Speaker 1: Start dot up, not up Brooklyn Boy, start up Brooklyn Boys data. They're making noise data dot up. Like we get it away from that part the instru mental part Episode three. It's the Brooklyn Boys and I'm Scary Jones, David Brody. God this week got me this week? Yeah all right, it's a Brooklyn Boys podcast. Thank you for listening. Yeah, this is great. We love all the feedback coming into. People have been tweeting us. We don't even have our Twitter and order yet, but people have been putting stuff up there on email. Did you see the emails? Now? I haven't seen emails yet, but I'll tell you what I do. Like that when they tweet us, they tweet both of us at David Underscore Brody, at Scary Jones and at Brooklyn Boys at the moment at Brooklyn Boys. WTF Right, But we're coming I think anytime this week. We spoke to our friends of Twitter. We're gonna be at the Brooklyn Yeah you want to say, okay, saying brook but not yet. But what's here's the thing. It's a podcast. We don't know when you're listening. That's why I don't want to give news by the time they listen to this. I would imagine Twitter would have changed it. Well, we hope, but you know I will direct you one the old page will go to the new page and whatever else. Yeah. Absolutely, So, Um, how are you doing, Brod? Are you doing well? Yeah? I've had my typical week of customer service problems. This is a bad week. Why Well, because last week I we talked about, um, the car dealership that wouldn't tell me what kind of oil my car takes or oil oil, and I had a couple leftover ones that I said i'd come to. This week, I had a couple more. I'm trying to figure out how many. God, I think I just make it. I think I think we should make it like just Brody's quarrel Corner, where you just quarrel about I don't quarrel. W what is it? It's a It's a Brody bitch fest, is what it is. It's it's more than a quarrel. Is like two people disagree. This is me being frustrated by horrifically bad customer service. You know what, I just thought of another one, but I actually got the I got this for you today. Another one there. Okay, So let me start off with a company that I had a problem with a log in, another one, another one. So I did not forget my password. I'm very computer literate, so let's get that out of the way. And I emailed a company and I said, listen, I'm having a problem with It was an app. It was it was an app login problem. I knew the log in, the log in. I know for a fact, as the log in was not working, the old forgot your password thing wasn't working. So I emailed them and I got an email back and the email said, please contact our company if you have a problem with your log in. That that's what I did. I went. I went to their website. I clicked contact us for the help section. I explained the problem in detail. I'm very thorough. I explained the model of the phone, the software version in I give all information and they right back and they say, yeah, um, if you have tried to this, this, and this, please contact our company. Helped desk. Well, that's how you got the email from the company. Helped desk. I emailed you, and you're emailing me to tell me to email you. I had a similar situation with with a hotel booking. If I may, yes, another one. No, no, I'm I'm the another one. You're not thenother one. You're just a guy who has one problem today, yous and and I'm the bitch. That's one. And a podcast ain't one because you got a three podcast. Here we go, I do any By the way, I hate I hate to interrupt you. I that's another one. That's a lie. I don't hate to interrupt you. You love interrupting me. There you live for interrupting me. Episode sixty seven of Walkers and Talkers my My walking Dead podcast plug No no, well yeah, kind of. Um again, it's not completely about the Walking Dead or fear the Walking Dead or Preacher. We my co host Jamie and I female Jamie. We banter a lot, and then we talk about the TV shows. I have to say, you know, all honesty, total candor. The first eight, nine, ten minutes of episode sixty seven of Walkers and Talkers is maybe the funniest we've done out of the sixty seven episodes. I'm very proud of it. That's great, you're proud of it. I think the good content for here. If I don't watch the don't watch, you don't have to dead. But the comedy was about her boom kept popping out of her dress. It isn't about the walking dead. Surely you can relate to that that I can boom boom. You got me, I got you. Okay with your your one measly problem, and I'll go to my other four. What would do w B D? What I called? I called a hotel. Now you know, sometimes there's there's rooms that are available at the hotel locally, but you don't see those rooms. When they showed them back, they hold them back. They said, all right, you need to book Friday. You need a too night minimum on weekends to stay at this hotel. Right, So I'm like, all right, I want to stay. I only wanted to stay Friday night, but I would have stayed Friday Saturday night. Does this hotel have a red roof? It might might not have any roof. It might be made of adobo, but it's not the red roof exactly. It used to be your hourly hotel back in the exactly Adobe remember back in the day. Yeah, no I did. I did go to the reof. That was like back when I lived with my parents. So anyway, I wanted to stay at this hotel Friday Saturday night or Friday night, like it's a two night minimum. So I'm like, maybe I'll do Friday Saturday night at the hotel. So I call the hotel. I noticed online that Friday night they had availability, but they didn't have availability Saturday night, and they didn't have a bill at Bilbildy Thursday night, so on weekends I might have landed. I might have gotten that Friday night by default. I just really wanted to Friday night. So I call the hotel and they sent me to this national number, the worst, the worst, and they say, I'm so sorry, but it's a two night minimum on weekends. I said, that's great, but Thursday night you're not available, and Saturday night you're not available. I just want Friday night. You have rooms on Friday night for one night. They're like, yeah, we don't understand. We don't know how to do that either. It's a computer override situation. They are willing to be dark or not sell the rooms on a Friday night, you understand what I'm saying. So they went, they rented out Wednesday Thursday, stay right, But I wanted to stay Friday night one night. They're like yeah, but they said you can't just have Friday night because it's a two night minimum weekends. I said, yeah, but you're not allowing me to stay on Saturday night because you're booked on Saturday night. So you might as well just take the money for the Friday night because it's one night available. You gotta go to the on door at that point and just go I gotta I need a room. Well, well that's the thing, I said. We'll like. Well, I'm sorry. You know you've called the national number. I said, no, I didn't. I call the local number, and you guys kicked me over to some national bookings. And my problem is when you call the local they'll go, yes, hold on, please, they don't. They don't tell you they transfer you. And then when they pick up, they don't tell you you're on the national hold on, we're gonna transfer you to the local people. So they bounced me up. I thought I was being phone tapped. They bring me to the local operator and they announced the hotel High So and So hotel. I'm like, are you sitting in the state of New Jersey right now? Yeah? So you're down the shore and this town? Yes? Great? Where how many direct your call? This is the this is the operator. I'm like, listen, so you guys have a situation going on. I want to let you know you're not capitalizing on on your On your website, you have rooms available on Friday night. You don't have rooms available on Thursday and Saturday. And I understand there's a two night minimum on the weekends, but I am there's only one night of the weekend available and that's Friday night, and their rooms available. I would like to book myself for the Friday night. I don't want Thursday or Saturday. You're not trying to get over on them. Trying to get over them. It's physically impossible because Saturday night is booked, done over, it's blacked out. It wasn't even an option on your website. Yeah, we said, can you please help me book the Friday night so I can fill your rooms and you guys could have revenue on a Friday night. Because obviously I'm not the only person. She's like, hold on, let me transfer you. Before you transfer me, I need to speak to somebody in in the at that hotel, at the front desk. Get me somebody who could book me. Who's sitting in front of a computer. They're like, no, problem there in the next room. Hold on, click click click, ringming ming ming, ming, ming ring. I get the national people again, and I'm like, I said, hi, listen, I'm having this problem. They keep kicking me. They're like, all right, hold on, let me put you back to the operator, like go back to the operator, And I said, operator, please, please, can you physically give me an inside line so I could talk to somebody locally so they could manually book me for Friday night. It's a one night stay and I'm trying to assist you in filling up your room. You these rooms are empty on Friday. They're going empty because people are trying to book on the website and the website is not allowing them because it's a two night minimum. But Saturday night and Thursday night were blocked off. By the way, this story is feeling like a two night story. But you understand what I'm saying. The frustration it was building, so I fucking called them back again and they were like, oh, hold on a second, and then they ring ring, ring, ring ring. They bring me back to the operator and then finally the operator says, I'm sorry they just left for the day. What they just left? Because it was after five o'clock, so it's a quarter after five. Had they given me the people to begin with, I would have been fine. It would have been great. They would have been But you know what, I'm like, fun this hotel. I'm not staying here. They're not even gonna get my business on the Friday night. They're idiots. They don't allow you to book. They don't like terrible system. It's awful system. Do you see what I'm saying. I think everyone clearly understands what you're saying. I was going to show out the money for the Friday night. I think I almost feel like we should give out the phone number that hotel and let everybody listen to this podcast. I don't want to do that. No, no, I know. I'm just I'm sorry. It just frustrates me to because it's just stupidly. If I really wanted to go there, I really had to stay at that hotel that I really needed the Friday night, yes, I would drive to the door of the hotel, would tell them my pregnant wife is in the car. I desperately need a room. You guys available on Friday. I know about your two Pula Joseph and Mary thing and say I need a room at the end. Done, Yeah, and I gotta have a hotel room right, Okay, But I wasn't willing to take that risk because I wanted to make sure my ship was booked in advance. Now you show up and you play dumb what tonight? No? But but but the thing is the computer say it's the freaking computer system's fault because they don't They don't allow for all possibilities, like if Saturday night is I got you, they should be able to do the one night frustrating and then they kicking me to the end up doing on the weekend. I drove, I drove to where I need my appearance on the Friday night it was a bar a and then I drove and I drove home. So you couldn't find another hotel. I was like, fuck it, I'm not even gonna stay down tonight. I'm so angry. So so you you spied, you spied yourself? Well, yeah, I had to. I had no choice. You think the hotel knows you you spied them? I don't think they know. I don't think they care. So you should have stayed a resort, and you know what, I have stayed in a hotel. You should have called him back and said, you know what this is, Elvis Duran. You made a big mistake. It was a hotel in Long Branch, New Jersey. Huh, I'll just give you. I'll leave it at that. Okay, Okay, So narrowed it down to the screw you and your two night minimum that you screwed yourself over that. I bet you had a bunch of the rooms on Friday night. You could have had them all bucked. So it f them. Okay, goodbye, another one another one's all right? So? Uh is this what this podcast is going to be about them? You know, I'm going back and forth. It's fine each other. Like, first of all you talked about you called the then they were they went home. Have you ever called a company at let's say they close it five, right, and you call up and they go, uh, if our normal regular business hours are nine to five, if you've called outside of the side of those hours, please call back tomorrow. Yes again, you know you've called. Our office is now closed. And I go, no, the funk, it's not. You have four more minutes, your bitch, get you know, I know it's eight more minutes. I'm saying, by the time I get the messages and I go through the voice tree, you've got four minutes left answer the phone. But you know what they do. They don't want to get on the phone, and then they stay past the five o'clock while they're on the phone with you. So they really ship their systems down, right. It's like restaurants that shut the grill off half hour before they close. They clean the grill. No, no, no, manage restaurants to twelve years yet, prick, listen, listen to me. If I'm if I'm behind a deli counter and I was working, and I have to clean the slicing machine and take it apart and scrub everything down and clean all the pots and pants, and I have to wrap up the salad bar. And I'm in charge of for easing and taking everything out. You can train. There are ways to pre close. You can wrap the slicer and suran wrap. You spread it with a little a little um little bleach and water and then you you put the suran wrap over it. In presections. I know you do is clean the blade eight o'clock. I don't want you to come into quarter to eight ask you for a roast beef turke. Well, then you don't, but then you don't care, then you don't close it eight. I gotta shut close at seven, but at seven, I'm good till eight o'clock with groceries. My cash gear shuts down at eight o clock. Now, you could come in at seven and buy a bar of soap or a candy bar or whatever, but don't ask me for a complicated sandwich. So your sign should say open until eight. Sort of sort of restrictions apply. Restrictions right right, void were prohibited. Yeah, It's like it's like if you go to dinner the rectional, I hope you go out of business. Then you prick. No, if you go out to dinner in the restaurant, right you you get there and they say they say the last seating is that is at nine thirty, which means and they'll get there if hey, guys, different stories. Hold on, we're open till eleven, but just so you know, it's ten o'clock right now and our kitchen is closing. Would you like that's a different story. It's terrible, terrible amount because because you ordered, you ordered at uh because the restaurant closes at ten. But if it was the kind of restaurant. We could walk in at ten to ten and get a roast peef sandwich. That's not a full service restaurant. That's it takes three minutes to slice of roast beef sandwich. Not after I've clean the slicer. I got roast beef. Do you know what you're getting paid by the hour? Do you You shouldn't be in a hard to get out of clean? Um? What do you call, as hard as it is to say it, Yes, a slicing machine. Yes, one of those giant um industrial size slicing Let me tell something I was. I was a manager at a place called Rolling Roaster and sheep said Babe Brooklyn, one of the most famous roast beef places in all of New York day midnight and I we had three slicers, one on a busy night, and we kept one open. As it slowed down, we suran wrapped it so that at exactly whatever time we closed two in the morning on Friday and Saturday, you just took the rag, turned the slicer on, let the wheel do the blade, do the work, and you clean the little bit of blade, took the suran wrap off. You were good to go. That's why that place successful. We didn't close. If a bar closes at two am, if a train leaves from Chicago, if a bar closes at two am, yeah, you're in the bar at one o'clock. One What happens at one thirty? Last call? Yeah, because you can't take drinks to go. Hold on, if I know, and I want to shoot down your analogy, let me finish. But at the music stops and the lights go on, so you're still there with your drink in hand. They didn't close the doors. You don't. You can still. It's a different thing. They're not kicking you out. The different thing. If you go into a grocery store or or a counter or a pizza place where you're just going in to get something, it's different than a drink that you sit and milk for an hour. Different. It's a bad analogy. I'm eating pizza. If I go to a pizza store and will close at midnight, hold, honestly I can, and then it's to go on. But if I I shut my ovens off at eleven thirty, problem for the last half hour, I sell what's in the window and that's it. You know, closed. Yeah, but I shut my ovens. I'm not making new pizza at eleven thirty. Yeah, but that's because pizza takes forty minutes to prepare in an oven. Again, poor analogy. I'm talking about buying a roast beef sandwich or going into a retail store and and you're going to the gap and they close it eight and at seven thirty saying you can't unfold any clothes for the last half hour. I'm not defending you to the last, but but I already folded that table. You can't unfold my table. I'll fold it back in the morning. Well, they're not leaving. I'm not leaving the slicing machine full of all gook overnight. You could leave it. You can leave leave them dirt, lascas and restaurants. The morning crew will kill you for doing that. I want to leave at the door at eight o'clock. I got three more problems here. Oh my god. The way, by the way, some people should not get crew cuts. And by the way, I love crew cuts on the military. I'm not saying it, but the military. We have an employee just walked in and his head does not go with a crew cut because his ears are too big. Look at him. Wow, we're looking at the studio window. Okay, yeah, I'm not even gonna say that guy's head is too big to have it crew cut. Okay, so we need balance. I I would agree with that because I tried to picture myself with the crew cut. Not a crew cut kind of our heads are too big. You can't have crew cuts. That guy right there, love him, he should not have a crew cut, all right. I wanna tell him to his face. No, Nope, I'm not gonna do it. He's taller than I am. Okay, so I gotta gift certificate. You gotta give certificate fifty off at Tommy john which is a men's clothing underwear, T shirts, stuff like that. By the way, not a sponsor. Not a sponsor, which is why I'm gonna bad mouth them. Oh really? Because well no, I'm gonna bad mouth the process and then ultimately I got I want so do you know what happened with I'm just so you know, let me give you a good experience. I actually why you why you cock blocking me. I'm telling about my good hotel experience before you tell me about you, because before you go off on them, I just want to go ahead before you go off on them, but you can go off on him in a second. Um. I wanted to just tell you that I took the fifty dollar gifts tificate and I and I went on the line and I bought a pair and it is the most comfortable pair of Now, I did go over by about twelve dollars. They get you because yeah, with shipping attack because everything on the Tommy John website starts at sixty dollars, like the fifty dollar gift card. But I thought fifty dollars, I'm gonna get my three shirts to me. It's like I'm buying a sixty dollar pair and I'm getting fourty dollars off. Okay, here's where they fuck you. So they give you a fifty dollar gift card right, and they say free shipping on orders of fifty dollars or more. So I'm like, great, I got a fifty all the gift card. I'll get a shirt, but i'll find when it's fifty dollars, don't have to pay extra like you did. I'll get free shipping. Boom done. I picked out a shirt, a freaking V neck T shirt, over priced bullshit. I got. I go, So I go fifty dollars fifty all. I enter the code fifty all a gift called I get to check out zero fantastic and it says you could pay for expedited shipping. Nope, I'm not gonna do that. I'm not in a party for my free shirt. I'm good. When I go to check out, it says like nine dollars for shipping. You know why, that's right? So I said, I'll buy it to So it's like, oh, I think it maybe with sixty dollars. I think sixty dollars. What it was? I bought a pair of socks to get me over the sixty, right, It was like twelve dollars socks. Twelve dollars socks. You can go to cost go and get ten pairs for twelve dollars. So I get a pair of sock. Kick out the pair of socks, right, and I'm like, who the hell pays like twelve dollars for pair of socks. So I get the socks and the shirt. Now I'm over the minimum. But it the duck's the fifty dollar coupon and now it thinks I'm only spending twelve and wants to charge me nine dollars for the Now, I'm paying twenty one dollars for the socks. So I'm like, effort, I'm not getting the socks, and I'm paying for shipping anyway, So they don't let you use the fifty of the value of the shirt they get you. They get you because I like, oh, you're not spending the fifty dollars, but I made an order of fifty. It's not my fault. I'm using a gift card to pay for it. Your pricks. Okay, hold on, Yes, a gift card expires um August. I want to say August tent. It's at August tenth, right, Okay, whatever the date was was coming up. And so I bought the shirt, got the shirt, and it doesn't fit exactly the way I would want it to. I gotta return it. Whatever what I would figure that out. I get another one of those gift cards, another one, thank you, another one. So I'm like, I know the scam now, right, So I go on, I go on the website, and I want to buy a Henley, now, a two button Henley. Maybe I got a better luck with this shirt than the one I ordered the first time. Okay, someone gave me their gift card. They didn't want it here at this at the station. So I go to buy the Henley two weeks before it's gonna expire, and they're sold out. So every day I check sold out, sold out, sold out, sold out. So it's two days left now before it expires. On the tent, which was Sunday, right, yeah, right, okay, right? Whatever the tent was was? Oh no, not the tenth, the third? It was the third? Was the Sunday, yeah right, okay, no, a second whatever the Sunday was, man, the first Sunday was the fifth? Whatever the whatever the day was, man whatever? Recording this podcast on the night, alright, Wednesday, another one. So I can't I want the shirt, but the coupon I can't get the right so I so I email them and I say I'm trying. So I try to buy the shirt. Doesn't work, right, So I said, I had an idea. I'll buy a gift card with the with the coupon off gift I'll buy a gift card. And a gift card doesn't expire. So I put in the numbers and it says your balance is zero. What call a gift card do you want? You can get green or gray, I think. So I'm like, oh, I get the green. What the hell? It's kind of nice color, like a hunter green. I'm not a hunter, but I like the color. So I go to check out and I'm like, if these pricks trying to charge me shipping on a gift card, I'll kill him. So it says it locks out. It won't it won't work. It won't work. It says invalid gift card, invalid gift card, which is not. So I send them an email and I said, this is bullshit. You're out of the shirt. I want. The coupon expires on Sunday. Who gives out a coupon and not a coupon a gift card? Right, we got it and we don't want you. We got it through the show and it's a fifty dollar gift card. But it expires in the month. What please? That's crap. So I emailed, I say, listen, this stupid thing that you gave me expires that some that another company gave me whatever, and I want the shirt. You're out of So that's bullshit. So they called me back and they said, we are going to convert you're temporary into a permanent gift cause it's in your account and now whenever you want to go. Now, he's the best part. If I use that, I don't have to pay for shipping because it's a regular gift card. Double win. Wow, you got them. I got him on this, all right, and got him on it. So why pointed that story is you should always at least ask for what you believe is right and don't just go because I could have been like, they're out of the shirt I want, I'll get something I don't really want, or I'll just go and expired. I got it for free. Anyway, what's the big deal. No, No, Now I got the gift card and I get free shipping because I'm using a regular gift card. I love it. Boo. Yeah alright. By the way, um, if you're listening to this podcast, um Bertie, I want to let you some know something. I just got confirmation of email confirmation, and that is that we will have our permanent logo probably well by the time this podcast gets released today. Let's be honest. I don't like the idea of calling it a permanent logo. I'll tell you why. You and I complain about everything we do. We are not going to be happy with this logo. You don't think they we're going to be agree on draft one of this logo. No, I trust web Grail Kathleen that she nailed it. All right. How long did your last podcast last? A year and a half? She was the kind of person, yeah, alright, you can say what it is. Okay, No, I don't think we should. Maybe she'll email. I don't think we should. Okay, I don't think you're being said. You're always a burst of energy, you're always laughter, and you've got a lot of awesome things to always say. So, So, Ricky was an intern for the Elvistrand Morning show. Ricky Ricky, Ricky, you see scary? What's thing that to me every morning? Sometimes the words just hypnotize me. So a couple so last week on episode two, we had intern current intern Josh on the show, and Scary does not know his name. Didn't know his name even though he goes and records commercials with him twice a week every week. By the way, since May, thanks for reminding me because I saw him again today, but you didn't know his name. Was like, I'm like, hey, buddy, we had him in the podcast like twenty minutes and I hammered home, his name is Josh, and we have And so again maybe people who listen to this podcast who don't listen to tell this dur in the morning show, we have a coworker named Josh. And I said, you know, he's the same name as one of our co workers, if that helps you, And he doesn't remember his name again, and so he told Josh, you have to stand out. You have to do something to stand out if you want me to remember who you are. By the way, Ricky is a shining example of someone who does stand and said, but you only knew her name because you sang, oh, Ricky, you're so fine, and you did Ricky, Ricky, Ricky can't you? So all she had to do is have a name that you that that you know Ricky, don't. I was just saying this earlier. I make myself very comfortable very quickly. That's what you did. You didn't get a piggyback right twice at edge here and yeah, so like I can meet you in three seconds in I already feel like we're best friends. I do that with everybody. And I think that's why role model intern right there. That is exactly exactly No but that And I did a video on this about a year and a half ago. It was like he filmed you while you were It was the Scary Jones guide to how to be an intern and how to stand out and how to convert that internship into a job. Because Brody has a great hiring staff. He a great way of in his brain of of picking the right people, making all the prospects. But once you're here, it's up to you. It's like the Hunger Games. How am I going to get a stick out from the crowd and parlevis from an internship to a job, and you are a shining example of shining star shining. He should not. This is not a nineteen seventies podcast. Now listen, I have to I'm not in a couple of things. Remember one this video that you filmed on how to be a good intern and get it in parlay that into a job. Yeah, exactly, so probably probably you don't know it either. Yeah, you're s Star. That's definitely not Casey in the Sunshine Band. Sorry, but you know what because you heard because Casey and the Sunshine, you're like Sunshine finding Star exactly. So what video was this that you filmed about how to be a successful intern? It was on elstin dot com for a long time. Was I in that video? No, it was just me talking to the count. Exactly why it should have been me in the video? Is the ten rules of how to turn that how to get noticed in your at your interns, at your summer internship? Do you remember? I don't remember the video, but there's probably more than ten ways. Honestly, I guess you just needed to into They're all above board, Legit, they're not. I'm not just I'm not messing around. It's not like that. You know, people are thinking, like, what that video anyway? Fizard noise that I've ever heard out of someone's mouth. Okay, so no jury would believe that explanation, but it's true though I gave real examples. Yes, you did but here's what I'll also um not log you with you about. It's not like hunger games. The interns aren't here to kill each other and only one survive. No, it is kind of like they step on each other's because they're like, Okay, every time every time we have one intern that steps another interns toes or your you perceive that that's the last person you want to hire because you don't want them around the group. They'll never let us at our level know it. They do it amongst themselves and they'll never ever know because there's always one that comes to me and says, hey, so and so is stepping on my neck. I don't know, Ricky, if I need to step on your neck? You know the truth? With what with what the uncle saying, I'll say that you don't necessarily step on each other's necks or anything like that. But there is like a healthy competition between the interns because everybody wants to be noticed more than the other one. You want to stand out right, Yeah, exactly, not necessarily going after that teeny Tuesday wasn't a real thing. We had no pants in Nicole here. We remember that. Actually, okay, she was a great intern and she's doing very well for herself in this industry. She doesn't wear pants. No, she's a very she's a go get her. She happens to be very attractive. But I'll tell you one thing about the the intern you're mentioning. She came in here. We had Lady Gaga in the studio about five years ago, and this was when Gaga was wearing meat dresses and leather masks and crazy that phase. And everybody, all of her people and all everybody, he was like, you don't, don't, don't, don't talk to her, you know, don't. She got let going on and told the interns just stay at your the phone up desk and you don't interact with her. And her people were very like protective of her. She wasn't like that at all, but they were very protective. And Nicole was wearing a ruffled little skirt, you know, very short, cute outfit kind of thing you'd see maybe it was at Century twenty. Well, a very trendy little skirt, right, it was very short, right, Okay, So we had a room in the back where our offices are where a Lady Gag got changed from one outfit to another. She had like a white outfit on, and then she put like a leather mask thing on for for the video that we we were doing. We'd film the interview. And as she's coming out of the studio to go back to the room where she changed, she makes like a half of a right turn, like a forty five degree angle over to Nicole and says, she says, you know, I used to answer phones. I know how hard it is. God bless you for working so hard. I know that it's an unrewarding job to answer phones. And you know, keep at it. You know you'll be a success. And and uh, you know, I don't ever think that just answering phones is beneath you. And I respect that. And and and then shes, oh my god, I love that skirt. Where did you get it? And they have a whole time, and her people like going crazy. Not they're on there there on the what's that girl talking about? What is she going to talk? They told not to talk and talk her and and Lady Gaga could see they were freaking out, and she turned around. She's like, I went over to horror. She's got a great skirt and like made it like hey, relax, like it's okay, like and it made it made Nicole's day because she was she you know, but it was her crazy. It was her short little skirt and whatever. But she had did have a tendency to dress. It was a summer internship, and she dressed a little less covered than some other interns. But it is hard in the summer a girl. Okay, okay, I'm just agreeing that it's difficult to find. But it's difficult telling you it was hard. She's was to find one to find longer skirts and longer shorts because they make them so damn small. I can't do anything about it. And I'm just agreeing with her, and it more perverted. So anyway, what brings you to us today? On the Brooklyn Boys Podcast. So, Ricky had a part time job, full time job, full time job, full time job at a company, and so part time she does work for us here, uh in one of our divisions. She works late nights, Yes, overnight, she's working while we're all sleeping, coming up with content for radio stations. And one wrinkle under your eye look at that. No crows feed, thank god. And Ricky does does a podcast on I Heart Radio. Something is doing nothing, Something is doing nothing, even though she's usually doing something like podcast years. Anyway, she had this, she had this full time job that she was paying the bills with while doing these side jobs in radio, you know, stay in the business and and move ahead and get right, okay. And she walked in Monday to this other job, this full time job that allowed her to do these free things. And what happened, Ricky, And they fired me, Well, like lead me off because I don't want to stay fired. I didn't do anything wrong. That's but not just you, that my entire team. They call that riffing, Like RIFF stands for reduction in force. So the entire team wasn't anything anyone did wrong and it was just a budget cut. It was like right now. Some companies they say, listen, we're terribly sorry, we have to let you go. But you know, if you want to finish out the day or the week whatever. This is a Monday, I would think you'd let somebody go on a Friday. You don't even get to fish out something. Some companies theory is let people enjoy their weekend and then on Monday. This way they can during the week look for a new job and whatever I feel like Fridays the day you should let people go. It's my different theory anyway, so they could you could say, I listen, thank you for everything. Um, you know your corporate discount where a company did you get a corporate discount? Um? Terribly sorry, but thank you. This is not a this was not a top secret government job, right, Okay. You weren't handling radioactive materials. There was nothing expensive that you could have stolen. No, okay, it wasn't like retail you could have grabbed the level. It wasn't like you were you're collecting intelligence and you were going to steal Ricky collecting intelligence. I don't need any more intelligence. I got enough. And it's not like you were stealing anything and and and then bring it over to another company and being like, oh, I'm gonna steal all the salespeople sal top secret information. Okay. So after they told you the hope you took a sto I should have actould have taken other things. After they told you this, were you with the other people on your team or individually you were called in, No, it was the entire team was brought into a room. Yeah, and they just told us all at the same describe the reactions of some of the people, and how many people on the team, five of us, five of you. What was your reaction? Um, so I had a feeling before you answer that, did you think about your own self or did you really look around to see eybody else reacted? No? So okay, So I had a feeling because I put two and two together. We never are called into meetings where it's mandatory in person meetings. Typically if we have to work from home or we're somewhere else, we can call in skype in whatever. So I thought that was strange. And then the week prior, we were asked to list things that we had done in that position for our boss. So when I put two and two together, I had an idea that maybe we're getting fired. So what's it happened? It wasn't so much did you list your job responsibilities or your major accomplishments both, because our job, the job that was created for us, was the first time, so we out branched into so many other aspects and did a lot of other things that weren't necessarily in our job description. So we needed both of that, and I just had a feeling when I put two and two together, we might be getting fired. They looked and they said, thirty two things. What are we paying for that? Yes? Exactly seven of those things are replaceable. I've seen this in movies before that. I saw that this never write your job description wasn't not so they can give you more money in office space right where they where they sit across the table and they say, well what do you do? Like right that kind of thing. So wow, well it's okay, So what ended up happening here? What how did I bring you here today? So they at least say they're terribly sorry that they apologize. They apologize, and I think my main boss, who we worked closely with, was actually really upset about it, because I know that he enjoyed us being around and we did a lot of things for them, so I think he was upset about it. But it comes down to you gotta cut money somewhere, and we just happened to be those people that they had to cut. Okay, So looking around the room, was anyone like, wrap, how am I going to pay? Yeah? There was one person who is like you could just see how angry that person was flat out in his face. It was just for everybody else. I think the rest of us all kind of just chucked it up to ship happens. What are you gonna do about it? You kind of just need to move on and find something else. And obviously is annoying and it's kind of devastating because you then do think how am I going to pay my bills? But when it comes down to it, we worked there for a while and we learned all that we could learn, and it's a springboard for something else. Now. The one guy who got visibly upset, was there a concern he was going to get way too upset? Uh? There might have been, because we all had to be like escorted out of that. That was my next question. So they stood you all up and said how did they say? Did they say, uh, hey, we'll walk you out. Yeah, you can just exit out of this window here. And did you say, can I at least go to my desk and get my thing? And they asked us to clean everything out. They tell us they stand over the equipment we have. They don't stand over you necessarily, but they're just clean out your desk and we'll walk you out and that's it. Huh. So it walked you right out. It was uncomfortable, Yeah, it's weird to be walked out like you almost feel like you did something wrong. You're a purple. Just have to make sure that you're not gonna you know, like you know, vandalized shit. Yeah, but it's weird you feel like you did something wrong when you didn't do anything wrong, and they kept telling you you didn't do anything wrong, which makes you think even more so. Getting fired from a job like that is like, hey, you were family, let's go bowling this weekend, and hey, how is your weekend, Bob? And the Bob's like, oh, better than yours? You know, but I was a little stressed. Why don't you stressed, Bob? Well, I was thinking about have I have to fire all of you? And all of a sudden, you're like not part of the family. You're not these friends of yours or not your friends anymore. They're out of your life. And like the walls, the chair, everything you're in, the bathroom, everything you're comfortable with, you have your favorite water fountain, you're out. I've also never been fired from a job. There was even more weird on what do they say to you? What what do you say? You say, Oh, this is not so you never this will see you later or something like that. What's the saying that everybody says? It's like a thing like it's almost like a temporary goodbye. Well this is a permanent goodbye. Like yeah, pretty much. It's very awkward. I'm also, just like I said, first time being fired, so that part's weird too. I've never been fired for We're recording this on a Wednesday. You've had a couple of days to think about it. Would you say you would rather have known? You went away this weekend? Right? You were a care of free spending money like you had a job. I had such a good weekend and I was so happy. I felt refreshed. I was ready to start my Okay, so you came back on Monday refreshed. You were snapchat in all weekend. I know you are. If if my theory held up and I and they fired you on Friday, it would have completely ruined your weekend? Or would the getaway have gotten your mind off it? Or would you have spent less money? Like what would have happened? Differently? I think that the getaway probably would have gotten my mind off of it, But then come Monday, I'd be even more depressed because I would have spent a lot of money knowing that I shouldn't have. Okay, okay, how how much more? How much do you less? Do you think you would have spent? I think I probably would have spent the same amount because I would have just been so carefree and in the moment, drunk and on a bender, exactly like I think I would feel like I would have had too. I got a question now, okay, okay, do you think that now that this has happened, now you can see what do they say? You see the light from the forest or through the trees, the forest of the trees. It's forest for the trees. See the forest for the trees? Right? Do you now see that maybe a bigger, bigger door is going to open up for you that this one closed? Because when my friend got fired from his Now that I understand where you're going, it's silver lining. Silver lining? Is there a silver lining in this cloud? Because a buddy of mine got fired from his radio job, and he thought that was the be all end all. That job ended and he got a bigger, badder job in radio, making triple the money, and he's like, damn, I would have never left there. I was happy. I was pushed out and pushed over, and and that a bigger door open. So do you now see that coming? Maybe? Yeah. So the funny thing though, is that when I took the job, I knew that that wasn't what I wanted to do forever. And I told myself, you have a year in this job and then you need to really start looking for the job that you actually want. So just exactly so, I wasn't doing that. And I almost feel like it is god'swear Universe's way of telling me, if you're not gonna do it, well I'm gonna make you do it. That's the Universe's way of kicking you in the I don't know if I want to believe in a god that fires people on Monday. But you know what, you just don't know because this is we're recording this Wednesday, August nine. You could come back here in six months on this podcast and your whole life could have been bettered by this this thing that happened, or she's all less know what that was such a negative outlawk I'm just saying this option. I'm just I'm I'm playing. I guess she stands. I don't think. I don't think there's a bigger purpose. I think you got fired. Now you have to make your bigger purpose. But I don't think you've got fired. In the universe is looking at if the universe's warrids, If the universe has time to worry about your job and pushing you along the way, then cure cancer and war like. The universe has more important things to do than Ricky's part time. You know, temporary job an easy fix and can't are in word is way more difficult. It's a big universe. It's an important I'm sorry. When you make it to do list, don't you check off the ones that you know are gonna be really easy first? Yeah, but I'm not God or the universe. Thank God, God God, thank God. Listen. I wish you the best of luck. I wish you I hope you're doing well. But more importantly, maybe her life has changed for the better. She's here now. Yeah, I have another rand. Hit it. You take, You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both in the day. You have the facts of life. Just remember that. Thanks, thanks Blair. All right, I got other rand. Okay, so another example, another one where I won another one. Here's here's what the way is that? What is this what this podcast is going to be about? Because there's kind of shaping it here in the early people tweeted me in embryo phase of our podcast, and we've been doing nothing but bitching want me than you, than than than you? Every week. You and I agreed we didn't know what we were Brooklyn boys, WTF because that stood for we don't know what the funk we're gonna talk about, right and by the way, it could go in a whole over the direction next week. Now, again, this podcast is not about Brooklyn. It's not. But we are Brooklyn and we complain and that's who I am and that's where my humor comes from. So if you don't want to listen to me complain, you know what you can do. You can either not listen to this podcast, which I would hate for that to happen, or you can find a more upbeat, non complaining cost And I'll be fine with that because you asked me to be here knowing no job, no boyfriend, no job. All right, Look, it is hunger games. I told you. It's us jumping in, stepping on my throat ahead, all right. So I had a gutter company Now, when you own a home, there's those gutters that go on the outside of your house. And if you don't have the ones that are don't email me and tweet me that I should get the ones that are sealed off and you never have to get them cleaned. I'm not spending five thousand dollars and don't tell me it's three. I'm not spending the money. So I have regular gutters that get filled up with leaves and gunk, and don't tell me to get at the ladder cause I'm not doing it. So I have a company that does it. I had a company, um, we'll call them the old company, and I hadn't used them for a while. I went back to using them, and I twice a year, and I think it was seventy five dollars to get my gutters cleaned. Okay, So the fall comes around, and like I do every time, I go on the website and the coupons ten dollars off for fall cleaning, I go, great, ten dollars off six This is great. So I call up and I book it, and I said, and I got the coupon off your website. I printed it. I'll give it to the guys when they're here. So then he says. So the guy says to me, uh, yeah, that page, that's an old website. We gotta take that down. We're not honoring those I said, but it's on your page. It's on old gutter company dot com slash coupons, like you have to honor those coupons fill the same company. It's the it's their coupons on their web page. Yeah, that we're gotta get rid of that page. That's less. That's less, just coupons. They don't have an expiration date on the cleaning. By the way, David Brody taught me to search for the expiration date because if there's no expiration date, it's it's forever. I have I have, by the way, I have bad Baskin Robbins, Uh, give gift cards that I scrutinized, all the fine print everything. There's no expiration date on them. So I'm just and and they're from like twelve years ago. I cannot wait to go into a basket, Robbins said. So, I said, I've been your customer for five years. You're gonna lose me over ten dollars on principle. So have you managed you called me. Have the woman who runs the thing called me otherwise, we're done. You're dead to me. So because she calls me back the next day and she says, I understand there's a problem with blah blah blah h. I said, yeah, you're not honoring your coop puns. Well that those are old, we explained, I said, yeah. When you explained that, I pointed out that their coupons on your website, Well, you know I can't out of those. I said, then don't honor them. Just charge me ten dollars less on my gutter cleaning, and you will keep me as a customer because it's costing you twenty bucks to clean my gutters and you make it fifty off my gutters. Anyway, So and what did they do? She said, I can't honor them. I said, you're dead to me. I'm getting a new escalated so quickly. Okay, So I go. I go through another couple of good companies I'm not happy with. I go on my on my town Facebook page and I say, recommend a good good a company And I said, now I've used A B C and D Gutta companies. Do we talk about this but people on Facebook attention. I said, I've used A B, C, D, E, F and G Gutta companies. I'm looking for a different one. I get, oh, have you tried B, Have you tried E? Have you tried C? He it's fantastic, And I said, I've used those. I'm not gonna okay. I go with L. L is, a gutter company I used ten years ago and they let me down. But I, you know what, all these people are recommending them give me a chance. So I call up. I speak to Chris. I said, Chris, give me your address, looks me up and he says, oh, I see you were a customer of ours ten years ago. I said, yeah. So what's the price on the gutters? He says, UM, ninety five dollars for your size house. I said, well, you know I'm currently paying seventy five. I was paying seventy five. But you know what, if you're good, I don't mind, you know whatever, I'll let you know if they're good. If they're good, I'll pillar extra money. He said, oh, we guarantee we'll clean up everything. We're okay. So he says, you know what, you haven't been a customer in ten years. We're gonna give you, the first time customer ten dollar off price eighty five dollars. And this way you'll see if you like our service. I said, you know what, eighty five dollars. Bring it on, let's go. He's all right, here's what you do. You give me the credit card when we come to your house in a week and a half, when we next available day, will immediately charge your credit card. No invoices, nothing to worry about. Done, charge your card. Done. Oh great, okay, fine, here's my credit card. Eight five dollars. Were good to go. They come a week later, they do the gutters and it's like gutter crap in the back of my house, a little bit, got a crap on the front, little bit. Now, I'm like, you know what, nothing's changed in ten years, you prick. But I'm like, I so I won't use them again. So I emailed them back and I said, um oh, I so I checked my bill and they charged me. No way about my story is this? Yeah, it has an end to it. You. But here's the difference in our stories. And you weren't here, Ricky, God bless you weren't here. I tell a long story, I give details, and you told this done. You told a long story, which was a short story that you kept repeating the same points over and over again. I was trying to drive it home with you drove it home like a nail through a They emailed me the invoice that night, and it says, so I wrote back from Mike. Mike's the the VP of accounting or whatever's titles. I said, hey, Mike, he's I hope you're happy with your service. Here's your invoice. Welcome back. And I said, to be honest with you, Mike, Um, there's some crap on my lawn in the front side and the back not perfect. But the guys were very nice. But I can live with that. But you you accidentally charged me the ten dollars more. I was promised by Chris, this the sales guy who wins to the phone to give me the first time customer thing. He writes me back, this is where Scary is gonna yell bullshit. Get ready with your bullshit, he writes back. And he says, oh you know what, Um, I can't go in the system and refund you ten dollars. It's already been processed by the credit card company. He said, So, Um, we'll just apply it. Well first, he says, and I didn't offer you that. I'm not aware of that. I'll have to look into what I said. This is the guy on the date and time I called. I had a record of it, and I spoke to Chris. You went back as well, but you know the first time customers the first time, and I wrote back again. I said, okay, he offered me because I haven't been here in ten years and you're trying to win me back, so I would like my ten dollars please, and and he said, well, there's nothing I can do. I can't refe so I said, you can drop off ten dollars at my house, or drop me off a check for ten dollars if you can't refund the credit card. But we've all worked in retail. You can absolutely do a charge back at ten dollars. He says, I can't do it. I'll credit you for the next next month's bill the next time we do the cleaning, which is another six months before I do a cleaning again. I want my ten dollars. It's not my fault. I didn't make a mistake. But hold on, we're not done yet. We're not done we're not even were not even I'm not even signaling to get off the parkway yet, I'm in the left lane. Hold on. So I say to him, you know what, Mike, um, if I don't get my ten dollars back now, there won't be a next time. So I would like my ten dollars back. And I know that it's ten. Do you know this all started with ten dollars? Better off dead yet on the bike? Okay? So so, so he writes me back two days Two days later, he writes me back, and he says, again, Mr Brodie, I'm not the one who had the conversation with I'm not aware of the ten dollars that I said. I don't care if you're aware of it or not. Go talk to Chris. He offered me the discount, which I wouldn't have even known about. He brought it up and welcome me back. So I said, we're done if I can't get my don So he writes, well they are now because so he writes me back and he says, we will extend to you at one time courtesy, and I'll be refunding your ten dollars back to your credit card. Thank you for your business now tell me why I'm still pissed. Why tell me why I'm tell me why I'm pissed, because even it's not even because that's part of it, because they owe you more because of the trouble they put you through. That's a little part of it. So you actually wanted a free bu Nope, you're missing the big picture here. I'll tell you what it is. Number One, he lied to me because he was able to give me back ten dollars. And by giving me back ten dollars, he shot himself in the foot because he lied to me. But customer service people do that all the Nope. Second of all, now he's a lawyer because he couldn't given me back the ten dollars the whole time. Second of all, you hold the second part of it is he wrote back, he's extending a one time courtesy to me, and in the future he will not do this for me. It's not a courtesy to give me back my ten dollars that you overcharged me. You're not doing me a favor. And now I have to and now I have to feel like I owe you something. I should thank you. You should be thanking me for forgiving you Brooklyn Boys podcast sponsored by Advil. Listen to me, I learned. The moral of the story for me is, don't ever get by the house. Don't ever get in bed with David Browdie. Don't do you must have been talking to my Wife's gonna drive me crazy. You're not gonna You're gonna lose. You know everybody listening to this podcast. You pay for something you want a good job done. But if you overpay for something you want the company and give your money, you are so impossible the deal. Let me ask you a questions. With the people, I would be like, fuck you, I'm here's what I giving you a full refund. Just never my company and Scary and Ricky, I'm gonna ask you a question. I'm gonna prove that I'm right. You both go to a restaurant, different restaurants. You're not going out together, you would never hang out with each other. But you both go to a restaurant with Scary. You order a steak, Ricky. You order you order a margharita. You get your bills. Ricky, they charged you for two margaritas, and Scary the charge you for two steaks. And you pointed out to the waiter and he says, next time you're in the restaurant, I'll take it. I'll give you a free steak and they get you know what, next time you're in this bar that you may never come back to, I'll give you a free drink. Bullshit. You'd want your money back right then, and there, wouldn't you? Right? But you give a coupon? No no, no, no, no no no. The guy offered me a courtesy ten dollars and said, you know what, we want to welcome you back, and we'll give it. It's like direct TV. Direct TV. Direct TV gives everybody, oh, twenty five dollars and free everything, but when you're when you're an old customer, they're like, no discounts. This is why I'll never live in a house. I love my apartment. I don't need. I don't have gutters, okay, the gutters. So that's my problem with the gutter company. So now I'm still looking for a gutter company, but I can't ask the Facebook group because they're gonna tell me this company exactly. All right, Well, I think you only have so many gutter companies that you can go to. Sounds like I think you just gotta pick best at this point, I'm looking for the guy who hangs outside direct outside home depot, who goes Yeah, I do gutters. Yeah, I'll clean your gutter. All right, Well, so let's do some birthdaysthday. What are you talking about? Boys birthday? No? No, whoa whoa time out? Turned off the hack music. That's the Beatles. I love them. But what do you mean Brooklyn Boys podcast birthdays? We have not discussed this. We don't discuss everything. You tell me you're gonna go after the gutter guy. I'm just I'm doing. I think you should have known me better than no, I was going after the gutter guys. Well, you should know me better. I used to do birthdays on the morning show, and then in the nineties and the two thousands, oh, the two thousands. I usually remember that because everybody, every one of my friends would call in to try and get their birthdays. Hold on, wait on, So, Ricky, tell me about when you used to listen to me on the radio in the two thousand's and we used to do birthdays and your friends used to call in for them. Did they listen to the show because listening for their name? Yeah, they love to hear their names called. What was great about hearing your name on the radio. Tell David Brodie, I guess it's just not feel like they're important. Not the same thing, not the same thing, not the same thing. No, hearing your name on a on a radio show when your friends could be listening, when um, your family could be listening. When you hear the DJs that that you that you grew up listening to, saying your name on the radio the radio is an important thing. It's like, oh my god, I was on the radio, like like my favorite bands on the way having it on the podcast. Hold on a second. It was percentage wise a minute and a half of a four hour morning show. And what happened eventually got rid of it. You know why, because we broadcast the ten million people and the eleven people whose birthdays you read are excited, and ten million minus eleven don't give a shit about Bob being thirty four. Why we should do it on a podcast with as far fewer listeners and then a higher percentage of the people are gonna hear their names. First of all, they're lying, we don't have that many listeners. And he said, they said, hold on, where did you get this list from? People? People emailed us, emailed us or the morning show. They emailed, they emailed me, they emailed you. As a member of the Elvis Ray Morning Show. I had some submissions who wanted their names read ware, who wanted their names read on anything scary Jones done? Okay? Do you know what? Do it at a bar when they hand your mikey. These are the people celebrateing birthdays and all. No, no, no, hey, you know who has birthdays? Everybody you know has a birthday in August. One twelfth of the entire population of the planet understood. It's like it's like when you go you meet somebody, they go, oh, your birthdays in January? So smine. What are the odds? Twelve to one? Your odds are twelve to one of the people, Oh my god, I have the same birthday, as as as as uh the guy from the from one direction. What are the odds three sixty five to one? It is defin big a deal, God, twelve to one. Hold on, hold on. These people listen to us, and they listen to no, no, not today. Not get more upset about the gun. I think he's no, I don't know, We're not doing it. These are they know it's their birthday. They have friends and family who can wish some happy birthdays. Gonna take dirty chew. No, go in their Facebook pages and click happy Birthday. Like, let me do these? No, I have a list. No, it's a quick list. No. If you hear your name right now, will you please tweet us at the Brooklyn Brooklyn Boys w t N No Happy said, if you have a birthday in August, happy birthday. You know and you know you celebrate a birthday. We're the twelfth of the planet. You Happy birthday. So I want to Katie, you know, so you know what. You don't do birthdays on the podcast because by the time they hear them, it's already over and done with. That's not true. People are listening on every word, all right. If you hear your birthday in the next day, what if that birthday was the first week of the month, it's already gon doesn't matter. Some of these are old from the August. They're a year older. Happy birthday, You're not dead. No, we don't care. I'm not doing your birthdays. No, okay, give me this moment. I want to talk about my problem on venmo. Oh my christ Stephen Brune, you had of control. You're not doing birthday. You're not doing birthday is a loyalist. We're not doing horoscopes, We're not doing birthdays. How manythdays? You're talking about ten twelve dames. We have twelve. We have twelve listeners, and I guarantee none of them want to hear the other birthdays. I guarantee people are Okay, okay, I'm gonna do Mathfield. Do you know how many people want to hear Mike's birthday? Only Mike? So Katie Watching doesn't want to hear Katie Watching doesn't want to hear that. It's Dennis No Food, doesn't give a damn about that birthday? Oh my god? What are the odds? Ethan Hughes nobody who shares my Chris? What are the odds? Chris Jangler, Stacy Foster? You're not reading birthdays to prove your point, Lilac, No, it's please please, You're probably you're not saying it wrong. Jerry Healey Jr. Day No, no, no, no, no, no Testman, Yeah, that Testsman shares a birthday with Ben Kameka. What are the odds? They have all the birthdays along with Amanda Stevens Lynn down Sierra gors daughter, climate change. I get it. Oh my god, oh I love Sierra Gor. But like Dan and Daniel Baron Marine Dan, I love Marine Day, Marine Dan, Happy birthday. You know what I'll have. I wish you happy birthday on Twitter. This isn't the place for it. I love, I love Sierra Gor great Twitter for these people want to hear their birthdays because they listen to No. No, they listened I was random wrning show. They want to hear their names on a nationally syndicated morning, not on a Pip Squeak third episode of Faith in your podcast. I listen. I would like to grow the fairy Guarantee you. Every last one of those people were listening to this podcast every Guarantee for some reason. They like even what's the third name on there? What's the third name on the list? Third name? It was Ethan Hughes. You sound like a nice guy. Happy birthday, Ethan. Tweet me at David hold On. Tweet me Ethan as David underscore Brody and tell me if you honestly care that it's Sierra Gore's birthday. You don't. But but but it's his birthday, and we mentioned his name you should tweet you know what you should do. I have a great idea from our Twitter account. Tweet them happy birthday. Then they don't get national recognition, nor did they get national recognition on the podcast. But here's the here' I don't know who's listening. Here's the fun part. People love. As Ricky said earlier, people love hearing their names on a on their birthday list. Also, it's it's it's nice. I also know that people don't like all going on a podcast. We're yelling and shouting and that's all you did put the past forty minutes. Hold on. I'm just so. I'm just saying, if we did this once in mind, I just thought of something. You know what if birthday lists are very important, You're a hundred percent right, and that would make total sense on the Scary and Cheryl podcast that's debuting in two weeks. What a great place. It's a relationship podcast. She probably knows people on birthdays, and that will be the home for your birthday list. All right, So when Sharon I come back, we can't wait. Whatever we call it, I don't know. We don't know what we're gonna birthday's, Birthday's Birthday's podcast. We are going to bring this birthday list over to that podcast. Awesome. And by the way, I know for a fact, because I'm pretty confident that the people who listen to me on this podcast will be listening to me on that podcast and the same way those old people and I will be listening to me on my old podcast, and I will be listening to you on your other podcasts. I love share and and from time to time just can't. But you invite me, I'll drop in and give relationship advice as I can't believe you're trying to shut me down on something that I know works really well. Here's all this does is get more listeners for you know, it works really well. Sports talk radio works really well. But if I start talking sports talk here, it doesn't fit. It's like, okay, I'll give you an example. Somebody texted in to the elvist End morning show. We're a top forty radio station, and they wanted to hear a song I think by Leonard skinnerd a sixties southern rock something like I think it was I think whatever it could have been Queen. It was a classic rock and I said, hey, man, it was a song by the Eagles. That's it was Eagles. Glenn Fry had died recently, remember the band. He said, Hey, I want to hear this song by the Eagles and I and I took the time to tweet him back, to text him back, and they said, hey, man, great song. When are you gonna play it? And I said, I'm gonna be honest with you, because it's honest. He's important in radio. And I said, I'll be honest with you, sir. It really doesn't fit our format. People have an expectation of top forty radio to hear current top forty, the biggest forties songs in the country right now on the Billboard Charts album sales right now. Okay, not seventy years of great music. That's not what this radio station does, not what this morning show does. I don't understand. It's a great song. It is a great song. There's lots of great songs. But I like, I like, I like when your analogy sucks because you're talking, I'm saying the Brooklyn Boys podcast. I don't believe the format is for a birthday list. But here's the thing, though, but this guy requesting a sixty Southern song on a top forty radio station is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. You were right in your response, but in this case, it's a fucking birthday and we're a goddamn podcast that we are. You admittedly at the beginning of this podcast that we don't know what we're gonna be. I know we're not gonna be We're not gonna be a birthday list podcast. We're not a birthday list podcast. You get me a clip of that. I want that on a drop and I'm gonna hit it at what scary birthdays? And you're gonna clip of you are five weeks to stop down and and not notice our listeners that are having a birthday for that month. I don't think it's asking too much, you know what. I think that you know what is driving late night television right now? Stephen Colbert reinvented late night television because they've gotten poppy and soft. And he went hardcore political, even though he when he first started his ratings were down. He's like, I'm not doing politics. I had a political show and comment he went hard you know what, His ratings went through the roof. And then now Jimmy Fallon does politics when he didn't do any politics. Every joke is a political joke. I watched I watched Um Carpool Karaoke Boy. He did nothing but political jokes last night. My point is politics jokes Saturday Night Live the best season they've had in a decade, the highest ratings, and why politics based on that, Let's do politics? Why not? It doesn't fit the podcast, but it doesn't. But people know politics. It's shooting ratings through the roof. Everyone has an opinion. Ricky. Ricky. Ricky is holding her face because she disagrees. No, she's afraid I'll start talking politics you've been really don't want you to. I'm waiting for and because we gotta get out of here. Ricky, I want you to say, honestly, what do you think about having like a twelve second birthday list before five weeks, before five weeks, fifteen seconds before you think of that, before you answer that. I want to re establish because being a scumbag, right head on being a scumbag, I think of being rational, that's irrational. I want to point out that I hired Ricky twice as and in turns have gotten her all of her jobs in radio, and he fighted her in today, and if anything, she's gonna suck up to you unless she's honest and really has a strong feeling in the other I think that ten seconds isn't gonna kill you, is what it comes down to. I get that you don't want it on here. Why don't you do it at the very very end? That's what people when they don't want to listen to it. It's the last ten seconds on the podcast. Tell you why that that sounds like it makes sense on paper? Write that down so we'll get it on paper. Good. You end a program on a high note. You want to end like you know that radio guy he tells a joke and he hits the commercial break and he goes commercial was a Seinfeld episode where they told a joke and then they walked out of the room and tell the joke. Right, I guess good night the rules of comedy, Right, you don't go that's awesome? All right, let's read birthdays. You want to The last thing you want from the last thing you want people to remember is the high note. So then lose it as a transition, and then I just think you're not gonna lose listeners over fifteen seconds. One they have a scrub feature. Now on these things, these new fangled things, I would like to scruw. I would like to scrub this from the podcast completely. What you gotta do is if you don't like the birthday, let's go sorry birthday, because everyone's gonna want to hear their birthday, so they're gonna I'm saying, so then it's really just you that doesn't want to hear the birthday says yes on Twitter? Is it really hurting? Anybody think it is? But I'm saying, spreading some positivity. Complain and this is the funny seconds of happiness. Hold on, I am thinking about the listener, because here's what ultimately happens. And Elvis Duran, one of the legends of radio, explained this to you and me one day because we're both executive producers on the Morning show. He explained why we were getting rid of birthdays where the two headed monster. The more people hear it, like Ricky said, they're gonna like it and send their names in, and the list got longer and longer and longer. And then when you go, I can't make it only twenty names, then one through fifty get upset that they listened and didn't hear their names. It's too late. It's it's it's spirals. It spirals because you're like, oh, it's ten seconds, then it's thirty. Then you were doing close to a minute long birthday lists and Elvis got upset and he said no more, and you cut it down, and then people were getting mad going I I sent my son's birthday and he listened. He only wanted this one sick and this one comin an hour and a half. I listened to seventeen years and all I asked was you gonna read my birthday? And you didn't. I hate you, you know what? So I think you're opening it up because I care about the listeners and ultimately care about you. I don't want people to hate the birthday. Everyone's gonna hate you except eleven people are gonna love you, gonna you know, suck a bag of dicks. We're gonna move the birthday list to the podcast. I do a chair because we're much more friendly, happy. But can we get We're gonna we get share on the phone now and ask her if she wants to get her on the phone. Get Share on the phone right now and ask if she wants a birthday list taken up hard time for sharing. Okay, good, I'm gonna do that right now. I'm calling her right now. You you are Ricky, no loyalty, Ricky being honest. No wonder you got fired. That's part of exactly see how he treats you. I hate himself. Can we get security escort this guy? And he's devisive. He's as divisive as as he is funny. I'm a nice Well that makes me very device. I'm a nice person. I'm really looking out for the whole process. God, we worked together almost twenty years. Scary. I know where this is going. I'm telling you right now. Here's what he does. He picks up girls in clubs. He used to do this, right He goes, Hey, I'll read your birthday on the radio if you want on the birthday guy. Honestly he did. That's a good pickup line if it works. She's not here, she's sleeping or something. She's in Los Angeles, so I don't think she's wait. I don't even know where the hell she is, but she knows why we're calling. She's not pick up. Shut up? You know what you are going to get such a backlash on social today, it's not even I welcome positive feedback. You are going to get so many fights with listeners today. This is no, don't fight with me. I I just feel it's a burden on everyone else. It's not a burden. How come when Elvis told you this, you said, you're right Elvis, you know more than I do. When you agreed with him because he pays my checks. Situation, different situation. All right, we'll it's not answering. Come on, we're gonna get her opinion on the next ro. Come on, it's rickey. Thank you for being here. Probably a job of a big fan. I used to be. Oh you still all? I don't lie? Hey, let me know what's your birthday. I'll announce it on the podcast. It was actually a few weeks ago. Oh happy belated song? Did I really you can't play that? I can't play that? Okay, I'll take it off. That's another thing. That's another another one. We can't. We're not allowed tell them what's going on with that, Brodie. We're not allowed. We're not allowed to play more than like ten seconds of a song. Yeah, because because if it's on demand, then you have to pay royalty rights and not a lot we're publishing, and they're really putting us into a bad spot right now, painting us into a corner. We can't play music. The good news is we got permission to play the parody from the guy we met down the hall who represents them, so it's all good. Exactly. He's not the lyrics, so they changed them. Everybody will see you next week, So boy Brok Brooklyn, Dah Boys Rock Brooklyn, Brookline, Dah Boys Brock Brooklyn,
