Speaker 1: Start up, dot Up, Start Up, Brooklyn Boy, start up, Brooklyn.
00:00:08
Speaker 2: Boy, start up up, dot Up. They making noise, dot up, start up up, Nada Up, Episode three seventy nine. You're making noise. That was David Brody making noise clear in his throat at the middle of the intro. You just keep lett me flop. You just keep doing that, it said, Brooklyn Boys making noise.
00:00:27
Speaker 3: So I made some noise. You made a lot of noise. It's scary here, Brodie over there. I'm staring out my window right now, David Brody. This is why, this is why I decided to move to the place I did and and create this second room, which is a studio and has a vibe because as I'm staring at you in a camera at my computer screen, beyond the computer screen, my eyes go right out my window and I am looking at the most beautiful New York City skyline. Every major building is done up in blue and orange. For the New York Knicks, the Empire State Buildings got all the blue and orange is dancing around the building.
00:01:11
Speaker 2: The blue one Vanderbilt is blue and orange. Blue and orange.
00:01:15
Speaker 3: There, yep, I'm seeing the edge famous building that was built recently.
00:01:19
Speaker 2: Oh from you mean from from you two? Yeah, the Edge they painted him blue and orange. Uh, that's and I guess the New York One building. There's there's some there's some other buildings that have emerged four times square. I think we're getting very We're getting very much well buildings.
00:01:36
Speaker 3: Okay to be New York. I'm gonna be very New York centric today because what.
00:01:41
Speaker 2: I'm saying is not to name the actual every building, a lot of the buildings of blue and orange. Letting you know that there are new buildings, new buildings to the mix, all blue and orange for the Knicks. Be happy for the Knicks, be excited. Oh, I'm very happy. The parade was today. It was fantastic. Have you ever been to a ticket tape parade because I've into one. Never.
00:02:03
Speaker 3: I mean, the last thing I needed to celebrate I could have celebrated was the Mets in eighty six and I was twelve years old.
00:02:09
Speaker 2: Was that the one you went to? No, No, I went to another one. I'll be damned if I'll be damned if I go to one for the Yankees. But oh well I did. I went to a Yankees parade. That's so unlike you. You know what, I'll tell you why. Because the Mets hadn't won. This was before eighty six. The Mets hadn't won in a long time. And my mom said, you want to get out of school today. Wouldn't it be fun if we go to the parade. It's a New York thing, it'll be fun. So I went for the fun of it. I wasn't old enough at that point. I didn't hate the Yankees the way I do now. I was sort of ambivalent to the Yankees, and the Mets weren't going anywhere. So I went to a parade. It was the Yankees parade, but it was great. All right, that's fun. That's cool. Now, speaking of colors, we have a major announcement. I mean we let it slip on the uh oh time time. All right, say here, tonight's the last night. We switched our colors of the podcast from Mets blue and orange to Nick's orange and blue. And after tonight the parade's over, we're switching back to Mets blue and orange. Yeah, yeah, just let you know so you'll see the subtle change in the podcast logo colors. But it was a big deal. We did it with to show where true Nick fans, we switched the colors.
00:03:24
Speaker 3: Of course, you know, major gaff at City Hall. I sent this to you earlier online. I can't believe they did.
00:03:31
Speaker 2: This, but they do your best to explain this to a nom okay, so one of them.
00:03:36
Speaker 3: So basically, they were hanging these banners at City Hall of all the current players. Obviously there are some players that played maybe just a handful of games games, but there's still part of the team.
00:03:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, they get a ring. So there's a guy last name Jones, a coincidence, of course, and they hanged the number thirty three and his name over it.
00:04:02
Speaker 3: Now, thirty three belongs to the retired arguably second most famous New York Nick of all time, Patrick Ewing.
00:04:14
Speaker 2: So that's a retired number. It's been retired for years, and somehow they put Jones and the number thirty three underneath it. People, the fandom is going nuts right now saying it is the ultimate disrespect. How could city Someone's got to get fired over this. I mean, think of your favorite team and everyone knows the person's number. How the fuck do you put that.
00:04:43
Speaker 3: Number on any other jo even if it was like a miscalculation, Now it was a mistake. The error was this guy Jones who played seven games for the Knicks. His college number was number thirty three, but when he was on the Knicks, he wore number one, and so somehow someone pulled number thirty three. But how did they get away with the printing process, the hanging process, the people that actually go in.
00:05:08
Speaker 2: And okay, socha college? It was when he was in the G League, which is the NBA's minor league whatever I'm calling you college. So if you if you looked up his if you looked him up, because he was a G League player for most of the year, you'd look him up and it would come up like if you googled it, well you aid it. It would say, oh he weiars number thirty three. If you're not a Knicks fan, then you messed up. I will say, just for the sake of sports. The New York City mayor Mom Donnie gave an amazing speech today and he's clearly a Knicks fan. I mean he's been a Knicks fan his whole life. But the speech writer and he really talked about the old school Knicks and all.
00:05:47
Speaker 3: I think he crushed it as well. I actually was impressed. I'm not a fan of him, but I was shocked. I was pleasantly surprised.
00:05:55
Speaker 2: Don't care if you're a fan of him or not. This was about the Knicks today. And my point is he didn't make the banner. So also, if you're not a billionaire, oh no, no, no, no, I'm not blaming him. I'm blaming this. So I'm saying he showed he he's a fan. He would have caught that, but somebody in the office sent it to a printing company that also wasn't a bunch of Knicks fans, because somebody would be like, thirty three, Come on, you know who messed up recently? And again it's sports. This isn't a sports podcast. But there's a player played for the Mets again, a legendary player named Gary Carter war number eight. They haven't retired the number, but a couple of players I don't know, twenty years ago they gave number eight and then they were like, no, no, stop giving out number eight, because even if we're out retiring it, no one should wear the number. Fine. About a month and a half ago, they brought up a rookie named Nick Morbido, and the clubhouse guy was like, oh uh, we're on the road. I don't have a lot of jerseys here went out of the stadium. Yeah you wear numb eight. And people went ballistic. How can you give a rookie number. It's one thing if they signed a big free agent, like a superstar, and the guys like, and I want to wear a number eight, And I'm like, yeah, you're a superstar, you get to a number eight. Yes, some rookie never played, you know, so even people who know mess up, right, Yeah, I guess now just to continue and close up our conversation and.
00:07:15
Speaker 3: Argument because people are like all up in my d ms because it's something I said on the Big Show, and then I carried on to this podcast and then we kind of tried to clear it up in slice time, and that was that I will contend that, and I'll still and I'll stand by this that Philly versus New York, the fandom in Philly is crazier and more.
00:07:38
Speaker 2: They're more lunatics than the New York fandom. And then and and and and we by by those standards are more civilized overall. Well, as soon as I said that a school morning was on in Philly, a school doesn't matter. A school box. I feel how I feel, and I'm gonna I'm not gonna sugarcoat it because we're on phil Pilly doesn't matter. I don't care. I say what I want to say. He still knows that they're a rough crowd.
00:08:04
Speaker 3: Philly and Philly's self admittedly, he knows that they've got very rough fans. They're famous for booing Santa Claus exactly. Anass came out during a game.
00:08:13
Speaker 2: They boot them, so I said, so look so so the next day, all the chaos and there was there was like four or five viral clips that went around. All right, that was a school, a school.
00:08:26
Speaker 3: Bus on fire, taxicab that got bashed to hell, and a couple of other things. Okay, now, number one, they they arrested the guy who destroyed the fucking taxicab. Guess what, David Brody, it's a Florida man. The guys from Florida. I even said it. Then, I said, these aren't These aren't true New York fans. They may not even be from here. These are just opportunists, assholes, causing trouble in our neighborhood. And I was right, now, Well, there were some local people that did some stupid shit. Now, I'm not gonna but if you want to go per capita, New York metro has eight million people living in it, Philly's metro.
00:09:14
Speaker 2: Is one point one point five seven exactly, Yeah, very close.
00:09:18
Speaker 3: So by those standards, we're pretty fucking well behaved when we have nearly seven times more people living in our metro that all you could find is the same four viral eclips of a school bus on fire and people beating the fuck out of a guy in his Spurs Jersey one.
00:09:38
Speaker 2: Bus, a cab and on one uh Spurs fan. That's for listen. It's eight million people live in New York City. But again, as I've said before, it's about fifteen million people in the Tristate area New York, New Jersey, Connecticut that all feed into the city. That being said, use that term again. One point six million people live in Philly, is that what you said? Right? Okay, Now that doesn't include the surrounding area. But in Philadelphia, the city one point six million estimated at today's parade, How many people do you think we're there? Four million? Well, two million, two million. The point is more people went to the parade today than live in Philly. So again nothing against Philly, but there's a lot of freaking people here. Yes, so there's always gonna one bad apple, don't spoil the whole bunch of girls. And as the song and why and.
00:10:26
Speaker 3: You're showing me the same three or four viral clips and pointing to that as.
00:10:31
Speaker 2: Oh, look at how bad New York City's wrong. You take that back, scary. No nobody got shot, No one was shooting guns in the end. No nobody was killed. But thank god, and you know there was there was. I did see a stampede where I did see I did see the crowd break through a police barrier of one of those metal batteries all from Ohio. Right, it might have been no, but but yeah again, were they charging the thirty three jersey signs? They was wrong? All this just goes to show that my opinion is valid. I love Philly. I do. I'm just letting you know you guys are a little more rough than us. That's fine. Oh, then that's just my opinion. And and I don't want to harp on the negative. One last thing that's not really sports related, but talk about a missed opportunity. Okay, yeah, sketchers very very much in the news right now because a player on the Knicks, Oh g Ananobi, is the first NBA player ever to win a championship while wearing Sketchers. When he did the tip in the Fame, the Big Tip in Play, he was wearing Sketchers. So everybody is like, he went on Seth Myers other night gave Seth Myers pair Sketchers. So Sketchers is custom making a sneaker for him right Well, the sneaker he wore, I'm going to tell you the model number because the Sketchers posted it. It's blue with orange writing and orange laces. It's it's Brooklyn Podcast colors. And it's called the SKX Nexus NYC Blue. Okay, so you know what you can order. It's scary nowhere. I can't nowhere because not only doesn't Sketchers make them, there's no at the moment plans to make them. And all Nick fans are clamoring for these sneakers because he wore them, but also because they're mixed colors. I mean, you got to capitalize. How how are you not mass producing these like crazy? Well, the Sketchers right now has said, at the moment, we don't have them.
00:12:35
Speaker 3: At press time, they're not, but I guarantee if down the road they're gonna do this.
00:12:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, but at what point for Christmas? When when do they get be ready? So I was gonna buy them because you know, blue and orange book the Boys podcast colors, I'm ready to buy them. So did they custom make them for him? Yeah? Yeah, they made him blue and orange for him. So they don't exist except they're awesome looking because they're might you know there are colors?
00:13:02
Speaker 3: Now, do they make that model number, that model that they make that sneakers.
00:13:06
Speaker 2: They make it in like creamsicle orange, they make it in white and blue, they make it like a yellow Invias. So then you can custom color your own I don't know, make paint, but you cannot spray paint them. So that's a big sketchers controversy. It's like, oh sketches, great, you have publicity. Now nobody most young kids don't wear sketchers at least like basketball fans. They were in Nike Adidas, right and then so like, okay, I want to wear sketchers. We're at all the comments are like you finally got me to want to wear sketchers. Where the hell are these sneakers? Yeah, that's an opportunity missed. That being said, that's my last that being said for the podcast, by the way, talking about things in high demand? Have you been to a Target lately on a Thursday night? Tonight's Thursdays. We're recording this. Have you been to a Target on a Thursday night? Walmart? Never? Never? Okay? If you go, even though the store is open, there are i would say, maybe twenty somethings and thirty somethings sitting in fold up chairs around the whole front of the store online waiting. Do you have any idea slices? If you know, you'll know. Do you know? Scary? Why every Thursday night and different nights for Walmart, but on Thursdays it's Target. Why these same twenty thirty something year old men are waiting online in folding chairs like they're waiting for concert tickets? Well, os, Obviously there's got to be a midnight drop on Friday. I'm gonna say, to get a copy of a vinyl of a new music. It's got to be music related, because new music drops on Fridays. Educated guest tells me there's an artist drop of something with a limited edition that only these stores. I don't know. I'm guessing I'm shooting in the dark. By the way, as we're talking, the Mets just beat the Phillies, and the Phillies fans are setting fire to the stadium. So it's every week, and I've been there on Fridays where these same types of gentlemen are coming into the store and the people at the door are like, we don't have any we don't have any, and they turn around they leave. Is like the latest La Booboo release. If I said charizard with that meaning thing to you, charis are that's Pokemon right. They're waiting for the release of the Pokemon cards because they're rare and they're valuable, and that's when they come out. And they're camped out every Thursday with a new because they know the trucks come in the cards. In fact, it's gotten so bad scary. I read an article today because I looked it up. I was why these people out here. People are putting Apple air tags on delivery trucks so they can track the trucks, so they know when the trucks are coming to the target stores.
00:15:46
Speaker 3: Okay, what year is this? We're still fighting over Pokemon cards?
00:15:52
Speaker 4: Yeah?
00:15:52
Speaker 2: Is that a thing. It's a thing. So this is a thing, like this is a thing ten years ago, twelve years ago, more than that. Teens slices? Number one? Are you one of these people waiting online for Pokemon cards? Number two? Are you someone who waits online at the store for something? What is it you've waited online for? Leave us talk about the iHeart radio app. Hit the litle microphone button. I want to know how how late you're staying up all night out in the heat and the cold whatever. They're all camped out. They have the coolers of ice and water bottles. Wow, imagine they're gonna smell in the morning. That's all at school. School, and some of the stores scary are taking phone numbers and then texting you when it's your turn to come in and buy the cards, so that you come in in order. They're signing you up on a clipboard. I wish they would have had that kind of I wish they would have had that kind of consideration in the eighties when when I was trying to get my YouTube tickets. All right, we'll be right back, enough of this the Boys podcast, We will.
00:16:48
Speaker 5: Be right back.
00:16:51
Speaker 3: I still can't believe that that people line up for anything anymore. And you can't buy these online like there's no Amazon thing or like Prime or something.
00:17:03
Speaker 2: They're being shipped to the stores. Listen, people get online now for like if Taylor Swift has a Target exclusive line with extra, people get online for it. People are getting online for scary Hold on a second, slices. You're probably yelling right now at your phone. You're punching the ground, Brody, How are you not calling him out on this scary? Did you? Did you not want to wait online for your your your your your famous Swatch watch? Yeah?
00:17:35
Speaker 3: No, the AP, the AP Swatch collab. Yeah, yeah, Well I didn't want to wait online. No, no, I didn't want to wait on line. I just wanted somebody to, you know, get online for the ship. One't to me and I was going to buy it, but you know, Goty's boyfriend Brandon was going to get me one, had he gotten one, but no such luck.
00:17:56
Speaker 2: Did you get online for crow nuts back in the day or yeah? It was like I mean, not online for food? Oh yeah for food With the donut it was a cross between a donut and a croissant. It was the cronut and dominique ansel. The bakery and soho, this guy made these and it was one little bakery, that pastry shop that did it, and people would go online place that started making cruffins, trying to like capitalize a cruffin muffins. Yeah, cruffin buffins, the bagel muffins whatever. Yeah, no, I mean the cronut was the original. That's the og that's the og ananobi. Anyway. Uh So I was at an event the other night and we had our Zer one hundred street team with us.
00:18:43
Speaker 3: And we just got to talking about, you know, past jobs and stuff and this, uh one of the women on the street team tells me, oh yeah, I used to work for Friendlies And I'm like, oh cool. I mean that must have been a fun, happy place. She was, yeah, friendly, not so friendly. She actually got to get the Scamboni jingle for this one, she she says. And this happens a lot.
00:19:09
Speaker 2: So even though this happened several years ago, there are probably examples in current day society that this has gone on. Oh yeah, so a few years ago, Friendlies did a collab with mister Beast, and apparently you can go into Friendlies and for a limited time get a mister Beast burger and it was a mecha mister Beast meal. All she told me.
00:19:52
Speaker 3: That the only difference between the Mister Beast burger, which they got seven eight dollars more for, and a regular Friendlies burger.
00:20:07
Speaker 2: Was the shape.
00:20:09
Speaker 3: She said, Friendlies would literally take the same fucking slab of meat, put it on the grill. And because mister Beast was this, you know, the beginning of the smash burg burger craze. All you did was take one of those grid those iron fucking things and smash the shit out of the burger and fucking make it well done, and then take it, put it on a fucking bun, put it in a box, and take a sticker that said mister Beast on it, put a mister Beast's logo and put it on the box. And that was the only goddamn difference. It wasn't wag you beef, it wasn't high quality. Nope, it was the same fucking meat. So she at the time was telling all her friends, don't do it. Buy a regular. If you wanted to go, buy a Friendly's fucking burger, make it home.
00:21:00
Speaker 2: That's is that what they call it, the friendly fucking burger.
00:21:02
Speaker 3: Put it on the grill, put it on your own grill, smash the shit out of it, Squeeze all the juices out of it, make it crispy on both sides, and put it back in the bun.
00:21:12
Speaker 2: And now you got the Mister Beasts burger for the same price. You're welcome. You don't have to pay an eight dollars up charge.
00:21:19
Speaker 3: And again, all you got was a goddamn Mister Beasts logoed sticker and they just did something different to the burger.
00:21:26
Speaker 2: There was no extra meat. It wasn't like a secret seasoning or a secret saucer. That's the way mister Beast likes his burger. And you want to charge an extra dollar because it took extra labor, or you had to put more meat in it, because once you shrink it and you know it gets smaller, they put the more meat in it. That's fine, but eight dollars is crazy. If you were to buy cherry ice cream, scary, what would you expect to be in the ice cream?
00:21:48
Speaker 3: I would say it would be vanilla based cherries. Vanilla based ice cream with cherries.
00:21:54
Speaker 2: With cherries, right, Okay, If you were going to buy chocolate chip ice cream, what would you expect to be in the ice cream chocolate chips. Okay, thanks. If you were to buy peanut butter vanilla ice cream with peanut butter, h what would you expect to be? Maybe nice? A little ribbon of peanut butter swirl going through it. When you go to friendlies and you order pistachio ice cream, do you know what's in the pistachio ice cream? Scary? Almonds? What almonds? What? Slivers of arms? Slivers of almond? Fucking cheap on the pistachios because they're giving you cheap ice cream. So the mister beast scamboni, it's a pistachio ice cream, Scamboni hit the jingle? Scary? What the actual fuck you? In my pistachio ice cream?
00:22:43
Speaker 3: They do not put There's not one bit of pistachio, and the pistasio ice cream no made with real almonds.
00:22:48
Speaker 2: That's it. Almonds slivers of almond? What kind of bullshit is that? That's what a lot of Listen when you go to ice when you even go to the supermarket and you get the uh the brand name, you know, the white label or the supermarket's own brand of pistachio ice cream, you better read that label.
00:23:05
Speaker 3: Better look at that picture closely. The other thing is it's not pistacha. They put that green food coloring in to make it look like a pistaga. Like the green color is pistachio. So what exactly is in the pistachio ice cream that makes a pistachio? Is it a pistachio flavor? So an artificial flavor pretty much. But what they do is they make you.
00:23:27
Speaker 2: They make the ice cream taste like what a pistachio ice cream ice cream would taste like, but without the pistachio's in it. So if you ordered cherry ice cream, you would expect to get like big cherries in it. If it's a good place, they make the cherry ice cream with no cherries or maybe like who knows, pieces of uh, grapefruit or something. It's just whatever's cheaper. Also, friendlies can go fuck themselves because I want my pistachios. That's some bullshit. Yeah, By the way, most of the friendlies in our area closed. I used to like friendlies. They get a fribble. Ribbles were good. What's a fribble shakes? It's like a malted shake. It's like when you get a frosty from from from Wendy's. They call it a frosty because it's a little thicker. It was a fribble, was like their version of a shake slices. Have you been to friendlies lately? Because we haven't. I haven't been to a friendlies in years. I don't. I don't even know where to find one. Yeah, there used to be one, man, maybe you know what used to be one? Not far from the ice cream store where they filmed the last scene of Sopranos. Oh right, okay, yeah, Blue New Jersey something like that. Right around the corner from there was a Friendlies. And well, I could say that that I'm not missing friendlies, and there's this far better places to eat out there than friendlies. But whatever that to each you can I can? I tell you. I'm going to try to remember the details of this, but I once ordered a ice cream Sunday. Now you remember, you know the glasses they're like they're V shaped, so they're very narrow at the bottom and they widened at the top and they're like there's Sunday glasses and they're like eight inches tall. God's honest truth. I once ordered one and at the bottom of the ice cream was a dirty napkin. Oh stop, yep, the whole meal was free. I was with my family at the time. There's a dirty napkin.
00:25:19
Speaker 3: Body took a dirty saucer or whatever it was and the glass thing and they put a scoop of ice cream on top of it thinking it was clean.
00:25:27
Speaker 2: I can't. I don't want to think about how it happened other than there was a napkin under the ice cream. So that is not surprised they closed. Not surprised they closed. So there you go. I I gotta, I gotta, I wanna. I want to play a clip that is it's It's. It involves a politician, but it's really about the paint. So we can focus on the paint and not the fact that a comedian is making fun of a politician because it relates to a story. Now, scary when you lived in your old apartment which you moved out of only a few months ago, I ribbed you because you painted it white. Now you painted it white, and they told you that was wide an earth tone, Well it was, yeah, Well I was. I wanted to go with earth tones, so I wanted to go with neutral colors, like a white and and and what was the white the color of the white. They told you it was Chantilly lace, Chentilly lace with a pretty face. All right, all right, big bopper, thank you. Uh so they got the r ST. Yeah. And then then you bought a car because it was called Brooklyn Gray. Well, not because it was. It just so happened to be called Brooklyn Gray. I didn't buy the car. I wasn't any more persuaded into buying the car because it was called Brooklyn Gray. It was just a gray car. Now. You know, when they told you it was Brooklyn Gray, You're like, oh, Brooklyn Gray, and you've told people it's Brooklyn Gray. Right, Like when you see it, show people the call. You don't just say it's gray, you say it's Brooklyn. Oh yeah, this is BMW's branding for the word gray. And this is called Brooklyn Gray. Yes, right. And I gave you ship for falling for the for the scam falling you got. You got sucked in by the name. All right. I wouldn't call that exactly called that a scam, but okay, well I not a scam. But you got you got bamboozled, swindle, you gotta they got they do they put the car in the showroom knowing you would buy it, Brooklyn Boy, Brooklyn Gray. So, uh, last night? Was it last night? Strokes white stripes? Mm hmmm? On on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he's talking last night. Sorry, oh okay. He's talking about the reflecting pool in Washington, which reflects the Washington Monument that President Trump had painted blue. So he plays I'm as that's I'm blue, talking to the President talking about why he liked this particular blue. And listen to how Seth Myers talks about the President's comment and how it relates to what I did to you.
00:28:01
Speaker 4: In fact, Trump seems to be treating the reflecting pools so much like one of his own pools. Did he even let the contractor upsell him on a new color?
00:28:09
Speaker 5: You said, what color would you like, sir? I said, well, what about turquoise like in the Bahamas. You said, well, this is Washington, sir, what can you give you a turquoise? But why don't you try like we have a color. It's called American Flag blue. I said, that's the color I like it. He talked me into it very easily. Man.
00:28:28
Speaker 4: They saw you coming from a mile away.
00:28:31
Speaker 2: All right, so you try are you trying to an old.
00:28:34
Speaker 4: Blue paint sitting around and said, oh, yeah, we got one. It's called American flag blue. Same way car salesman up sells you on the exterior. Would you like to see this, Ferrari? And now the color is we have one called big penis red.
00:28:52
Speaker 2: You see, the thing is American flag blue.
00:28:56
Speaker 3: Though in this defense defense we all know what that looks like, because is all I mean, it's an unmistakable.
00:29:01
Speaker 2: Color, except the painter didn't have paint laying around that was called American flag blue. That's the joke. It was blue paint. And they told the president, oh we got some blue paint. It's called American flag blue. I like the sound to that. Listen, I don't blame the president for painted American flag blue. I'm saying it wasn't called American flag blue five minutes earlier. Right, That's all I'm saying. It was. Maybe so that's the color of the flag, right, blue. Okay. Anyway, so Seth Meyers made the comment about big penis red. They got you with big penis Brooklyn gray. Same thing. He knows the scam fair enough. I just thought made me laugh. Maybe thinking that is no, that's definitely funny. All right, when we come back, I got to give you a recap of something I've been wanting to talk about for several weeks now, and it Oh, I know, yes, I'm very excited this was I could finally blow the lid off of this because it happened last Friday night and we're.
00:30:01
Speaker 1: Going to talk about Oh, wait a minute, what, Wait a minute, Katie Perry, Yes, you Katie, it's very very funny.
00:30:14
Speaker 2: It's scary and Brodie scary. You got to talk about the pre party stuff. What your dad said, what I said, what your sister said, set the scene. So last Friday night, we threw a surprise eightieth birthday from my dad, and you know my dad, you know, let let let's roll back, rule us back a second.
00:30:39
Speaker 3: As you know, I lost my mom two and a half years ago. We lost her, and so my father has been very very you know, he's been jumping back into you know, with his friends, and he's he's he's good, he's okay, he's gotten through you know, made it through the rain. You know, we'll but like so, so he's still he's very active and he's still with it. And my sister and my brother, and I said, well, he's gonna be eighty. Let's get all of his closest friends together this let's have a party and make it about him, and let's do it.
00:31:14
Speaker 2: What I'm sorry, I said, okay, by Manela, let's do it.
00:31:19
Speaker 3: Let's do a sat Let's let's do a party, and let's let's bring everybody together in a cating hall.
00:31:24
Speaker 2: And let's do it so nice.
00:31:26
Speaker 3: Now, about a month before, I was at breakfast with my sister and my father and I said, so, Dad, you know you're eighty. And this was gonna be the moment where I told him we were going to go to dinner. You know, we're gonna introduce the idea that on this Friday night, we're gonna we're gonna go to dinner with the family. This is the setup to get him to the party.
00:31:48
Speaker 2: It's not a little intimate. Yeah.
00:31:50
Speaker 3: So I said, Dad, we're gonna let's go Friday night. You're gonna be eighty. We we didn't think about doing anything for you. I said, I think we should, you know, we should go to dinner. And then he looks me and my sister straight and the dead in the eye and said don't you dare And we're like, what are you talking about? Because nope, don't do it. Don't do not even think about throwing me a surprise eightieth birthday party. You threw one for my seventieth birthday party.
00:32:18
Speaker 2: It was amazing. You threw one from me and Mommy's fiftieth anniversary. It was it was great. All surprises. I've been there, done that. We've done this already. It's different now it's just not you know, it's a lot of money. You know, we're going on vacation twice this summer together as a family. I don't want to party. Don't do it, okay, okay. In other words, he doesn't want the fancy garbage pail. If you guys remember that story from many years ago, the regular garbage pipery, I don't need one that closes and compacts the trash by itself. So, unbeknownst to him, he put me and my sister in a really bad spot at that point. We so afterwards, were you should we call Steve and our brother and say and call this off. My sister was ready to be like, we got what are we gonna do? We just got to cancel it and I'm like, fuck the fuck we are we all the invitations are out, everyone said they're coming.
00:33:16
Speaker 3: We read to the place, and above and beyond all of that. Forget about all that stuff was done, because anything could have been undone. I guess right, but he deserves.
00:33:26
Speaker 2: It, and he's gonna be when we get to that moment and he's in that room with his friends, he's gonna have the time of his life and he's gonna forget about all the things. He said, all right, tells you very good. And he tells me. Scary tells me he's planning this party for his father, and that his father wants low key, don't make a big deal. So Scary tells me, I got a bit of a dilemma. I said, what are you planning? Scary? He is, well, I hired a band, I hired a magician. I said, Scary, you have Walkler's and like Pyro. He goes, yep, I got Pyro and Sparklers. I go to your bottle service, he goes, I may, and so Scary as I go, Scary, he goes, I have a DJ Is it scary? Are you throwing a party for yourself or for him? And says scary says, well, you know, you know my style. I'm gonna I gonna make it, gonna go big, gotta go over the top, I said, Listen, the man said he wants nothing, And your answer to I don't want anything is to have a flame shooting out of the ground when he wants Okay.
00:34:29
Speaker 3: So I hired our friend Phil Cross, who was longtime, long time DJ on Z one hundred still is there at the radio station, and he's got his own entertainment company. This guy now throws parties and does big contract events for like Times Square New Year's Eve. Like he's got his He's got all the rigs, he's got all the equipment, he's got everything. So I'm on the phone pill and I'm like, look, I gotta turn the volume down on this party a little bit because now I'm I have in my head is what my father told me. Don't you dare tell me a party? So now no sword swallowers, now no flame.
00:35:07
Speaker 2: Now I got to decide do I want how big do we really want to go? But because I was thinking, I was thinking, you know, maybe we need maybe we need the drone. You know, maybe we need a drone. So Phil tell you tell the slices though, did you cancel the camel rides? Stop it? We we were.
00:35:29
Speaker 3: Going really big until my father said that. And then I had to like really turn down the volume. But Phil wasn't hearing it. Phil was like, well, you gotta do it, drone.
00:35:37
Speaker 2: Down the volume. We gotta do it. You gotta do a drone. I said, what do you mean you're drone? He says, well, the drone. Since it's an indoor outdoor party, the drone is gonna be hovering and.
00:35:48
Speaker 3: It's going to be capturing the party. So then this way you could interlace that in your recap video. And I'm like, oh, recap video, what's that? Yeah, we do the life journey videos. We're gonna pull everybody aside with the microphone. Everyone's gonna, you know, wish Tony the best. Uh DOWNI this is your friend Rosa Lake. I just want to wish yeah happy.
00:36:09
Speaker 2: And then this so Phil had this idea.
00:36:12
Speaker 3: He goes, listen, the guys that I'm giving you are they're Hollywood filmmakers, and you need the drone because they need that footage.
00:36:20
Speaker 2: And all the wanted to go to Applebee's exactly, hied Steven Spielberg.
00:36:25
Speaker 3: So Phil now is slices is the equivalent of my fucking interior designer. Now try to upsell me on everything. So Phil's like, dude, you gotta have the drone. I said, no drone. In fact, no videographer. We're gonna cut the videographer. What you can't do that? I said, Dude, when is my father ever gonna go back and look at any of this shit? I said, he won't. He won't watch the video. Why are we doing this?
00:36:51
Speaker 2: And Phil, just for you and your siblings so you can watch it someday when you don't you know.
00:36:55
Speaker 3: No, but they have all these other people talk about my dad like, you know, I don't need that.
00:37:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not Yeah, but this isn't a wedding. And then Phil's like, all right, well what about the photo booth?
00:37:07
Speaker 3: You know the three sixty I'm like, do you think seventy seven year old people are gonna stand on a fucking round platter and have us spin and start dancing like like morons in place as the camera circles them in at three sixty and makes them like this three sixty video? I said, that's for sweet sixteens, brah, And maybe weddings with people are under thirty. I said, this is the average age here is seventy eight years old.
00:37:34
Speaker 2: What are we doing? Phil? And feels like all right, but you're not gonna talk me out of the cold sparks. I'm like cold sparks. Cold sparks is basically legal favorite points. By the way, it is legal Pyro. It's Pyro. Whether you don't need a permit is because the sparks are cold to the touch.
00:37:53
Speaker 3: But there's still gonna be these flames shooting out of the ground. They come in these giant paint cans and they fly out of the ground when you press the remote controller. This is scary, keeping it low key for his father, who could have had a heart attack when he saw the Pyro going off.
00:38:07
Speaker 2: So so his own likes. So I left the I left the cold sparks because it was funny. So when my father enters the room, surprise, fucking flames starts shooting out of.
00:38:17
Speaker 3: The ground to the ceiling. And we got the cold sparks. But I said I didn't need I didn't need any of this. Oh, the all the giant robot dancers. Halfway through the party.
00:38:29
Speaker 2: Phil wanted to get these giant robot people on stilts. They were in costumes. I've seen those. Yeah, they're like they look very like, you know, like like transformers, right, like really like futuristic whatever. Realized you were ready to do something crazier than what Caliner and Anthony did at their wedding. Yes, and they had like crazy stuff. You were going to blow out the blow out the windows. The eight year old father who just who just wanted a slice of pizza. These just wanted to sit home and relax. Well, maybe go to you know, TGI Fridays, Right, and you got sparklers and pyro going off. These are and you had a magician eight and a half in there too, eight and a half foot robots, right, And I'm like, you know what, there's not even gonna be dancing. These robots are gonna come into the room. What the fuck are we gonna do with these robots? What are they how are they gonna do? No?
00:39:20
Speaker 3: I said, these people are here to eat, drink and socialize with and that's it. So we we tempered the party. There was a photographer, it was very classy. There was a DJ. So we didn't make them put up four screens.
00:39:35
Speaker 2: And we put up music videos.
00:39:36
Speaker 3: So the screens were going with the music videos to the to the in sync with the seventies and sixties hired and sync the sixties and seventies music that they were playing. They had all concert footage of the seventies of like, you know, all these artists. So that that one that was a hit because all of his friends were like, you know, reminiscing and they're watching these videos from the footage of like Dion doing run around suit.
00:40:02
Speaker 2: Didn't you try to hire Sean Anaha, some band from the sixties? Okay, what I did want I did look into this. I looked up to see if the Platters were still playing, if they were still together or dead, or the or the del Vikings or the always bands in the late fifties. You want to see if this is.
00:40:25
Speaker 3: I was googling every fucking du hop band known to men, and as it turns out, a lot of them. The third generation of these bands still tour with one surviving member who joined the band after they were already washed up. So like maybe the Platters were popular in the sixties early sixties.
00:40:46
Speaker 2: There was a dish. A guy joined the Platters in like nineteen seventy five. Right, he's the last guy and he's the only guy that's there, and it's it's basically the people the person that owns the naming rights to the band is And I'm like, now we don't want these. But then I'm like, what if we could have Frankie Valley show up and sign on it? Oh my god, you did mention that. Yeah, but Frankie Valley is living in Palm Springs and as you've seen.
00:41:11
Speaker 3: From his he's a zombie. Yeah, but I wasn't didn't want him to perform. I'm like, just show up and take pictures and sign autographs.
00:41:18
Speaker 2: Okay, Cranberry's very.
00:41:21
Speaker 3: Funny, so I wanted some kind of an element.
00:41:25
Speaker 2: So we didn't get that, But wouldn't it.
00:41:27
Speaker 3: Be hilarious They just have like like someone walk in from the like the nineteen seventies and hey, what's up? Here's Tony or Lamb could have gotten he probably could have gotten frank stallone. Well, I actually was gonna I was actually gonna hire Curtis Sliwa. They love the Curtis Slee was the guy in the you know who ran for New York City mayor. He's the guy in the red Beret, the Guardian Angels guy, the Red Satine Jacket. He works with us now down at seven ten w R and our sister station late seventies.
00:42:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, so I'm like, hey man, as a half joking, I said, you do parties. He was all the time. Yeah, I'd love to show up. I'll show up for free. I mean he's a Brooklyn guy, you know whatever. But I'm like, yeah, it's gonna turn political out whatever I have better not so we we didn't have any famous appearances, but I did have a magician, and the magician went over really well. The magician John Stecil great man. Oh he's fantastic. Yeah, sweet sweet, one of the sweetest men on the planet and a terrific magician. If you got a chance to.
00:42:34
Speaker 3: See him perform and do his shows. He plays in New York City at the Moxie. He's a residency there.
00:42:38
Speaker 2: Go c John's tess E L L. Yeah, he's so great. And he did pop up magic. It was kind of cool at table the table good Man fun stuff, kept the kids entertained. It was great. The bottom line here is it's scared through a party for his father who didn't want the party. But ultimately your father was okay with the party. He had a good time. He thanked us. That was a point where I thought he was gonna lose it, but he didn't because when he walked I saw the video when he walked in, and he sort of looked like he wanted to kill you, but he was going to play along. He seemed like hew. He settled in once he was around the people that were closest to him, his closest friends and family. It was all love in the room.
00:43:20
Speaker 3: We didn't, you know, I didn't start to I did purposefully did not hire an MC because the MC is like, you know, the crowd motivator, like let's let's party rock everybody, get up out of your chairs and dance.
00:43:31
Speaker 2: We weren't trying to do that. It wasn't that kind of party, but the license. Would you if you told someone not to throw you a party and they threw your party anyway, would you be like, I'm going to enjoy it, or it's like, hey, moron, it tell you not to throw a party for me. Let us knowles talk about it and I will.
00:43:47
Speaker 3: I did want to say shout out to our friend, chef friend Peter Boutrose at the Stonehouse because that's where we had the party, and one other thing I did, would you.
00:43:56
Speaker 2: Would have been taken me there? By the way. Peter Boatrose is fantastic. You can take me there, excellent Staten Island and he also also does Violet Cellar.
00:44:04
Speaker 3: The Canola Guy. I hired the Canoa Guy. In the last hour of the party.
00:44:08
Speaker 2: There's a guy who comes in with If you remember the nineteen forties and fifties women that walk around the movie theaters with that strap and the a baseball game when they have the popcorn and the peanuts around their Now.
00:44:24
Speaker 3: Yeah they're hold and they're holding that thing. So there's a guy and he's got all the canoli shells lined up.
00:44:29
Speaker 2: He came up to the morning show when I worked there. Yep, correllod Canoli Nick the Canoli Guy, the original the og. He showed up. He was a huge hit.
00:44:37
Speaker 3: He imports his uh marcipone the cream, the canola cream from Sicily and and.
00:44:44
Speaker 2: There's discounted you get for promising you talk about it.
00:44:47
Speaker 3: Not a penny, nothing like a freshly piped canoli on the spot.
00:44:52
Speaker 2: You know how I hate my Shan got the Canoli's the canolis that they pre pipe and they put them the refrigerator and then you buy it twenty four hours later and then there's the yellow was as soft as the cream because you like it freshly piped. Huh, I like a freshly piped Yeah? What am I leading myself? Like pipe cream? All right? Like thatsty pipe cream? Fuck you, David Brody, you know how to really really ruin a moment. Thank you so much. You said it. You're disgusting podcast. Okay, So you've been talking about restaurants and food you so it's just a reminder and Scar you I know you're gonna tell me. You know, you know, you know, and you do because you do. I went to a pizza festival in the summer of twenty four that you were invited to but you couldn't make it. I remember this, okay, all right. And it was at the racetrack in New Jersey, the horse race track, and it was like thirty five forty pizza places that tents set up. And because I was a you know, VIP treatment, I got to have free samples from as much as I wanted from any of the you know, any of the tents. And there was a couple of places that were really really good, really good, but there was one that I thought was exceptional, outrageously good, like, oh my god, this is another level of pizza. And that was a place. I said to the guy, what's the name of your place? He's BUCkies And I said, oh, where is your store located? We don't have a store. You don't have a store. He says, nope, we don't have a store. Someday we hope to have a store. Yep. So I I messaged him on Instagram a couple of weeks later and I said, hey, Dom, Dom's the owner. I said, where can I get your pizza? He goes, well, we just do corporate events and we have a truck. You know, I'll have to find the truck. He said, Well, listen, we just closed on a property in Chatham, New Jersey. We're gonna open up in October. I'd like you to come to the opening night party. Of course I'm not. I'm there, very very nice to me. The pizza is it's Detroit style pizza. And when they first opened they only had Detroit style pizza, and you had it. They brought it up to the radio station, so before long before the long before the brick and mortar. They came up to the morning show with their pizza when they were just doing this out of the truck, and we helped blow them up. And they give me credit for that too, which is so I have been telling people everyone I played pickleball with, you gotta go to this place. You gotta go. One of the Italian women I play with came in the other day and she said, you changed my life. That pizza changed my life. I said, well, you're Italian, she was, I know, guys, it's that good. Is that good?
00:47:25
Speaker 3: And that's so deep in the suburbs to get pizza that quality that great and deep in the suburbs like that, you don't find it anywhere.
00:47:32
Speaker 2: But this is a standout. I think I know where you're going with this, David Brodie, we talked about this on the radio today. Yes, So they started selling round pizza to broaden their menu because it used to be just a Detroit style, which is Sicilian style but a little fluffy, a little different. Google what Detroit style is. It's not selling round pizza. Cheese overlaps the edge and the cheese has a nice crisp to it and it is part of the crust Detroit style. Yeah, anyway, everybody's been sending me videos, so don't you don't say I know? And scary nose. He's probably talked about the radio today, Dave portnoy Yep, once won bite. Everyone knows the rules. He went there to judge the pizza. Now, he doesn't like Sicilian pizza. He hates that style of pizza. Hates so he went and got the round. Now there's a woman sitting outside in the video and she's like, this is the best pizza I ever had. This is the best. You better give it a high score. But he does this thing and he goes, this is fantastic, some of the best pizza is. It's outrageous. It's so good. Which I'm like, yeah, no kidding, Dave, Yeah, it's fantastic pizza. Dom's a genius. So he loves the pizza. He goes, honestly, I remember the last time pizza is good. Oh my god, No, Scary. If you're rating pizza on a scale of one to ten and it's outrageous, the best you've had in months and months, what would you give it?
00:48:48
Speaker 3: I mean we're going from zero to ten. I would I would give it like at least a nine point one nine point two I would be I would give it a low nine. I give it a nine four. That's how frigging good this pizzash. We gotta leave little room for above, because you never know what you.
00:49:02
Speaker 2: Can have later on.
00:49:03
Speaker 3: Of course I already know, and yes, and I take exception to his rating the same way you are about to. He gave him an eighty five and then says, I don't know eight five, eighty six, what's the difference?
00:49:14
Speaker 2: Eight seven? I don't even know the difference anymore. Give me a five. So the woman goes, well, just give him an eighty seven. Then nope, I already gave him eighty five. Now, look he gives everybody every restaurant like from seven to three to eight six, all of like average numbers.
00:49:29
Speaker 3: Can you spare some cuffew tenths of a point? Come on there, David telling me you can't. There's no one you could give a nine to one to two. Look, I don't even consider this guy an expert on pizza. He loves pizza. I love pizza. We all love pizza. He's from better worse.
00:49:41
Speaker 2: Than any of us. Yeah, and exactly that being said, oh I said it. Damn it. That being said, yeah, I said, I wouldn't say it. You can't give an eight five to pizza. You just said his outstanding. Because now you're saying this a point and a half. Better give him a nine to two. You know it's funny. He goes, You're gonna be very busy from now on thanks to me giving you this great review. And dom sister was, we're plenty busy now because he is. They're always busy. So if you thought they were busy now because this isn't a struggling place where he's got to help them out. By the way, that doesn't mean don't go. Definitely go, but they're gonna be bombarded. You won't probably get a slice of pizza anymore. Well, I have his number. I know Dom as well. I said, you, meaning your people, we're gonna get that. I know. God bless him. Dom. I'm very happy for you and your wife. It's a great family. The pizza is amazing. I'm just a little pissed off. And then he took a swipe at lmb's our favorite place in Brooklyn. He goes, that's that's overrated and it's new owners. First of all, not overrated. You're not from Brooklyn, You're from Boston. Second of all, it's not new owners. For one hundred and fifty millionth time, same family, one of the owners got killed. Same families, same people. It's not it's not new owners. It's the same piece it was when I was a kid.
00:50:58
Speaker 3: Every few months in the the Brooklyn fan facebook page, which is like a swamp sometimes, yes.
00:51:06
Speaker 2: They basically say that it's the same all day.
00:51:10
Speaker 3: You hear they sold it to Blank, they sold it to this race, they sold it to the Greeks. Everybody know they did not. It's the same fucking thing.
00:51:19
Speaker 2: We know. Everybody loves. They love the rumors, they love the start the bullshit. Sure I heard they sold it to Martians. Did you hear that? Yeah, the Grays took it over. Lizard people are running la. Oh my god, the piece is not the same. How they gonna make pizza with their little lizard arms? T Rex is back there making pizza. Oh my god. The Nordicks, the Nordicks are making that pizza now at lanba own's on his hands. A Viking guy making pizza. What does what does a Viking? No? Oh my god, yeah, that Brooklyn page is just the misinformation and misinformation. Speaking of misinformation, I wanted to tell you a funny, funny thing from Facebook. I'm in, Uh, you know, I'm a little more political than you, and I'm in I think I might be. I'm in one or two political groups, you know, groups that I agree with politically on Facebook, and I try to stay out of them, but every once in a while, I'm in them. And this woman posts here. She says, nothing on this page is fact based or verified. Now, she is obviously someone from the other side of the aisle, and that's fine, But she said, nothing on this page is fact based or verified, and I only believe in things that are fact based and verified. So I click on her profile picture. Scary, you know what? How you know how her big picture is her profile her picture? What is it with the banner and the banner picture? And all of her posts are about Easter and the Easter Bunny and how much she loves Easter. I don't remember Easter being fact based or verified. So I wrote it, says the woman whose Facebook page is dedicated to Easter, where's your fact based and verified now? So I got a lot of likes in hahas. It's just people are funny, you know. They say things and they I gotta have proof of everything, but I don't believe it. I think it's approven and you're like you easter bunny. I mean, come on, obviously you can believe in things without fact. Religion is based on believing in things that aren't necessarily proven. It's about faith, right, scary. Faith is important. You gotta have faith. George Michael, thank you. I was waiting for that. Will you think they would have got that one by me? Come on, now, I can't slip that one past the goalie. By the way, speaking of slip one past the goalie, I'm sure of you're a big hockey fan. This didn't happen to you. But with the Knicks and the craziness of the NBA playoffs, yeap. The NHL really needs to move the Stanley Cup finals. They really do, because it was happening at the same time. I have no time to watch two teams that don't care about It was overshadowed. And hockey has a bad enough problem because it's always you know, it plays third or fourth, fourth banana to the others. You know, to to football, football baseball and basketball. I mean hockey is just so Yeah, they need to do something. I think to move it. Yeah, the move moving it would be the best thing. And I think this the season is too long short, I don't know. No, you can't show up. You'll lose a lot of revenue if you short in the games. Let's not talk about that. I'm talking about just the postseason. Even if you're a hockey fan. If you're watching the Stanley Cup, I know you can tape games. I get it. Well, in the moment you're going to, don't you want to? In the state and the World Cup's going on? Who has time to like flip over to watch the Knicks if you're a hockey fan. So just terrible ball, Okay, I'm gonna pill a brody here that being said, right, is that what you say? Hey, how do you feel about World Cup? Then? Because that's also going on in this collision of sports. The World Cup didn't really get started until the Knicks were done. I mean, thankfully the Knicks one and five, right, so it was over pretty quick. There would have been some overlapp you know if they went seven games, Yeah, I would you know, what the Mets are playing in Philadelphia. Normally you play Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday or Friday Saturday Sunday. They moved the Phillies Mets game to Thursday. They're off tomorrow because right across the street from where the Phillies play, there's World Cup going on. And isn't it USA USA at three o'clock? Is that right? I don't know, it's it's soccer. I don't know. I don't know. I just know that they moved the Mets game. Is not all Mets have a rare Friday off? Yes, because the world usually opening weekend. Yeah, yeah, you can make adjustments. I just again, hockey's fourth in popularity, so they got to move it. And and you know what it was, the Vegas Golden Knights. Is anyone getting pumped up and excited for the Vegas Golden Knights. I mean, they've won before. They're a good franchise.
00:55:51
Speaker 3: But I wouldn't know. I just know the Hurricanes were in it. The Canes whoever they.
00:55:56
Speaker 2: Are, Yeah, you know, from the hockey frozen lake mecca of North Carolina, North Carolina, Right, Yeah, I was hosting a couple of soccer watch parties and uh, you know, I'm trying to watch watches. I'm trying, well, we was a viewing party, oh okay, and I'm trying to get into it. And I'm trying, and I'm like, I'm sitting here like, you know what, I just I can't. I'm trying to. I need more action, I need more scoring.
00:56:29
Speaker 3: I need I got to see that, to see the ball go back and forth for ninety two minutes plus and.
00:56:34
Speaker 2: Then they ended this time at the end and then it's high. It's just not doing it for me. I don't know a fan of you're a fan of soccer or football. Here's my idea. Where's the excitement. Soccer is exciting when the play is around the net, right when when you're passing the ball and the goalie is trying to figure out what you're gonna shoot. There's some anticipation. I'm excited about that. That's fine. Same, But then then there's the air, the the the football field in the middle. That is unnecessary midfield. So my idea, right, my idea is bring the goals closer together so that you can go from goal to goal faster like hockey, and there's more action. It's too it's too far. It's too far to like kicking and kicking and kicking the past half the time, they go a third of the way and they kick the ball the other way, the other way, the other way, and then they're kicking it all the way across the other soide right, and and and and that.
00:57:30
Speaker 3: To me, that that is not excitement to see all that midfield action.
00:57:34
Speaker 2: Too much, too much dead space. Bring it tighter. The sport of soccer is fine, the kicking, the running, the goal. The absolutely too much middle. That's my slogan. Too much middle. Get rid of the middle, cut out the middle, and narrow the narrow it a little bit, and you're gonna see. First of all, you can see people running faster, no more walking, no more slow. They get all the way over there, wait eight seconds the ball to go to the other side of the field, no fast compact, and I'm telling you it'll be like nine to eight scores. It'll be terrific. I just saved. Listen. Obviously, they don't need my help. It's the most popular sport in the world. But if you wanted to work here, I don't know if you remember these to have indoor soccer. Uh No, they used to play indoor soccer. We could throw the ball off the walls and a major indoor soccer league. The Michael Jackson off the wall very nice, and it was it was it was the size of like a hockey rink. So it was much more action going on. That's it too much. Terror fabulous. All right, we gotta take a break. We'll be right back. I think we're getting a fabulous reference Terror action action the reggae song Terror fabulous. You like that. I'll get you every time? All right, Britty spears every time. The rhythm is gonna get the rhythm is gonna get you. Uh. I saw a quote online. I want to I want to make two blind referen here Helen Keller said. According to this quote, Helen Keller said, alone, we can do so little. Together we can do so much. Helen Keller, Helen Keller was mute. She was deaf and blind, deaf dumb, not dumb deaf and blind. Did you call her dumb?
00:59:19
Speaker 4: No?
00:59:20
Speaker 2: I was thinking of the Who song Tommy Deaf dumb and blind kid shop plays a meat pinball. So I wasn't saying that Helen Keller was dumb. I was just crossing the lyrics. Helen Keller. I mean, it's a quote, but you're quoting a person that doesn't speak. I just find that fascinating. So I guess in sign language she said it, But also she was deaf and blind and didn't speak, so I'm fascinated by how they taught her to be able to comprehend and have a quote like that. So I found that interesting. And then there's a young woman on I don't know her name, but she's on Instagram. She's blind, blonde girl, probably in the early twenties, and she does some very funny things and she's got a great account. And this person wrote your beautiful inside and out, young lady. I think I may have mentioned this before on the on this podcast, she's blind, So does she have to use a reader to read the comments? Like an audio reader? Oh yeah, well, I don't know. You got me on that one. Like our friend blind DJ Dan, he reads with a thing that that that reads out loud, reads out loud. Yeah, So if you if you are if you are blind and you have one of those things, or if you're DJ Dan, who's a friend of the Morning Show, I'm fascinated by that. I would love to hear you read with it uh to hear that sounds. So that's it. That's all I had to do. And then I saw this thing on Amazon. Scary. I'm want to hold this picture up. You see this? Yes? Do you know what it is? It's a hand free, flexible gooseneck fold holder phone holder, Okay, so that you can walk around with a phone around your neck and then on a bendable goose neck so the phone is out in front of you, so you can watch television or watch your phone through like two feet in front of your face. Now, why would you need walk? Why would you need that? Well, I mean that's really that's next level of tuning out. It's tuning into TV and tuning out of life. I mean, we get very few precious moments where we don't correct have a phone in our face. Now you need a phone in your face. Literally, it says it's a it's for the for the bed, like when you're laying in bed that you like lay down and people are gonna misuse it, right, Well, that's just it. It looks like. So it's with the pictures that they show is a woman walking with the phone in front of her face, so terrible. You're gonna walk into traffic. Yeah, like, I understand if you're like you, like, say, you're at work and you don't want to hold the phone, But it just seems like we're getting lazier and stupider, like every five minutes, like you need this? Are you describing you and I? You and me, you and me, you and me against the world. No, I'm not. I'm just describing this thing on Amazon. I saw because I was looking for a phone holder for someone who asked me if I could find something for them a specific type of phone holder, and I saw this. I'm like, it literally goes around your neck and then somewhere above like this woman's breasts is is a wide metal piece where the goose neck flexible thing comes out and holds the right Yeah. Not necessary, not necessary for for life. But okay, it reminded me that movie. What was that movie? Uh? It was a Pixar movie with the robot and everybody was fat and lazy. Herbie, what hold on? Hold on, I'm bad with movies. You already know where everybody is fat and lazy and sits in chairs in the future. Oh, Wally, Wally, I didn't see that. Yeah, it was not good, and I just feel like that's the that's the the world we're heading towards. Just oh and then another things. A slice sent me this. This is gonna take my job away. It's it was sent to me by Robin. Thank you. Robin sent me this a while ago. It's from a company it's all you can look up on Instagram called whiz of a I W I z O f a I And she thought this would be great for me. So you can train your AI to go on phone calls and argue with customers support for you. It speaks like you, listens like a lawyer, never gets tired. And you can get this app on your phone. Okay, this I like this. I like so. It's called Where's of Ai? You tell it what you want. It makes the call, handles the rep It pushes until you get the answer you want. And you don't have to be stressed out, which is really why I wake up in the morning to be stressed out. But you would use this, you like absolutely, Yes, anything that makes my life easier. I'm in like like self watering plants.
01:04:31
Speaker 3: Self watering plants is so great. Although I will tell you I see one of the leaves are dying. One of the leaves on one of the plants turning brown. And I don't know how to I don't know how to reverse that.
01:04:43
Speaker 2: All the leaves are brown. Okay, No, I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do. I got these I got a snake plant. I got one of those Cordylis cordilius plants that's red, red plant and it's turning brown? Do you add more self or more water? Like? What do you do?
01:05:09
Speaker 1: Though?
01:05:09
Speaker 2: This thing is the instructions.
01:05:12
Speaker 3: The instructions say, fill it up to the reservoir in the you know, you open up the side of the plant, and then you just pour the water in like you pour like a gallon inside the dirt, in the dirt and the plant. There's a there's like a like a plastic hatch. You open up, you flip up in the lid and it's like a reservoir.
01:05:35
Speaker 2: You pour the fucking water down the side and it fills up around the outer part of.
01:05:41
Speaker 3: The pot, the inner inner outer part of the pot, the inner part of the pot, but around the edges of the pot. So and then and then that is supposed to You're supposed to it's supposed.
01:05:51
Speaker 2: To drink about a full plant's worth a full pot's worth of water, which is a gallon every month, so I'm supposed.
01:06:03
Speaker 3: So I set an alarm on my phone a reminder that on June twenty seventh, I got to water my snake plant. No, the snake plant is every two months, so the Fiddley fig gets gets gets water at the end of the end of the May at the bar you hang out in. No, it's a plant. And then actually though, it's the syphilis syphilis plant something you have a plant with syphilis. No, it's called the shut up house, hold on house.
01:06:35
Speaker 2: I'm good, easy plant, hold on, No, not easy plants, perculosis plant, not easy pass easy plant, easy plant, easy easy plant, an easy plant. No hold on? What's the name of this fucking plant? Encephalitis? No stop it ginger bitis No, it's diverticulate. Order shipped? What was it?
01:07:02
Speaker 3: I ordered the I ordered a cord aline A cord aline plant.
01:07:07
Speaker 2: That's the one with the red leaves, like is that like the cordyceps virus? And then I ordered I ordered you know you're terrible, you are awful, And I ordered a hold on order it delivered. I ordered the green snake plant, and I ordered a neuroblast stop it green snake plant. You're a terrible David Brody. I'm one, and it was, Oh, it's.
01:07:34
Speaker 3: A cheffel cheffalera amte snuff. You have a chef chef Lara, a chef Lara. Oh so yeah. So there's a brown leaf, and I don't know how to funk it. I'm like, what am I doing wrong?
01:07:57
Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe smoke it, I don't know. I'm giving it write sunlight. I don't know what to do. And and now self sunlight? Is it a self sunlighting plant? It needs light and I have plenty of light. I I so.
01:08:09
Speaker 3: So my question to you, David Brody, is if this ship starts going south and these plants start dying, do I mean are they do they owe me my money back?
01:08:19
Speaker 2: Like? How do you get free dessert out of that? Out of a dying plant? Only you could kill a self watering plant. No, only, I'm following the instructions to a t. But but there's brown there's at least one or two, there's two brown leaves. One of the leaves fell on the floor from the chef Lara. I'm like, no, bro that was expensive ship. Yeah, and this Michael Lea, he's got a place down the shore.
01:08:45
Speaker 3: The corder line looks like someone an insect took a bite out of it, but there's no insects around.
01:08:50
Speaker 2: So honimately self eating? Do you have a self feeding a roach problem? You laugh? Yes, I do laugh. Yes, that's the point of the podcast. No, I know, but like, but these are serious problems. These were these weren't cheap, and everyone said, you made fun of me. Okay, see this is why I can never win, because way back in the beginning, I mentioned God Grid that I had fake kalalilies in my apartment, and you and everyone else on earth made fun of me. Look at you. You went to fucking home goods and you got you got gravel and in a glass vase, and you put these klalilies on your on your on your your your table. Get a real plant. So what do I do? I fucking get a real plant. And this is and I have to listen to this bullshit, says the guy who fell on a dolphin. You should not have living things in your apartment. I should know, because apparently they calm you down. Maybe you should You should open up a forest in your apartment. I wouldn't help because that's how bad it is with you that. I mean, you know you need to be calmed down. I'm completely good. Plants comm your nerves.
01:10:03
Speaker 3: Plants. Plants oxygenate the air. Although I heard that that is an old wives tale.
01:10:07
Speaker 2: It doesn't do once you have. Don't you have an oxygenation calming machine in your bedroom? You would think I did, but I don't. Don't you have a Dyson machine. It's some kind of machine. I've been the the Dycon. Yeah, I gotta mention brand names. Yeah, it sucks in.
01:10:21
Speaker 3: It sucks in the bad air and blows out filtered air.
01:10:26
Speaker 2: So it sucks and blows in your bedroom. Yes, And I'll tell you what. There's a freshly pipe cream.
01:10:32
Speaker 3: It definitely works because it's always on low and it's like and it's scanning the air, and it's on auto, and it's oscillating, oscillating. And then when Robin comes over and she comes out of the out of the bathroom with her perfume, these perfume that she puts on, it starts going. It starts rubbing up, and it starts no. No, it detects the toxins in the air. That's how I know the damn thing works.
01:11:00
Speaker 2: Oh the toxins, just saying your girlfriend's toxic. No, the chemicals that she's putting on. I'm like, look at this, and you know whether you lecture her on the pifis and a perfume. Let me tell you one time, I'm not even gonna lie. I'm just gonna let you and the slices in on this.
01:11:18
Speaker 3: One time, I was walking by the fan and I had a fart, so I just went, I just I just I just went, just floated.
01:11:24
Speaker 2: An air biscuit right out there, right in front of the fan. Guess what, and then it goes Yes.
01:11:30
Speaker 3: Within fucking five seconds, the thing revved up because there was this noxious, toxic air and it knew there was other there was chemicals in the air. I'm telling you is what the dice in air purifier fucking works.
01:11:44
Speaker 2: Folks.
01:11:45
Speaker 3: They're expensive as hell, But what did you learn, slices? Did you do the same thing. Robin's perfume smells like Scari's farts. That's what I heard. That's all I'm taking out of this conversation that there's no difference between the perfume Robin wears and scary noxious fart gas.
01:12:01
Speaker 2: Is the machine reacted in the same way. Thank you. Make sure Robin didni his podcast Scary's got a fart sucking machine in his bedroom. That's great. Are we done? Plants oxygen it's scary. They turn carbon dioxide into oxygen. I know that they live. I said it was a wives tale. No, no, the wives tale.
01:12:18
Speaker 3: It's a marketing ploy when they try and sell you on you should get plants because they're good for They're good for oxygen for your room, and it may may may have some health benefits. That's the marketing scheme that if you google that, they'll tell you that it work. No, yes, plant the oxyduct. For instance, they say, always put a snake plant in your bedroom. It's good for your It's good for the air, the atmosphere of the oxygen. The Robin like the oxen the snake plant.
01:12:49
Speaker 2: The amount of oxygen emits is nominal, so it's not really doing much. So you said that. Their slogan is it may help you no well, white lions, main mushrooms. It may do all those things.
01:13:08
Speaker 3: I believe in cordysheps more than I do that a snake plant oxygenates and is healthy for your room. They're nice to look at it, and it adds some greenery color.
01:13:19
Speaker 2: It's it's a mood. It's a mood. It adds brown because you have brown plants. Now, no, well not, the snake plant is green. We're good, okay.
01:13:30
Speaker 3: And by the way, the snake plant can live in the dark. That's why it's a versatile and popular plant because doesn't need to kill it sunlight at all. You'll find a way to kill it. I think I'm gonna buy a tree next. There's a tree category on Easy Plant. They're expensive, but I have the ceilings that are high enough for it. I'm gonna I'm gonna get a tree.
01:13:49
Speaker 2: You can get a tree. There's a money tree. Why don't you get a mountain while you're at it. Your apartment is big enough, all right. I think it's buy a tree. All right. Uh, there's an there's an expert live in another world. He's just home, sitting here looking at the skoyload of Manhattan. I'm gonna buy a tree.
01:14:07
Speaker 3: This milk has expired. It's time to go say good night, good night, Grace.
01:14:12
Speaker 2: Late. It's late when we're doing this podcast tonight. It is. It's very late, very late. All right, have a good weekend. Brock Boys blast Boys
