was? That was just awful. That was terrible. All right, you know, fled Jackie and the doors locked. I gotta get up again from up again? You're lazy bastard. Oh god, hi, Jackie site. This is like there's no chair there. This is the revolving the revolving intern chair. Yeah, yes, absolutely, you are not an intern. You look different. Your hairs lighter, My hair is lighter and shorter. Yeah, that's what your hair used to be really long. You were an intern at one point. I wasn't intern, so no longer. So well, what brings you by the studios? Today. So I had an interview for a job, for a job a real big girl. You're adulting too, but I have a big girl job, so now I have to I have to juggle some big, big girl jobs. So you're double adulting, double adulting. Okay, So one of your one of your jobs that I that I recommended you for, it's sort of a late in the day, late at night, overnight kind of job. Yes, and it's from home, which is great, fantastic, and it's writing writing for radio. And this other job which is not from home here, it's here in the building. It's out and about on the street talking to the people, right, talking to the people would allow you to do both things. Um, uh well, because it sounds like an awkward conversation. So it turns out that I might not be able to do both things. But uh so you're gonna have to quit one to get the other. Yeah, Now did you just find this out during your interview today? As did I. Now you're finding it right here on the podcast. So we're gonna get Brodie's true raw emotions right here. Because because the first job that she does, the one she already had, right, I I recommended her for that repeatedly, and the other young man over here and recommended me for the other You say, who who are talking? Yes? Right? Did I not? So you're stabbing me in the back. Yeah, pretty much. M hm. See, because because further help Jackie further her career. She was done with the internship here, she was in between jobs. You got her that one job, and I'm like, you know what, I think you'd be a great candidate for this other job that has come up. So you went on the interview today, and now that up for a second. How did you know that she should apply for another job? How did you know to recommend? She emailed me? She said, if you if you see something, say something. If you say something, it's like that. It's like when you see a specials. I did not get an email from you that you wanted another job. No, no, no, no, no, the one Scary retroactively. I only emailed him prior to me getting this other job that Brody recommended. Now, how long have you had the current job that I got? The current job was about five months old, right, you've been doing this for five months? Yes? Out of so five months ago you emailed Scary about getting another job. Another one contact another one kept in contact with me throughout the five months, emailed me recently saying, hey, I found this thing. You should look into it. I said, yeah, why not? And then I find out today that I can't actually look into both things. So you you were trying to double dip, which which makes sense because they were both part time jobs. So two part times still don't add up to a full time. Well see, that's the that's where it gets harry, because it could potentially add up to a full time and they can't afford to There's other things. There is a way to keep the other thing. We can discuss that, Okay, but here's my point. I don't need you helping my interns get job. That's what I'm here for. I'm their lifeline. I know when they can have two jobs, and I know she can't have two part time job. You know something. I was just trying to be a nice guy for a time for everything. Even know her name, which is like shocking to me, of course I do. Why would I not know her name but my name Jackie? So what's Romero? Nope, Marquez not even close. Nor she Hispanic. That's fine as a French less name. Yeah, but that's okay, but it's it's fine. But the point, that's how you know you're attractive because he's willing to help you. That's not true. I don't just help attractive people. That's terrible, Brody. You put me in the same boat as bold freak Rani over there, who's just making interns go get him food. That's disgusting and despicable. I denounced that ship. You announced my name. No, you know no, because internships here mean a lot different than they do with other jobs, and we we are they're held to a higher authority here on the show, and that's been made possible by Brody and the Internet esteem Sam. Listen, if this is a matter of how attractive I am, let it slide for the job wow, using the good looks and mostly what the point is, we're both trying to help you and then and there's no The point is I already helped her, right, but I was trying to further your career. Five months later, I heard there wasn't I heard there was something going on in the second floor and there was a bunch of jobs open. Is there a salary difference. There is a salary difference, So they'd scarier Brody potentially have the job. Well, if if a current job paid more, we wouldn't be having this conversation, right, not necessarily true? Um, go ahead, does the current situation? Is it more beneficial to the current situation? Is more beneficial? Wow? You got her hand outs and cheese is what you got it? And you're gonna you're gonna turn down the second job? I think. I mean, I'm definitely gonna think about it, because it's there are two different beasts. But yeah, we'll just know that Scary Jones was looking out for you. I know, and I appreciate that. More importantly, Jackie has a very specific niche in life, a goal, a dream that I remember from our first interview. So you're saying that the job that you got, and I'm not saying more closely related to the dreams. I'm not saying it is it sort of in line with something? Oh? I mean I have I do have this dream of being some sort of writing editorial something which Brody has helped me out with. And I've gotten a job that I can express those things in. But it's not an exact fit. But it's not an exact fit, and I would love to be more hands on with events and things. So there, which is what's the job that's scary Jones. However, sometimes in life you have a job that may not initially be a perfect fit. But I will tell you that the people you work for are very happy with the work you're doing. That's so exciting. Will take a step back to take two steps forward, And if that means trying to get a job, getting a job in the area and the direction you want to go in, then it might worth be you know, it might be worth taking a salary cut, a pay cut. That's what I was considering today. Okay, so you have a lot to sleep on, Yeah, for sure. I mean, so there is no black or white, right or wrong because probably like see, I got you scary, You're you're wrong and I'm right. No, no, no, no, there's no right or wrong. But there there is a job that's slightly better than the other. Okay, well there you go, alright, all right, Well thank you, yeah, all right, thank you, Jackie. You're so welcome that did you need me for anything else? You just come up and say hi. I just came up to say hi. Well, I mean I'd love to chat if you have a minute. Well, we're doing a podcast right now and you're on it. I don't know if you know that. Thank you all right, Jackie, Well, if you're around at all, right, cool? See what that is for the people. One of the good seeds right there. I know good talent when I see it. Jackie's great talent. Great Jackie doesn't know how to open doors. If you're out there hiring, she might want a third job, another one, another one. Wow, I gotta tell you. See, here's the thing. So, in my role as the internship coordinator for Elvistra in the morning show, we should have probably prefaced the entire conversations. Fine, so we've discussed this before. But if this is your first podcast, welcome to the Brooken Boys. And that's why we've been stressing interns a lot, because you know, every every podcast has had some kind of interns. We had Ricky on, we had josh on, and so Jackie intern with this last summer and one of the things she wants to do is to write. And I try to help people either get jobs in radio or in TV or video or whatever they their goal is. If they're a great intern, if the top of the top and Jackie was fantastic, and so a position opened up writing entertainment reports and news reports and things. And I thought she'd be greated, which she is, even though it's not her perfect Niche all right, well, and if you you helping her out as well, I try my best. All kidding aside, I look out, I look out for everybody here. I want to run that through me next time. I'm sorry, do I answer to you? I'm just kidding when you know that I am mad at you about something. Now before before you get to that, can I tell you what I want to open the show and tell you about what was going on. So there's a they're having the I Heart Radio Music Summit downstairs where they're debuting new music for the fall and beyond, and they're having all these artists come in and all these record labels and all these people from all over the country. Well, Brodie, they got a spread. They've got a lunch spread down They have a lunch spread down there. If there was food, Gore, So I figured I would be like, uh, you know, I would. I'm not part of that what's going on down there, But I figured let me just go. Maybe did you mingle in a try and mingle an eat. So I start mingling with some people. I saw some people I know. I'm like, hey, what's up, buddy. Yeah. I started talking to our friend Patty. I'm like, hey, did you wave to people that weren't there? Did you be like hey, Mike? I didn't do the fake wave because there were actually people there that I didn't know. So I kind of weaved into called the people that were invited, because you and I weren't invited. So I started in the in the hallway, and then I kind of started, like, you know, finally like moving my way in. When I finally got to the table where the food was, it hadn't been opened yet. Oh it was saran wrap over everything. So now I'm sitting there like, damn it. They hadn't taken a break, had not taken their break. So if I would have been the first guy there, it would have looked really awkward. And there's no way I was gonna blend into to get free lunch when I'm sitting there, you know, because what I'm gonna do gonna open up the suran wrap. So I'm sitting there and I'm trying, for the life of me to go from person to person to person and lobby having meaningless conversation and small talk in hopes they would take a break and someone would come by and rip the suran wrap off and people would start eating and then I could take a place and join them. But it never happened. I spent forty minutes of my time waiting there, waiting, and they didn't take a break. You have to get a copy of the schedule. There's a schedule, so two weeks ago. So today they're doing the Pop Music Summit, Pop and dance right two weeks ago. More my life style was the hard the rock Summit. It was all rock band. I mean I heard songs aren't coming off for six months. Really good new food fighters. But they had the same food spreading. There was a steak and red pepper and pesto dish. Oh so good. So there was all this, Yes, so how did you get food? Because it was well. I looked at the schedule. They hand out little cards like like playbills, and so I knew when to go. So twelve fifteen is a break. At twelve thirty, you're making your way in. I take it you just kind of sliding in with because now it's already little picked over. Now, no one's gonna notice that the top is missing. Right, Well, I was a little premature. I've heard that problem with you. Yeah, I have that issue. So yeah, So so anyway, Brodie, by the time we finished this podcasts and go back down there again, yeah, I think it's just gonna be left over. The place is going to be like, well, okay, So that leads me to my other my my problem with you from yesterday because not only did you screw me over, you screwed me over twice and then you put it on social media. How did it has to do it? Lunch? Okay, So yesterday I cleared my plate, no food intended. I didn't have any intern interviews today. Yesterday I wanted to go home early. I wanted to leave here by eleven o'clock. Then producer Sam says, hey at ten thirties, says, can we just talk for like twenty minutes? Like great, that, I'll get me to eleven o'clock. Boom, We'll get out of here. They go to meet with get with Sam eleven o'clock. She said, I gotta finish up some things now, She's just just take fifteen twenty minutes. I'm like, all right, I'll be out by noon. Fine, Now I know if you're listening to like, wow, noon is really late. We get here at five o'clock in the morning, so by noon it's a normal day. But I'm here normally two three o'clock, sometimes seven, eight o'clock. Tuesday, I want to go home early. Eleven thirty rolls around. We have a meeting. It lasts and hour and a half, almost an hour and a half because chatty Cathy had a lot to talk about. What a great meeting. Love producer Sam which had a lot to talk about, right, so I was in there with her. Nope, nope, this is this is I'm not up to that part. So we have our hour in twenty minute, almost hour and a half meeting. That brings us to like almost one o'clock. And I wanted to get out here at one o'clock. So you say, hey, Broy, I'm leaving. I said, oh, well, you know what, let me just shoot off this one email and I'll walk you to the garage where you and I both park our cars. We were walking out together, right, You're all right, I'm gonna talk to Sam for a second. So then I pack up everything and you're talking to Sam. I come in, you go, I'll be right out. Go outside. I wait ten minutes, you're not coming out. I text you hell about it. I'm leaving. At this point, it's like one twenty I've wasted now, because because by the time you were, you were doing emails and I'm like, you know what, I'm just gonna go into sam studio and talk to her in the meantime. But then Sam engaged me right, and then you know, you never never left and you didn't text me back. I'm gon be here a while. Well saw that I was going to be there a while, and I've gotten the hint that I said, I'm leaving. Yeah, I got ahead, busy. How hard would it just to be go, hey, I'm no problem going without me? So I waited another ten minutes. Fine, So I'm like, you know what, Scary probably was tired or he got to talk with with producer Sam, and he probably went home tired like I am. I get home like huh. Now, most of my afternoons wasted because I wanted to get home two hours earlier. Now it's like I'm exhausted. I didn't do anything, but I wanted to. I wanted to walk you. You as things you wanted to talk to me about. You wanted to talk to you about today's podcast Planet Out. He's right, we'll walk to the garage. It's like a six seven minute walk. We never got that. I go on social media. Oh and you and Sama posted pictures you went out to lunch, but I don't know you an explanation for that because I left work and I went, I drove to and we went to go have some food. Yeah, okay, so here's another one. Here's the problem. Here's the problem. Number one. She made me late, right, she kept me, She utilized me for what I said. I and a like an hour and twenty five minutes where I needed my help, my advice, needed my my input. But I gave up the time. I wanted to go home. Fine, okay, then I waited for you. You kept me waiting. We never got to plan today's podcast, which, by the way, it sounds like we didn't plan it. At this point, I apologize, No, actually no, I got list to do. I have stuff here, I have hold on we'll do what Elvis does all this paper to talk about. And I felt like, hey, you know, if you had said to me, Hey, you know what we could have? Why don't you Sam and I go to lunch about the podcast Shoot the Ship? So you just maybe Sam could have brought me lunch, considering that I spent our and a half helping me. I know you, I know you're like a book, like a free lunch. Yeah, no, no, no, no, you want. All you want is the idea that you're invited. Because had I said, hey Brodie, Sam and I are going to lunch, you want to come with us, you would have been thank you maybe next time. But I'm good, I'm going home. I'm tired because you were, so don't try and throw it in my face that I went to lunch for that. I'll tell you why it's a fail fail. I'll tell you why that makes it a double fail. Why number one, I would have gone to lunch yesterday, Yes, I would have. Number two if you knew or you thought that, all you had to do was ask me, and I wouldn't have gone. You didn't have the decency to ask me, knowing I would say no, you was a freebe You could have just gotten credit for the invite. You didn't even think to bogus invite me a bogus invite is what you want? A bogus invite if you would have if you in your mind, if you really believe that, if you thought Brodie's not gonna come to lunch, so that it's a free b you guys want to lunch, I go, No, I'm kind of tired. Then you get to go. Got credit for it, and I can post pictures. But you but I'm waiting. I'm not like that. But I'm not trying to I'm not trying to like get credit for something that you know. I'm just trying to myself. I'm just saying, you and Sam pick up my afternoon. So I'm sorry, We'll not very mad. Did you enjoy the crab cake sandwich we posted? It looked good. I'll love crab cakes, but not like ones that are all breading. But if they that looked like a lot of crab. It was a lot of crab in that sandwich. So anyway, so you missed, you missed lunch. That's okay. Next time I'm gonna invite you. Next time. I'm calling his bluff. People listening to this podcast right now, Brody is the worst. He's wait a minute, wait a minute, we talked about this on the fifth and the Other Star and fifteen minute morning show. You owe me a steak dinner since two thou do five year anniversary was this summer. I'm not saying five anniversary of the state of the steak dinner. You've never bought me. Now, what if it's a steak lunch? Can we do that? No, I'm not getting into it. This is a sign felt thing. I want a steak dinner. I don't want lunch portions. You know what I did. Steak cost the same at lunch or dinner. Okay, just a short recap for people who didn't hear it on the fifteen I stuck my neck out, you did. I took a career hit for the benefit of you and some other people. You guys got three, four or five thousand dollars because I write a lot of money. And you said, Brody, as one of the leaders of this show, you stuck your neck out dinner. You and Greg t the fat boy, right, you don't take out to steak dinner, right exactly? And I said, I'm gonna take you out to dinner. And that offer still stands to this day. But we don't hang out around dinner time. That's the problem. We're never together. You're with your family and I'm home, not for a steak dinner. So so so so why can't it be a steak lunch but cost But it costs the same as the dinner money. It's about the ambience, it's about spending time with you. Dude. It's the same steak house dinner. Want. No, it's not. Yeah, because dinner you can load up. It's a dinner you like. It's a little gonna have potatoes all rotten, you can have that. An it's too much portion heavy for the same prices at lun now it's better for your digestive tract. And I want a nice I'll go for a five o'clock early dinner. That's still late. What about we could do a one at twelve one o'clock. I don't rate din. I'll take you down. You're saying, I don't write dinner. You said steak dinner. I'll take you down. You can say I'm gonna buy you a meal involving steak. Dude, it doesn't matter with you. It comes down to price. It does. The price of lunch doesn't. If you're ordering the same freaking portions with the same price because because Delmonico is first, Delmonico is at night, thought the lie it up, and it's a city and beyond. I want the whole package. I did a lot. I know you did, but thousands of dollars I'll still spend the same amount of time in my career has still not recovered. I'm doing podcasts with you. I'll do it too. I'll do a two hour lunch with you the same as it would cost in time and money for dinner. Why don't I get it dinner? You just want you want mood lighting? Is that I waited five years. Now you're trying to cut me out of a dinner. I'm not trying to cut you out of ship. I'm telling you, why can't we do the dinner at lunchtime at David Underscore Brody at Scary Jones. I want your honest being petty on this. No, not petty is money. Petty's money. It's not money. No, but you're want you to I want you to put a nice shirt on. I want to get I'll put a nice shirt on. I want to go to like boys sitting down for a steak dinner. Dude, it's not like I'm trying to jip you by trying to take you to bro You take Robin out for dinner, you take her off for dinner, lunch. Right, Well, when you go out for a special evening, you go to lunch, nice romantic lunch. But it's the same, no difference, No, no, it's not okay. It's not like I'm trying to cheapen it out by taking you to brunch brunch. I'd be like, all right, I'm trying to rob the guy blind because I'm not asking. I'm not asking for Saturday night. I'm asking for Wednesday night. Brunch costs less money, so I'm like, I'm not I don't want to just pay for eggs and make it look like you know, it's if you steak is steak steak steak a new So you go to Ryan Robin, it's our seventh anniversary. Take you out for a nice lunch. You know what, they free dessert with it. You know, you don't take a girl for there's a difference between lunch and dinner. I'm not banging you, you damn not at lunch. You're not. That's it. That's a debate for today. We'll put you scrap, put up a pole. Um, what's the what's the question? Is taking someone to lunch the same as promising them at dinner? Yes, but but the stipulation and I waited five years? Why should I get you should be getting me to dinners at this point? Okay, there's no inflation on dinner and there's no there's no interest. Should Why am I paying interest on your dinner? Because part of what I part of the thank you was, you know what, in the moment, we really want to the fact that you've waited five years to take me to dinner, that you can't find time to go brolly tonight's tonight. Let's do this shows me that you took for granted what I did, and I know you didn't. You are you exhausted me at every turn? If I want me to exhaust, you'll tell you about my my, my chain, restaurant, dinner, my family. But I'll get to that. Here's what Here's what we have on the plate. Here's what I have for the table. Number one, I have punch lines that I wrote for the show that didn't get used. No no setups, just the punch lines. I've got a topic from an intern that I think it would be great for us to talk about. I think I think we have to hold on that because we have so many things to cover. That's fine. And and I don't know if you saw this yet, but web girl Kathleen on our show finished our logo. Did she really did? And it is done? And do you like it? I just saw it? Like it now, I'm gonna show it to you. Hold on. I think I like it. You saw it. I saw a very very close draft of what it was going to be. So I think we're done. I think we got it all right. I like it. Although I have to say don't scroll through your phone on the podcast. I will say one thing. I specifically asked for sausage pizza. Oh god, I did. Okay, bronis talking about the fact that we have this Brooklyn Boys logo and the Owen Boys is I asked for it to be a pizza, right, But you asked for a pizza. I asked for a sausage pizza. What's the big decay? The differences I like sausage and sausages is Italian sausages, our neighborhood sausages where we're from, siege. Can we talk? Can we talk about adding toppings at a later version of the logo. Can we just get this logo up? She put pepperoni on it. I'm okay with pepperoni. Pepperoni is a kid's topping. It's like what you get, like a chucky cheese playing a pepper I agree, But Pepperoni is the universal symbol for pizza. It's universal. It's it's pepperoni pizza. That's America. We've americanized it. We don't have to be Brooklyn about it. All Shanna do is make the red pepperoni gray. We would have sausage pizza. It um, it's a little detail. You're listening to this podcast right now. Do you see what I put up with on a daily basis? This is? This is I'm a creative mind. You're simple that you're like, Pepperoni's fine. I like to go extra mile. You're really being petty about I like to go the extra mile. Pepperoni pizza is fine for the logo. It doesn't have to be sausage. And plus people might see it and mistake it for drops of poop because sausage isn't very distinct. If you make it, you make an oblong or you cut it in an angle like you're supposed to. It looks like sausage. I don't you know what I think you're I think you're really looking way into this too much. When you see the logo, you're gonna like, Oh, it looks like it has acne. It looks like the pizza's chicken pox. I'm okay with it. People are gonna get it. Pepperoni that shuns like it's time. Welcome. You've got mail, Okay, people emailing us? Okay, can we address that for a minute the Brooklyn Boys podcast at gmail dot com. And by the way, we want all of your feedback, positive and negative about what you think of this, of how we're doing so far. Okay. I didn't know you're gonna play that sounder that you just played, the mail Time sounder. You and I've been working together for over nineteen years, Yes, nineteen years ago, when Blues Clues was a hit and people were using a O L. Yeah, you created that mail Time stage. But Elvis when he read listener email and he never used it, he's once and he looked at you and said never again, exactly. And you have waited nineteen years for a reason to play that blues clues, Yeah, yeah, blues clues and all yes, and then and this music bed is from Craftwork, an artist we were talking about on the radio the day on the Big Show. Yeah, what years? This from the songs like from the early eighties with the blues cluss from the two thousand's and the and the A O L is from the nineties. So I think we got three decades. So if he won, if you actually mailed us a letter, we're now going to read it, you know. So we got an email, UM from Miguel Pardo. Hey, brody and scary. Nice. He misspelled your name, by the way, he spelled it b R O d I E. He's a good guy. What's the name Miguel m I g u E L Miguel Miguel not m I g E L. Okay, he said, just wanted to say hi and tell you how much I enjoyed this podcast so far in the three episodes are very entertaining and engaging. Love him, UM, please keep it up and enjoy the following bilingual masterpiece. UM. By the way, this is an ongoing thing. If you have pictures of signs and stuff that's misspelled and you want to be the grammar police, and you know, maybe you've maybe you hung out at an Italian festival somewhere tons of misspellings. Please screenshot it and send it to okay. And by the way, that is not a slight against Italian people. Gary's making a reference to when we went to the San Guinnaro Feast in New York, in Manhattan, and and it wasn't Italian things that was spelled wrong. It was like, um, they spelled broccoli wrong, they spelled iced tea wrong. It's not iced tea right. It's iced with a D. I I C E D because that T has been iced. But people say I find grammar mistakes hilarious because I was a spelling bee champion and so are you, Brodie. So this except when I didn't say angry, I didn't do it played by the rules. There's that. That was on episode number one. That was episode two when I because I was supposed to stay angry A and g r y angry and I got cocky and I just said I didn't follow. Were already referencing old episodes of our own podcast. Now you know we've made it so anyway, By the way, next episode is our fifth anniversary episode. When we do a retrospect to the first four, go ahead with the email, so it's really quick. It's just a visual of h G. Great for a podcast. Offense offense, right, and then somebody wrote in sharpie, do not enter here, and then below it they wrote enter row somewhere else. So that's the Spanish. So honestly, that's terrible. Somebody, somebody just took it upon themselves to not do the proper Spanish translation. They wanted to warn people like Quidado, like careful, don't enter. Instead they wrote enter row somewhere else, so they just added oh, to enter and else. That's terrible. All right, well, thank you, well, thank you for that. If you want to just submit your your ridiculous signs and stuff and your grammar police stuff, please send that your our way, okay, our friends Seamus rites hey, hold on a second spell spell Seamus s E A m U s alright, hold hold on, hold on. If you're listening to this podcast, I assume most of you just went Seamus, why it's pronounce shamous? Oh no, In fact, Shamus is the guy. If it's the same Shamus who put up that beautiful thing on Facebook about our show and made an audio montage for us. Oh my god, Shamus, I've been pronouncing your name wrong. I'm so sorry, seamous, so seamless about I ordered from food from you the other day. Ricky's story about feeling uh about being fired inspired me to email you guys. Okay, former intern Ricky was let go and she came in on Monday for a meeting. That's right, she's there referencing our last episode. Um three years ago. I worked at this supermarket and I had a customer come in and try to buy some booze forgot to card her, and it turns out, to my luck, she was eighteen and it was a police sting. So Shamus was set up in a police sting. So I got taken out of my job one year in handcuffs. Shitty way to leave a job. Thank god I got the charge expunged, but I still wasn't able to get my job back because the company thought it was a liability on them. I thought i'd send you guys an email about the worst way to be fired and leaving a job. I love the podcast so far, Q have the good work. Yeah, that is a pretty crappy way that you got fired. Shamus Um. He was set up in a police sting. Sorry, that's pretty bad. That is pretty awful, but thank you for sharing. That's disgusting. I never heard about something like that, you know, I mean the the kids. He's pretty much a victim of society, right, what would you call that? By the way, Shamus Hughes on Twitter at Shamus Hughes four big fan of our show. Not pronounced Seamus Um, Heidi Stagger Rights. I'm loving the new podcast. Thank you, Skiy and Brodie. And then finally this one from Mike Gregory Brodie. I think you'll appreciate this. I think it's funny how you guys if you I think it's funny how you guys say if you're listening to this podcast. Let me tell you something. If I wasn't listening, I wouldn't hear it, right L O L. Love the new format and how you keep each other on your toes. That's from Mike, so he's trying to get you on wordplay. I don't think I've said if you're listening to this, but I usually say if they're listening to this podcast for the first time, He wrote, if you're listening to this podcast, so meaning like if he wasn't listening. No, I understand. Sometimes I say sometimes they say things like, if you're listening to this podcast and you're from New York, Like I say it, like, so obviously, if you're listening to the podcast, you're hearing, well, you're caring this. There's no reason to say the words if you're listening to this podcast, because you are. Because unless somebody got a clip of it and he's just playing you a clip, there are ways around it. All right, Well, thank you Mike, Thanks you, Mike. Feel free to keep correcting us. Yeah. Speaking of which, Uh, we're talking about bad ways to get fired. Have you ever been in a position to fire someone? Me? Yeah, because I fired a lot of people in my career, I've never been in the firing position. And uh, it's it's been pretty crappy. I we take it. I take it. That's not exactly an easy task. I haven't always enjoyed it. Um. One guy I was forced to fire, my boss forced me to fire him back when I was managing restaurants. He wouldn't take the garbage down the conveyor belt to the compactor. We were on the second floor. You a ride a conveyor belt down and he didn't want to do it. It was disgusting and gross, and I was like, you have to do it. And I kept going back into my manager's office and saying he doesn't want to do it. I was a supervisor. He says, we'll go back and tell him, and I kept going back and forth from him to the manager, him to the manager, and he says, go back, Tommy's fired. I was like, all right, okay, so I told him. He went into the manager's office to complain that it's unfair that I fired him. The manager did not say I told him to fire you. He said, Brody fired, David fired you, So it's I gotta back up David. And he came into He came into the kitchen and punched me in the face. That was the worst firing I've ever had. He punched you in the face. But meanwhile it was your boss is like, that's correct. So your boss threw you into the But I was eighteen and I didn't want to fire the kid, and he was like, go fire him, right, But when the kid went back to him to appeal that, he's like, nothing I can do, man, I gotta back up my supervisors, and I said, he told me to fire you. Was like, yeah, he told me the truth, that it was your idea. And then the worst firing I ever had of firing someone, I was same job. But I started to get better at it, all right. I started to enjoy a little more. I don't enjoy firing people. But this I was eighteen or nineteen, whatever I was, and we had a strict rule about this was a chucky cheese. By the way, When I used to manage a chucky cheese many years ago, we had a rule about employees smoking in the bathroom. You couldn't smoke in the bathroom. It's public right, you can't do that. And so there's this one girl. I had a feeling she was in there smoking in the bathroom. But I can't go in the girl's room. So I followed her. I saw go into the bathroom for yet again, to go in the bathroom again, and I waited until somebody came out and said his anbogons in there. It's like nope, just some girl in there, uh, sitting on the sink. So I kicked the door open, kicked it open, I walked in in one motion. She was sitting on the sink smoking a cigarette and I went, I looked at I went, you're fired, and I walked out. Wow, that was it. That was it. That was the quickest firing. Now again, looking back on it, I feel bad, but you know, she was eighteen also and smoking in the First of all, kids, don't smoke. Second of all, don't smoke in the bathroom when it's your job. It's against the rules. And don't sit up on the sink. Ye, it's pretty, and you chuck the cheese outfit anyway, but you never find anybody you ever get fired. No, in fact, you know, but I will tell you I did have some responsibilities over the weekend. I had a big responsibility, and that was to be the coach of a team. That's a coaching quotes. What do you mean you were the coach of a celebrity charity event, but you didn't really coach. You're not really a basketball person to coach basketball team. Well here's the okay, So, so who are the celebrities. There are a lot of names, right, big people. Well, I mean we had so it was it was to raise money for kids cancer research, research for kids cancer and uh, it's tackle kids cancer and the Garden of Dreams Foundation. It was at Madison Square Garden and the big coup for people to show up to play. The incentive I suppose, well it should be for research for kids cancer, but for some of these people that showed up, it was like, oh my God, and I get to play on the world's biggest basketball stage, which is arguably the basketball courts famous arenas what they called Madison Square Garden Basketball Court. Sure. So it was after a New York Liberty Game, which is a women's and b A and um, you know, people like Jada Kiss show up, Mayno, Jim Jones, Jewel Santana. These are some rappers from the two thousands. That is Mayno speak the way he sings like he's got like a like a really raspy voice. Yeah, yeah, a little bit and uh And then you know you had Drita from Mob Wives was there, Vinny from the Jersey Shore. I remember Vinny, of course, you know, and Albie and Chris Manzo from You Love the Man, and a guy named Marcus Coon's from the from the Giants, the guy who used to work you know, he used to be a big giant and wasn't I don't know if you mentioned his name, I missed it. But Carl Lenz was there, right, Carl Lentz, Yes, Car Lentz, the pastor from Hillsong, NYC. Who was at the world renowned. Yeah. See, they go to his masses and he's a spiritual guy and that was a lot of fun. So last minute, justin Bieber shows up and I talked about this is big a little bit on the Big Show. And you might have seen my Instagram. Here's the thing I didn't get past the picture of you at lunch. But okay, Bieber, I mean talk about a heart of gold. I mean, that was really cool of him to spend his Sunday. He showed up about an hour before the game. No one knew he was coming, and it was a last minute thing. Carl Lentz, the pastor, you know, came down with him and Bieber showed up. He got it. He suited up because Nike was there and they were given out like free sneakers and and and everything, shorts and whole book basketball uniform. Bieber full team player, hung around with us in the locker room, joking around like just now, He's like, now you're the coach though, so were you telling people like, hey, Bieber, you're gonna play point guard? Well, no, I didn't because here's the thing. I mean, as coach, I was named just my name was slapped on as coach, right, so it was hard to tell. Well, you know who the coaches end up being, right, who's that? It's the people that don't play. Yeah. Well, like when we did char fotball games, Elvis is the manager of the right. He goes out and shakes hand. That's where I was going with this. You know, I didn't and it was because I didn't want to play. I was like bashful to step on the court on the world's famous, most famous arena, States, right. So know, but Bieber showed up he the game started, you know, we you know, we roll ran out onto the court. It was a big crowd that stayed because everyone as soon as Bieber emerged from the locker room, everyone was like, oh my god, we're staying, and everybody moved closer. You know, did you legitimately run onto the court? I I jogged, okay, fair enough, just check it. But you know, and I did some you know, fact check. I did some warm ups, you know, did some warmups here and there. I did see the video. Hold, no, no, no no, I want you to explain it, because you were doing warm up video. You know that. What I'm talking about. The one video you always see is you shooting a basketball like you're practicing free throws. But the camera is conveniently not on the net, so the video makes it look like you may have hit a basket. I may have, but nobody knows if I did or not. Okay, but the thing was, did you hit a basket? I missed. I threw up a brick. But but Beeber was watching me, and it's in the in Instagram video you could clearly see it. He is so uninterested in my shot. He looks, he sees to go up and then he turns away, like it was like turning away during a watching a car accident before the two cars. He was standing next to you. Your your wrist went up as the ball left your hand, and he turns and walks away. Yeah, and it was like this kid sucks because it was like it was nowhere near the basket right now. Now, by the way, you mean justin Bieber's thinking you suck. Yes, he doesn't suck. No, no no, he was telling me that pretty much anyway. Then then as coach, how do I not put Justin Bieber, the star player in the game and leave him in the game. I mean, he he came to play, he was kind enough to volunteer his time, as did everybody. True, but he you know, he'll be Manzo devoted his time as well. But he's Justin Bieber. He's showing up to play about may no. Alright, they know gave up his time. But the point is, you know what, everyone had to have an equal rotation. But I wasn't taking Bieber out of the game. I let like, Bieber just went on the court. You let the You let the player coach the team. You you got Lebron I pretty much did. Bieber went on the court, he played the entire first half, and then he left. But the point is, had Bieber not been there, I don't think the crowd would have been as big. We wouldn't have retained the amount of people in the audience. So I'm like, let the guy play, you know. I mean, I don't think anybody had a problem with it, all right, I wouldn't have. I just if I was on the bench, I would have been like, hey, why is this guy play? Jadakiss I might have been like, hey, I can take it to the hall. I'd like to get on the court. Maybe Jadakiss wants to be on the world's most famous arena. There were there were time there was a point in the game where Bieber was like, you know, like you know, he was taking it down the court like Jordan's and then he hit the shots. He had hit a few, but like there were times he was taking it all by himself. He went, he cleared the ball and then he just ran it down court and then and then threw it up on this Did you get any B list celebrity shine from people who wanted more playing time? No, nobody. Nobody said a word because Bieber was there. And I want to thank Justin for coming out. If he's listening, but I don't think he's listening. But the third quarter, you know he's he's in the area, knows our show really well. The third quarter, Brooklyn boys, Justin, Justin, if you're listening to this podcast, please put on the podcast. Third quarter. I put myself in the game and then huh yeah, I put myself in for a few minutes. And I did that. I didn't want to play. It was bad because if you. Look at my was your shooting percentage? It was zero? What was your free throw percentage? I was over to I threw up too. But here's the foul. Okay, Marcus Coon's guy three times my size. Defensive guy for the Giants. This dude football terms right, defensive guy. Yeah whatever, dude. The point is I was going for a rebound. Okay, the rebound and the ball went off towards the side, right toward the towards the crowd. I was running after the ball. Gave up your body. I was committing, fully committed. I was about to take the ball and then push it behind my head as it was in front of me. But Marcus Coon's takes me from the back. He was behind me, running after me. He shoves me, pushes me forward into the freaking crowd. Look at my elbow, dude, I got a scar from from a scab. Actually, I would flying into the crowd into some woman and her and her daughter. I felt awful and I almost needed a medic right there, like I got thrown into the seats. I'm gonna quote my friend Scary Jones for a second. And by the way, the video is on Instagram on Scary Jones. You could take a look at this freaking video I saw. I was gonna say, people are gonna say if the rain video didn't happen, there's any different There's three different angles. And then he doesn't get called for a flagrant foul, the practical technical whatever it was. The guy pushed me into this. It's both. It's flagrant. I should have gone to the free throw line right there, but you know what, they didn't call it, and I thought, where's the call? Nothing? So anyway, but it was a wonderful afternoon. We raised a lot of money and it was it was. It was a good time. So I wanted to just tell you that story. And uh again, thanks for Justin Bieber for show up, and thank you Marcus Coon's for pushing me into the stands. That's all I got for you, Brodie, that's a hell of a story. Yeah. I don't have a story like that, you know, but but you what you do have? All right? Do we want to do? Uh unused punch lines? All right? Guess what we do? Okay, So we were talking about gay game show hosts. Yeah, I don't remember what it was about. The thing was Elvis talking about a gay game show, And I said, he could be Twink Martindale. Twink Martindale, but see, you'd have to know the original referencedstand why that's right. It's funny because it's Wink real host. This has something to do with um having an upset stomach eating Jewish culture food. And I said, oh, he took a craplock. Okay, once did you have to know? You have to know crep block because the type of dumpling, it's a Jewish delicacy, crep block. See the thing that? And I see why Elvis right off the bat rejected those two punch lines. Brody not to be analysts, No, no no, no, no, but not because I'm supposed to be just reading the punch lines. I'm supposed to explain this. Okay. Uh, that movie received two poop emoji's. Okay, was that from the Poopamoji movie? Maybe? All right? All right, How does Charlotte have room for an entire golf tournament? She must be flexible? Okay? He French Montana. Okay, but I think it'd be funny if you give me some of the set up. Hold on, I'll give you one or two if you had to me like I want that. I want that one. I want the French Montana one. Elvis was talking about how they were so drunk he made out with French Montana and I said, oh, he frenched Montana. That's hilarious, right, that's funnier that way. You gotta set up on these. You can't just do punch lines. All right. Cold Play caused the stage to shrink. What was the set up on that one? I can't do everyone. Well, we were talking about how the stage at MetLife looked like a penis and I and cold Play was there and I said, oh, it was shrinking because cold Play. All right, that's funny. You gotta do the set hold on, hold on, hold on, that's the topic. Hold on, hold on without a context, hold on, hold on, Let's see Radio one on one. I celebrated with an eggplant. Is that is that an emoji movie reference? Yes? See, I I knew what the setup was on that. My body is more like a dirt road. Uh some Sam Hunt reference. Yeah, we're talking about body like a back road. And I wrote the joke Elvis, my body is like a dirt road. Okay, By the way, that is filthy on several levels. All right, how about this beheading takes on a whole new meaning on that show. What show were talking all right, so we're talking about Game of Thrones porn? Okay, um, afterwards, you have a fapatizer, give me the give me the punchline on that we were talking about eating after you pleasure yourself. And if fapping as the sound that you know, right, is the is the sound that your your sack makes, slap it against you? Okay, I say you have a faptizer. That's that's just some of them. I like put twink Martindale. Yeah, so anyway, all right, cool. By the way, quick question for you, this this was a topic Elvis rejected. I'm gonna throw it at you. Have you picked out you're missing photo? What what is the or your or your murdered photo? Well, when someone is missing, right, like have you seen this person? They always used the worst picture, like it's blurry. It's an action shot of the side of your head that they took out of a video. So I've picked out the head shot that I want the police to use if I'm murdered or missing, right, And I don't think a lot of people give it that. I don't think people give it The thing is they don't. They'll go to your social media and they'll just grab your default or something recent. Right, So for instance, I'm not going to mention who it was, but a couple of months ago, a young girl was killed, terrible event, and then on Facebook, everyone was using her picture as their profile picture, like they stand in solidarity for you know, probably for that girl. But it was a terrible picture. That girl. It was like she'd be mortified if that was the picture. So it's not you're saying, it's doing a disservice to her, really, right, like if like she's probably looking down on all this, like what the fuck? Like everybody's way fluctuates, right, Let's say I'm missing, Let's say I'm kidnapped, I got hit over the head. I'm wanting you would I would like you to find a picture of what I look like now where I'm a little less in weight than like one of my fat pictures from people to be looking for fat guy, and I'm not fat. I see what you're saying. You know what I mean. So I want to make sure that I have an updated picture that my wife knows, that my mother knows, Like, hey, if anything happens here's the this is the picture that they should use for My problem with that is some people are you know, known for certain pictures, like a signature picture. Like for instance, remember remember like Tom from My Space over the shoulder with the white T shirt. Right, If that guy, you know, God forbid anything happens, that's gonna I'm sorry, but that's the picture they're gonna use, no matter how many recent photos they could find of him, because that's the quintessential picture of him. That's the signature shot. But you have a signature shot, well, I'm building one. I've had the same picture up for two years now across all my social media and it's it's a full length shot of me, skinny, scary with his arms. You like that skinny scary picture. But I'm doing that thing that they do. That the the way that they shoot TV news anchors and weather people when they're in doing TV news promos where they're facing the other way and all of a sudden they turned to look at the camera, so their head is their their body is to look thinner, and their body their body is facing away from the camera like like on a like facing sideways, but their head is tilted towards the camera, like, Hi, there's a redheaded woman. I think her name is Kelly O'Donnell's an MSNBC, and uh, whenever she does live reporting from outside the White House, she's the only reporter she's turned sideways. And I think it may be because she maybe a little a little larger than some other reporters and she does. Woman, I'm gonna have to look out for this. But when when they do you know, the thing that they do on cable news, they have like six boxes like Brady Bunch, and they have all these people, right, yeah, well when they do the turning around thing from from no when I have like six people in the boxes talking heads, right, Okay, So when it's just hard, you don't really notice it that she's turned slightly. But when it's six people and they're all dead on, straight ahead, she's and it's obvious she's turned to do the thing that you're talking about. She's turned that she's turned. She's doing this. She's doing a slimming trick. Okay, And I I see you, I see you, Kelly. You're a great newscaster, all right. Anyway, alright, cool, So anyway, anyway, that's all I got for now, we listen. We actually have topics. I had two other topics, but I think we gotta wait for the next I have a lot of topics. What's the next pot but he don't want to say. Um. Hopefully by the time you're hearing this podcast, which is now, when you're listening, the new logo is up. Well, so we're looking at it. I'm looking at it. It's orange, blue and white, the color of our baseball team, the yoke Mets. We like those colors. There's a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge because we're we're from Brooklyn, and there's a there's a Pepperoni pizza in the logo. There is, and I find nothing wrong with that, Brodie. I just feel like it's the hack pizza. It's like, oh, give me Pepperoni pizza, like when you're on a plane and like pepperoni pizza. You got to college, like cafeteriat school. You gotta Pepperoni pizza, but you gotta keep it simple, like sausage. Alright, Well, I'm saying, all right, Brodie, listen, at least Procoli put like a vegetable like mushrooms. Well, I know, at Brodie, you can't eat anything green. By the way, I don't like I don't like most vegetables, so pepperoni is at least better than vegetables. And listen, I didn't I really didn't rant this episode. So if you love the rants, I apologize. And if you're tied to the ranch, think we're okay. I think we were. It was okay to have an episode go by where we showed a different side of us. We don't have to have a rant every episode, so just a recap. I'll tell you one thing, though, I had the music ready for you, So baby, I should rant about how I didn't rant this episode. No, but here's what I'll say. We did debate one thing, and that is dinner versus lunch. And by the way, it's versus not verse. Well I had I got into something with somebody that's past weekend. Anyway, you're right, I agree with you. Yea, So dinner versus lunch dinner is more special. Just tweet us Yeah at David underscore Broty, it's scary Jones.
