Speaker 1: So you already play this? Yeah, so hi, welcome to Broken Boys this episode three, Well, wait a second. That comes after we play the introd Okay, new Year, Happy New Year, Happy new Year, Happy to get U scary happy need everybody listening? Um, I wrote a new a new song. I didn't want to just play it. I want to explain. I wrote in a new jingle back from vacation song. So I hit that Brodian scary. There you go? You like it? The hell is that? That's my new song? Wait a second, it's it's forty seven seconds long. Play it again, started again and probably probably turned it off too soon. It kicks in Brodian scary. Do you like it? Fucking sucks? That's it. It's still rolling. I'm it's just dead air. Hello, it's still rolling seven seconds seconds. I put dead air in there, so it looks like a full length song. So what the hell was it all about? That? That's all that's on the entire track of forty seven seconds? Yeah, that's me winning boom stag Brodian scary. Guess we'll just got back today the Brooklyn that it been away. They both have so much to see, you know. Their names are broody and scared, and they brook the boy back in town, Boys back in Town past episode three. I'm the Brooklyn Boys had a very happy New meek unless they're listening in like August. Wow, I don't have a time on your vacation now. A spring break was break happy Easter. Not so I feel like we haven't We haven't done a new podcast in three weeks. I feel dirty, actually, because we recorded episode twenty two at a time when the day after we did twenty one, and we released a week later, right, so we released so you guys heard it a week later. So you guys have been starving for two weeks, but we've been starving for three. There's so much to get to. We just got here. So I spent the first week of my vacation, we were on two week vacations, thinking about like writing everything down. Oh, that's great with the podcast. Then I realized we didn't have a podcast from other week and a half. Then the second week I started worrying, have we lost it? And I thought so too, And I was gonna call you up. I was going to call you up on that Monday morning, like after New Year's like New Year's Day actually, and I was gonna say, Brodie, should we go into the studio later this week and just drop another one another one? Well, and because that would have been great and no one would have seen that coming. Well, here's the thing, though, the girls of the Acquired Taste podcast came in on January three and did a podcast. They did one and they said, holiday cards to their listeners. They did. They send holiday cards, the beautiful, full, glossy holiday cards like snail mail. You know what that is, though, you know, like guys, they said, they say, guys with sports cars are making up something like a small penis. I feel like they're making up for something, and I feel like we don't need to make up for anything. No, I feel like we're being cheap as well. I don't feel like I feel like they spent the money, the time, the resources. So you're thinking that three of them on that show, there's three of them on that show, and they've been and they've been doing the show for two years. And then Kathleen had one of my interns stuffing envelopes. I'm taking partial credit away from the wonderful podcast Girls at an Acquired test Box. Next year, at this time, we need to do something for the hollidays for our listeners. We'll have to make sure our interns are available at stuff Envelopes. Are they are you do the hiring for the program. Why don't you dedicate in the fourth quarter and intern just for the Brooklyn Boys podcast and then we can make them our bitch. Okay, First of all, I wouldn't use that word. Second of all, from Boks, not Brookline. No, that's Massachusetts and not Glenn, Iowa either, Brooklyn, New York. Although I do have the Brooklyn, Iowa show. I know you do. Yeah, it's very cool a shout out to Brooklyn, Iowa. Anyway. Um No, the interns come here to learn radio and not to be on a podcast of stuff Envelopes. I yelled at Kathleen. I'm like, that's not what the interns are here for. It's like, well we have we have you know, uh, seven hundred whatever they sent out to people, Like, that's your problem, don't you know? Don't send out seven hundred cards then you can't do it yourself. What did you do for the holidays? I caught up and binge watched a lot of the TV shows I've been putting awful year that I didn't watch. So we did local stuff, you know, local or around the neighborhood, restaurants and whatnot. I drank every night and I got a fat face from it. Oh, Brody, what TV shows did you watch? Well? Funny you should ask Gary. No, we go back and forth here so so yeah, so you've got a fat face from drinking. I have a fat face from stuffing my face. Yea. Anyway, so tell me about you want to hear about the seven sushies you had? We talked about that podcast. Uh so I watched both seasons of Stranger Things, caught up on that. Not a show for you, nope. Um, although I keep seeing that kid in the commercial. Okay, uh I liked him on Stranger Things, but I don't like him in the Files commercial. Geil, the list was cute and Stranger Things it's not at a character. I don't need to see it. I watched Westworld, but that was really good. Okay, Um, I'm you don't watch any TV shows. You don't watch anything? What do you watch? Where was the last yow you binge? That's not, that's not, that's not. That's like a weekly event. I don't even have a Netflix account. You know that you have nothing. You don't watch TV. I started watching The Magnificent Mrs Mazel on Amazon. That's great, a lot of Jewish humor. If you put hashtag tribe, you'll enjoy it. It's it's cute because stand up comic in the fifties. It's very funny. And I'm gonna start Ozark because I didn't get to Ozark on my vacation, but I'm gonna watch that on That's on the Netflix. It's on the Netflix. Ah. So my vacation, I really did a lot of drinking. I don't know, on a start, more drinking than ever. And I have gone. I did a lot of partying and I've gone out places and I'm not gonna bore you with those. But just let's say, Uh, I was supposed to start my Doctor Fat Lost detox hit the jingle Why can't you just say you're starting your diet. It's a program, it's a detox. But whatever it is, I don't know because because radio personnelity, yeah, I refer to it as that. But the short of it is, I was I always start traditionally on January one. You are not a fun dieter to be around. Why not? Why what do you ask, okay, your fifth year, four fourth year. And it's very successful. You feel better, you're more awake, you lose weight quickly. I don't get paid, I don't get all of it back. No. No, it's a very successful program for you. It works for you. The problem is it forces you to eat very healthily. Healthily Is that a word? Yes, it's an adverb. Eating is the verb that Mr Grammar police. You want to go look that up? You are you the chief of police here? I think it's healthy. You say healthy? No, because you I said eat? Eat is the verb. Healthily is the adverb. I've never heard the word healthily in my life. Looked that up? Hold on, I'm looking it up. I don't. I think you just made that ship up on the fly. Hold on hold definition of healthily healthily it's an adverb. Put it, put it, hold on hold to hold on, hold on. Definition of healthily. Now it keeps auto correcting. Hold on now, I see it here, it's I see it healthily. Yeah, what is it? What's the definition in a way that promotes or indicates good health? Yeah? Thank you? Suck it. Why would you question me? Because sometimes you're wrong? No, The problem is nobody uses adverbs anymore sody. An adverb is a verb that modifies an adjective, So it's an ad verb. So like you run quickly, but everybody else says, oh I ran quick, or oh you did amazing. Sometimes I've rhyme slow, sometimes I rhyme quick quick yea, but I know it's quickly. People say, oh, you did amazing, No you didn't. You did amazingly. So you're supposed to everyone drops the l y. That's one of my two pet peeves right now. The dropping the l WI is my pet peeve. And you know how, everybody for the last couple of years says actually, and basically for no reason. They're like, oh, what are you doing this morning? We take calls on the air, I'm actually going to work. Actually should only be used when it's something fucking amazing. Afterwards, Oh, I'm actually going to the moon, Then you should use actually, what are you doing today? I'm actually on my way to school. No, that's not exciting, it's not like unbelievable. Right, Like, I got into a car accident, i lost both my legs, but I'm actually still gonna walks. Here's the new thing for I would say late seventeen. I'm gonna point it out, and you guys, if you're listening, you're gonna go home, you know, Like you know, when you buy a car, you buy let's say you buy a red Toyota Camry. All of a sudden you see red toglet of cameras on the road. Right, Great teacher's got a new Ford. He bought a Ford Explorer, and he's like, you know what, it's a very popular card. There's a lot of all over the road. I keep seeing forwards because you own a Ford, you come come successful. I'm sorry, eight minutes in and we've already gone on twelve tangents, but keep This is tangent day. So my pet peeve now and it's driving me crazy. I watch a lot of cable news, and I watch a lot of sports and listen to sports. People are used to be actually and basically right, oh, basically actually right now, it's kind of and sort of People are putting kind of and sort of in the middle of sentences for no reason. They'll go, oh, yeah, so I was kind of late for work yesterday. No, you late for work? So you watch the news and they're like, yeah, they're kind of trying to stop ISIS with this new program. No, no, they're actually trying to stop Isis stop. Yeah, so they're sort of looking to cut taxes. No, they're looking to cut taxes, stop adding kind of and sort of. So that's my that's my my mini meani back to the healthily healthfully. Sorry if I stopped you, but healthily it just sounded awkward to me. Okay, so you're eating healthily. The problem is none of us are eating healthily. So you're gonna do what? And you guys, you all, everybody knows a person like this. It's the oh you're gonna eat that egg rold it's calories. You diet you be you, you diet you right. I don't give a crap. Oh yeah, because people are always imparting their opinions. Yeah, you do that, and you also do Oh, I can't eat that because I know I'm accusing you of being the modern guy. Or to make it everybody has to know everybody today by happy anniversary and entimates. We love by the way, a Brooklyn based bakery. Yes, some of the best chocolate donuts ever. Again Yeah, well you know what, I still have a problem with entiments And again you know you have this problem. No, Yeah, companies have products, right, and they have a line of products, a line of flavors, like ice cream flavors, and they take it like it and they take it away and it's gone. Right. And to Men's had a golden maple fudge cake. It was golden cake, just pure heaven with a thick maple frosting. Was a walnut maple with sprinkled walnuts on top. Right, don't be so descriptive, stop it. So I ate it quickly, all right. So then they changed it and put a layer of chocolate under the mape, like a drizzle of chocolate. Then to give a little dark brown on top of the maple. And I was fine with that, right, So I would buy They would, and so they would come out seasonally. They were like half the seasonally, and so I would buy two. I think it was in the winter they would come out, so I would buy two, put one in the freezer. Then they stopped making them. Now every year they bring back classics, but they never bring back the walnut maple fudge cake. I think eventually it will be a classic. I've written them, I've written them, I've tweeted them and written them agontam dessert literally literally, I have a free free dessert, major free dessert. Update. We'll do that. But okay, but here's the problem. You will not only be on a diet. I got to hear it all the time. We go to a restaurant. What do you do, waitress? Uh? What do you have that isn't cooked in oil? I eat like chicken boil. That's doing that's doing me. How does it affect your life? That's fine, except we have to wait eleven minutes. If you oil it by the gown. You should call the restaurant in advance and make sure they have what you are. It's it's a nightmare with you. Okay, But it's like me with scallions. Okay, So but then anytime food comes up here, you're like, oh, I can't eat that. It's it's it's got this in it. Or I can't eat that because it's got pseudo carbo nitroglycerates. And I'm like, what you make up? Ship? And I go whatever it is. You don't want milk with you? I don't want carriagene. And cargen is awful thing. We went to school with hard, didn't we kin? Yeah, I think right. But you know I don't want nitrates. I can't. But if you don't want to either want high fructose corns, you know what you know what you are. You want to be a vegan, you don't want eat meat, don't eat meat. But when I'm eating meat, I don't want to hear what you eat and don't eat. If you're a kosher, I'm gonna eat palk. I don't want to say one thing. Don't ruin my food by telling me what you can eat. Your very favorite thing in the world is food. Hines catch up. The number two ingredients I don't care is high fructose corns? Not true. I'll tell you what You're partially right. First of all, you do have an organic one. I now buy the simply Hines ketchup, which is which is not the high fructose. But a recent survey came out and said that regular sugar and high fructose is the same. Now, bullshit, you're listening. You might correct me unhealthily and your adverbs Mr spelling man, but I can tell you right now. I'll google it. High fructose corns here is one of the worst things you can understand. I'm saying that, But there's now research come out saying your body converts regulars sugar into high fructose. Your body converts it anyway, it doesn't matter. Don't know that you look it up. I don't know. We're not health experts. But anyway, So my problem with doing this program, which shell remain nameless. Thank you your fat loss program, the fat Yes, my fat loss program like that. So the problem with that is I start on January one, and then I'm done by Valentine's Day, you know, because then I can eat a great meal for Valentine's Night. Right, Here was the problem. We were on vacation. So am I gonna start this thing on January one and then we don't go back to work on until January eight? And I'm gonna sit there for the rest of the week in my apartment in sub zero tundra temperatures, eating my arm. No, because I'm gonna I'm board. I'll go start crazy. What do you do when when it's cold out and you've got nothing going on, and you're on vacation and you're not looking leaving town? You go out to go out to drink while pleasuring yourself. You right, but that's what you do. So Brodie, I didn't start the program until January eight, So you screwed yourself. I did, because now it's gonna end eight days later. It's a timed program. Now you are you gonna take your girl off a Valentine's Day. You're gonna tell you can't go out to eat because you can't eating. Wow, Well, dude, I gotta finish the program. I can't just like leave it midstream. I just want I'm just gonna cut it short. I want to lose maximum thirty eight pounds instead of forty, because then I'm gonna start two pounds heavier next time. You know, it's just one of those things that lose that lose the forty pounds a week less, a less time. It's hard to do. There are a couple of sit ups. What the hell? No, I don't. I don't exercise, I said a couple. I didn't say a lot exercise. I know you don't. Please Brody. You're talking crazy here, I am talking. You're a lunatic. I am a lunatic. You can always email us at the Brooklyn Boys pob emails that fast already. I feel like we just got here. I have seventy five things to complain about Oh my god, we haven't been here in a while. We haven't well, did you want to talk about your new How is your New Year's Eve? We didn't even finish what we were doing. I mean, we didn't even talk about like our holidays. You barely give the surface. All right, My daughter ruined New Year's Eve a little bit. I had achieve ruined New Year's Eve, my twelve year old. Oh I'm crazy about all right, So we stayed home this year. We we what we did too. You're not crazy about no, I love them all. I'm just comment thing I'm crazy about my little one because I'm about to say to you, ruined New year Eve a little bit. So what we decided? When you point one out, then you're all my kids? You know my kids. I love them and I even know two of their names. So anyway, we we decided we were gonna each pick our favorite food, what restaurant we wanted that was open. And I went and picked up everybody's favorite food, every restaurant they wanted. It took me like an hour and a half. One wanted Indian, one wanted tie, one wanted ramen from Japanese place. I wanted Chinese of course, as I got everybody, and then my wife wanted to town like the United Nations of my wife lasagna. We both got lasagna. I got, I got lasagna and tie and Chinese food. It was great. We went around the whole lake anyway. So at midnight, you know, you count down, you do the ball thing, you count five, three, two, one, whatever. Now I may have explained this before, but you know how a DVR works, right, You're not actually pausing live television when you have a DVR. The way a DVR works is it sends the signal to the DVR, a TV signal, it records it onto a hard drive, and then like two or three seconds later, you see it. So when you hit pause, you're actually pausing a recording. You don't pause live TV. That'd be impossible. So when you're watching television, you're always a few seconds behind reality. So if you call somebody and you're watching let's say you're watching a baseball game live, no DVR in your house. You call your friends watching the game, you're a couple of seconds ahead. So you're like, oh, home run. They're like, damn it, I'm not up tonight yet. So there's a problem on New Year's Eve because you're technically three seconds behind you. But if you don't think about it, you just sit in front of the TV and you count down everybody else. But when my daughter is looking at an app that has a clock on it, she's like, I'm we're like five four three, it's like Happy New Year, like you were on three and Happy New Year. She's like, yeah, it's New Year. Yeah, okay, But by the time you realized it wasn't New Year's for you know, because everyone looked at hard and then we didn't take watch the TV because we all looked at hard What are you talking about? So, yes, she technically celebrated New Year's New Year's Eve, And to New Year? Were you when you celebrated? When you rang it in? We're on the couch. By the way, another pet peeve, don't don't wish me a happy New Year's here we go. Don't combine New Year's Eve new Year. No, it's not unless you by the way, I want to. I want to compliments on our listeners because they did tweet us some great grand mistakes. Yes, here's the thing, unless you're actually wishing me many New Year's days in the future and many years of happiness. That's fine, but it's not New Year's It's not it's you're wishing me the year. It's happy New Year, right because they weekly take them one at a time. That's all I'm saying. It's not just a little song. It with you. I'm okay with that. Okay, a big thing. But it's so. I was spent my New Year with some friends. I was supposed to work a gig and then they the client pulled out, and I couldn't think that client more because I probably had one of the top three best times and I don't need to think that client more. Right here, You're not going to do that. So instead, not a client went to a place called the Hyatt House in Jersey City. Remember we used to work in Jersey City and back in the daytures right across the street. They opened up a hotel and they're branded Hyatt House, but apparently they're owned and operated by a different company whatever whatever it is. Hiatt on the pier, another one, another one. So that's the higher regency. And I always thought that. With I learned a little bit about the hotel industry. Hotels are not all created the same. They buy, they buy into the franchise. So there's the Highatt and the Highatt House are one is one and that High Place. They're all different, but they all but they're in not owned and operated by the High Corporation. They're owned by some random company or they're owned by a bunch of investors and they're operated by a random company. So the Hyatt House, which is literally like a stone's throw from the High Regency down the block, they hit each other and they're in competition. I mean, they're a different price point for a room, but they're they're like vying for each other's businesses. The manager gets a bonus, that gets a PA. But but the two companies have nothing to do with one. They just both have Highatt branded stuff. It's like radio stations, right, But we're here to beat them, yeah, exactly. So anyway, it was a beautiful rooftop and it was so great and we had to dress up. It was a black tie affair. But here's my problem. It was a New Year's Eve masquerade ball. And this is where my issue is. Any time you have a freaking costume party could be Halloween, it could be a New Scarade thing. How long do the masks stay on about twelve seconds. Everybody walks in it, right, you get a mask. My friends went shopping for these elaborate masks for this masquerade party, and I'm like, guys, it's not that big of a deal. Yeah. Some of them are that. Yeah, yeah, some of the half masks, the quarter masks, the one you see in Family the opera. But the ones that are all be dazzled. My friends, I said, guys, it says masquerade. I think it's bedazzled, bedazzled. Yeah. I don't think it's be dazzled. I said, be dazzled. Yeah, it's not be dazzled. It's bedazzled, bedazzled, that dazed. Right. So so I'm telling my friends, I'm like, guys, you guys, don't bring you don't have to bring. Go crazy. It's one of those things where it just says masquerade on it. You know, they show a picture of the person like holding a little masquerade. A little mask on a sticky mask on a stick is bullshit, by the way, because because you're not gonna hold it up the whole time like a mask, and then you put it down. So I was right, we get there. Everyone was dressed beautifully. See what I did there. That's an advert beautifully beautifully. I didn't say beautiful because I know better. That's right. Everyone was dressed beautifully. And what do you know, within like ten minutes, people were over the mask thing because people want to they want to be they don't all ruar my hair and I want to show my makeup. I want to show my These are New Year's Eve pictures. You're taken. So it's just to me when you do a masquerade party in general, and it's a half past costume party, right, and if you were a masquerade party and you're only wearing like the Batman and Robin the Robin goggles, like you're just covering around your eyes the little mask, people know who you are exactly is that's that's not scary. It couldn't be. I can't see around his eye, right, that's scary. Happy New Year? All right? We moved on. That was what we did. Well. You were listening and binge watching and listening to our podcasts, which, by the way, I have a problem. I have a problem with that. How could we be here and they were recording this is January t my mom's Holy sh it, my mom's birthday. Oh it is your Yes, it's your Okay, So here we are in January. Did you just remember it's your mom's birthday? What did you get her? Oh Ship, you didn't get your mother forgot birthday? I got a call on what you're happy birthday? Now, well in a couple of minutes. But what my point is today is Wednesday, January tenth, when we're recording this, how is it possible that we already have thirty thousand, Broody get thirty thousand people that have listened to the podcast for the month of January, but we haven't even issued a podcast. It's amazing soup that means thirty thousand listens on our podcast. By the way, you just got very Brooklyn there. You just said thirty thousand, thirty dirty, thousand Dirt's got to be a couple of thirty pund there somewhere thirty salads people have listened to a podcast, Brody, can you believe? So? So, what does that mean that they're listening to old Ship or they're listening to the same five over and over again? Now here's my here's my question slash complaint. Not really well, all right, here's what I don't understand. I'm looking at the numbers for our podcasts. Not gonna get out the actual numbers how many listeners, but I'm looking at episode nineteen, right, We're gonna use that as the baseline. So episode nineteen was was was was dressing room slobs. I don't remember what the rant was, but it was it was. It was a good episode. Um, we got X amount of listeners. Right to that podcast number twenty, which I believe was the uber rant, right, that was a great episode. Was great. That was She's Not Pregnant where I accidentally said something to a coworker that his wife was pregnant. That got X amount of listens. Okay, twenty I'm jumping ahead to twenty two Free Dessert, which was the bonus one. We did got a smidge under X amount of listeners, right, so people are just catching up episode twenty one, which was extra long for your A U R A L Oral pleasure. Right, It got almost more listens. I tell you why because it's extra long because it was a sex It was a sex uh in sexual innuendo title. People thought it was oral pleasure. But either way, no, no, because well, first of all, I was making a joke. I invented that title, and I and I invented the title, invented the title. Okay, I wrote that title and and it was kudos to you. No, no, No, the point the point I was gonna make what's the ups rant one? Maybe that's why. Yeah, but if I would have put ups something it's not sexy. It's a great title, but I was. I was playing obviously for those who don't know and didn't listen, don't know what we're talking about. I spelled it a U R A L said that right, pleasure, which means listening, pleasure, oral oral listening. But oral is obvious. See the playoff words. You know what I meant. And I wrote extra look at the punch. So the thing. No, but the point is when you see that go by amongst the thousands of options that you have to listen to at a given moment you're in your car, you're gonna that you're reading all the titles when you're in your car. No, I think people, I want I want listen. Look at me. I know. I want our listeners to explain this to me. Okay, if you're listening to all the episodes as our listeners claim to do, first of all, if if if X plus. I don't know, Like I said, if a shipload more people listen to twenty one EPs and then twenty two was a normal amount and twenty was a normal amount. All those extra people, hold on, let me finish. Did they not listen to those other podcasts or did they listen to twenty one multiple times? Did they go back and tell their friends you got to hear the ups it, you gotta hear what Scary said. No, I can't fathom. It was a great episode. But why aren't all those people listening to all of our episodes? Those are because I think those are one timers. Those are people that discovered it for a moment and it was a fleeting thing in there. You know this. So you're saying they were sitting around Christmas on vacation and they're like, oh, it's Christmas, I'll listen to this podcast. And then they listened to the next one. No, they saw the title extra Long for your Oral Pleasure, and they're like, funk, I gotta hear this because that's what brings them in. And so here's what I want to do. It's tweet us at David Underscore, Brody at Scary Jones as to that one and not the If you're someone who listened to that one more than once, well listen to that one and not the other ones. I want to know why what happened. That's why I need an expert. Or maybe they heard the rant and then they said, here's what it could have happened. It could be a combination of both. Actually, here's what could have happened. They might have gone to their friends and said, oh my god, you gotta hear this. Awesome eups rand, you got to hear this, check this out, and then you got to listen. From that person to their friends, they might have shared it with somebody maybe, So I want to know what so we can do it again. I want to do more of whatever it is that got people. If it is the sex cells in the title, what would this be called? Right now? We need another sexual you know? In fact, two guys jerking off. That's all we're doing is jerking off. But I don't I don't think that's not attractive. I think nobody wants to hear that. Okay, so what do we say? We'll come up with that? Okay, now nuts no, no, no, no, who nuts hanging around? Whatever? Um, here's speaking of listening to our old episodes and catching up and listening out of order, I have to ask for a Brooklyn Boys rule, okay, and it is to be a rule. It's a double rule. It's part one and part two, the same rule. If we make a mistake, Okay, I made a mistake, very very quick mistake. I don't like seven episodes ago. Look at the date on the podcast. If you're three months later, you don't have to tweet me to tell me I made a mistake. You're not the first. You got three. I gave you three days. Three days. So if you want, do a search for my Twitter or scary Twitter and the word we messed up, and see if anybody else told us already. Okay, it doesn't help to tweet us and go you're funked up, like back in September, somebody else already corrected. I will explain that you bring it to light. Here's hold on part two of the rule. Now listen, if we mess up, it's it's absolutely okay to let us know if you think we haven't looked it up at that point, because we want to be right, we want to make amends. And I will again apologize for this mistake. Um, but you can't put a disclaimer and go, I know you guys hate when we correct it. But I'm just now listening. That's on you, bro, That's on you. If you're just now listening, you have to live with the fact you didn't get to correct us, right, You got to live knowing we probably got corrected already, because I you know, I respond to every tweet. If I have to keep responding to the same tweet that I made a mistake, like, enjoy the podcast and don't worry about the mistakes, you know, it's funny, you know it's weird because similarly, there's another adverb yeah on the got into a couple of arguments on the texts for the Morning Show yesterday with a few people, and I think maybe you responded to them, which I appreciate. But someone released a spoiler, Oh yeah, you got our show. Ye, this didn't make any sense. And there are people that texted in that obviously went to the same website to get the spoiler that we got it from. Someone out there in the universe has a website that releases spoilers on show spoil ship dot gov right, whatever it is. So there was a spoiler on spoiler ship dot We found it. We did it on the air, but we didn't tell people it was part of it was part of a bit, but we didn't tell Pete. But we're not telling you what the bit was because we don't want to spoil something for you if you don't already know the spoiler. So we spoiled something if you had already spoiling if only if you had gone to that website too to know that it was spoiled. And these people texted us said, oh you just yeah, you went on spoiling ship dot gov and you saw the spoiler, and now you're spoiling it, sling your audience. Nobody would know it's a spoiler unless you're on the site that said this is a spoiler. Otherwise you think it's just some random comment, right exactly exactly. So we didn't spoil anything for anybody because we didn't say it in that context. I know we're kind of going around them, but the point is, okay, just you don't don't have to live to correct people, is what I'm saying. That if scary and I say, you know what, I don't know something, you to text in the day or two after the podcast goes up and let us know that's fine. Yeah, okay, So here's what I made the mistake. I'm gonna apologize to everyone from Philadelphia, Love Philly. But we were talking about sandwich names, right, sandwich sandwich, and how just in the East coast alone where we live, a couple of states north and South all have different names, different names for long breaded sandwiches, subs, hogs, grinders, sunders here, heroes, and then you got po boys in the South. Now we're not talking about that, says we were. That's only for Rachel Ray. We were just talking about Yeah, I know, I know, but we we we You and I were just talking about hogs, subs, grinders, and heroes, right, and in talking about all of them, I was on a I was on a ranch. I don't even know what the context was. I said something, Oh, well, if you go to Philly and get a sub. I said, sub was from Philly. I know they use get to use grinds, right, So I slipped up on that. But I got tweets that night and I was like, yep, and brain farted. We were live. I listen, I go to Philly all the time. No, no, I got yeah. Yeah. So but then, like I'm getting people going, hey, man, I know it was three eight episodes ago, but nobody in Philly would eat a sawb it's a hog like I know, So you don't have to feel like you need to tell me. I feel terrible. I apologize to the entire cityel terrible. It's a mistake. We're human. You move on. I get it. But what I'm saying is I gotta have what do you think two day rule three? I'll give you the weekend, okay, two days week days tweets. Otherwise, just assume somebody else ripped my ask for doing it. I apologized Philadelphia. Now is it sprinkles or Jimmy's all right? Should we do some mail? Should we not do some mail? What you want some mail time? Because I got a lot of mail. Mail talk that sounds like it's time. Welcome, You've got mail, so we um. I hope some sponsor love comes our way pretty soon, I hope so as well. Romel, No, I don't know what it's it's so weird. The subject line I'm sorry, the from says Romel, but the it's signed by a guy named Vic. What his name is, Vick? Romel could be Brooke and Boys started listening to The Big Show a few weeks before Bethany started. After a few years, UM, I slowly fell off, but when I heard of your podcast, I had to listen because I've always loved Brodie and scary, okay nice in that order. Uh. Through all of this, I never got around to contacting you guys via social media for various reasons, but I enjoyed that ups rant from Brody so much I had to write to show my appreciation. I was hollering with laughter, as were you, Scar, and knew it was the moment I would be writing you guys. I twenty three, grew up in Queens and it's actually refreshing to hear a couple of uncensored guys just chatting about random shit. Feels like home. Love you guys. Keep it up, Vic, Thanks Vic. Yeah, by the way, Vic, I'd like to see it come back to the Big Show and give us a chance to That was what I was gonna say. Also, we got an email from who's this James at James Joe on Twitter. This is a very long email, but I just want to say that he's coming from South Florida. Loves the podcast and he enjoys the yelling. Oh he you know, yeah, he likes that disagreements. He doesn't like it when it gets too loud though, exactly all right. Then he goes into a rant of his own and how he got free dessert. We could what's his name? His name is James. I think we should have James on a future he should we shoul haven't called it the James I was kidding with. Of course he was. Brian Olsen writes us, Uh, long time listen to the Big Show, new to the podcast, loving it. However, the volume of which you're talking at is so low when you all play soundbites and bump up the music such that it's very loud. Can you try to even it out? We do? We normally, Well, I told you the problem. In the studio we're in, which is the Elvis Right Morning Show studio, it records very low. Right, the volume is low, Okay, So how do we correct this ship? You know how to do that. You gotta do it, normalize Michael Camarada. Michael Camarada wrote to us, Hey guys, specifically Brody, since I know you guys love this stuff and one of your most recent podcasts, you were discussing the Feast of the Seven Fishes and mentioned fishes not being the correct word. Fishes is correct when discussing multiple different species of fish. US thought you should know that would be a fun one to share. So he's saying that we're wrong that what is the plural of fish? According to Quicken Dirty Tips, fish is the most common plural form of the word fish has in Squiggly brought home fish for the aquarium, But there are some instances in which people use fishes instead. Scientists who study fish, for example, often refer to different species as fishes. Brodie got owned were correcting him right here on the podcast. If you listen carefully, it said scientists who study fish, you were eating fish. What he's trying to say is it's several species of fish, so that is actually fishes. So fishes is correct in terms of species. Yes, you and you screw you, your dumb Italian wasn't disagree with you either way, because I didn't. I was unsure God Brodie first references. By the way, they were quoting this website of some girl. She's a grammar girl, Quick and Dirty tips dot com. I don't know if she's authentic. Okay, you're gonna hold it's the Feast of the Seven Fishes, and it's acceptable because we're talking about different species of fish, so it's fishes, so there's several right, but fish in a school of fish is still fish. That's what Brody was talking about. All right, This guy is right, Michael Comrade, I tiped my cat to you, brah mother. You can also sleep with the fishes as a godfather. That's right. See Liz from p a hashtag it's FedEx. I'm dying laughing. I'm losing it. MG. That surprised spin was the best hashtag Brody for the wind. I love you both nice all right? And oh wow, Brody, we you know why we have two weeks to catch there's so much email to catch up on. Three the ones about me. I love that. Okay, I'll do that. The post Free Dessert episode Brooklyn Boys Podcast at gmail dot com. This is from Irene. That's reight eight. That was episode twenty two, our last episode. Uh, thank you both for applying to my Instagram posts in the past. Definitely felt the love we both we get you guys are both busy. It's much appreciated. So that that's that. Uh. Talking about um Greek, I'm a Greek. With that being said, obviously my family owns a restaurant. What Greek family doesn't. And I have never had a Greek salad with salted fish on it. That was they freaking through anchovies or sardines on my Greek salad and it did. And I'm like, who the hell puts that on the Greek Americanized Greeks? Right, they said, I've never had a Greek salad with salted fish on it. Also, not to generalize, but I'm going to Greek people mainly the women love to compare. You can't say not to generalize, but I'm going to. You can't say that we can tell when something is wrong or someone doesn't feel good, the complaining stops. So if the complaints are spewing, then all is going well, Brodie, then this person she's got a free dessert. Example this is we could do a whole show just on free dessert. I have a bunch of tweets I wanted to read about free dessert. Okay before we get to those, because we're almost done here. Uh, Nathan Alan Morris has a bone to pick with you, Brodie, Okay, bring it. It sounds like somebody who shot a president. He's got three names. They're always the ones who shoot people. Hello. At the start of started this saying I love your podcast. Had to give it a chance and listen to a few episodes. At first I didn't like it, but now I love it. Also, Scary is right and Brodie is wrong. You tip your fucking mailman. He is providing you a service to the government, just as though you tip your waitress or cleaning person. The issue is not whether or not they make good salaries, and you shouldn't tip them based on that. The issue is are they doing a good job at what they are doing for you. There are crappy mailmen that throw the mail and don't read names and run through their routes because they don't give a crap hold on. On the other side, there are great mail men who take pride in the uniform, the way they read the correct names, every day, the way they help old ladies in their groceries, listen to people's problems, developing friendships seven days a week, yes seven, Brody, you argue, you're argumentative and you know it all. I know there are grammar issues. I don't give a damn. And also scary is the man Brodie is a cheap ass ps ha ha ha. Now you're mad from Nate the freaking male man. Okay, so Nate the mailman. First of all, people tweeted me who actually are malemen and mail carriers? It was a maleman and he said, absolutely right, not that, not that. Okay, you know what it's called when you do your job really well, doing your job. This guy sounds like a great male man. But if you're really kind and help old ladies with their packages, then the old ladies should tip you. I'm not tipping you for the old First of all, it's chinse. Second of all, no, it's chin Come on, it's absolutely chinsey. What if you have several chins? Are your chinz? Yes? Then your chin's ish okay, then maybe or your chins lee? Okay, yeah, that was one of the Atmos family. Right. Okay, let me tell about my mailman. My mailman likes to go in front of my picture window and antagonize my two dogs. Who's who barking screening him? And he stands there and dances in the window, so he pisces off every so I got him a nap. I wake up because my dog's barking at the mailman. Let me tap about my mailman. When I want a package picked up, you go on USPS dot com right by the way. Fuck USPS dot com. They make hold on. I love the carriers. I'm talking about the website. The password has to be a capital, a number, a fucking symbol. Who can remember It's like capital F. This is not my password nine seven four six question mark window win dings font Fuck you USPS dot com. Um, you know what I'm talking about. If you have an account, Fuck you. But so I schedule a pickups at a porch. My porch is about six ft wide by three ft deep, and then the steps start. I could lay down on my porch. Maybe every time I schedule a package with the date, oh put special instructions, It'll be on the porch to the left of the front door. You can't miss it. Every time I schedule a package. I come home from work, the pack shut up. I'm here, No, the package is still there. They never hold on they never pick up my package. So I know this sounds like the ups, right, it's not. I took the package to go to the post office to drop it off myself, and while I'm going there's a there's a parking lot with a burger king between my house and the post office. I see the postal guy, not my guy, in a truck online of the drive through. I drive in. I go, hey, excuse me, do you handle my block? He is what block? I tell him the block. He says, that's not my block. I said, well, how come the guy in that block never takes my packages? He says, oh, you got a new guy. I go, oh, not not dancing, Sam, the old guy dancing. He goes, oh, no, you get a new guy. Did you ask him to take the package on his He said, would you like him take that package? I said yes I would. Now here's the thing, there's two types of people listen to this podcast right now. One type is like, yeah, fuck him, don't tip him, he doesn't take your package, and the other half is saying, if you tipped him, he might have taken your package and that. Yeah, but you know what his salary is why he should take the package. Job is to take the package. The word package, you're the king of the acronyms is. It doesn't stand for okay. It does not mean that. It doesn't mean it's a fake acronym. Tips to insure proper service. That means what it means. That means you give the money ahead of time the hole and you're gonna get great service in return, which you should have done. That stop what tips means? I don't anyone listening to this podcast he's thinking. That's what man's thinking. Like, funk, this guy, he don't tip me every year. I'm not taking his fucking package. So it's chicken. It's the chicken in the day thing. You don't tip in the you don't tip you up. You know what, the chicken lays the egg, whether I tip his ass hor ass or not. The egg came first, No, the mail chicken came first. Should have tipped him first and got better service afterwards. Now then then you pick up my package like it's your job. Now I want your hand. Listen Lending Olive Branch Brody Lending Olive branch and listen to me. If you you go first, and then if you want a penny out of my pocket, you want my money, I want your hands on my package, and then I'll pay for it. This guy better grant my package. You're stopping, you're stopping. His job is one job. We agree to disagree. No, no, no, I hate that. I hate that expression. Well, I agree to disagree. We disagree. We're not agreeing. We're not sort of agreeing. We're not basically agreeing with I pretty much treated the man with honor and respect. Let me tell you something I want to say. I want to say it's one day right now. Okay, I'm just gonna be I'm not gonna tell you how much I tip every fucking doorman every port we covered this last week. But as a result, as a result they do their job, Nope, as a result of me being awesome to them, in advance of them being awesome every week. Come back and they they helped me hang a TV the other day. They what do you need, scary, what do you need? Oh my god, I gotta take this one TV off the wall and put this other one. I'll be right there, no problem, because I've already shown the olive branch. I've given a good tip, but here's them on the holidays. You're asking for them to do more than their job. It's not your doorman's job to hang your television. It's the mailman's guy to take a package. But if I give the mailman a holiday gift, then his asked better come in my house and hanging television. But until the mail man hangs my television, pick up the mail, deliver the mail, take my package. I'm sorry, Brodie, this is just you gotta someone's gotta go first, and you're give them the money, show them a little sorry this guy, this guy is saying you gotta tip because he does a good job for you. Everybody does. That's your job to do a good job. We live in a world where everybody expects to get paid for doing their job extra and about you and I do a good job. When was the last time the boss said here's a bonus? Hey, I feel we do something different though we have a different line of I just I feel bad for servers and bartenders and everybody. Service and bartenders make two thirty five an hour and work on tips. Right, That's why tip we keep getting into this kind of okay, So let me talk about a couple of people that got free dessert that tweeted me so again, if you know a free dessert is, it's when the manager comes over to your table and says, we messed up your food and we're gonna take care of it. But to make up for the problem, we're gonna give you free dessert that sort of stick on our show. Listen to old episodes, you'll understand. So readA mcgwin at Ohio mcgwin uh McGinn rather hashtag even is not even hashtag free dessert. If this revolution rebellion leads to a rebirth of good customer service, there should be a Nobel prize at it for you. So Nobel prize. I'll take a Nobel prize. Mike otherwise known as Android Mike one love him already. Android just went to uh Duncan Donuts. They forgot one of the sandwiches in my order, which happens had to drive back in the snow. They gave me two donuts from my trouble free dessert. Um, let's see. Oh, kristen Ka, says Kristen k one oh eight listening to the free dessert episode of the Brooklyn Boys podcast. I am on team David Brody on tipping at the end of the year. It's their job. At Scary Jones, thank you. Hold on Jason Curly. At Curly Jason says wife had a package from Amazon shipping through USPS. Had noticed got a notice saying undeliverable. Even though we saw the mailman all day. Wife called Amazon. They gave her a refund. We kept getting emails to send it back. She called again, got a five dollar gift card hashtag five uh. And then we got one more from Hector Sanchez at the hexicon Um. I finally caught up on at Brooklyn Boys WTF podcast today I got my hashtag free dessert. The restaurant botched my order, got the meal for free, and got free dessert. Another one. Speaking of free dessert, you know I'm putting out a book. I'm gonna put it you are okay? So am I gonna mention me in the credits If you go on Twitter now and you go to at free dessert, even as not even that's my account, good for you know? If I was as smart, if I actually did it on Instagram and snap was a listener of this podcast. I would have snapped that and then sold them back to Brodie for double I would never pay for it. I would find another way to spell it so and by the way, it's so yeah, hold on again, continue with your dessert. Well, I have a spelling complaint that I wanted to get. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so I have to we don't have music for spelling. I think I actually have something. Let's set the table though. I also have unused jokes. Yea, I may have some variety of mini rants. I didn't get to the three things that I wanted to talk about too. But you know what, well, we could save that because there's always next week. Yeah. I also have I'm upset. I'm mad at my Alexa. By the way, I'm sorry if everyone's Alexas went off twice now question unless you're listening through your Alexa. Damn it, that's three times. I have a bone to pick with Alexa. I have a bone to pick with the woman who is the tailor at my dry cleaners. I had a day from hell. I'm mad at Applebee's. I'm mad at the crank chop. The crank chop as seen on TV. What is the crank chop. Oh. I'll tell you about that later. So what did you want to talk about real quick? No? No, I wanted to, uh to point out some signs where people why don't you read why don't you read this? A couple of the signs that people are sitting, and we we are the grammar police. So here we go kind of like inspector grammar, Expect, expect grammar, inspect, expect exactly. Okay, expect her grammar it's in spec Expect the grammar. Okay. So I was at a gymnastics event this weekend with one of my daughters performing gymnastics, and they had to put signs on the bathrooms. Yeah, like, I don't know where the signs were. There were signs they already, but they wanted to make it more obvious. And if you follow me on Instagram at David Underscore Brody, you'll see the sign I posted. It said they had two signs, women's and men's, but they didn't have apostropheeses, so it was just w O m e n s women's basically, and men's is m E n s. So either they don't know how to spell the possessive, which is a postrophees or they thought the plural of women is women's and men's that it's awesome. So that's a pretty that's a pretty offensive thing to do in an event for children who are going to read that you, By the way, I think we should what people should do is and had I had I had a pen in my pocket, I would have drawn an apostrophe. But I never penned. So here's what I want you to do. If ever you see a misspelling, go on Instagram, take a picture of it and tag us at the Brooklyn Boys in the tag. You know, just tag it literally like put I said literally, that's a crutch word. So I want you to just tag us in the picture itself so I can we can actually talk about the pictures, right, Yeah, someone did. Tanya, who was a big fan of the Shia yea not the leg Nope, this is that shoes four t she's a big fan of all of our podcasts. She just said this what she called, I guess a paradox or I guess would this be considered ironic? It was a picture of a FedEx truck in front of a ups store. That's the FedEx truck, an actual FedEx truck was making a delivery to the UPS store. Well, hello, if you own the UPS store, wouldn't your service of choice be UPS to deliver you your packages? But clearly there's a guy. What what if the FedEx guy? What if the FedEx guy was dropping off his packages at UPS some Well, even though there was a cross pollination, is that ironic? Definition of paradox? Paradox a seemingly absurd or self contradictory statement or proposition that, when investigated or explained, may prove to be well founded or true. It could be a paradox, or is it iron pad ironic? It's not. It's not ironic. And by the way, most people say ironic when they mean coincidence. Yeah, it's like, oh my god, it was so ironic. We both showed up at the same store. That's a coincidence. That's not irony anyway, So for all your and I had a couple of other spelling signs and I don't know where they went. So sorry, here's what I'd like to do. I want to do an anti rant anti yes, um, I want to give props for great customer service. Oh, I had a small problem slash question. You know, Andrew Carnegie once said, catch them doing something right. Yeah, that's right. So Brodie, that's what I'm gonna do. I like this, this is this could be great. Where we catch them doing something right, that's not as much fun. But uh, I had a question slash small problem with my Samsung phone. Nothing wrong with the phone, but I had a question about how to how to set something up that I wasn't google ble right, I was not able to find it online. I went to Samsung Support on Twitter and they spent the entire weekend going back and forth with me to help answer my questions, checking in how did it work? Did you put it in safe mode? Well, how are you resolves? I mean, they followed up for three days. I've never seen such customer service like that, not a sponsor. Thank you at Samsung Support. Love you love your phones, but I've never received I've I've received good customer service on on Twitter. But that's amazing that they checked back in the next day and then and while you're on that topic, um, shout out to Verizon five else, which I recently installed in my apartment. Except for dust and from Stranger Things, I hate him in the except the commercials and that guy I don't please stop, but I want to say one thing. Amazing customer service. They text you, they call you when they're coming, so they don't keep you at home all day. If your window is from one to five pm that morning, they'll text you say hey, I'll be there around to fifteen. That's cool, that's thoughtful. And then the guy the coolest He mounted the box in my wall. He put some screws in. He sounds dirty. He mounted your box and puts his put his screw in a minute. Why would the fireless guy do that when you have dorman to do that. Okay, come on, man, don't get me started. Come on. So anyway he did, he made it nice. He made my my coat closet where all this stuff lives really look beautiful with all the wires. Whereas the former service, which was outgoing service um direct TV, which I dis continued, well that's a whole other. Wait a minute, did you did you complain? Did you discontinue direct TV? I love direct TV? Okay, so brody, this is one. This is what have been one for you to tackle. I live in what's called a multi dwelling unit. I live in an apartment complex. I'm not gonna get fancy apartment where we all share. We all share one satellite. This okay, so that's a problem. Well, but it's not where someone changes the channel and the satellite goes in one direction and another apartment. We all are on this system. Okay. The point is we cannot have satellite boxes past the year two thousand and eight. I'm senilar or older, which way passed up past like meaning and feuture coming towards the present. The most recent box, I'll put it this black and white. It's it's when the h D DVRs just came out. It's like one of those giant s silver boxes. We cannot get. We don't get genies. We don't have this genie service. We don't have that I have whole home. So as a result of the limited technology of this box, it's ten years old. Because us I live in an apartment building where this is the only box I can have. You call it a multi on a multi dwelling unity. I cannot take advantage of this new four KTV that I got for Christmas. By the way, the name of this podcast packages and units Packages, I want to call it old boxes, old boxes and packages Hands on Brodie's Packages. I'm telling you sexy title. We're gonna Scaries Unit and Brodie's Package. Very funny. We gotta do scari Unit Brodies package. So that's the name of It'm gonna write that down better yet yet Brodie's Package Scaries Unit. So I could have used you for free dessert. Because what happened was I was on the phone. I was arguing with them. I said, to wait a second, you mean to tell me my TV that I just got for Christmas, which happens to be four K I am. I am not allowed. You're punishing me. I'm not going to get the four K service because the box can't. I can't deliver the four KSE service because it's a ten year old box. By the way, there's only like three channels that broadcasting four K. But right, but I'm want to set myself up to the future. I want the best possible signal possible. You know what I'm saying. That's not the best possible signal possib that's what you just said. Yeah, double that shirt you have, oh, the my favorite one, the department of department fucking brilliant shirt. You just said, the best possible service possible. Okay, I also have something about dyslexia, a dyslexia T shirt too. Let's not come on, go on, keep going. But anyway, point is, I don't know. I was I needed you on vacation. I didn't want to bother you, disrupt you on your break. But I was like, funk man, I'm like, I could totally use Brody here. Because what ended up happening was I got into an argument with them and the result was I'm leaving you guys for for Verizon FiOS next week because you guys can't put a box in my apartment. The department buildings rule. It's direct TV. They don't do multi unit. Direct TV doesn't have a box that can physically support the technology. Because I live in one of these buildings where we all share a satellite dish. It's this is they say, listen, you live in one of those buildings with satellite dish with one dish, so this is the only box that we can offer you. You can't get a Genie and we would give it to you if we could, but we can't. I'm a great so now I can't view anything and really high I got a Genie in my bedroom baby, Yeah, rubbed you rubbed me the wrong way. So I'm leaving. So how how would you have combatd that? Well, it's kind of like checkmate. It's like, well, here's what I saw. Here's what I would have done. Because I tried to corner him. I tried to make him say the statement, sorry, you can't use you the benefits of your four KTV. Here's what I would because you have a ten year old box. Yes you had that before. You get in trouble for that. Okay, it's what you hit. That's the name of the podcast, Scary ten year old box. Okay, you might have the FBI listening. Okay. Um, what you should have done was two years ago complained and gotten a count on your service. You should have said, I want to buy a four KTV, but I can't because your box sucks. Why am I paying full price? I already have a four KTV and I can't use it. Why why should I stay with tail? I didn't have one at the time. Okay, but I didn't have one at the time. I just got one who also could have brought the four KTV knowing what I just told you that most stations don't broadcast in four K and complained now and gotten a discount for the next year. Until this channel is a broadcast, Yeah, I wasn't having It's something like four this four channel and they're all premium channels. On the fires commercial, I like, I'm sold, all right. Speaking of the kids, I want to talk about kid from Okay. I want to give a shout out to Amazon. They know why again you you go to their website, we have a problem, and you hit call us right you're putting your number. They call you back instantly, instantly, twenty four hours a day. Now. The personal phone doesn't always have an accent you're familiar with, but they always call you back. Love them. Enterprise rent a car. My car got rear ended. Brodie got rearended. That could be the title, Brodie got rearended. Hands on his package mount mounting Scaries box. Okay, they got a lot of listens on this one. So I had to drive a rental car for two weeks because that they found damage to my car. You know, the obvious damage, the cosmetic damage when he took the giant bumper off the back of my car. All the things that have absorbed the shock all broke, which they didn't know, So then I had to go back to the insurance company and then get another check, another one, So it took a while to repair my car. Enterprise saved me from the other insurance companies rental car service that I'm going to rant about later Enterprise and and maybe next week Enterprise picked me up, which this which what they do. They put me in the best car they had available, which was pretty good, but I told him the car really wanted what I you know, kind of level the car I wanted because the car I drive is a loaded car, not a fancy car, but it's got every option, satellite radio, anapsistem, leather interior, whatever. So when a car came in like mine three days later, they called me and said, we've got a better car come in. Then, when the car had a problem with the transmission, I called him from the road and said, Hey, the transmission slipping on this car, not a problem. Where are you great? Your closest location is We'll call them and have an equivalent call waiting for you. Ready to go. I got there, Mr Brodie, We've got your your such a search car. It's right there, it's got gas in it, ready to go. Here are the keys. No paperwork, goodbye, no need for free dessert on this one. You got a great tasting. They gave me free dessert. Enterprise run a car fantastic And I wasn't a paying customer. The guy who hit me his insurance company paid for it. They treated me like I was their custom I love Enterprise. Um, it's more more positivity. No, no, no, I want to talk about I want to talk about. I want to talk about. I want to talk about Galen uh Matarazzo, who plays Dustin from Stranger Things. I watched against both seasons of Stranger Things, loved it. I can't stand him in the finals commercials, but mostly because of what they make him say and his character whatever. But he lives in the New York, New Jersey area and he's a Mets fan, and so I want if he's listening to his podcast, I don't want him to think I don't like him. You just don't like the character in the finals commercial I don't like. Yeah, I think they're over there. I just it's a little too much. So but I actually lit a little story for you. You know, we're friends with the New York Mets. Gary and I are good friends with the team in the front office and we're big fans and uh so every year they have a national anthem contest in uh, I want to say March. I think it's March, and they have people from all over the area come and they go into the press room and they sing and so usually a couple of local minor celebrities like ourselves will come and we'll judge them, like American idol, I've done this before, he's done this before. Weel Scary did it for like four years in a row, and then one year you went away year and right now were like, oh my god, it was Scary was booked to do this and I'm like, will you cover I'm like, I'm on vacation, but it's the Mets. Absolutely, it was two years ago, right, So I went anyway, one of the kids two or three, two years ago, three years ago, and I was not. I wasn't. Last year was three years ago. I covered you the first time. Yeah. One of the kids was uh was Gayton Matterazzo. I judged him singing national anthem and they went and they went back and checked my paperwork. I liked him and he got sing the nationalanthem. I was the only one. All the judges liked him. But he sang the national athem whatever he saying for me when he wasn't famous. So I feel like he owes me his career. All right, Randy Jackson, I don't think he really. Okay, I'm ready for some unused jokes because I saw a will fly by today. Yeah. You know a lot of times when we do the show, Brodie's right there right like crazy, gives jokes to Elvis. A lot of them make him on the air, some of it. Some of them do not make it on the air, and rather than throw it in the garbage, we along to them and Brody collects these punch lines. Now, today I saw Elvis take one and he flung it, laughed his ass off and flung it at I'll address that in a minute. Okay, we'll get to that. But anyway, so what do you got from You've been back two days. There's not a lot on your joke. Okay. Um, we were talking about a show called Lucky Dog and apparently it's um, I don't you end up crying because the guy either adopts dogs. I don't care, don't, I don't care. Whatever was about it was a show that makes you cross. It's sad. It's on Saturday mornings on CBS. I've seen it. And so he's like, oh, what's the name of that show? So I I said, you know, because it's a show that makes dogs cry. I said, this is Pugs. It was just short like this is us. This is Pugs. It wasn't grey. He didn't like it. No, I don't like it either. All right, there you go. Uh. We were talking to Charlie Walk, a dear friend of ours. He's president of Republic Group, which is a big thing, and he's also on the Fox TV show four and he talked about how he took um Julia Michaels to see Beautiful, the Carol King Story, and she had an epiphany, Julia Michaels and realized that she also should be a performer, not just a writer. Because Carol King, she saw Kyle King live out her life. It's like, I gotta be like that. So my joke was Elvis went to see Wicked and end up being an evil witch. He didn't like. We played sound from a Guy today. He was the big winner. He won like thirty dollars playing Plinko. That's on the prices right right, we play. Yeah, that was awesome. And apparently they found out he worked for a television company and that was a conflict of interest. So they said you can't have the money because one of the things we said was you can't work for it's it's the rules. Yeah, yeah, you can't do that. So my my one liner was you didn't get your money from Plinko. That's Stinko again. It was just a quick throw, right, we didn't get to it. Oh, okay, this isn't political, it's just factual. Okay, So don't go roll your rise it man. I'm just it's okay. Monday in New York. Trump Tower quote on fire. That true story is yea, the famous Trump Tower, the home of our president, who doesn't spend any time there is at the White House. His home is still at Trump Tower, right, And if you know his home, then you get the joke. I said, Trump Towers on fire. I didn't know gold was flammable because it's like like, oh, everything's gold. That's true. Yeah, we didn't get to it. And another one that I advertised on the radio this morning that said it would be on this podcast. Here's the problem. Finally, this is the funniest joke in You grabbed your stomach and bent over and you shed a tear. And then I left. Elvis looked at it, put his head head in his hands. It was he was laughing so hard he didn't want to laugh into the mic, but he didn't do it. And then I showed it to Bethany and she punched me and went, oh my god. And I looked at Danielle and she wa like that. Here's the problem. You may have been listening to this podcast from the beginning. I've got I've got three kids. I want to keep my job, so I cannot tweet, text email, I can't or even say the joke punchline on this podcast. I can't do it. I can't. I'm mad man. There's no way to get around it. Either. You have to set up the story. Can I do the punchline? I can't. What is it? Let me pull up the piece of paper to me. Let me see it. Let me see what the piece of paper says. All right, I changed the first word because I can't. Definitely can't say that because the comment was about a book that he may So wait a second, what if we do it in two parts? Just like the old radio bit where where you give the punch line now and then, but then let people go listen to the show and then put the pieces together on their own. No, impossible, because the setup is the problem. Yeah, the setup is the problem. So so here's the thing. There was something said on the show. Right, let's let's just say somebody said something was in was in cheese. Right. It wasn't like like, oh, that's in cheese, then I did. I took something that is in cheese. What if I said it was in cheese? It would be hurtful, and cheese would be the thing that was in the cheese would be mad that I said. So it was a very clever comment that something else was also in cheese. Again, there was no cheese reference. It wasn't cheese. It was like, oh that's in cheese. Well you know what else is in cheese? This is in cheese. Very clever. But I don't think that now would appreciate a joke that it's in cheese. So I can't tell you that. I'm sorry, you can't do the joke. I'm sorry. Listen, if I ever want to do it, I can't do it. Maybe after they fire you then you can do the joke. No, then you see, now you're implying it's about our company, which it's not. It's just it's so it's a it's I can't okay, I can't do it. All right? Uh, I want to talk to Alexa. They'll call your mom. I'm gonna call my house again. I've been trying to reach her off the air. Yeah, I didn't wish your happy birthday, Birdie. I feel like a tool. I really do. I feel really feel like a tool. Come on, somebody's gotta be home. Somebody, come on, answer the phone. Yeah, I don't think anybody's home. We're gonna just scrap this. Oh dad, Hey, it's Anthony. Oh who's Sheldon? Diane? Who is coming up? As Sheldon? What's it coming up? It's coming up at Sheldon died Diane one? You know why that is? Mr Arriets David Broody? How are you? I'll tell you what. When we do phone taps, we have to disguise the phone number. Well, we call people. Yeah, so whoever did a phone tappen here? We have a we have a computer system that allows us to change the caller idea. Yeah, we change the caller ID, so maybe maybe the other number will call I got one one one one one million or something. Yeah, we change it to zero. Hey, is your lovely wife home? Yeah? I have to tell her something. Yeah. By the way, Mr Scary, did you remember it's her birthday today? Of course? Yeah? Now now now did your other two children call mom to wards your happy birthday? I'm not sure. I don't think so. Okay, but there's a lot of texting going on. Yeah, well, guess what? Guess what? Guess what? That? Uh? They for the phone? I forgot? But phone a phone call from me. It's worth more are than Stephen or Jennifer texting mommy earlier or facebooking them? Oh my god, it doesn't get any more, you know. I guess would you say social media? No? No, no, no no, no, no, no no no. Did they send flowers? That don't count flowers? Because dad, Because if you gotta, you gotta, it's impersonal. Facebook is the worst. Okay, Scary. The bottom line is Scary forgot it was his mom's birthday. I forget it was her birthday. Now he's taking a valuable podcast on this is better. This is a phone call on a podcast in front of people what's going on over there? All right, we're talking to somebody. Yeah, she's she's going to get off the phone now, okay, thank you, Dad, Dad, Dad? Dad? Do you do you talk to Alexa? Do I talk to Alexa? You're talking about the box there? Box there? You talk to your Alexa? No, I don't have We don't have it at the house. No, I don't have it. No, got I got to speak the the extension I have to speak about you. Uh, I'm bluetooth speaking phones. That's exactly what I got, right right right, Okay, hold on the Okay wait wait, she's yeah, she's on. She's on. Is your version of this is your way of stalling? No, no, it's acted. He's on a podcast he wants brought to you. He's got. It's you. It's about your birthday, ruining it, sures dad. Sure, he wants to apologized for not pologize. Now, don't ruin the phone call. He keeps a secret as well as you do. Yeah, okay, hold on, hold on, I'm just kidding. I'm not he listens, gonna be edited out. How do we edit it from her hearing it? I don't know. It worked miracles with that, these freaking phones. You know what I mean? How is the son of speaker doing? How what the sun speaker? It's good, it's doing. Okay, it's lovely. How can I tell you? I have a question for you, Mr Scary? Did you like the big zeno or did you prefer having um stuff shells? You want to know something? I would you know, we have to all said and done. I think I would enjoy the stuff shells. Thank you. I think referry to another podcast of the podcast. We'll keep that in mind for next year. Don't worry, we won't tell your wife. You said that we'll keep a secret. We'll keep a secret just as well as you did put it on the phone. Come on, alright, alright, alright here, I'm trying to get roys all right. You know it's one of these Italian good buys, you know what I mean. Seconds. I used to I used to be a waiter at a cantery hall, and and we used to end the party at midnight. And I swear to God that the Irish did not leave until like one thirty in the morning. They were standing with stereotyping. Let's go right, but the Irish goodbuby doesn't mean that he's the opposite. It means when you disappear from society. Mom. Hello, hey mom, mom, mom scary. Hey, we're not We're not supposed to tell you, but your husband preferred stuff shells. Hey, listen, see even daddy said he looked stuff shells next year. Never going to leave that down? Never, right? Thanks z Come on? Where am I? Now? You're on the podcast? It's starting scary? Yeah, you don't put you. You don't put your own son first. Mother gave me props first. Supposed to do that. You're supposed to put the other person first. Yeah, B and S. That's BS. Scared, that's BS. That's right. No, you called Brody's name out before mine. It wouldn't be the first time. But listen, who's mom? Are you anyway? I still remembered you, so that she remembered you. That's also me very good. All right, listen, I just wanted I called to because I remembered that it was your birthday, so I have to. I reminded him Happy birthday. Thank you very much, Thank you, Anthony. I have it in my phone to remind him every year. I bet you do. I knew it was your birthday. I meant to call it out on the radio earlier, but so glad that you didn't. I really am be course, and everybody calls and that it's bad enough. It's on Facebook. So you're suggesting me, is that nobody's going to hear you're on this podcasting, But that means nobody's You kind of dissed us right there, mom, because because you are. I told him the last time when I was on about the stuff shelves, and one of my friends did know what you're pretty much saying that when I'm on if I call it out on Elvis this show people and we call it out on the podcast, nobody cares. Well, you know what nobody has, So I don't know. I guess not. I don't know what can I tell you? Podcasters? That's all that's and that's all that matters. That's t Brodian is scary, That's right. Well happy, that's right, Brodian, scary. Happy birthday. By the way, you do agree though that by me calling you on a podcast, no less, which is kind of like an extra bonus, is all right? That's even phone call is better than a text, which is also a text. Text is better than a text is better than a Facebook message, right, okay, okay, okay, then then settle. This is a phone call on a podcast a better present than if Stephen and Jennifer actually get you presents. This count as a president. Yes it is, because you know me, I'm like, you know, they don't have to buy me. Okay, my mom returns everything. But that's okay. That's good because for Mother's Day a few years ago, I had Guy Fietti saidhido on the radio, and that was my gift tar and I got. I got her a copy of his cookbook that he brought up for us. Oh well, the cookbook was called free Dessert Here. Brody, Okay, now we need you to settle one more thing and then then we'll let you go on your birthday. Yeah, I know, did you did you? Did you tip your mailman this year? Yes? Guess what? The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, all right, did you? Well? The thing is Brody has an issue with with tipping mail. I feel, I feel they do a great job, but they get paid they do. But you know what, he makes an extra effort that he doesn't leave my mail downstairs. So he climbs up steps, He climbs the steps yes he does. Brodie, you have steps, bird, you have steps. I don't want to talk about it. Of course he does his mailman climb steps too. I have five steps. But that's the job. It is the job. But you know what, when he's not there and you have somebody else in his place, although do is the stuff the mail down stright. He knows how to do the job well right right, and and he does. You know, he's been here, he's been with us for a couple of years now, and sometimes in the summer time he's very you know, he's very nice. As Tony's home, he'll you know, greet him or whatever. But we we always we always tip him. Back in the day when used to get papers that you used to tip the paper boy at Christmas time? Always you forgot always. How is there any different? First of all, I was a paper boy, second of all. Second of all paper boys get at the time, I made like ten cents a paper every day. You got crap. You worked on tips, That's what you made your money. My paper boy was so good. He would really go out of his way. He was he was young, I mean, come in the house and read the paper for and not be honest be honest. He was just starting out and he was so appreciative. Not everybody, not everybody you know does it right? So you know, and now today he's a pea offer today, so you know. Alright, well, alright, we'll be honest. The mailman that you give a tip to, good looking guy, good looking guy. No, I don't know. I'm working, okay, alright, okay, maybe he's delivering the packages, you know. Okay, don't talk to my mother like that. That's my mother talking to We're you know, we're very appreciated, very good on the floor, very good. How do you taught me? Right? And how do you like that? You like that? So speaker scary guy for you? Right? Oh, I love it. It's good, it's great. Yeah, get one of those. Yeah, yes, all right, well, happy birthday, thanks for getting phone off. Birthday, so I'm off the hook. I don't know you're a present. No, you don't know me. No, just by hearing your voice and knowing that you're safe and everything is good, that's a great. Good momma, take you all right, don't you dare tell her? Don't you tell her? So? Okay, we can't, we can't, you can't. I can't tell you that we got gifted you. Yes, you got gifted. Yeah, I got gifted. We all this speaker. I love mine. I got gifted to sono speaker. We all did. And I got and and and I and I actually passed it onto my parents. We can be honest. As a Christmas president, Son gave us his beautiful speak And by the way, the sound is and I already have one. I already had one. So what I do. What I did was, you know, you can set them up to be two, like one in each room and they connect. I know, but I live in a small apartment, so I don't need multi unit. Yes, so I gave my PVD. I gave my parents. Yeah, but I thought you were going to let the cat out of the back. And he knows you didn't get her high tech technology like that that you wouldn't you wouldn't go out And by that, that's a that's a beautiful speaker. That's not the kind of gift you by your mom. That's the kind of gift you re gift your mom. Yeah. Now, by the way, my mom is gonna hit this podcast. You can be very upset by the way. Well, listen, you your mom has been on back to back pod. Yes, my mother has a free dessert story. I want to get her on the next podcast. I don't know if she's available next week, but we'll get her on next week. She'll be on. I would love to free dessert. Uh, you have a rant. And by the way, my mother would say my name for us too, so yeah, but I love her. I uh, now do I want to I'm gonna bitch you know what. I'm gonna give you a mini rant about Alexa. But I wish we had an Alexi here to to show you. Well, why don't we save that one and then we can experiment. You know what I'll do somebody, I'll record the audio of me trying to get Alexa and why she hates doesn't have to be a rant, but I'll rant about it and yeah, yeah, exactly, all right, so they give me something else because then we gotta get out of here. Aren't you guys listening to this? Aren't you a little uh only tiring? A little bit? Uh a little bit? Do you think I think I think we're a little exhausting on some people. I'm gonna give a short rant about Applebee's. I'll say, by the way, if you made it to the end of this podcast, maybe we could throw something in there right now, because I'm really curious. Do people fall off after the first half hour or people? Here, we are almost two hours into this thing. People still listening. Exhausting to people. Uh, you know what, tweet us hash hashtag Scary's box if you've heard this part of the podcast. People always say we want a long podcast on a long podcast, a long podcast. Because we had so much to cover in two weeks. I feel like we gave him a little bonus, you know what, instead of a holiday card from the Acquired Taste podcast about an extra hour. And by the way, we're going to do an acquired Brooklyn Boys podcast or or a Quiet Boys taste. I think that's acquired by Taste. Not doing that. We're gonna do some kind of combo we're all about about a boy's taste or No, we're not doing that. That's no interest. So we're gonna do a super podcast and then we'll posted on both of our podcast I just want I want to complain a little bit about Applebee's. I love Applebee's. They're the only ones that give you eight monz of Alla sticks. Everyone else gives you five or six, So we're gonna table. Um, We're gonna table table things like silly gifts for your kids and the dry cleaner rant. I'm gonna save. I'm gonna save skiing in Killington, I'm gonna save, save the blind date episode stuff. I'm gonna save my day from hell. I'm gonna talk about the crank Chop. We already have a full podcast for next week, frank Chop and the Buttonhole. My my tailor's uh, non English speaking seamstress doesn't understand what I'm saying about my buttonhole when you talk about that. But no, I'm gonna talking about problem. Here's my problem with Applebee's. We go to Applebe's for dinner. Take my mom and two of my kids. We go to Applebee's for dinner. Who don't love Applebee's casual dining. You know what I like about Applebee's. They put pictures on the wall of local sports teams, like the like the town high school team that the cheerleaders, they're on the wall. They make it very local. They also boil your food in bags and then then no, they don't slide it onto your plate. No they don't. No, they do not. They don't. Okay, here's my problem. They have a frequent flyer card. You know what that is. Oh, by ten cups of Starbucks coffee, get the eleven one free. By eight subway sandwiches, get the ninth free. Everyone's got a frequent flyer card, right, So my mother says, I'll take you guys to apple Bees. The kids wanted apple Bees. I'm like, go eight months of el sticks with an extra sauce, bring it. Got a Hamburger, fantastic. They got everything right, no complaints. So my mother's got a card that says every buy ten entrees, get one free. Okay. So she had like five stamps on the card. So the four of us we buy four entrees. She picks up the taps. She wants to pay for dinner for the kids. She didn't see him in the holiday. She said, take you to dinner, and um. She gives the waitress the card and her credit card comes back and the card has one stamp on it. So my mother says, sounds like she got jipped. My mother says, oh, I'm sorry, you want to put on stamp on the car. I'm sorry she got h that's the wrong word. She got ripped, she got she got pent nickel and dime. Yeah, okay, yeah, alright, okay, yeah, you're right. Okay. So, by the way, you don't know why google it. I don't get into the whole thing. Okay. So um she says that the way, she just calls her back and says, you only stamped my card once I bought four entrees. Says, oh no, if you read the fine print. Now, my mother is not reading fine print out her glasses. It's ridiculously fine. It's so fine print, you sons of bitches. I had to use my phone magnifying glass app and that took a picture of the card and pinched zoom on the card because you couldn't read the card. The fight print was so fine. The regular print was fine. The fight print was microscopic. There wasn't at me but over the high that's how fine the print was. And in the fight print it said one stamp, one entree per purchase, per person, per visit. So that means if you're a family of four, that dick, you're gonna have to share it, or you could be you could do what I would do. You say for you, I want table checks, four checks, four tables around, yeah, table of one, table lettle one, table level one, table of one, and then all four cards and then that you each get you eat. You know you know that on fuck that? Man, I am so pissed. I'm pissed with you, Brodie. How can they do that? You could have all You could have absolutely gotten around it by doing that, by sitting around in singular tables and singular checks, and then everyone then oh, I guess we qualify. Now you beat yeah, So I said, come on now, I'm mad for you. Right now, my mother just brought four entrees. Give me two. Oh, I can't do that. They go, you want us to come back? We frequent flyers. You give me one stamp If I go to Subway and buy four sandwiches for my buddies. They don't go, well, you're not to eat four of those. You get one stamp. Bullshit, bulls. You want me to be a freakent flyer. I bring ten of my friends in. You can't give me a hundred The check was a hundred five dollars. You can't throw me a ten dollar half a rack of ribs. You can't give me some bourbon chicken. They called that by backs you can't give me stars and bars they get. Yeah, I want my by back by backpack back. I want my buy back by back by back ribs. You're telling me that I buy ten entrees wan back back back. You're telling me if I buy ten entrees, you can't hook a brother up with some Jack Daniels chicken fingers. It's not even like real Jack Daniels in there. That fine print that I just read you was like a sentence long, right. It took up a third of an inch. That's how fine the fight print was. Dude, i'd complain, where's the corporate I don't know. Are you gonna get free desserted? It's apple bullshit, is what it is. You know. I took a picture of it. Let me be the best for bullshit. I'm just if I can find the card, I can read it. Not anyway. Either way, they shouldn't have put it in such fine, fine, fine fine prints. Unbelievable. And secondly they you know what, there's ways around. There are loopholes that you could have actually applied. Yeah, I should have said, you know what, my daughter is buying her own meal, that's her card. But I don't know this woman. She just happens to be sitting with me. Well, I said that. I said that in jest. I was sort of like half kidding. I said, well, I can order my own entree because well, I already saw the card. I know it's it's her card, So I was like, will you not get me a new card, stamp my card once, and then put the two card. You know what, a lot of places they say you can't combine cards either. F those people, that's how you lose frequent flyers. I should tweet Applebee's about that policy because it sucks ass. Because the point is they want you to come back a lot. Well, if I come back with my family, every tied to come back with. So basically I have to buy forty sam forty entrees to get one entree, right, and that whole fine print thing, you know, that's like that's like sometimes you see or hear car commercials and they'll go no no no no no no no no no no no no no, you slow it down. Only applies to slightly dented, dark green cars that are missing a wheel. But all you hear is, by the way, there's a radio station in New York, not ours, and not our company either, where when those commercials come on. Not only are they are those terms and agreements those what do they call those claims? Not only are they sped up like that and jumbled, they put them in the beginning of the commercials. Right, so you don't even know that it's a car commercial yet. Right, So they'll go, but they'll be like the commercial will come on first, starting right out of the gate with no no no no no no no no no. You should all come down to your local super U and it goes into the commercial afterwards. That is that should be wrong. Its stupid laws. Be arrested. But we're worried about legalizing marijuana. Let's make that illegal. Let's star up worrying about marijuana or whatever else. I'm not I'm not pro anything, but that's it. Fuck you when you find print I'm hitting up on social media now because now I'm upset find printing my ass. I'm paying for forty meals to get one free. If I'm a family attend I'm paying for a hundred meals to get one meal free. This is why you should eat out by yourself. That's what Applebe's is saying, come eat out by yourself. No, that's the name of the podcast right now, come eat out by yourself. You better not spell out the way you think you want to spell it. We're gonna get that out of here. Oh, I'll talk about up two sales next week. Up two sales, brocle Boys Boys Bro
